koladebrainiac:....hmmm, and you expected them to admit it abi. Now do we have an EFCC plus. I mean is there a bigger watchdog that watches over the watchdog.... Corruption CAN NEVER END. Even if they did not take a penny. The fact that such is organised in a state who's principal is openly the subject of corruption induced media mudslugs should make the EFCC cancel their participation or urge it be shifted to a different location. What does it do for your image to have your Chairman seated on the same high table with a character potrayed as a dollar stuffed doll. Any banter whatsoever exchanged between the two will be misinterpreted, 'meme-ed' and mocked for a long time to come. Silly people. The international community is not interested in your politics. Our corruption index just ticked a few notches lower. |
How I wish I can generate electricity from this flux. It is reliable and sustainable. In the evening they will be back again. In the morning they will leave again.... in the evening they will... |
Team 'build factories' will be madder than ever... |
If his family and perhaps entire lineage was dependent on his securing a visa 'to study' 'then it is patently obvious the embassy got this one right as the fellow has no abilities to sustain himself there and therefore no intention to perform the tasks for which the visa was sought. Please this is not a topic. This is just the working of a system that actually works. If you cannot take up the 'free education' offer of your government. What business do you have subjecting your family members to such tragic losses on your wild goose chase. Next. |
Please this mercenary company should be silent and stay away from our business. They have no right to dabble into the administrative decisikns behind our internal security framework. If they are engahed they will particioate, if they are disengaged, as professionals they should just end it and go. Insinuating the certain elememts of the military are in contact with them should be investigated and those found out remived from their formations. You simply cannot go round undermining the morale and organisational structures of the military because ypu wamt to 'sell market'. It is highly unprofessional and downright wrong. Medical and sister professionals that deal with grave life amd death issues donot advertise and market their services on ethucal grounds. Security companies likewise. |
Well folks he has a point by default and like so many other critics, are actually saying the truth. The church is indeed the only organisation moving forward with any degree of success and if you are a keen follower of the Christian movement you will realise that: 'The creation (is iindeed) waiting ineager expectation for the manifestation of the sons of God'. When will true Christians, indeed the church realise that the time has come for you to step out of the four walls of the buildings and begin to take charge of the cities and countrysides around you. Non believers are screaming everyday for you to build industries, build roads, achools, hospitals and now even equip their armies. Oh glory, wake up. The nations need you. This is the end time will of God for His people. Stop criticising them. They need you. |
Idolatory will not kill our Nigerian youth sha. See them all shamelessly yapping about people that are meant to serve them. Is the black man cursed or what? When will a man and his wife ever sit down and quarrel over their househelp, because that is what an average mind thinks about them in a sane society. I have never seen or heard where elected politicians are so venerated without shame and caution as it happens in Nigeria. Within 100 days of their ascension they are already scum in the eyes of most citizens of the developed world. Here with their world record failings the people are not even bothered. We are lost at sea in Nigeria... kai. |
MajorJeffery:The laws or will I say edicts are fluid. Even mandatory retirement on grounds of age can be adjusted by military high command if and a big IF operational requirements specify. In summary, if the military is understaffed and demand for operational capacity is high they will make things difficult for soldiers, airmen and sailors to leave. And bring all the laws to back it up. I don't know how far the boko haram crises is stretching the armed forces at the moment but there have been periods during the Obasanjo regime and during the Babangida regime (when I left) when you could retire on the flip of a coin. After Liberia there was a lot of reorganisation and some of my pals and I who were fortumate l to be alive left. I will anticipate it will be hard to.leave now but once this conflict is over the armed forces will find itself over supllied and over manned and will probably nudge people to leave. |
