JONNYSPUTE: ....Good morning folks. Sure we are all good and managing the effects of pandemic well?. To God be the glory.
This is going to be long because I will want us to read and understand it very well before commenting. Reason is because any decision taken is going to affect both myself,my immediate family members, extended and the entire community.
I have been thinking about the way forward since December last year.
It happened that we lost our king (Eze) 5years ago and the community has been in turmoil due to the inability of the elders to select a new king.
Reason is that it is rotational between my village and the other village.
My village is now supposed to bring out the next king and my compound has been told to bring out somebody to be crowned as a king.
I never envisaged or dreamt of becoming a king in my life because. (1) My father is still alive. (2)I'm not the most senior in the entire family.
But then, the elders met me last December and told me that the diety in the community has selected me to become the next king and that I have to pick another wife from the community before I will be crowned.
I told them point and blank that the oracle is mistaken due to the reasons I mentioned above but they are not taking it.
Now everyone in my village is against me for refusing the offer and saying I'm doing it be cause I don't want to hurt my wife which is true.
Now my question is,What do I do? Should I damn the consequence and pick another wife and be crowned a king in other to make my community happy or should I forget about the whole idea entirely and allow the community sort themselves out?
I'm confused here. N B. My wife is aware of all this.
Thanks.
Please bring this to front page cause I'm no longer myself. So many sleepless nights and selfish advices from the elders in my community. I really need to hear the truth from people I don't know.
What is it with African deities and complicating ordinary peoples' lives?
if you accept the title, I hope the "deities" won't further complicate your life...like asking you to drop one or two human heads every year or marrying even more wives. No disrespect to your culture and tradition but our African "deities" have a sick and twisted sense of humour. Bizarre and somewhat macabre. I also know they always want more and more until they drain the last drop of your blood.
Please beware before you jump into the traditional sphere because beyond the glitz and glamour of royalty, there is a fetish and dark underbelly. Na only "strong men" dey attempt am.
SultanOfAbia: This girl just fvcked up my paroles I don't know how on Earth this girl can hack my insta,WhatsApp and telegram. Wtf?? She hacked into my Instagram account last night and changed the password. She is threatening to release all my chats even my nudes with some girls in insta.
I have some clients that are following my Instagram page. My boss too This owerri girl want to destroy me. I'm thinking of reporting the insta page so they can block it. But it will affect my business. What should I do??
Get a lawyer to issue her a cease and desist order. Then go to the police with your lawyer and show tham proof that she has indeed taken over your accounts and threatened to reveal intimate details of your private conversations. What she is doing is called blackmail and it is a criminal offence.
EngineerBode: There is nothing like betrayal here. Most times, the governor and deputy are brought together for political reasons. They were never friends before. Check Buhari and osibanjo.Did Buhari know Osibanjo before? The deputy is ambitious. he wants to be Governor. He is free to contest. He owes no one his life.
Nothing wrong with ambition.
If the deputy governor wants to become governor so desperately and he isn't willing to wait until his boss runs his term, then he is right to resign and run on another platform.
The only challenge here is that he shouldn't only resign from the party that gave him the platform. He should also resign from the office.
No one is dragging the title of "national Chairman of APC appointed by court order" with Giadom. He should continue to answer it since he likes it so much. Infact he should add it to his list of titles.
He needs to have the entire NWC to make any pronouncements that makes any effect.
Can Giadom mention which member of the APC NWC he is running his secretariat with?
Going by the news yesterday, the APC is definitely not in disarray.
Oshiomole stepped aside in compliance with a court order. The party appointed Ajimobi as acting chairman in line with the party's constitution and going by the natural order of succession.
Ajimobi is currently ill and indisposed so when the party NWC met yesterday, they appointed Hilliard Eta to act instead of Ajimobi who is currently indisposed. Mr. Hilliard Eta is thus the party's acting chairman at the moment.
Giadom claims he was appointed acting chairman by the courts via a judgement secured in March. Events have since overtaken the circumstances that led to that judgement. Giadom hmself is no longer the deputy secretary of the APC since he resigned his appointment to contest deputy governorship of Cross River state. His resignation was ratified by the NWC at their meeting yesterday so he is no longer in the running for chairmanship. He is a pretender and a spoiler at best.
The so-called leadership crisis in the APC only exists on the pages of newspapers, social media and in the minds of mischief makers.
Newcreature2020: Question? why aren't the market place or malls having these same rules? Now it's obvious the fight is against the church
And the mosques? Are they not affected as well?
Why do we Christian's like claiming everything is an attack on the church? Why do we like crying wolf where there is none?
