Beyond the usual mischievous newspaper headline,I don't see anything wrong with the COAS statement.
The only reason why Boko Haram has continued to thrive is the potency of their ideology. It really doesn't matter how many terrorists killed by the Army on the battle field. More terrorists will continue to be recruited until the Boko Haram ideology is defeated. Such a battle isn't won on the conventional battlefield but in the battlefield of the mind...which is why the COAS called it "spiritual warfare".
The said statement was issued at a seminar organised by the Nigerian Army Chaplaincy. (Directorate of religious affairs) which is an apt audience for that kind of statement.
Nigerian newspaper publishers know for a fact that most of us do not read beyond headlines so they keep coming up with these silly headlines. |

I wish there could be a course called "How to Plan and Organise a Peaceful Protest" taught in schools, especially higher institutions. Perhaps it can form part of the GNS or GST courses every student is exposed to in the early part of their university days. Our Nigerian anti-riot also need to be exposed to a similar course but this time should focus on how to prevent a protest from becoming a riot!
What a lot of us cloak as "peaceful protest" in Nigeria is far from it. In a peaceful protest, you don't hurl missiles at law enforcement. You don't go to the nearest public garage to hire touts and ruffians in the name of mobilisation. "Aluta" isn't a license for lawless and mindless behaviour.
How can a protest by students of a university degenerate to the point of hurling rocks and other projectiles at the convoy of a government official? I watched this video and several others and I am surprised this incident only led to 2 deaths. This could easily have become another Police vs Shiites war leading to a slew of casualties.
From all indications, the police did not willfully open fire on students. They did so because they were provoked. If you corner a policeman and attack him with rocks, he will respond the only way he knows how...with much more violence. Our policemen are experts at heavy-handed conflict resolution. They adopt extreme measures in every conflict, shooting to kill most times. The unfortunate thing here is that the police weapons are equipped with real bullets and not plastic bullets as is usual in developed climes. This is a major failure on the part of the government. It is time we realise that protests are an inalienable part of democracy so we will see more of this as time goes on. It is, therefore, time to re-train and equip our law enforcement agents accordingly.
Over a million people marched and protested during the recently resolved Hong Kong protests. No one lost their lives in the crises apart from the 5 protesters that reportedly committed ritual suicide to press home their demands. This is because the police deployed standard riot gear: Teargas, Rubber bullets and batons.
Students and citizens must do better. The Police also needs a total reorientation and proper equipment to avoid this unnecessary loss of lives going forward.
God bless the dead and console their families. |

UdechiHD: Nwobodo has been retired, so as others. There are currently no Igbo DIG in Buhari's government. The Police force is usually the Igbo forte than even the military.
For the tribalist asking the population of Igbo's in the Police Force, they should compare the number of Igbo's to their own tribe in the force. One daft will stay in his cubicle and be writing trash.
For your information Louis Edet is Calabar and not even Igbo. The Igbo's have not had it worst in our civilian dispensation than in Buhari's government.
If you as a tribalist support the marginalization of the Igbo's today because you benefit from their absence, get ready to suffer your own tomorrow while others benefit from your absence. This is the law of Karma. DIG Godwin Nwobodo is still in active service. You need to understand that there are 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria and the South East is just one of them. LifestyleTonite: The Nigerian Police Force have seized the international passport of pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA.
This was done as part of the bail condition granted to the pastor who was interrogated few days ago over a rape allegation leveled against him by Busola Dakolo, wife of singer Timi Dakolo.
A search was conducted at his residence and office on Wednesday by detectives from the Force Criminal Investigation Department(FCID), Abuja.
According to source who spoke to Daily Sun, “the home of the pastor and his office were searched today by detectives investigating the matter, but I cannot tell you what they found, but defiantly they were looking for incriminating documents and other evidences that was revealed by witnesses during the discreet investigation conducted in the matter.
“Also part of the bail conditions given to pastor Fatoyinbo is that he provides two level 16 officers who have landed property in Abuja, and that his international passport to be deposited with the police which he has done”. The source said.
Part of the bail condition sees Fatoyinbo providing two level 16 officers who have landed properties in Abuja.
The COZA pastor has since been released to go home but told to report regularly at the FCID in Abuja.
https://wotzup.ng/police-seize-pastor-fatoyinbos-passport-conduct-search-on-his-house-office/ Searching his home and office for what exactly? Evidence of a crime he allegedly committed over a decade ago? Were they expecting to find a video recording of the incident or maybe a full or an empty bottle of Krest stashed away in a corner of his room All I can see is an attempt to drag this case unnecessarily perhaps in an attempt by the police to convince the public that the matter was thoroughly investigated. Anyone waiting for an indictment and possible prosecution of Pastor Fatoyinbo is "sitting on a long thing". (In the immortal words of that "great philosopher" Kokomaster Dbanj ) |

