Nigerian youth have lost the ability to reason beyond emotions.

Here is a very influential man in APC who is facing a serious corruption charge and has been denied any form of reprieve against this case.

Buhari has not interfered despite him being an APC man but wants to allow the law take its course.

Yet in Benue they are accusing Buhari of interfering in opposition politics when he hasn't even interfered in his own party politics.

All these wailers yaba left was built specifically for your kind.
Indeed he travelled to Togo with the disgraced Finance Minister....indeed he doesn't interfere....

Everyone is going political as a hallmark of this administration. Next we will see him with an 'APC' or 'Vote Buhari' pin on his stripes..... What is his business with politicians or the profession of any criminal for that matter. His reference is irrelevant and silly. A law officer should rise above that.

Napoli president is only jealous and clueless. I remember when florentino perez bought CR7 he said the most expensive players are usually the cheapest. Madrid made more than 70% of his cost from his unveiling and sales of jersey in the first year. Remember the club gets a certain percentage from his endorsement. Juventus have already made over 50 million euros from the sale of jersies and the stock of the club has increased. At the end of the day juventus will make more profits than the his purchase price. No wonder napoli they lag behind juve for decades.
Exactly.

But his commercial value has already repaid half the transfer fee even before the season starts. And he usually earns more off the field every year than on it. At the end Juventus has only provided seed money, Ronaldo's game and image isthe long term earner. Juve tus will not spend a net dollar on him.

Can this government just focus on its mandate of governing this country for goodness sake. What is all this nonsense. Is this the first time primary officers of the Legislature have changed parties. PDP went to war against Tambuwal and others and were rightly comdemned by all and sundry including the present party in power. You will have expected them to do better but they are only worse in all ramifications. Just fed up.

I just want to ask seriously. FFK has been seen and heard overtly supporting IPOB and for that reason we've seen a lot of people from the SE supporting him.

My question then is, would FFK still actively support and promote the secession of SE from Nigeria should PDP emerge victorious in 2019 and do these people really believe he has genuine intentions about their course?
I suspect the PDP will be more conciliatory, less confrontational than this government. And this will douse the highest of tensions.... If the PDP can win at the polls which is highly unlikely and in my opinion not very desirable.

They will still have to buy content and there the cookie crumbles. We are living in a global age with attendant mixing of cultures and pursuits. If your cable company cannot show the premiership, CNN or Telemundo, you are out of business in a whisper. The only solution to global competition is to raise the living standards of a peoples of a country to meet amd compete globally. We simply complain because we are dirt poor. The rest of the world is ready to pay Lionel Messi, LeBron James, Anthony Joshua, Kim Kardashian and Richard Quest more and more money. That is why you are broke. Nothing upstairs. So you will do boyfriend till your time on earth is done while others develop themselves with the little resources they have to become mighty women in their communities and secure their legacies for generations to come.

Folks, there is nothing material about wealth and poverty. It is purely mental. How one uses the resources and another squanders same. We are all given opportunity at one time or the other in life. It takes wisdom to detect if this is the last opportunity before the heavenly confirmation that this lass is done.

Of course the media needs regulation but in a tense political atmosphere such as ours, regulatory actions will always be subjective and open to interpretation. That is why the courts are there and these media houses should exploit them to push back against regulatory over reach.

Having said that it is clear the AIT is an opposition leaning media house just as TVC is a government leaning one. Every country has its FOX and CNN from the UK to Australia. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with that. I think our government should rise beyond the old colonial and military rule thinking that the media should always be pro government.

You hear Ministers of Information (such a portfolio has no place in a modern democracy) say the mass media is meant for 'social cohesion' which actually means unified thinking, which in reality is more akin to a socialist or communist setting than a liberal democracy in which divergent views should be accommodated as highways of development.

So the rules should be made to reflect that. A presenter should and can have and can take a position on any matter. I don't buy the idea that all media houses and all presenters MUST be unbiased. Our democracy can never grow that way. They can express their own thoughts as long as they are not unconstitutional or criminal. If they are libelous then the mefia house will simply pay the price in court. QED.

I have been expecting this comment.

What has OBJ got to do with this case of forgery that is before a court of Law in this country? Are you insinuating that the guy should not be prosecuted because he is related to OBJ?

The trend now is every thief that is been prosecuted or is invited for questioning is now going all over the social media using paid agents or fools like you to give it a political/tribal/religious colourations.

When are we going to allow Law enforcement agents do their work without insinuating political/tribal/religious persecution?