With the numbers been recorded everyday, does it even begin to make sense to you for any pastor to gather people into an auditorium at a time like this? Does it sound to you like the sort of thing that Jesus would do? Would he wilfully expose his people to such danger?
How can you compare markets to churches? Must we congregate in a man made building before we can worship God? What is wrong with the idea of gathering online like most churches are currently doing?
It's a palace coup against Obaseki by the APC national hierarchy
Gather here if you support Obaseki to fight back with all his might like a man rather than chicken out like one coward from Epe
I just want this new precedence of godfatherism to end in our polity from Edo to Lagos
Obaseki was a willing beneficiary of godfatherism.
Obaseki is an aspiring godfather himself.
Every Nigerian politician has one or more patrons AKA "godfather".
If you dismantle one God father's structure, 2 will rise in its place. As long as our electoral system remains the way it is currently, there will always be godfathers AKA Baba Isale.
If you don't want godfather wahala, run on your own independent platform and see how far you can go.
Neither Oshiomole nor Obaseki are fighting for any altruistic reason; they are both fighting for their pockets. When the going was good, they did not involve the masses. Now they are fighting, one is claiming to be fighting for the masses? Na lie!
Nigerian politics is a jungle. The only people that should carry it on their head are the politicians themselves and anyone benefitting from the aberration that is our political system.
The rest of us should just adopt sidon-look mode in this game of thrones.
cynosuree: Good morning. This issue has been bothering me for a long time, and I feel like it's too sensitive to ask for second opinions from people I know so I figured I'd maybe ask some strangers on the internet.
I've been with my boyfriend for about 6 months now and he's everything I ever wanted in a man. Physically, he's gorgeous, and he also loves me alot. He's kind, he's patient, communicates effectively and all. You know, all the good stuff.
But here's the problem, he cannot hold a conversation beyond "what are you doing" , "what did you eat" (and all that boring stuff) to save his life. I'm not even talking about intellectual conversations like quantum theory or anything, normal conversations about stuff that's happening around the world or around us. Anytime we try to, it usually fails spectacularly. He either ends up missing the ENTIRE point and saying something totally unrelated, or he just waits for me to say what I think so he can go "Yeeaaaa that's true" , leaving me really pissed.
He has absolutely NOTHING intelligent to contribute to any serious conversation, and this hurts me alot because it is a HUGE turn off and I'm slowly losing interest in him. It's a very tricky situation because he does/did well academically, he graduated with very good grades but that's about it...nothing more. I didn't notice it at first - before we started dating, or I would never have dated him because it is a deal breaker for me.
I have considered telling him but I don't exactly know how to approach the conversation without being rude/insensitive, I know telling him would really hurt him and I don't want that. I've also thought about learning how to live with it, because no one is perfect right? Maybe I'm asking for too much?
The latter option is what I've been doing and it's gradually killing me. I fear that I'll fall out of love completely with him and end up hating myself for ruining a good thing, because he's a really good guy .
I'd like to know what you think
Is his silence a result of his personality? Is he reticent by nature? Is he generally quiet with others or is it only when he is with you? Is there a chance that he could be uninterested in the topics you want to talk about? This are some of the questions you need to figure out answers to.
If you discover he is chatty and open when he is with others, then listen in on such conversations and decipher what topics interest him. If you notice however that he is equally reserved and non-conversational when with others, then maybe that is just how he is wired.
You probably should have a candid conversation about the situation since it bothers you so much. But please don't go sharing your thoughts on whether he is smart or not with him. Such a statement will definitely end in tears one way or another. For someone who passed with good grades, smartness is definitely not the issue. You might also be shocked that he considers you talkative.
You guys have only dated for six months. Be patient with each other.
promotervickky: Who said he is begging? Are you even in Benin? Why did he rebel against oshiomole? Oshiomole did a lot and has been doing a lot. Obaseki is just fed up with the injustice!!!!
Nigerian police is yet to claim the land oshiomole took from the police civil servants located in No 10 Okoro-tun Benin City.
If he isn't begging, why is he going up and down the country? Why is he going to meet the same Tinubu that he and his acolytes on social media have insulted several times? Ok, let say he isn't begging, couldn't he have explored all of these peaceful channels way before now?
I am not saying Oshiomole is perfect. But it was the same platform provided by the imperfect Oshiomole that brought Obaseki to power. The aggression he displayed against Oshiomole was unnecessary. He should have learnt vital lessons from Ambode's ill-fated adventure in Lagos.
I will be 30 years in a few months and I have never felt so much unease as I do right now. I work with one of the federal parastatals and I am currently on level 10 going to 12 next year. I have a Master degree athough it is not exactly relevant to my current job.
