Silly people. Is price control the way to go in.a liberal, free market democracy such as ours. It is a stupid as trade union strikes over salary increases while ignoring the more worthy issues of inflation and its root causes such that you have a strike every six months to maintain a level standard of living. What should have be done was the protection of an industry from monopolistic tendencies of individual companies by appropriate anti-trust laws. GoTv should never have been allowed to.set sail. That is a litigation worthy venture. The various underhand marketing strategies of Multi-Choice aimed at squeezing out all competition over the years should have ended in court. Now that the chimpanzee has grown into a 300 pound gorilla you want to wrestle it. You better leave them alone. The pricing regime that you should fear is the one that lowers prices to such a ridiculous amount all aimed at rail-roading competition than the one that raises prices to such a ridiculously high level. Because the markets will soon offer Multi-Choice a stern lesson when high prices attract the competition it doesn't want, just as high, sustained international oil prices are ALWAYS followed by a crash. For me it is better. |
The PDP has no business whatsoever winning Abia. If they vote in the PDP again they are entirely responsible for whatever befalls. How can lightning strike thrice. |
soe:So indeed the Oba must be working for Agbaje since according to you the PDP are agents of tribalism while the APC are more cosmopolitan abi. Like your Oba, you should try and be as objective as possible. For him to even be partisan is a serious denigration of his stool that possibly can never be repaired. |
Once again. The best days of the APC are over. From here on all you will sense is the acrid smell of a burning brake pad as they try to slow the hill descent. No more excuses, no more lightning rods. Such is the quest to stay at the top. Much harder than getting there. |
SirMethod:Food for thought. |
Jennifer89:Hmm. Please who has lost his ostrich. |
Hahaha. 'Hardship allowance'. Sure, its a hard life being a Senator. Devious planning, scheming, gun running, lies, sabotage, theft, fraud.., their poor little souls must be panting for righteousness. Anyway 'change' has come. So by May 30th I expect to see those wages halved. But come to think of it, all the major parties have had representation there. Why has there NEVER been an internal debate, battle over good governance like we have had with the Executive. Is there a clearer indication that greed has no party logo. Can it be clearer that it is the system not the operators that require 'change'. Is it not apparent that the battle lines are between 'them' and 'us', not them versus them and us versus us. Nigerians, please elevate your thinking. |
Racists and racism everywhere. Then they will lament at the white man's mockery and rant at his profiling. We deserve what we get. Just one election and the country is creaking at its fault lines revealing the acidic lava of tribal pseudo-supremacy. Pity. This country and its people remain decades away from civilization and real, sustainable development. We just donot have the mental capacity to handle nationhood. |
The best days of the APC are over. From last week its all down hill. Welcome to real politics. |
Chigold101:God will not save you from them because He is not interested in politics. He has laid down the law and with it blessings and curses and He has asked us to chose. |
ucheewa:Better wake up from your slumber. You apparently know little about politics and governance and even less about history. No leader can run this country without cabals. They were there since Gowon presided over the civil war importing arms. Murtala wined and dined with them. Shagari had them in charge of 'essential commodities. Buhari I had them in charge of the import license caper, IBB gave them licenses to lift crude oil replacing the worthless naira as legal tender up till GEJ who gave them licenses to import phantom cargoes of fuel. Every regime since independence has produced its oligarchs and Buhari II will not be an exception. He either does that or be removed. It is that simple. By the way he made every day architects, quantity surveyors and engineers of Afri-Project Consortium overnight billionaires. So did his import license regime. I won't name names. But it has and it will happen again. Corruption cannot end in Nigeria. |
Once again the 'system' is miles ahead of the players. This is why corruption can never end. Once again I say, the best days of the APC are over. |
modath:Focus on the story and circle the essence. Can the People's General keep the forty thieves off the reservation. Does he or does he not have accords and agreements with them that facilitated his rise to power. Can he cage these people. Once again I repeat. In the animal kingdom very, very few species hunt and eat their kind. I don't know how Buhari intends to hunt and eat his kind. Canibalism isn't pleasant at all. |
Am happy he says 'no one knows the mind of God', so where does he get these things from. We know the Will of God as contained in His Word. We know the mind of Christ because God has gifted us that but the mind of God are part of the things that make God sovereign. It is inaccessible. Even Jesus 'who came missioned' from heaven did not have all the answers so who is this man to. |
Point of understanding. Buhari cannot change Nigeria. Nigeria is the way it is and will be the way it will be by the aggregate collective wills of Nigerians. It is Nigerians who put him there to do their bidding and he won't be able to operate outside their will. We often hear that, so and so leader was this and that but he surrounded himself with people of different opinions leading to his demise. Well no man, no leader can do it alone. He needs people to assist and these assistants need assistants and so forth. Along the line the aggregate complexion of leadership changes as authority spreads taking the form of generality. In 1983 the vast majority could not accept Buhari's ideologies so he lasted a short while. This time either his position changes or the peoples'. The question we should be asking in line with the famous anti-corruption mantra is, are Nigerians ready for the change they voted for because just yesterday at the local ATM I saw everyday corruption and it didn't involve leaders, politicians or government but it affected me. These are the realities society face. My greatest worry in a people who fail to come to terms with what they are but rather live in delusion that it is always somebody elses fault. |
