Everyone saying buy Nigeria fail to notice that almost all the NPFL clubs are government owned and run.... ....is that not enough reason not to touch it. Hear this. If Nigerians want development they should crave investment. If they crave investment then they should demand government leaves first. And let the enterprise be entirely private sector run in and out, top to bottom. The first and most important thing that will happen next is that arbitration is possible. This factor alone will attract investment. |
XXXXTENTACION:Trains and bridges caused all that....wow...So, if Nigeria becomes Dubai like, the naira to the dollar becomes 1 to.... |
femi4:He looked tired. His stamina needs another level. |
Hmmm, he needs to work on his pace, stamina and make his right leg a bit more useful to be effective in a German led team. |
When your mentality is soiled by your nation where the rule of law is alien you act like this saying, 'you donot want to report them to FIFA', then why bother us with sob stories. If I am robbed and for whatever reason refuse to report to the police then there is something definitely wrong somewhere. Someone out there is selling porkies. |
The government has played its hands. It will now have to bear the consequences. The sense here is clear, it has placed the interests of individuals above the nation and totally ignored the sensibilities of a swathe of its citizens further weakening its ability to govern properly and fuelling the already tense insecurity situation to which the police admitted today it is essentially bankrupt. Wise governance will not be hasty in personalising this incident. They will rather act independent and let the Legislature, the referees in this case take the heat. Afterall it is our Representatives that slipped up in vetting this person. Then they will have satisfied both sides of the equation. |
Of course they will deny. That is government without oversight, democracy in a poorly structured country. |
Mouth Gig:No one stands to gain anything from escalating the situation and inviting violence particularly over unsubstantiated allegations. Genocides in Europe and Africa have resulted from assassinations of top leadership and this can easily, easily go terribly wrong. We should be extremely careful here. Let justice prevail. Insist on the system working. That is the responsibility of society. |
No be by force. Sub's are big boys toys. Don't mess with tech you cannot control. Sorry. Next time just sign a defence pact with either David or Goliath. |
Arcridwan:Nothing wrong in a knowledgeable person stepping up a concern. That is why we need the middle class representing us in government. They are practically affected. |
9jaRealist:Well said. You can imagine what the Naira will be converting by now if we were importing cement. What folks and the Nat Assembly should be asking for is details and reasons. Bring the producers in and ask them why the high margins compared to foreign products and see whether these factors can be handled, simple. |
The much expected run on the naira has started. This is the final straw. Brace for impact Nigeria. |
Profayo:Absolutely. |
That is what a goverment exists for. To look at its resources and tailor incidents accordingly. It doesn't go around lighting fires all over society and ignoring smouldering embers. That is what we call "The State of the Nation". The ability of governance to function effectively and the leadership necessary to ensure it is not overwhelmed. Britain looked at the capacity of the NHS for example during Covid and implemented preventive policies to ensure its primary health care system did not crash. Brazil's leadership on the other hand sticks to its regrettable sentiment till today and its health system has crashed with overwhelming wartime like casualties. There is no nation in the world that can hospitalise its entire population so it ensures its citizens are healthy. No nation that can give food packs to its entire citizens so it ensures its economy ticks along and there is no nation that can warehouse all its citizens in prison so it ensures justice prevails. Only in Nigeria the leadership thinks it can continue in its disastrous sectional, ethnic, nepotistic, autocratic ways of governance and not expect a dysfunctional state, and a resuktant social and economic meltdown leading to the viral outbreaks of lawlessness that has overwhelmed the security services. If all of us down patriotism and resort to self help like our government is always keen on doing how many policemen and prisons will they be able deploy. The police is out resourced simply because of poor leadership and bad governance, simple. Improve leadership and the majority of causatives of anti societal ills will be contained. |
AHCB:Oga. I think what people out there are DOING against the nation and one another is far, far worse than what they are SAYING in media to your discomfort both in context and reality. Consider this. Tragedies are brewing as we speak. Plans to invade, kidnap, plunder communities. By the time these things are spoken about it his too late to stop them. So it is incumbent on government to be proactive in halting the wanton violence racking the land and ensuring justice and equity prevails throughout all Nigeria then the news that hurts you guys so much will naturally ebb away. But you guys want to have your cake of injustice, maladministration and sycophancy and eat a peaceful, progressive, praise worthy society. How do you square that circle. Leadership in the democracy we all know does what the people want for the good of the people. This one we have right now just does what it likes, damns then vast majority of people and has scant empathy for their horrendous leadership outcome. Oga. Be careful what you wish for. You are asking for the 'Silence of the Lambs'...think well oh. It is better to have an outspoken society than one... |