TheGreenLand:Abeg shut up. We are talking about the future you ate talking aboit the soup that went bad last year. What jas that got to do with the hunger today. If it all was saved will it not jave been wasted today. If you don't jave a sound investment culture all the savings in the world is useless. Crude oil to Nigeria is like giving a beggar alms. Find out first why he became a begger and deal with that. He will never ask for another cent. Nigeria does and has never lacked income. We lack ideas of how to take this income and convert it to sustainable investment. With all savings. recoveries, anti corruption of the last four years Nigeria remains broke and a serial borrower to feed its people. Abeg siddon. Has the country suddenly become bigger with more mouths to feed since 2015. |
yomi961:I don't like your name calling and insultive words on the person of the President but the facts stated in the first two paragraphs are sacrosanct and and an apt description of who we are and why we find ourselves here. We Nigerians are much too ignorant to have the qualitative society we so desire. Not standing in for Fayose but what is there to gain from making a deal with one criminal (effectively setting him free) to prosecute another of equal or some will debate lesser stock. From the look of things Obanikoro probably stole more, was a Federal official and his financial crimes had a bigger impact on the nations image. If the EFCC was truly an institution and not just an appendage of this political government then I cannot see how settling with Obanikoro to nail Fayose can be considered to be a 'good deal'. It just smacks of political play. If they want to see how apolitical institutions work then they should look at what is happening to the Trump administration and the crminal justice system of the United States. Unfortunately some will hail this development instead of condemning it in totality. Who is the EFCC to decide who and how to give plea deals. It is the people that set the threshold of tolerance for government actions. Ultimately it is the people that have set Obanikoro free with his loot. It is the people that have ruined and are still ruining Nigeria. In saner climes there will be protests and even riots at this news we have heard today. |
Topmaike007:Not allowed in UK footy. His Oga Ancelotti had to do with Bazooka Joe... ![]() |
Only Guardiola appears to have the secrets of the most entertaining league in the world. |
Adeitanajoke:Shut the hell up. What has the military got to do with the 'ruling party'. Is it the Nigerian military or the APC military. Stupid politicians hiding under the banner of civil society. As if Nigerians are not losing their husbands and sons and should not question what is going on there. The present government rode to power on a claim of mismanagement of the war effort three years ago and then serving officers and their civilian collaborators are being prosecuted. If those failings still exist Nigerians have the right to know and have an obligation to voice them out. I just don't understand what continues to pique this government about things currently being revealed that it has actively done in the past. Failure is failure and should be universally rejected. Let us understand the problems so Nigerians can actively solve them. |
Abi oh.... |
Said enough about this tragedy. It has no military only solution. |
MrMurphy:Give us a time limit because the constitution says 4 years. In their wisdom the authors envisage that within 4 years a government either justifies its successes or confirms its failings. Of course the constitution recognises there will be bad governments so if your analogy about building harder than breaking stands then the constitution will have said so and indicated that if a subsequent government ascends to power it should be given 'bad tenure x1.5 years... or x1.8 years.... or x2 years.... )No sir democracy does not work that way. Listen good now to gain understanding of the secrets of democracy you have never heard before. The term limits ARE NOT GIVEN TO THE GOVERNMENT TO PERFORM OR NOT. The Constitution objectively gives term limits... TO THE PEOPLE TO DECIDE WHETHER THEY HAVE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE in order to continue or change their munds for another government. The Constitution is a document for the people, should be by the people. So it does nothing to favour governments. Rather it tasks governments and gives the people a choice to asses their choices and electoral decisions every four years. Perhaps if Nigerians were this knowledgeable in thepast we will not have had 16 years of the PDP. So you must understand that the APC will not be given equal time to succeed or fail as the PDP. Folks are getting smarter. The bar is far higher. |
Well sir performance has time limits in every walk of life. You don't expect me to be in primary school for ten years and anyone will take my academic prospects seriously. For you guys the threshold is shorter because you are all renowned liars. |
Prove it. Bring the relevant documents. |
Looks good in his club soccer clips but our pace of play is way below those so we don't expect the same effectiveness. |
