Who will bet that they have not found a way round BVN and are awakening their own ghosts in the thousands. I've been hearing about ghost workers and exorcisms since the eighties and I will hear about then in 2019 or in the next regime which ever comes first. My bet is that Mrs. Kemi is stealing millions as we speak. Later we will hear. I ask once more. Is there anyone who served in Buhari's government as a Minister or Military Administrator from Mudashiru in the West to Hamza Abdullahi in the north to Allison Maduekwe in the south who is not a billionaire today even in a stricter anti-corruption regime. |
Tinyemeka:Completely out of her depths. From my second floor office I can see a queue at the gas station 300 yards and guess what they sell at 150 per litre and people still. Most parts of the south are about celebrating an anniversary of fuel prices above 100 naira. Yes for about a year now I have bought fuel for that price except in Abuja. Subsidy or not, low crude prices or not, the fuel is just not there and is fully deregulated. No problem. |
With this I think the PDP finally has something to cheer about. Where is sleepy, moribund Jimi. |
Well he has his work cut out because nothing else will be done in his remaining three years. It will be one long slugfest. |
GAZZUZZ:Yes it is true and is there anything strange about that. With drivers killing Ministers and Dangote trailers in love with people's sitting rooms and bedroom I expect the FRSC to raise the bar even further. They should in addition set a minimum threshold for sobriety, literacy and sanity. Half of Lagos won't pass. |
When the regime of decay in the electioneering process prevails and succeeds, it is bound to spread and perhaps intensify. Bayelsa was bad. Two or three cancellations, a few dead, Rivers, almost half cancelled, scores dead. Are we progressing. By Edo, what will we have learnt, what will we have gained expertise in. It is a real pity. |
Can we now see why it was important that Jonathan acted a statesman and let the system work. It is when there is war you appreciate peace. He remains the best president to date simply because he put Nigeria ahead of himself knowing that what will follow could land him in jail for his wrongs but considered it was not 'worth the....' |
4nobody4every1:Told you corruption was nigh impossible to end in Nigeria. Instead of tackling the root cause, the structure that makes a CBN governor 'NEED' to hand those appointments out like candy to a group of misfits as the pre-emminent arm of financial Nigeria battles the worst economic recession in decades they will approach the hydra headed monster with a beard trimmer claiming to fight corruption. If they wanted to impress us that wards of Nigeria's elite will bring us out of recession hence the need to employ them in the CBN, they could have done that by drafting them to the army to liberate us from Harambook. |
With the way things are going the time draws near when the APC will have to cut Amaechi loose and perhaps reimburse him somehow or else he may cause them great embarrasment and much grief. 'my ambition is not worth....'. When we say he was the best to date. We know what we have seen that sadly we may not see for a while to come. |
Naija9090:Yeah, heard that Enugu is experiencing something like a deceleration but the last time I drove through from Abuja it appeared the 9th Mile Bypass was through and I saw a few urban road renewals by RCC, I think. |
networkrecharg:In which state is this collabo, and is the judiciary now partisan. |
tickles2luv2016:Don't mind him. He doesn't know that is the way to de-market the PDP. If it ever holds any ambition of returning to the apex centre it has to win back the north which remains pretty much pliable unlike the west which hardly has any bridges left to burn. PDP you need the northern vote and the muslim vote or by the next election your market share will have shrunk to APGA status and Reverend Okotie's aspirations will look more plausible in comparison. |
TippyTop:Hmmm....are you sure. |
2001 when I worked on the Island and lived off Allen 4:45am at about 130 kmph somewhere after Unilag my headlights caught a man pushing his 404 pickup across the bridge. I will never forget that day. The luck I had was that I usually like getting ahead of the crowd before the chicane at Adele so I had two lanes to my right and two to my left and I needed all the space because once he saw my headlights he abandoned the car and fled back across to the centre median totally confusing me. I just took my feet off the throttle. How I didn't hit either one remains a mystery. Naturally no meaningful work for me that day and my bae drove back that night. I will never forget. You certainly can't tell what happened before but our eroding humanity and values did not help what happened after. |
Look, if the APC wants to get a proper foothold in the south then it should either remove Amaechi as its brand ambassador or send him on a two-year intensive course in political machinations at the University of Bourdillon. When Jonathan became President I knew it would lead to political excitement, split and vigour in the south similar to what Obasanjo caused in the West, the rise of political opposition leading to contest and the attendant improvement in debate. I was not surprised when Amaechi split but instead of creating debate and finding better solutions he degenerated to squabbling, personality and character assasination. Tinubu never did that to Baba. Tinubu went about quietly undermining the PDP by offering a better package. What has Amaechi done as the spearhead of the APC in the south beyond Rivers State. Nothing. He fought Dickson on the right, Akpabio on the left and Uchendu in front. These are not characteristics of a Statesman and I said it last year. It will be a big clog in APC's wheel for a while to come. |