arsetalks:I know they will go there. Free food. Entitlement ruinous mentality. All for nothing. There was a time calls were subsidized and dirt cheap under NITEL. When an incoming international call will be rushed and you will be wondering why these white folks are always in a hurry while at our call centres our folks will spend ages in idle talk and then drop one rubbish 100 naira because aunty or uncle is in charge. What was the profit to Nigerians then. People will often fail to correlate cost to productivity. That the cheaper a thing is, the less productive it becomes. |
Drabeey:My friend develop a grand vision and begin to pursue it. All these glass ceilings you guys place over your heads is just unnecessary. Personal development, not location should be first and front in your list of tasks. |
Volksfuhrer:You look at the big picture. That is what visionaires do. That is how to move forward. It is about the game not the players. |
saxywale:It is okay. He has gone. |
djfox:I tell you. Hunger is bad. So that when you see a burger you just can't have enough. When you have a good man in the midst of so much evil they will keep talking and talking. How many of them can do such. Very few. Even the much acclaimed Fashola raved and rantf when his chosen successor couldn't make muster at Bourdillon. If it was his chance, his choice and he had the armed forces at his disposal will Ambode be contesting? I don't like doing people but Jonathan has set the bar. I hope it becomes the norm. |
edwife:My dear every creature with a soul strives to 'make up' for one thing or the other all through their lives. It is normal. What you are suggesting is that since she has fallen she should look for another 'high horse' to mount. You are more interested in her pride than her humility. We cannot all live like that. |
StealthIdeals:You just can't understand the terminology 'potential' or can you. Tsst. |
Na waoh. Abeg na. The elections are over. Is this what we will be doing for the next four years. It is scary. When have Nigerians become political brawlers. The new government is in for it. Non stop attack. I hope there will be time for development. Hmmm. |
onatisi:No matter the outcome of next weekend's elections there will be opposition. People have tasted the abilities to change government by the ballot so they will try. The fact that it has happened peacefully will attract better quality candidates who hitherto viewed Nigerian politics as Tom and Jerry rating 18+ and thus stayed away. |
marv1:You know very little about politics. Is there any society where leaders ultimately deliver to all peoples all the time while demands remain static. Please wake up. Man's wants are insatiable. Nigeria has nothing but hungry mouths and extremely divergent hearts. You can only appease them for a season. For example, Fashola's successor is not likely going to enjoy equal popularity even if he produces 110% simply because the bar has been raised unrealistically high. Buhari is starting from such a low so he has traction but over time even your starry eyes will change. You yourself will become his opposition. It always happens. |
signz:Correct. You know your onions quite well. Not only will Jonathan step down from power, it is important he ceeds the reigns at Wadata House. Like in the Parliamentry system, when the PM goes from government, he more or less leaves the party chair. It is critical. OBJ held onto it too long and did more damage to the party in the party. Democracy is a system not a person. We should never lose that important perspective. OBJ cannot understand this so he is caught in a wierd state of matter. He is not a political liquid, solid or gas. |
MaleoPearls:The APC only reached the summit of Nigerian politics with the famous split and later splinter PDP group of Kwankwaso, Ameachi and the rest. This is exactly how the new PDP will emerge. A combination of disgruntled APC men combining with hardcore PDP loyalists sometime within the next two to three years when the 'sharing' is all done. Two things have to happen by then. One. The footprints of President Jonathan will have long been washed away by the beach waves. Two, the magnetic poles will have switched completely around with the PDP offering a President of Northern extraction with a vice from the South-South but preferrably South-East to counter and split the APC northern block vote. One interesting outcome of this election is the solid alliance forming between the South-South and South-East. Going forward I think the S.S should reward the support the East gave them by pushing for the S.E VP slot and beyond. This is also a strategic mistake the APC is making that may cost them someday if they are not able to make political in roads there. Trust me, opposition politics is alive and well and will be taken to a whole new level. Its just a matter of time. |
No comment. |
sirRiddy:Do you want me to laugh. Okay, haha....but your joke is not funny. |
Beamborla:Shows that they donot understand how democracy works in other countries and should work for Nigerians. If every PDP politician dies or relocates to the APC then what makes for the name PDP. You need competition to grow and the stiffer the competition the quicker the progress. Neutral, enlightened Nigerians will want a PDP rebirth. Of course under new leadership with fresh ideas and thirst for power that will make them oppose the new government with all the vigour it can muster. This is the benefit to Nigerians of this democratic experiment. |
ammyluv2002:He won't. He is a good man. The best President Nigeria ever had as I have been saying for four years. For him it has always been about the system, not the person. This is how he has fought his own corruption by empowering the vast majority of Nigerians with the right to punish those hitherto more powerful than them. Better than what any judge or jury can ever do. They say he divided Nigeria so how come he lost the elections if he did. My people, the salvation of Nigeria lies more in the system, in the people and not in any individual. It is Nigerians that will ultimately guarantee the success or failure of the new government. All we wish for is positive leadership stimulus towards institution building. |
MrKnowitall:Hahaha. He didn't 'do or die'. Actually he did nothing really extraordinary as a person or a democrat. I said it years ago. He is not a Nigerian politician by any stretch of the imagination. He is a fine gentleman, a peacemaker and everything a Christian should be. And in my opinion the best President Nigeria has produced till date. A man's achievements will always speak long after he is gone. I said the man was not desperate to rule and he has proven it. Now it is putting a few coins in peoples pockets. That's how. His net worth is that he has contributed to democracy and the institutions upholding it. I just hope our new leaders can sustain the growth. |