buhariguy:In a functional democracy if this statement of yours is official it is enough to get someone sacked. There are laws mandating full disclosure especially when it comes to expending public funds for the public good. Hear me well. IT IS ILLEGAL TO EXPEND PUBLIC FUNDS WITHOUT APPROPRIATION. IT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE anywhere in the world. The NNPC has no right to pay sums to subsidise, stabilize, trade-iin... or any other colorful word you wish to use without legislative approval, period. The NNPC cannot be bigger than the laws that guide its operations. Issues of petroleum availability and pricing are key national issues that go beyond the NNPC to affect our national security, developmemt, the greater economy, investments and all these issues have been debated for decades in this country. We as a people should know the implications of what government spends and what is costs to maintain certain prices. It is our money. The NNPC is not a private organisation. |
buhariguy:If the NNPC was your personal company and you sacked the former manager for massive corruption and you are now hearing this.... illegal withdrawal for 'under recovery'.... whatever that is, what exactly will you do...? |
richidinho:At least in the past they admitted to paying subsidy. The admission led to scrutiny. The scrutiny led to the detection of massive corruption. Now there is no admission of subsidy, thoughtless of scrutiny (see as they have been hiding and playing hardball). So what do we expect that has happened to funds used secretly.... |
seunmsg:Hmmmm.... indeed 'managed the dividends better' aka beauty contest between the Jonathan administration and the Buhari administration that is the hallmark of failures. And this is so because of failed promises about doing things differently, about anti corruption, about accountability, about honesty. So the present thieves want to justify themselves based on the stealing of the former thieves and that is why they ventured accounts since 1999. For your information the former government was voted out for being corrupt. Nothing that will be shown about that regime will move anyone anymore. We know they were super corrupt. What we want to know is how far THIS GOVERNMENT has gone in fulfilling its promise of a CHANGE. And now that the eiection cycle has come round, Nigerians will be faced with the same choices they did in 2015. There is no hiding. This government should stand up to be counted. We are not doing 'better than'. We are doing right or wrong. Better than fail is pass.... still not good enough. |
persius555:There is no conspiracy anywhere. The lines of communication in the military ensures that. Lives are at stake here and if there was a conspiracy it will be detected as quickly as coups and mutinies, very quickly. The fact is that assymetric warfare is very hard to combat. A guerilla fighter may pass an army formation dressed as a civilian and totally unarmed by day only to return in full military fatigues, fully armed and ready for combat by night. Nogerians should realise that our troops are fighting on our soil against basically renegade NIGERIANS. It is virtually impossible to tell one renegade Nigerian from a civil citizen and when you throw in the strong passion of religion and its fanaticism, it becomes doubly hard. That is why this campaign has to be wholistic, a joint venture beyween civilians and the military, the carrot of reformation with the stick of internal security. The destructive ideological narrative of Boko Haram must be deliberately countered before any real progress can be made. |
You did not have enough weapons and munitions so exactly what did the Boko Haram fighters take away. Doesn't add up. |
Xander85:Exactly. Ask them if any one of the other two major tribes could have gone 50 years in the political history of Nigeria without representation at the highest level and not questioned the relevance of corporate Nigeria. The Abiola stolen mandate was a major security event in Nigeria in the mid nineties and the rest of the country saw in it the need to give the southwest the highest office to appease that. The West then ruled for 8 years but instead of going to the east by fair game the discourse shifted to a north-south rotation. By sheer providence power returned quickly to the south, not the south east but the south south. The north again kicked after just one term and have taken power back and by all accounts the northwest will retain it again. So it appears whether power goes to the north or comes to the south, the south east always finds itself sold short and has to settle for the role of supporting other regions to power, in 1993, 1999 to 2007, in 2011 and now for 2019. Supporting every other region but never getting supported for the highest office and when folks complain or want out it becomes a cardinal sin and the east is viewed as divisive and intolerant. This country simply does not have a conscience. And in its unfortunate state cannot make any meaningful progress this way. |