Zmark:Is he not already investing abroad? What is the difference. Not a subscriber to the break up of Nigeria but if a society improves by what ever means it will profit anyone of sound mind and good conscience. |
alfarouq:And if Osinbajo had such a coloured past. Considered openly the Head of the KKK (can't even imagine any equivalent in Christianity) 'a better Christian than he is, attended meetings where agendas to rail road Islam out of Nigeria were discussed and deliberated, published lots of hate materials, and spawned a cult like following amongst extreme, violent 'brethren'. Will you still consider it fair play for him to hold high office and entrust him with national security. That is the justice or the lack of it lots of folks speak about that is cartwheeling this country into the abyss. The mundane statements of the likes of Mathew Kukah and the vitriol of the likes of David Oyedepo against bad governance, not even against other religious adherents and certainly not proselytising violence were met with much angst in your circles. What will you think or do if somehow they were appointed inti this government... indeed, any government. Won't you folks go totally ballistic.... Just admit that his utterances and actions are unbecoming of political leadership in a supposedly multi-religious state as Nigeria and will not be tolerated in any democratic setup that seeks progress. You certainly will not tolerate the proverbial boot on the other foot. |
Aremson14:The report indicated a 'fatwa' was placed on the boy. Who placea fatwa's if not religious leadership. This is becoming a real mess. Serious problems are brewing in Nigeria. I once warned that a time is coming when Nigeria and Nigerians as a whole will beg for restructuring but alas it will be too late. |
I believe that Charles Soludo has the pedigree to take Anambra to another level and improve the fortunes of its citizens. He was a major contributor to the most prosperous economic period we have had since the advent of the 5th Republic as CBN Governor. His policies were very positive in expanding the economy and attracting investment. I believe he can replicate that in Anambra and give meat to Peter Obi's legacy. |
Nice...sturdy....but those tyres look like a real Achilles Heel. They seem rather light weight and a concern if they are not kevlar lined or solid neoprene. If an armoured vehicle has its legs cut off easily then it's a sitting duck. |
Of all the ills befalling Nigeria, bovine security is top priority.... honestly... just donot know what to say. This is the penalty the Nigerian citizen will pay for not taking democracy seriously, objectively and intellectually. No human being can rise above his knowledge and experience what he cannot assimilate. Just sad....of all the issues tearing this country apart. Truly heart breaking.. |
NwaNimo1:Chai... , you eh... |
TMKsouth:It is exactly. It is called perspective. When an aircraft falls out of the sky all previous incidents are uncovered for patterns that suggest cause. It is only the unintelligent that views things like these in isolation. |
chrisxxx:No sir, that is not correct. It is not a carte blanche. You cannot assume that. |
Princeofwales:Probably the case but he should check through legal representation to be sure that is the case. |
9jaRealist:Nigeria is the preeminent importer of goods and services on the continent. It cannot make sense to locate a logistics company outside our customs borders. It will simply make their goods more expensive to sell here. They know this logic but the overwhelming challenges this country faces must have tilted their opinion away. This is practically what we call the cost of doing business in Nigeria which Amazon will face as well. Nigeria is seriously hostile to investment. There are few things beyond the large but tragically poor population that attracts. If we are not careful all future investment will amount to more than the production of diapers and 'durex'....if you catch the sad drift. |
Bouz:Hope so. |
KidDarkness:Expel Real, Barca and Atletico from Laliga is suicide. Other leagues to a lesser extent. |
A working democracy where those who lead or want to first serve. Where actions have consequences and where the citizens are feared and respected. This is a whole party chair. Here a common Senator/MP assaulted a shop assist and is still in office. Here a common civil servant assaulted a security man and it was the security man who was brutalised by state actors. And we remain hopeful of development...eh |
Once thise clubs can get the biggest names in corporate sponsorship on their side then UEFA and FIFA are effectively disarmed. However I forsee a compromise on both sides. There is far too much at stake. No sponsor will touch any event be it World Cup, Euro Cup, UCL or Europa without those clubs and the players under contracts there. They simply have become too big to be ignored. FIFA/UEFA will be ruing the takeover of soccer clubs by billionaires, oligarchs and oil sheikhs while they slept. The rules governing ownership will no doubt be tightened in the future. |
owobokiri:Yea, I guess so. His game is so Atletico-ish. Just has to work on the defensive side though or El Cholo will chew him up. |
Arewa1stSon:Lovely. Love Kano. Lived a good deal of my life there. Very progressive state. |
