Good one. End of drama. It is called public service. Nigerians are selfish. Desperation to serve is an anomaly. |
They had better. They are fast losing relevance. The Judiciary is taking over their responsibilities. Vwey soon it will become impossible to defend their humongous budgets when their success rates are abysmal. This is the price to pay when an umpire with an agenda takes sides exchanging the whistle for the scarf. |
Indeed the window of holding this group intact is closing. If it further splinters it will be nigh impossible to contain it. |
Very silly, stupid, infantile statement. Just making a mess of himself. |
They are probably actors. Hard to tell what is real these days. |
Sunnyjoseph44:That's all that matters now. Survival. As for the spread, the virus is as contagious as the air we breathe is abundant. |
GreetMe:Didn't Africa give the world ebola. Were we banned. Stop this poor mentality. It was still a white man working for the WHO who did the heavy lifting in Lagos then risking his life when our folks were terrified. Its like you were 2 or 3 years old during the ebola crises.Too young to remember. How many Africans were denied foreign travel or stigmatized because of the epidemic. |
moorevic:That is what you get when a citizenry has no control over the goverment it elects. If a goverment does not fear the people that hold the true power in a democracy then the people will surely be taken for a ride. In some countries horses are made beasts of burden and trained to be taken for a ride, other climes it is donkeys, camels, emus, lllamas, even elephants. But I am yet to see lions and tigers... why... dunno but I guess not every animal is fit for purpose... Similarly not every character or characteristic is fit for leadership or goverment. Nigerians wanted a strong, rugged, thick skinned man who doesn't listen to opinion and who isn't fickle to act.... Well we have one now. The problem with that is... Is it fit for purpose... The wide variance of purposes a democracy entails... |
'Cash For Votes Scheme - A Synopsis of A Goverment Scamming Its Citizens' That is the result of my own study. To be published by Japa Cummings. I hope you will all be available for the book launch. |
The predictions of 70 percent global population infection is loading..... I think we should rather focus efforts on surviving rather than avoiding. The wprld should focus on getting a vaccine in good time. I guess nature is fighting back. Read a report that sulphur dioxide levels (the world's chemical heat blanket) levels in the atmosphere are falling fast in countries that have general quarantine measures in place. Guess our lifestyle and industrialization is truly dooming humanity. |
Once again the peons will squeal for a while then return to the trough for the leftovers. Once again. Without the restructuring that will make each Senator and Representative earn his income from the taxpayer of the constituency he stands for, nothing positive can happen in Nigeria. Corruption simply cannot end. They are Representatives. Which means they are sent on behalf of the person to carry out an assignment or pass a message. Mbok. When you send someone to the market who is responsible for his transport fare, you or the market woman.... when the police is sent to apprehend a criminal, who provides the handcuffs, the police or the criminal... The reason why nothing meaningful ever happens there is that the wrong people are paying them. How can you oversight an Executive that in effect pays you. Nigerians are essentially swindled by the Constitution. If the taxpayer was sending them will they issue DINO with a Ferrari or Senator Gbaj. 300 tickets to Dubai... Wail all you like Nigeria cannot see a better tomorrow in this structure. |
tsephanyah:If you don't know who Colonel Togun is then you are not competent to be on this topic and probably on this forum. I seriously suggest you pick up your books to read about Nigeria before commenting. It will do you a world of good. |
I hope the hotel where the man stayed sealed the room or the entire floor as soon as news broke. This is time for Nigerians to be enlightened and honest for once to save their own lives. The Portharcourt doctor who disobeyed the ebola disclosure order all those years back paid the ultimate price for his insincerity. There are matters you cannot afford to be corrupt about. If you had contact wirh the Italian better own up voluntarily immediately or die like a poison ingested rat. |
'Leader of Promise Breakers...' .. where is the insult there. It sounds like a title to me....Nigerians should stop electing kings but servants if not... no one will see any benefit of this democratic experiment. |
Shows that these are not leaders in truth or leaders with any iota of inspiration just sentiment. One will have thought that he comes to goverment with ideas, with a pressing program that will alleviate poverty for instance or create jobs or restore the environment or provide infrastructure, something he campaigned vigorously about and vowed to do immediately in office that he cannot wait for the resources of goverment and will seed it to that. But no. He is now in office and all he said which he had no conviction about are history, just tales of flying carpets and the famed city of el-dorado which in realiry he has no idea of how to get to. Anyway he needn't worry. The citizens will not call him to account. As far as they are concerned, citizen has become king and like a king he goes about threatening all those who will not bow in submission. Is this the democracy that was fought for for goodness sake. Who the hell is he to be threatening people. Nigerians are just too timid to get anything good out of their country |
Not my business. I am not a Lagos taxpayer. |
Probably HIV infected by a hooker and wants revenge on society for his folly. Evil walking around seeking whom to devour. |