The problem is that my organisation uses the Ministry salary structure and my monthly net is below 80k even as a level 10 staff.
I am not married and I am academically inclined. Asides having a Master degree, I have over 8 professional certifications.
I have been trying to clinch a transfer of service to a better parastatal where the remuneration is better and where my knowledge/experiences as a science graduate will be better appreciated but it has been a bit difficult.
However, just before the COVID-19 episode in Nigeria, I got the right link for a transfer of service to a better parastatal but the process got stalled with the COVID-19 palaver.
I have 4 siblings who are Canadian citizens and they have been on my neck to migrate. I never took the calls seriously until this lockdown period. My siblings are arguing about the uncertainty of the Nigerian economy post-covid and advising me to seize this opportunity to migrate and start a new career over there?
My question therefore, "is it wise to stay back since I have gone quite far in my public service career and just wait for the opportunity to transfer my service to a better paying federal parastatal OR do I migrate to Canada and start a new career?
Your honest inputs will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
@CrazyMan @1forall Please I need your help in pushing this forward for a wider view. Thank you.
You can choose to be patriotic, remain in Nigeria and let the country that has given you all that you have and made you all that you are right now, draw some value from your positive contributions.
OR
You can choose to be selfish and check out for a rosy life in Canada as has been advised by so many on this thread.
Whichever one of these choices you take, you would be right and justified.
Made4naijalove: A video which is going round on social media has captured the moment a man unleashed his anger after catching his wife red handed in a hotel room with another man.
According to reports, the lady had gone to a hotel with her lover, and after some minutes, her husband arrived at the scene.
The lady who was shocked after seeing her husband in the same hotel tried to calm his anger down, but he kept on yelling at the both of them, especially his wife’s lover.
According to the husband, he has the right to kill the man for catching him in a hotel with his wife.
He doesnt have any right to kill the man. His wife is a fully grown and consenting adult who wasn't under any form of compulsion. He doesnt even have the right to kill the woman either. The only right he has is to divorce his wife.
If he kills or even harms the man or woman, he will face charges and do time in prison. In the case of death, a good lawyer can get him a manslaughter rap on the plea of extreme provocation....note that I said a GOOD LAWYER.
Best bet for the man is to thank God his wife's infidelity has been exposed. He can get a divorce or decide to settle with her.
If the only reason the man wants her to quit the job is to massage his ego, then he is not a wise man. He is insecure and a very dangerous man to have as a husband.
If I were the woman, I would not proceed with the marriage...even if he eventually concedes to letting her stay in Lagos. His request has exposed a critical flaw in his character that could play out in so many ways if she decides to go ahead with the marriage.
adadike: When I said it, people called for my head. If you have malaria, just go to NCDC office and see if you won't test positive for Covid 19. ! NCDC , stop lying to Nigerians , they have suffered enough
But how is this your claim possible? The test for Covid is through swab samples collected from the nasal tract. The test for malaria is through blood samples.
The reagents used for both tests are different.
Covid-19 is a virus while malaria is caused by a single-cell parasite.
So how can a test for malaria reveal that you have Covid-19 and vice-versa?
Has the malaria parasite which is restricted to the blood began to manifest in the nasal tract?
LandOwners: Stop the lockdown. We really need to find a way around this covid 19 thing. Let's practice social distancing, wear our face masks and hygiene.
Everyone is tired of the lock down. I am sure even government wants things to return to normal as soon a possible.
But we as a people have made a habit of not complying with government directives.
We did not comply much with the stay at home order and we aren't complying with the terms of the partial easing of the lockdown.
The terms were simple: wear a mask in public, do not crowd anywhere beyond 60% capacity, use hand sanitiser everywhere and wash your hands regularly. Have you seen that happening much around you? If you live in Lagos, just look around you. People are moving around their regular businesses with hardly any precautions.
The fact is that even if the government imposes another lockdown, compliance will still be poor and this disease is going to keep spreading.
The best bet in my opinion is that we pray for some kind of vaccine. Either that, or government needs to be a lot more radical about enforcing the lockdown or the social distancing rules.
Preciousgirl: My 30 year old brother is going to marry a 43 year old woman. The woman is never married before and has no kids but been in 7 different past relationships.
I am not endorsing this, what do you advise?
Why does he need your endorsement?
Are you the one marrying the woman?
If it works well for the couple, praise the Lord! if things go south, show your brother love and support him through his period of recovery.
Stop being selfish. Keep your endorsement to yourself and support your brother to find happiness.
If you observe all of the photos of the President holding meetings in the last few weeks, it would appear that everyone that has come into close proximity with the President has worn a face mask and gloves. I can bet they are also sprayed down with a strong disinfectant before they meet with him. That ensures the President is protected in case the visitor is infected.