jess2019: My son will be 9 in October but his behaviour bothers me so much. He acts like a day dreamer. He has turned me into a shouting and miserable mum as I had to beat him after I've exhausted other punishment options. To make this short, I'm going to summarise his behaviour.
He still cannot get himself ready for school in the morning. Either he doesnt cream his body or forgets to comb his hair or doesnt brush his teeth. He forgets to brush his teeth almost everyday. This made me to make a list of step by step sticker. I sticked this on their bathroom mirror and on his bedroom wall. Yet I have to keep reminding him everyday. For example, last week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday he forgot to brush his teeth and hair. I have to constantly be reminding him every morning. He is the only one that brushes teeth after getting ready. I trained them to brush teeth first before shower but he keeps forgetting.
I have to remind him to do his homework, and put it back in his school bag to return to school on Mondays. The book will still not make it to the school even after constant reminder. We've lost countless of lunch bags. One ended up on school roof. If you give him any form to submit back to his teacher. He will forget in his bag so I now give it to his sister to give to his teacher.
He removes his clothes, shoes, pants, belts etc and leave them on the floor, I bought two laundry baskets for him. One in his room, another in their bathroom, yet all his belongings end up on the floor that you can hardly find a space to put a foot. I dont expect him to be perfect but atleast to try so that his 70% clothes make it to the basket or shoes to their racks. He also has a book shelf and desk yet they also end up on the floor.
He plays so much that sometimes he leaves shops with items in his hands. So I have to always watch out for him. Living in a western country where black boys are stereotyped I fear for him. He can stare at the ceiling for hrs when getting ready for school or spend long time in the shower yet not using soap on his body. This usually makes us late unless I step in to help or keep shouting.
If you ask him to do any house chores, he will not do it instead waiting for us to forget so he can get away with it. When grounded not to watch TV, he will still do it once he knows am inside my room or busy with a baby.
Yesterday we revised all his lesson assignments (5 work books). I specifically asked him to put them in his lesson bag. I pointed at the bag. Now I drop him at the lesson only for him to say oh I think I came with old lesson books. I dont know how he ended up with old books in his bag. It could be he planned it as a way to avoid the lesson. If not I wonder how he will remember it himself as soon as I drop him and his sister as this is unlike him.
I've taken him to a doctor incase there is any diagnosis so I can give him all the help he needs but they said it's just his behaviour because according to the doctor he is smart academically. He is 18months ahead of his year level. So they ruled ADHD out. Sorry I'm not laughing at you oooo! I showed your post to my wife and she asked me after reading "Please what is she complaining about?" I have a 10-year-old boy and I can tell you for a fact that your post almost perfectly describes him. You have nothing to worry about. What your son is going through is called "growing up." Just keep nurturing, guiding and directing. Bear the pain of constant correction and shouting for now. When you have to discipline him by spanking or corporal punishment, make sure you are in the right frame of mind and do it from a heart of love...not frustration at his behaviour. Thank God he doesn't have a learning disability. Every other thing will fall in place duly. He will be just fine. |