When APC politicians from the North are prosecuted and jailed, none of you fools have the guts to congratulate the Law enforcements agents for a job well done.
And I was expecting this kind of reply. What most sensible folks expect is that any corruption fight should be institutionalized if not it will always carry a political coloration. And when people in authority want to prove their hands are clean they spread the pursuit round and subject their members, friends and even family to the same standara as others.

Every month since this government was sworn in there has been one major scandal or the other involving senior elected and appointed officials of which NONE, ABSOLUTELY ZERO has gone to court and a successful trial. The only dismissal was Babachir Lawal and this was done after prolonged and incessant pressure by the public.

If this is how you raise your family as a disciplinarian you will never convince an outsider and never be able.to claim such in public. The regimes of Obasanjo, Yaradua and Jonathan with all the corruption associated with them did a better job at house cleansing than this government. That is a fact.

Such that when next the road is awarded a two foot wide gutter will be shoddily constructed on a road that goes down hill. Elementary physics should tell the idots that designed and built that road that all downhill drains in built up areas must be completely sealed because water going downhill will tend to arch and most of it will be ejected and erode the immediate surroundings. That is why practically every highway in Nigeria with an incline of more than 20% has failed or is failing.

But how will folks know this when they are busy squabbling to demand better returns for their tax naira.

Oga its not about tax collected by the federal government the sea port management is on the exclusive list of the federal government, what we are talking about is the direct and indirect development that the business activities in these sea ports will bring to host communities.
Don't mind them and the fact that intercity transportation is expensive so folks decide to locate businesses and industries close to the ports to make their products and services competitive. If what was happening in the oil industry was to be replicated in water transport, the pipeline to the Kaduna refinery will be equivalent to dredging the Niger from the coast to Kaduna to allow ships through. If successive governments all these decades had invested more in ports than in crude oil production and transportation the economy will be far bigger, diverse and resilient than it is today.

The only thing you do is expose your ignorance.

Lagos is the Capital market and the capital market is Lagos. That is what determines the Nigerian economy. The concentration of money in Lagos has nothing to do with the ports

In your bitterness you think it is the ports that make Lagos.

So Nigerian economy is down to imports?
How are those imports paid for?

No one can borrow 1 billion or more from any bank without sealng the deal in Lagos.
No major insurance deal happens outside Lagos.

Billions of Naira worth of Shares change hands daily in Lagos. Over 80% of manufacturing is in Lagos and Ogun State?

What Ambode is telling them is your Apapa Port is a burden to us and you are sharing the money in ABuja

But investors do not care. Another port is loading at Lekki and maybe Apapa
And what makes the overall economy, is it not oil. Is oil found and produced in Lagos as well. Why couldn't Lagos save Nigeria and even itself when oil prices fell. Four companies and one product accounts for 70 percent of our GDP. That is Shell, Agip, Chevron and Mobil and the product is oil. Remove that from the economic equation and you won't even have a country thoughtless of an economy. The reason why Lagos is even competing with Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta and Bayelsa is just down to politics, the kind of politics that has resisted restructuring so far.

Restructure Nigeria, devolve powers to the states, decouple the economy and watch as the GDP of Lagos will contract by 50 percent in the short term before hunger kickstarts proper diversification. There is nothing special about the economy of Lagos as long as the price of crude oil determines our reserves, our exchange rate, and our GDP.

Indeed now that Lagos in drowning in a sea of cargo and the liability has exceeded the opportunities. Sounds more like a cry for help than a statement of reason and liberalism. When the child hands you back the hot cup of cocoa it is so that you can share in the misery and perhaps find a solution and not to fill your belly . That he will continue to struggle for. What is happening in Apapa is typical of shortsightedness and greed.
Business › Re: CBN Continues Tightening Measures by Reference(m): 8:03am On Jul 26, 2018
We seriously need to expand and eventually decouple the private sector from the government's financial system. Government remains a dead weight to long term, sustainable economic progress. They are the primary source of inflation, having so much unproductive capital moving around looking for who to waste it. My economic theory remains valid. You simply cannot have inflation in purely private sector economics.

Look at the abandoned aircraft service hangar project in Akwa Ibom on the other thread for example. These are the sources of inflation and capital flight where you spend (especially scarce foreign exchange) without productive returns. If on the other hand the centre was in use, generating revenue, keeping jobs, saving capital flight and reducing the long term demand for foreign exchange in overseas maintainance of aircraft then it certainly will not contribute to inflation but reduce it.

Only the private sector by nature is able to bring such levels of economic efficiency and that is why legislation should be made to decouple the private sector from the government's economic coat-tails by devolving powers and aggressively pursuing privatisation and liberalisation of economic activities.
