Fash20:Life in Nigeria is harsh my dear but only us can cgange that. No one else. If my college degree cannot bring about socuak cyange and I cannot solve a problem like that depicted, my 'certificate' is useless and I am not worth the amounts government spent in subsidising my education, so I am angry about these things everyday waking day. |
And yet will be insulting private universities as glorified secondary schools. Is OAU not a glorified medium security prison then. Government has no business running universities. The production of graduates is and should be a business venture involving investments and expected returns then we will get it right. University education is not and will never be a social service. The responsibility of government should end at basic education so that value is properly generated and a country is operating at its optimun capacity. A situation where a government will expend billions to raise graduates without getting a commensurate return by engaging them in productive ventures from which it can recover its investment through taxation is bound to bankrupt even the biggest reserve. Today because of free higher education the vastly superior fields of apprenticeship, practical skills aquisition, indigenous technology development which all are the building blocks of modern economies have gone to rot in Nigeria, slayed on the altar of non functional certificates from institutions that produce gradutaes who when lucky will work under the supervision of apprentices and technicians from abroad, consume foreign goods and services made by apprentices in industry abroad and pay them handsomely too while they sink deeper and deeper in poverty. The picture above is symptomatic of a failed system. A potential graduate complaining about not being able to enjoy a service he should be finding a solution to. The government is investing so much in you to find solutions to the problems besetting this country not complain about them. What are you a potential graduate for then.... wasted investment. College education is highly overrated in Nigeria. |
Winter has come to Real Madrid. Organisation 101. You donot let you best asset go or watch your most important asset declinebefore effdcting a back up. And like all organisations, the signs were there and clear, Ronaldo has been angling to leave for almost five seasons.....why hasn't the club developed an alternate asset all these while. Ronaldo was not just a good player but his reputation brought out the best in others and caused doubt in the camp of his opponents. I can't see how they will survive ghus is the near term. Big games require big game players and Ramos' goal proved that..... that he is the only big game player left. Unfortunately he is at the wrong end of the pitch to win matches. |
Knew this decades ago but my problem is....what happens in the event of a plane crash. Is the sewage tank as hardy as the black boxes or will 1000 gallons of poo break up over my favourite pizza joint. Anyway we are told that leaks do occur from time to time so please folks if a plane flies overhead, donot.....I repeat donot gaze up, jaw dropped in awe or risk consuming blue ice...and if you live close to an airport, those weekend garden barbecues may be more hazardous than you think.... |
SuperS1Panther:No sir. The failure of Nigerians to match their behaviour with their expectations. When we collectively decided we preferred quantity over quality. |
Things we knew twenty years ago and began to speak about fifteen years ago and protest about a decade ago is what the government is just realising. That when a man and woman agree to bear half a dozen children and expects to school them to a college degree paying just a hundred thousand naira and expecting the government to pay the balance for qualitative education is just a recipe for national bankruptcy. |
By 2019 every one will be demystified, simple. Today the sacked DSS boss is found witg his finger in rhe cookie jar to the tune of billions...so if he didn't raid the NA... he will be there like the IG... like the Army chief.. .like the Minister of Defence....like the Interior Minster.... and on and on...all corrupt.... So we are to thank the NA for fighting the government's anti corrpution war and exposing elements they themselves cannot singlehandedly weed out. |
hacmond:Okay lads....carry on. |
Exactly how is this a Nigeria problem. This is Nairaland not Sengaland |
Infrastructural works like these takes very long to complete especially where it integrates into very dense urban areas and unfortunately for Nigeria the logistics of interfacing with Federal Infrastructure. That is why projects like these should have started decade ago when the technology was available. But lack of vision and foresight amongst out past leaders has truncated development. Lagosians should bear with themselves and wait patiently for progress. It is like a middle aged man who missed school in his youth and wants to acquire a complete college education before his retirement. The urge may be there but the obstacles are massive so he has to be patient. |