References: Spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State chapter, Joe Igbokwe, has described himself as a Nigerian and not belonging to any ethnic group.
Igbokwe, who stated this yesterday at the House of Assembly during the screening of the last batch of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s cabinet-nominees, lampooned those he described as ethnic bigots.
He hinted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was the reason for the attitude of easterners in the state during the last general election.
Lagos should take the lead and be more open to other ethnic groups by giving them political appointments, he asserted.
He said, “I’m proudly Nigerian; I don’t know about east, west, north or south. I have been in Lagos since 1985. My children were born here. It’s high time we started building this country.
“I get angry when people mention ethnicity. A young Nigerian lady was just made a minister in Britain. If I become the president of this country, nobody is going to fill form and put his state of origin. That’s the first thing I will do. It is when you take people for who they are that is when they will release their energy for the good of the country. One day, Nigerians will say, we are all Nigerians.
“The reason for the attitude of easterners in Lagos at the last election was because Peter Obi was on the ballot. If Atiku had won, he would be the vice president.
“If 70 to 75 per cent of a particular people dominate a region, they should be encouraged. If they don’t get council chairman, at least make them deputy. What Igbo people have in Lagos, they don’t have a quarter of it in their land. If you see anybody that is doing well in the South East, he must have a thriving business in Lagos.
https://m.guardian.ng/politics/i-belong-to-no-ethnic-group-says-joe-igbokwe/ I am happy about Joe Igbokwe's appointment as Commissioner in Lagos State. He deserves it both for his intellectual prowess, his contributions during the last elections in Lagos State and his overall loyalty to the party. I hope that with this appointment, he becomes a little more circumspect and tempered in his speech. He tends to voice out his opinions without deferring to political correctness. While that may be seen as a virtue in some situations, as a government official, he needs to be careful. His recent personal opinion on the advent of Motorbike Hailing Services (Gokada, OPay, etc) is a good example of such statements that are unbecoming of a public official. It could be wrongly assumed from his statement, that the entire Lagos State Government is averse to the growth of MSMEs. |

You could as well ask them, where do you stay? Instead of where do you live? Seriously, you crack me up here! If I have a need to ask them where they stay, seeing that they aren't permanent residents of Nigeria, I would. I know and can make a clear distinction between both phrases. Neither is grammatically incorrect. Like every other language, the English Language and its grammar are evolving. In 2018 alone, over 1000 new words were added to the Oxford English Dictionary. Would you question my prowess in the use of the language if I use a new word or construct you aren't familiar with just because you have a personal dislike for its use? Do you know that there are people that respond to being greeted "Good Morning" with the rude retort, "What is good about the morning?". Does it mean because they probably woke up on the wrong sides of their bed that morning, I am grammatically incorrect to wish them a "Good Morning"? |

darling4real1: I TRULY DON'T ANSWER THIS!!
*Do you know that asking a person “How was your night?” is wrong?* Well, if you didn’t know it until today, get to know with the help of Edward E Onoriode who shared the update on his Facebook wall. I felt it very necessary to spread the word and help people know about it too.
Here it is.... as posted by Edward E Onoriode.
I attended a IED (Improvise Explosive Device) fusion cell meeting with some US and British EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) experts yesterday to discuss all the IED incidences that had happened within the week across Somalia.
At the meeting hall, I saluted one of the British officers ‘Good morning sir’ and he responded back ‘good morning to you too’
My oversabi did not allow me to keep quiet so I went further with the Nigeria popular phrase ‘how was your night sir?’
Dude was shock. He looked at me in a weird way as if I’d said something out of the ordinary. Something that’s sacrilegious which is an abomination to his ears. After some sec, he said ‘how my night went is none of your business’!
I was awed in shock. Normally, I was expecting a simple ‘fine’ ‘Good’ ‘Splendid’ ‘ My night was great’ etc. But he didn’t say any of these but he told me ‘how my night went is none of your business’! I felt embarrassed.
For minutes, I couldn’t mutter a word back to him. I just buried my head in shame.
All through the meeting, I was lost in thought and I couldn’t concentrate on the meeting minutes. I kept asking myself within, ‘was my question wrong?’ ‘have I said something that offended this man?’ ‘could it be that he had a bad night rest and he decided to transfer the aggression at me?’
After the meeting, I did a little Google search and I couldn’t believe the answers I got.
Ladies and gentlemen, did you know the phrase “How was your night ” In English Language means “How was last nights sex?” “How was your night shift duty?” “How was your health during the night hours?”
Whenever you ask this question in the morning to healthy people who are not in sick bed, you’re invariably inquiring about their sexual comfort/activities during the night or how their night shift went and it’s rude to ask such mostly if you’re not closely related to the person. No wonder the British officer find my question condescending because he felt I was intruding in his private business since I’m not too familiar with him. But I asked that question with a sincere and innocent mind without any harm. Basically, how was your night is normally asked to people who are receiving treatments in the hospital or people who are on night shift.
Nigeria has really messed me up. Now, I’d be more careful whenever I want to speak with these white folks because I never can tell when I’d say something that’s offensive and invasive again. By the way, I need to un-learn so many English I’ve been proudly speaking, they’re wrong. My happiness is that I know the appropriate question whenever I want to enquire how a person’s night went now and it should be;
“Did you have a good night sleep?” or “Did you sleep well?
The answer to ‘ How was your night?’ Is actually ‘none of your business!’
I have checked our local languages. Even as literal translation goes, no Nigerian language asks ‘How was your night?’ I am checking because of this phrase, for those who know, was not in use in Nigeria as recent as 10 years ago.
As my Doctor friend said to me, it may have come from hospitals. It’s common knowledge according to the doctor that sick people often have rough nights and most deaths occur at night. So a doctor’s question to the patient during morning ward rounds is usually ‘How was your night?’ If we exported hospital vocabulary to the streets, are we now to assume, we are all at death’s door?
The proper address for mornings is simply ‘good morning’ and if you want to spice it up by being overly friendly, you may add ‘hope you slept well?’ A person’s night is not our business.
If we are Igbo it’s either, ibolachi– have you woken up. Ututuoma- good morning.
If Yoruba, 'ę karo' – good morning. You can go further as Yorubas are won’t do by adding “se daada l'ę ji’ – hope you woke up well?
None of these our local greetings intrusively asks ‘How was your night?’ So, No! It is not African either. Let us be well aware when we leave our lanes to go measuring that of others. *So now we know!* *Don't go asking me or anyone else "How was my night anymore?*
*Copied* There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with asking anyone how was your night! I work with a lot of British and American expatriates and I ask them that almost every morning in the office and they respond very politely. The fact that one person responded rudely to you doesn't mean everyone else will take umbrage at been asked an innocuous question. Is it only at night that sex happens? So why is it ok to ask " How was your day?" and crime to ask "How was your night?" Anyone who takes umbrage at being asked about the night should blame themselves for having a perverted and twisted mind. They need to get their minds outta the gutter. There is also nothing ungrammatical about the construction. |

