With the rains come more turbulent waterways and more deaths from drowning. From Sokoto to Rivers....we need proper legislation to develop water transport as a safe and viable means. |
Though I am in a conundrum on this Akpabio matter as I think the broadening of the political space in Akwa Ibom will create the necessary competition to make democracy work for the people, but I am totally against defections because non ideological politics is non functional. Folks should rather remain and fight for ideals. But I totally abhor his claimed reasons for defecting. 'Taking your people to the "centre"' for poverty alleviation is insulting to your present office and to the senses of well meaning, patriotic Nigerians who yearn for restructuring and devolution of powers, ideals which as a senator you should be fighting for. It is the Federal government that should be chasing you, wooing you for taxes, not the other way round, not your assertion where the centre shares out peanuts, seeds of poverty. If this is what the APC represents and the ideals you see in them then you have actually retrogressed. In time to come your legacy will be such that you led your people back to Egypt. |
NOC1:Oga, stop running around trying to skew issues. We are not children and some of us have had the privilege of serving this country in uniform. The primary responsibility of security agencies is to protect the integrity of the country and this is only possible by ensuring the interests of government are protected. And we all know that government means the Executive and the Executive means the President who appoints all the Heads of Security Agencies. I will not even speak about the fact that the man is related to the President so his personal interests lie with protecting his 'brother'. Why will he do anything else than to protect those interests. From past military and civilian governments we know that the Head of the DSS will be the third closest person to the President after his ADC and Chief of Staff and in some cases feels the pulse of the President even closer than his Vice. |
Go sleep in the tub Mister. Lazy man. If you work hard enough and are fagged out every night even a nuclear explosion won't stir you. |
It is just terrible what is happening in the polity. Some destructive things going on now will take several administrations to repair. So unfortunate. |
Now a section of Nigerians say that the Senate President is in control of the DSS....how can these folks be so retarded. The man isnot in the same party and is not in the same arm of government of those who control the organisation. Honestly, Nigerians are too dull to create the kind of country they long for. I say this without reservation. We are jusy not bright enough to succeed in developing this country. Shame. |
Go to court Mr Ortom. This is a democracy. If the APC had faint hopes of retaining Benue at the polls, the vindictivness of the government may have quashed all that now. Not smart. Same bad things the PDP was accused of, the APC appears determined to surmount. |
Best news I've heard in decades. Hopefully one day the oil industry will be as relevant as the furniture making industry, just another basis point in the GDP of Nigeria. A situation where just one company Shell Petroleum feeds three out of every ten civil servants, builds five out of every ten kilometres of roads and buys six out of every ten bullets shot in anger against Boko Haram is not only strategically diagraceful but is one of the reasons why we are perpetually poor as a nation. |
We thought the Jonathan regime was bad... but this regime is setting new standards for misgovernance. Its so shameful....honestly....just speechless. What is the penalty for attempting to overthrow a government again....what is the judgment for treason. The National Assembly needa to get to the bottom of this and someone should pay. |
If you can trek across the Sahara, swim across the Mediterranean and the English channel you might just make it to London on time to meet Baba's doctor and probably fly presidential back....goodluck....this message will self destruct in five seconds.... |
Every year, corpers put themselves in harms way doing things at ill opportuned periods of their lives and pay the ultimate price. When will someone wake up and realise what life is all about. When you labour so long to develop an asset. If you truly value it you keep it in the straight and narrow. That is why a wise man once said, if you shared the wealth of the world equally amongst all inhabitants, it is just a matter of time before it returns to where it was. Some will just throw theirs all away.... |
SojiCash:Pally, the state will prove its 'usefullness' or 'usemoreness' at the next polls. If it votes in the APC in that state again then the uselessness of the people will be proven and confirmed. It is the people that voted Amosun in without a chain of accountability around his neck. It was them who empowered him in the first place. They deserve whatever name they are called by. |