Asour:It cuts across all service sectors. Nigerians generally donot pay properly for services. And it has a terrible deflationary effect on the economy and leads to this vicious cycle of mediocrity. That is why the middle class is virtually nonexistent and formal education is non functional. Graduates everyday, yet no productivity, no innovation. And aAmost all foreign investors I know have that complaint. |
He doesn't attend to Nigerians. They don't pay enough for his services. What is the problem with that. There are several businesses that have select clients. I offer services and select my clients. Nobody can force me to work for them. It is my business, period. They should channel their angst against those they pay taxes to yet refuse to offer appropriate services. To bring racism into this is just wrong. They went there because they smelt the euphoria of having a foreigner offer them a servoce and if it had gone as planned they will neon social media saying so. Once more Nigerians destroy Nigerian businesses by not willing to pay properly, his first statement and it is telling. |
MissRaine69:Hmmm....if I am five and a half feet tall I certainly will not become a star pro basketballer. If I weighed 80 pounds befire sixth grade I will kill a lot of horses in an attempt to become a successful show jumper but there is something about the mind that almost everyone and anyone can develop to such a capacity to become extraordinarily successful. It has no practical limitations except that which we set for it. The lady in question will not becone Miss World, Miss Nigeria or even Miss Mistake so why bother with a venture that is practically worthless. Folks should sleep abd wake their dreams not their survival. |
generationz:Right. Just don't make it a lifetime ambition. I am sure my mum has more pressing priorities today than the surface of her skin. Thoughts concerning her legacy and would yearn to roll back the years to do what was more important. Such are the experiences of us all. The ability to put things in proper context and scale is an art lost on a lot of folks. |
generationz:Shiny skin for what purpose ....are you a solar panel. Folks, spend money amd time on what creates real value, will last a lifetime and will enhance the fortunes of your generations coming...not these purposeless, vain, temporary things. Donot waste your time investing in depreciating assets. Angela Merkel is as plain as they come but the stuff between her ears is dripping with legacy. |
A 'friend" that cannot be communicated to is no friend. What is tue real relationship between both of you. Are you sure he has nothing on you....indeed I'm listening to Bruno Mars right now.... |
Promote your income rather than your expenditure. The former has better social footprint. |
HungerBAD:Then you are an insignificant financial player and the general advice does not apply. The warning is for people engaged in ventures and businesses that require regular financial transactions. |
Yet again I reiterate. By 2019 everyone will be demystified...and know the truth that under this structure corruption CAN NEVER END. Once again corruption in Nigeria is defined as 'what the other man is doing'. In Jonathan's time the talk was that stealing was not corruption, in this regime it has morphed to 'forgery is not corruption'. When Ms Madueke was stripping the treaaury we did warn that she be let go and that it would become an albatross around the neck of that regime, it turned out to be. Then folks were in support of her saying she was doing a fantastic job reforming the petroleum industry. Fast forward today and in the same spirit of expediency only possible under this structure as folks now excuse forger Kemi because of the 'great job she is doing in reforming the economy'. Under this structure there will always be an excuse for the base reasons we remain a third world, hapless nation. That is why more than the hopeless, time and resource wasting quest to rid the nation of corruption this government is pursuing it should rather reform.the way this country works such that governance is detached from politics, institutions are detched from government and the people made to rise to their responsibilities of choosing the standards and ethics by which they live and exist together. What moral right does this government have to pursue any other case of high level forgery or corruption if it mishandles this. The battle is lost, short and simple. |
The attending picture though. That looks like a copy of my old 105mm howitzer being towed by that APC. Had many fun days and tragic memories with her. But c'mon Nigeria this was many, many years ago. Surely we should have upgraded to more powerful and precision equipment by now. |
buhariguy:It is okay na. He is gone, he is gone. Why all this bile. What is the matter. Calm down. It is only politics, not life and death, haba. |
damola1:And the grammatical errors too. Obviously a rushed report, symptomatic of the spontaneous way his department and indeed the government is run. Shame. |