Achuba has been at loggerheads with Bello who is said to have withheld his deputy’s allowances amounting to N800 million, Igbere TV reports.
In an interview, Achuba said the governor never told him his offence. He, however, said Bello could be angry at him because of his insistence “that the right things be done.”
“You flag off project here today; you go to another place, you flag off again; you continue to flag off projects without anything being completed, and you get back to meet these same people. What are you going to tell them?” Achuba said of Bello.
When asked if the governor had really not completed any project in four years, he said: “Essentially, that is what it is. There is no meaningful project that has been brought to 100 percent completion …that he started that has got to 100 percent completion…. No!”
The deputy governor said as far as he was concerned he had not been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi.
He said Bello’s government was corrupt but that he would be seen as being a hypocrite to talk about it since he was a part of the government.
Source; http://igberetvnews.com/900760/yahaya-bello-hasnt-completed-a-project-in-four-years-deputy-simon-achuba/ Shame on the governor! But a bigger shame on you Mr. Deputy Governor for continuing to serve in such an inept administration. Even after granting this hypocritical interview, you are still ensconced in Kogi Government House pretending to be a deputy governor. Both the deputy governor and the governor are dishonourable men that have overseen the fraud called governance in Kogi State for the last 4 years. |

Swizzyj5: I am here in New Delhi,India, medanta is a world class and super specialty hospital,i was there last week with my friend and i will be going there tomorrow to see elzakzaky in person.. I doubt the security team will allow anyone to see him. Apart from the Nigerian security team, the Indian government will most likely also have their own team on ground. They cannot afford to have such a high profile person die through poisoning or any untoward means while in their custody. It would lead to a major diplomatic row. |

It was on this same Nairaland that I saw pictures of the man at the airport in Nigeria, on the plane en route India, at the airport in India flanked by Indian doctors, and finally of him lying in a hospital bed been attended to by an Indian doctor.
What exactly is all these nonsense talks of Nigeria and America preventing him from being admitted in a hospital?
Looks like these Shiites are looking for another reason to continue their madness in Abuja. Anyway, I trust Baba Buhari will not broach nonsense from them at all.
