If there is empirical evidence that this program is slowing the uptake to the insurgency or starving it of recruits then so be it. That is the pit we have found ourselves in. But I must say it leaves a very, very bitter taste in the mouth. Like I said many times before this is what should have been done a long time ago, long before much blood had been shed. But government driven by a host of infantile citizens will chant war songs then do what amounts to ridiculous acquiescence.... capitulation, when the price becomes too heavy to bear and its warmongering ineffectual. Just think of IPOB or the Shiites. Treat them humanely when you can. Adminster justice in fairness. But they won't. If this was restricted to mere criminality in the long gone days of the Yaradua regime, these fellows will be serving time or reconstructing vandalised property in a chain gangs but I guess the old saying of Jean Rostand: 'kill one man and you are a murderer, kill a million and you are a conqueror, kill all men and you are a god', holds true here. The worse your crime in Nigeria the better your outcome .... all courtesy of a society of loose morals and ignorant citizens. |
naptu2:That is what I heard on the news this morning. I am not in Lagos and certainly not in Reddington and you are certainly not in Wuhan so news is what we all use in tracking what is going on. That is why I also asked for who has the facts. Facts is what made the ebola crises whatever it became. |
eyinjuege:The vulnerable demographic are the elderly, children those with compromised immune systems and those with pre existing respiratory challenges, e.g asthmatic folks. A worrying problem about this virus is that even those who recover are discovered to have residual lung damage, scarring. |
naptu2:But it is said the results will be out by Friday. So who has the true end of the story. It is just a matter of time before it hits Nigeria. I have given up hope it could at least wait till the rainy season when airborne infections drop but here we are. My concern now is for the aged parents who are more vulnerable medically and will be more difficult to quarantine. I don't think we have fully appreciated the magnitude of this impending disaster. Was speaking to a well versed doctor yesterday but the medical community in general appears a bit too relaxed for my liking. Granted this is just like any other flu outbreak and the mortality for the common cold is even worse but the sheer economic impact is worrying. For folks like us who operate nuts and businesses how exactly do you work from home. We literally operate 24/7 in close, dense proximity. There are expensive materials that will be ruined if unused for just a matter of hours not even weeks that are stocked in quantity for production economic reasons. I just don't know how this willwork and the government isnot coming out withdefinitive plan policy statements on how it plans to handle this matter in the eventuality of a serious outbreak. Will there be ar run on banks for cash. Will there be travel or journey restrictions between and within states for those moving goods, will the markets remain open. Will there be voluntary or mandatory quarantine measures. How much domestic or industrial stocking. What will the game plan be.... What is the Nigerian government planning.... Because it is coming. |
engrobidigbo:I don't unferstand the whole story around this because I remember when Indorama bought over the plant it was said the target was to make Nigeria self sufficient in fertilizer production, urea to be specific and with the upgrade they made they were targeting the export market so what has happened. Anyway the benefit of this will be a competitive market and hopefully good value to end users. |
Such a tragedy. Condolences to the military. |
Enjoy life?.... What a wasteful, selfish, unmotivated mentality. Too bad that he couldn't be reached before all opportunities elapsed. When you look around you at society today there is every temptation to give in and start thinking selfishly as well but the truth is that we are not made for that but for love, to love one another by sacrificing to ensure all humanity prospers. That is what even animals have in their DNA. Purpose. And an overwhelming desire to survive and thrive. Mankind on the other hand even with the blessing of a soul sometimes just cannot see and understand that, so creates around himself a cruel world. Life is all about making sacrifices out of love for humanity till the very end. If it is how to enjoy it.... I agree. |
Why not obtain Ghanian nationality then. It could be an option if possible, dunno. The Lebanese have been doing that in Nigeria for generations and they operate every sort of businesses in Nigeria.. |
edoairways:Apparently it is. I guess a verdict of the Supreme Court is now sacrosanct. Well played judges. It is a win-win scenario for all. The institution fighting back to uphold its constitutional powers but the rap it got round the knuckles because of its dodgy judgements will cause quite a bit of introspection. They know they are under the microscope going forward. The next FUBAR and it won't be the DSS visiting for a nightcap. |
After berating the US and Russia for restrictions and bans as alarmist and cruel they do exactly the same. This is what happens when an autocracy is tested just like Nigeria in so many ways.. |
I was looking through some info and it is said that the last time both Real Madrid or Barcelona finished outside the top four in Laliga was in the 1943/44 season, the 13th year since the league was establiahed. This is an uncanny level of consistency by any sporting team as a whole and shows the sheer degree of professionalism by which both sporting franchises are run. Little wonder they dominate Europe with ease. |
Staro:When you exploit the corrupt you sign up for a vicious cycle of exploitation. Just do what is right and settle the matter once and for all. Why expose yourself to endless blackmail. |
Here they come again, tampering with stuff that clearly shoukd be left in peace....tthen boom a new virus slays a thousand and threatens the world. |
Bubewilson:Turning a residence to a business centre. Why can't he establish a proper pound and do things the right way. Now he wants to incriminate his neighbours because conscience has come calling. He knows he is offensive so the suspicion. I can imagine the racket made by raising dogs for trade. |