Mynd44:Another example of the misunderstanding about the institution of marriage. God is the author of marraige. He created woman to aid in the fulfillment of the purpose of man. Every other reason why people get married is based on a faulty premise and is bound to have in built damaging stresses. Call it love. Call it procreation, call it business. These are not the primary reasons for marraige. A woman in a man's house is there for only one reason, to partner him to fulfill the mission God has given him. When this principle is in place then love can develop necessary to handle the pressures of the mission God has given, then children can come to guarantee the sustenance and fulfilment of the mission God has given where this mission exceeds the lifespan of the man and on and on. The fact is when both partners see the existential reasons for the institution in the first place both will be on board to their optimum abilities. Selfishness, the bane of most marriages exists in unprincipled and non functional relationships. |
Orla234:In that case the man will be there and will see the dangers of having another child and if he is reasonable will change his plans. There is nothing you agree at courtship that is set in stone. The basis of settling marital matters in courtship is to have a framework or bilateral understanding of how things will work. It is unilateralism in relationships that destroy them not the articles of agreement specifically and this applies all relationships not just marital ones. Business agreements, employment agreements, even tenancy agreements all stand or fall on this premise. When you hear the popular word 'let us meet', or 'come for a meeting' or 'schedule a meeting', it means unilateral issues which could affect working relationships have a chance of being averted. Courtship does not put an end to the continual conversation between couples necessary for the sustenance of healthy relationships....'my dear can we talk...my body is failing and I think I will not be able to handle another...'. What is wrong with that. |
SolutionMee:Even if this is a joke or satire, please remove this post. It is plainly disgusting. |
kindnyce:....'holding simultaneously with'... |
But c'mon what is going on ahead of this post, the usual childish political rants for and against this government. Can we separate governance from politics for once and reason like adults. I believe the presidency or leadership of this country far outweighs roads and rail lines, airports and school buildings. I believe the leadership of Nigeria goes to folks who can fundamentally change the face, the structure of Nigeria to ensure its long term survival, viability and prosperity. That is the ultimate measure of success and we should be looking for people who can think out of the box to achieve that. It is on revord that as the decades have rolled by physical infrastructure delivery has continued to decline in real terms. What was built during Gowon's regime, Obasanjo could not match What was built during OBJ's's regime, Shagari could not match, what Shagari achieved IBB could not muster. And on and in it went through Abacha, the OBJ presidency to the Yaradua/GEJ tenure. One term of this government is almost up and we should be shouting halleluyah in context? Haba, that is poor but in the circumstance we welcome any improvement, investment which impacts positively on the economy.... but this alone cannot and should not define the leadership.of his country. Nigeria is much, much more than that. |
Good job. Morw grease to their elbows.... And steel to their resolve ![]() |
Even Hollywood is not this daring. This should be x-rated. |
Elder001:Donot generalize your weaknesses. Not everyone is careless or unreasonable. An ex is an ex and except the ex breaks into your apartment and rapes you at gun point what exactly will make both of you cross paths again. Weak minded and weak willed people roaming around peoples peaceful lives causing havoc. |
If this report is true then it indicates corruption is still very much alive in this government.... only kept in the cupboard by solidarity. They better handle him well lest he squeals on all of them. I'm sure the detention was till now was debrief him properly and cut deals on government secrets. |
The Legislature of any democracy in any country is always hyper active. It represents the trading floor of democracy so Donald should take note. It is for this reason we jettisoned the parliamentary system of government which is a hybrid of the executive and legislature as being too disruptive. I have always said it that an active Legislature is critical to the founding of democracy. I am not for a dull, tepid rubber stamp to the Executive or to the people they represent. I consider the roke of the Executive as that of raising the polity ans that of the Legislature as broadening of the polity ans anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of statics knows that it is dangerous to advance upwards without a commensurate widening of the base of any structure and any structural engineer will tell you this simole truth..... Broaden the base first before anything else. |