IamPatriotic:My friend. Before 2014/5 where was the ACN outside the South-West. It was as polarised as APGA. If the South East decided in 2012-14 to vote APGA enmasse and proposed a merger with the CPC supporting Buhari where will the west have been. The reality is that APGA moved increasingly to the centre by losing more and more support to the PDP in the East while the west became increasingly polarised. If not for the merger with the CPC the entire west will be under regional leadership. You can't deny that. |
Orikinla:That is the problem with people like you. You see the South as territory to be conquered. If you are an indigene is this how you call your brothers. If you are a foreigner is this how you address your hosts. Can't the same be said about the north in many ways. The people you address that way have been agitating for resource control. They want the oil for themselves and they will view the APC as representing a position much further away from that objective and folks like you are not helping your party and the matter as a whole. |
IamPatriotic:It all started with the ACN which was a regional party that failed to nationalise before seeking and expanding power. Even the CPC which it merged with had a reasonable footprint across the Niger in the east. The PDP on the other had has always been a pluralistic party and even today has cross cultural and cross religious support reflected in the diversity of its office holders. The APC is more sectional than the PDP. That's why the East and South are so hotly contested as territories to be conquered. And anyone saying the South-East are politically sectional is being dishonest. If they were they will have turned to APGA enmasse when the PDP lost the centre but they did not showing that they remain pluralistic and willing to work for a democratic country. I cannot see what the South East and South South are doing that the South West has not been doing since 1999. After 300 years of independence and democracy the United States still has stronghold where the Republicans and Democrats hold sway, most based on cultural demographics, same with the UK, France, Germany, etc. |
onatisi:The threat of violence. Those pictures of beheadings and gun shot incidents must have been a big turn-off. Whoever wins has a flawed mandate. Its like US baseball calling its finals, 'world series'. |
amuokuko:I suppose the pic was after the incident. She may have worn something else before. |
Babe2sure:Haba madam. Gangrene in two days Even if he placed the finger in a putrid swamp. So called foaming of the mouth comes from fluid in his lungs. Heart failure without a doubt. His demise came like a thief in the night. Not entirely her fault but as a good neighbour she did not help his poor health by singing out loudly at dawn. |
Arsenate:Start with a quality Football Association. A monkey cannot beget a man. If you cannot pay your prime staff consistently then the world cup semis is just pie in the sky. |
You can only win serious silverware if the club engages managers and players with ambitions greater than its own. I can't identify two in the Arsenal squad. Apart from Sanchez I cannot see any other who is remotely interested. I sincerely hope May draws the curtains on Wenger's terrorism. |
Samtob90:I see. What do you and the APC members call the West. |
pinkpebbles:If they were girls, perhaps. Boys don't do drama. They do action....PG+18. |
sinaj:Hmmm....perhaps Peter Obi was planning to re-invent himself as 'Mister Pee' and the duelling duo got in the way....just thinking. |
chiddye:Is that not a case of 'double jeopardy' (if we have that in our criminal justice system). Anyway strange as this may seem, the Judiciary is independent and not part of the anti-corruption crusade of the present regime. It should not react to government policy in a way that appears partisan. If it made mistakes in the Tinubu's case it should be allowed to correct them in its own way. The CCT must be institutionalised and hopefully going forward not at the whims of any government or party politics. |
If we go down that road no one will ever get the cuffs. The CCT had better know that its reputation is on trial here too. |
Honestly, it is well. |
carinmom:Because education as we know it has its origins in the west and western education had close ties to the church. These are legacies hard to change but there is nothing wrong in tweaking it to suit our needs. Education is more important than religion. |
Dexpro:This is one bad thing in Nigeria. So much waste. He goes out with higher pension and gratuity for just one year service at the elevated rank. The training he has gotten, briefs, security reports and state secrets are just wasted. The new man comes in and the cycle starts again. They will appoint someone who has 3 days left to retire. Nonsense. The House should make laws giving a minimum tenure for the the top cop job so that their appointments could be taken more seriously. |
dammytosh:I quite agree. Since Buhari has taken a gamble and gone solo, he can't rope others in if this administration goes south. It is quite prudent at this point that Tinubu insulates himself now so that his stock remains high. The attempt by the writer to rope him into the present economic challenges falls flat in my opinion. They have taken Buhari to the stream. They cannot force him to drink. The APC I think is determined to survive Buhari. I think in the interest of the polity this is good. |