Commentor:Why not show us how naked you were in your classes. People just come up to tell all sort of stories thinking others are clowns. Everyone has a tolerance level for self expression or whatever you call it nd the liberties any man should enjoy will always be held in context anywhere in the world. Simply show me the most extreme you have seen or done. |
Focusmind:Oga. Sexual harassment is on the front burner in college business these past few months so you expect that consciousness will remain high for the forseeable future until incidents are brought under control and calm is restored. Everyone in the community wil be looking to protect his position and be sen to take action where possible. When the ill wind has blown over then a nude student can be seen on the laps of a lecturer in his office and no one will bother since that is what you call respect. Like I will always tell one of my Portharcourt friends on the terrible menace of police, SARS and checkpoints that we all dislike the police so ifvwe want them off the streets and out of our faces we will have to appeal to the society to quit committing crime, simple. If lecturers donot take action they will continue to be victims of themselves. Since like I said, our society has decided that 'the offering of a bribe is not a crime, just the taking'. |
dataking:Don't mind them. Saying things they don't know and telling lies along tje way. Who said colleges abroad don't have dress codes and who says university lecturers and high school teachers dont eject students for improper dressing from time to time. They talk as if everyone is emerging from a cave having been locked up since the dinosaurs roamed the earth. |
His class, his rules. Wise men fighting back. That is his threshold for sexual harassment and he has every right to exercise it since society will not hold the female folk responsible in anyway for the ills of wanton sexualisation. It is foolish men that will sneer at this, fall into temptation and cry out when led to prison in chains. |
Hmm...as if the PDP is outstanding in the states it controls. It has performed abysmally in opposition since 2015. |
Correcto:Yes they can. Even MDCAN can barely control its members. They will just walk away from.the job. |
The NUC will not win this one. It doesn't have all the aces. It will only make a bad situation worse. Supply is way below demand at both ends of the spectrum, that is the teeming students to be taught and the teeming patients to be cared for when Nigeria can barely hang onto 1 out of every 2 qualified doctors. If they don't negotiate this one out then the health sector will be severely damaged. There is a pandemic growing round the world at present. The demand for medical professionals will soon explode and nations that are desperate will soon be raiding our moribund hospitals. The NUC doesn'r hold all the aces. It should choose its battles wisely and timely. |
And what is the overwhelming response of a beleaguered. Correct. Read the posts previously then you know why a country can be run down so bad. An indolent citizenry that sees their misfortunes as normal. There is nothing that can be done for such people. |
And should be sentenced to spend his remaining days in prison. Good riddance. |
Over 2,000 people are now confirmed dead, when people mess with nature, mess with animals they have no business with and consider every crawling, creeping, running, climbing, swimming and flying thing on earth food. I guess these ones have not given a thought they could be playing russian roulette with their lives... slow, painful death it may be. |
MrBrownJay1:Thanks for shutting these naysayers up. Sentiment is the bane of the black man. They will never ask questions or seek facts but jump to support skin. Always race conscious yet complain bitterly at home about systemic and wanton criminality that has made their homes unlivable. |
TheApologist:Exactly what I will say. The man is a nut job, but what he said is the truth. Except one is totally crazy. You should know that Nigeria is simply unworkable. A country on a perpetual slide, an irreversible decay, a country that has not seen a better next year since independence is fundamentally broken.... and should be repaired. Even if you lived in a guilded palace for 60 years at some point you will need renovation, reconstruction or maintenance. We just cannot continue like this. |
Stories by a society that worships money not the power of human capital. Most of those complaining will still sell theor democratic franchise for a morsel of pottage. What is the difference. A failed citizenry simply cannot get a proper government that can deliver the dividends of democracy. Just watch every single person that wails and comments negatively... just touch their pet king or emperor and they will tear you apart. |
money121:How is it a nice one. The effect is that hiring staff will become more tedious and the process will be laced with all manner of stiff conditions and hard contract clauses. Banks will become reluctant to hire, period. It bites both ways. A free market hates regulations. You simply cannot legislate your way to prosperity and in this case job security. The CBN should let banks do whatever they have to do to survive within reasonable limits. The CBN shares more responsibility than banks for the poor state of the economy of which the dynamics of the job market are critical factors in play. If the economy is good jobs will be created and secure. Banks donot have the liberty of so called external reserves from crude sales to toy with irresponsibly like the CBN. They are a business not an NGO. If they go under much more people will suffer, |
JasonScoolari:Yep. That's it. If you quivering ypu're probably the parents of that boy who should join him in custody. |
Comedian2019:A better option. I am not a fan of blanket bans. The State can support investors to raise cattle the civilised way and the herdsmenace will.die naturally. |
chariisGRACE:Beef is not cheap anywhere in the south. By the way goat meat it healthier.... but I simply cannot stand the gamey aroma and will not touch it except the meat is heavily sedated... Sorry spiced... Okowa should drive the state to massive animal husbandry since these herdsmen refuse to become cowboys and ranch their beasts. |