Mynd44:Exactly what I wanted to ask. You simply cannot insulate yourself from the society you create. Like this administation's penchant for abusing the rule of law and undermining institutions which will surely haunt its principals in thefuture, Jonathan is being aflicted by the same corruption and nefaripus activities he completely ignored or treated with kids gloves. Surely the crap comes around. |
Not only grilled, he should be roasted. Disaster of a governor. Left Abia in a mess making it next to impossible to develop in the short term. |
NessaBoo:You are not hateful, just ignorant. If not how does dismissing a good idea (except if you donot feel it is good) benefit you as a person or society in general. Look around you. Nigeria is crying for ideas in every aspect of life and if it takes the friction of political desperation to generate the idea so be it. We should encourage that not dismiss them as frivolous. Why can't the public as individuals or in cooperation be involved in helping our troops in this sad conflict. Is it a sin. Now if (and not that I think so) Atiku gets elected, isn't this one promise to hold him to account. If he doesn't get elected, isn't this one free advice the incumbent government will get to better its administration. Think man, think. Whatever you donot respect cannot be attracted to you. It is a law of nature. Disrespect ideas and the law of nature will guarantee wide spread ignorance in the land. That is what you see in Nigeria today and you know ignorance is the father of poverty, sickness, conflict and every social malaise. You had better change your mind and Nigeria had better encourage its leaders to speak up so that we can hear and debate their ideas. No one knows it all. This government thought its core mandate of anti corruption was the silver bullet to development. Almost four years down we are exactly where we were before it came in. NO ONE KNOWS IT ALL. |
sekundosekundo:Its not hatred just crass ignorance. The black man can simply not strain himself to exercise any intellectual acumen whatsoever. Always drawn to individials and personalities, never realising the facts, positions, reasons, understanding, benefits... nothing. Smart minds on the other hand will pause to consider, weigh, accept what is right and good or discard whatis wrong and bad. Covering the face of Atiku, what is wrong and bad about what he said.... there they lose the whole plot. That is why Nigeria remains comatosed. Prince Harry has the Invictus Games to honour all soldiers maimed by recent conflicts (and all recent global conflicts have all centered around what Nigeria faces today, Islamic extremism). The next thing you will ask, is there a way to tie in our establishments, our armed forces, our troops to this global initiative so that the world recognises what we pass through and in solidarity come to our aid to the benefit of the men and women in the north east. That is how ideas that bring about progress are borne but small, hardened, blackened minds cannot see beyond the failed status quo. |
AfonjaBoston:Look, you these naysayers of little understanding. This is what democracy is all about. And this is how advanced democracies work to the benefit of the people. When the time for power to change hands the friction the contest generates usually brings about the berth of fresh ideas on how to move nations forward. The setting up of a national endowment fund itowards our brave men and women is a fresh idea coming at the highest levels purposed to lifting the morale of our troops and making them more effective in their duties, period. Atiku cannot lose or win based on this idea, it is the nation that will ultimately benefit from it. So if your small minds cannot see the value in political debates and the generation of ideas then you simply donot deserve a functional government. Nigerians have not even begun to put pressure on their government concerning the conflict in the north east and people are talking nonsense. Americans openly protested the participation of their military in Vietnam and at the risk of losing at the polls the Democrats pulled out the troops. It is simply a good idea opportuned in the season of politics. Many of such fruits of wisdom will appear between now and election day, it is up to the election winner to implement them. Days ago he proposed privatising the NNPC. A lot of folks disagreed. Today we hear dodgy contracts being illegally issued by the same organisation doubtlessly at the cost to 'taxpayers'. Sane folks will recall the new offer and debate it. Foolish 'sentimentalists' have discarded it. I don't know of any other way democracy is expected to work other than this and it is clear that a system of checks and balances, of ideas and debates simply cannot work in Nigeria and for Nigerians because they are not mentally capable of seeing it. Pity. |