Good morning sir. Nigeria has finally humbled you. |
Gnaeusmagnus:And it doesn't diminish from the fact that this Liverpool is the best in the history of the Premiership. A host of records are still on the table. |
Gnaeusmagnus:Every success has a price. What you say isn't rocket science, everyone knows that, the authoroties, the club, the gaffer, the players.... What is a surprise is an army going to war, returning in victory and recording no casualty. It was not a matter of if but when Liverpool will be beaten. Why is it so hard to accept. It is no longer a competition if teams just roll over and die. |
Its just a game.....not life and death.... worse than that. ... so said a Liverpool legend..... so |
Tbis post is for the retarded. Nothing here. Bye. |
Looking back now. If one can put his finger on one thing that has led to the decline of Nigerian football I will say without mincing words, it is age grade soccer. It has been a massive distraction, killed club football, killed the Super Eagles, killed administration. I am open for debate on this really. What I do know is that the decline of our football started after we won the Kodak tournament in China, our first global football success. Everything Omeruah and Co. did subsequently was to replicate the success at the expense of clubs and the Green Eagles. More international tournaments meant more postponed league matches leading to abridged leagues, more players removed from clubs to national teams U-17, U-21 meaning well structured teams could not compete anymore or dare recruit young players for fear they will be seconded for half the season and often returned injured, it was a mess. Finally sponsorship left the club scene to these junior national teams. Renumerations were even better for U-17 and U--21 teams at one stage with the Green Eagles derided as 'Daddy Eagles' so yousaw 30 year old grooming and changing their looks to apoear young to 'follow the money'. With a scattered league, dwindling exposure, dropping revenue and a distracted NFA those once mighty clubs began to sink with the billionaire and corporation owned ones such as Babes, Nationale, United (Leventis), NNB and on and on folding up one after the other. Only the deeply traditional and fundamentalist clubs remain in true form today. The senior national team meanwhile continued to stumble until a certain Clemens Westerhof arrived to stabilise thing involving himsrlf not only in game management but with a direct line to the Vice President he was able to skirt the mishap callled the NFA and the once named Papa Eagles became the Super Eagles when they rose to an all time high ranking for an African team of 5th best in the world. Today age grade soccer is comatosed, the senior team has not sustained success in the post Westerhof era and NFF officials are still swimming in corruption and a greed for estacodes. In those days I used to wonder why Europe (except Germany) was not often interested or excited about age grade tournaments. Then I later realised it was because they saw it as a distraction to their senior national teams and the massive business which is club soccer. Nigeria at least has proven that. |
deebrain:No sir, that was Mutiu Adepoju. Got that name for his exploits in Saudi 89. Finidi was more of a long shot expert and a maestro of the flank cross than a classic header of the ball. Finidi could score from outside the box from ridiculous angles. He wasn't prolific but a great player to have in any squad whether the Eagles or the famous title winning Ajax team. Great find by Clemens. |
AreaFada2:Then club football was club football. Total war. Then as a kid you had massive posters of your team be it NNB like you said Insurance, Shooting, Rangers, ACB (later relegated) then the golden era of club soccer, the Babes, Leventis United, Nationale and I can go on amd on. That is what people bantered about in school, not Liverpool's unbeaten record. Though they never won on the continent but they gave those mighty North Africans a torrid time and it was always poor officiating that killed our trophy quest. Then you go watch Stores in Lagos or Jets in Jos (when I was there) and the stadium is absolutely jam packed and rocking.... Nigeria soccer is in the wilderness... |
geedot:Si Senor. I pack ze team bus and quarantine ze Liverpool player in zeir 18 eh. We play like the virus eh, everywhere we enter eh, trable, trable for their players eh.... |
A seasonal unbeaten record is just so daunting that even Arsenal has never quite recovered since. Its a one in a generation thing. Kudos to Liverpool for trying. |
It will be a pity if this team comes up with only the Premiership this season after dominating world soccer so emphatically. |
openmine:That is it. The recent matches should have indicated to the discerning observee that the team was under great strain. They have been huffing and puffing for a while now...not Cuban cigars I mean. ![]() |
awa:That's why its the best league in the world. Endless drama. We just love it. |
Awol1:No you shouldn't. My dad loved soccer and whenever my uncle was in town took me to the Nat Stadium just a stone throw from our house in Surulere back then. Was there live when Nigeria lifted the trophy in 1980 but funny enough I can't remember much. My first interest in the National team was the 1984 Nations Cup which we lost, then we won the 1985 Kodak U-17 Cup and I was all over the moon. In 1987 it all went crashing down as we lost out and I promptly retired from partisan fanatism to save my sanity. These days I can careless what our chaos play. Soccer has all but collapsed these days. Followed the fortunes of Nigeria. They just don't make them like the Finidi Georges' or my favourite all time player, Henry Nwosu, the pocket dynamite. I will never forget his deflected header in Maroc 88.... |
Jeezuzpick:And honest to Nigeria and honest on the field. Never loses his temper, never dives... A consumate pro and gentleman |