Though I am totally against defections but I think it is important that the political space is broadened by serious competition amongst political heavyweights. It is good for the people of Akwa Ibom. The incumbent governor will have no option than to turn to the people who may not have elected him to serve them as democracy should work rather than serve an individual called political godfather. All other states governed like monarchies or autocracies such as those of the delta, states of the southwest and especially Kwara state should prove democracy works for the people alone and can bring genuine dividends by broadening the political space. |
Sarri, welcome to the English game.... |
I think the English league should prepare for another long reign of domination by the other, the blue half of Manchester. A dynasty is being formed here. |
When we said Goodluck Jomathan was the best President Nigeria ever had, the reasons are becoming more evident by the day. At the end of it all posterity will speak. ...and we said it even before the last count of the ballot when it was clear it was all over. |
sureheaven:Well for a start she should say, 'change begins with me, so I will resign office and visit the nearest police station to report myself...' ....abi is her 'London' training and background restricted to cockney phonetics alone. Didn't they train her on how to resign when indicted. |
semyman:Indeed I tell you. Corruption is not the foremost challenge in Nigeria but structure. Everyone condones it, excuses it and accepts it. In Nigeria, corruption is defined as what the other man does that I am jealous about especially when it appears he gets away with it. So Kemi's corruption is okay as long as is perpetuated in this government because bigger news making, mind boggling stories are out there. |
But in three and ahalf years he has not weeded out anything. All attempts has been on a regime long gone. Corruption has simply moved residence and he's still delivering mail at the old address. |
Tastes are a function of background so such comparisons are subjective. I grew up almost exclusively on a western diet and could only tolerate Nigerian cuisine when I attended boarding school. Still donot like the puddings, so called 'swallow', cannot tolerate slimy soups and donot like the gamey smell of meats and fish the way they are prepared by most. In other words, I just tolerate Nigerian food. To me, we donot know how to eat properly.... but its all subjevtive. |
Indeed. The stadium belongs to the people. The government is just a custodian of their collective wealth. That is the way things should be in a normal society. The APC should go to court and if they don't win, protest. |
mybestlove:Actually Italian engines are just wack. The Lamborghini series amongst other Italian marquee brands did not get any decent level of reliability until they were bought over by the Volkswagen group and started spotting VW engines. The FIATs have zero second hand value right from time for that reason, unreliable engines. |
I don't think it is realistic to categorise automoblies according to countries they originate as almost every aspect of development and production takes place on the international stage. Even ownership of popular brands have adopted an global face. |
All will be underwater in 50 years so it is only good for speculative investments in the medium term. Plenty of other opportunities elsewhere. Not very attractive to me. |
Nice one. Good job. Always looking forward to positive developments in Lagos and other parts sorely needing them. |
Hahahaha....did he drop the poor little mit in a tub of hydrochloric acid.. .. ![]() |
1miccza:Of course I am bulky. I weigh over 200 pounds. Do I sound like a joke. But I still won't touch that thing. |
I will prepare to see my doctor in the morning. These things just knock me off. Hygiene is a problem everywhere. If its not factory made then I pass please. Seafood is very sensitive to spoiling and some of these mongers only smoke them when it cannot be sold fresh and then the smoking itself is only skin deep enabling the bacteria wear hard hats and thermal jackets. |
If Fayemi likes he can bog down his administration staring at the rearview mirror. His legacy will be equally as lost as that of his party. |
Totally agree that Nigeria deserves better but it would have been better if you had remained in the system, in the party to right the wrongs. It is much harder to effect change from without than it is within. Most great empires of history were undermined by changes, rebellion, within than were defeated on the battle grounds of neutrality. |
deomelo:So how did Buratai acquire his own mansions in Dubai, abi military man no be civil servant again. His wages are even easier to estimate since he enlisted. Abeg spare me the anti corruption nonsense. Institutionalise it and see whether there will be any government left. Just wasting their time and soiling their legacy. |
Afamed:Hmmm so defection dey pain abi....iit was sweet in 2014 oh.... |