With this, I don't see the need for the President to wear a mask and gloves.
idealogical: The Chadian clown is delusional, he's nervous because we are not responding to his propaganda and silly game.
He's mad because he can not hustle PMB like he used to hustle Jona for ransom and BH protection money.
Chad is not holding an inch of the Nigerian terirory, his charade fight against BH is right there inside Chad, not inside Nigeria.
He withdrew from the joint regional security forces and left Nigeria, Cameroon and Niger to fight BH because he reached am agreement with BH with the understanding that BH won't attack him and his country. He looked the other way while BH set up camps in his country, he didn't stop BH from sending weapons and fighters into Nigeria, but something changed and BH attacked and killed 92 of his men.
So, to save face, he went after BH with propaganda nd staged BH weapons and 5 killed BH on the ground.
The fact his, he didn't just found out about BH camps and bunkers on his soil, he knew all along the location of all the BH camps in his country and never shared that info with Nigeria, he knew exactly where to go to look for BH . BH just wasn't sitting there waiting. He knew their location all along.
Every time we kill BH and chase their fighters, they run into Chad and the useless Derby in Chad just let them be
The man is a crook, he's an extortionist, he probably wants money from us to fight BH just like he extorted money from Jonathan to fight BH.
He gambled with BH and lost 92 men in the process.
Same thing I have been trying to tell some of my friends who are suddenly praise-singing a key terrorist sponsor like Deby. The same bastard that scammed about 22 million dollars from the FG during President Jonathan's administration under the guise of negotiating a peace treaty with Boko Haram.
I always ask them how come Deby and his troops found so many BH camps in Chad and they did nothing about them all these while? While our soldiers are staking their lives daily keeping our borders safe, Boko Haram launches surprise attacks and then retreat deep into Chadian territory where Deby gives them a safe haven.
Same Deby that has shown an uncooperative attitude towards the MJTNF arrangement with Nigeria, Cameroon and Niger, suddenly wakes up one day to launch attacks on Boko Haram after losing men, and claims he killed 1000 Boko Haram. When we ask him to show pictures of the "1000 dead boko haram", he shows pictures of about 3 dead boko Haram and a video of him surrounded by his lieutenants talking kak and Nigerians are foolishly hailing him.
Time exposes all things. The truth will come out soon.
President Deby knows how to play up propaganda. The recent operation of the Chadian Army was all within Chadian territory. They never crossed over into Nigerian territory so all these talks of holding territory within the Nigerian space is nonsense.
Someone needs to arrest all of those people running around on Gbagada expressway in the name of exercise and show them these pictures and other horrible pictures from across the world.
Perhaps where simple common sense has failed to work and get them to sit their asses at home, some good old shock therapy will!
Macphenson: With the recent brouhaha surrounding the 5G network all over the world, prompting the Federal government to issue a statement that nobody has been licensed to operate a 5G network, I stumbled across this memo from MTN Nigeria saying they have tested 5G in Nigeria.
MTN ran a well-publicised demo of the 5G network and its benefits sometime in November 2019.
The demo was well publicised and televised. It held in their head office in Lagos and their regional offices in Abuja and Calabar. It was well attended by members of the public and government. You can google for Youtube videos of the demo. There was nothing secret about it. The demo lasted for a week and then the machines were switched off and dismantled.
The NCC or FG hasn't licensed any of the network to operate 5G in Nigeria. What MTN got was FG permission to run their demo. Huawei brought their equipment, set it up, ran the demo, shut down the machines, dismantled and everyone moved on.
holuwashezy: Oyo State governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has said that the state doesn't need to go the Lagos, Ogun, Osun and Ekiti way on total lockdown before the spread of coronavirus can be curbed.
Makinde said during a phone call conversation to a popular radio station in Ibadan on Tuesday.
The governor who reiterated that everything that can be done to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in Oyo State is on the table, that the government will continue to assess the situation and take additional measures where necessary.
Quoting the governor verbatim, he said "Yes, Lagos can be on lockdown, Ogun can be on lockdown, Oyo State, yes, people have been saying have a total lockdown and then I have been asking them questions. What will be the benefits here? Are there alternative courses of action for us to take? If you ask people not to come out, you lock down the market places, there are people who what they sell today - the profit from today’s activities is what they will eat tomorrow. There are plenty of people like that within our environment. So, are there alternatives available to us? Can we do selective lockdowns? That’s why I imposed the curfew.
"I think, everything is on the table but it has to follow a logical pattern and it will need the input of experts. We are not just going to lockdown because everyone is looking down. "I have been watching CNN and the most successful place right now in containing this is the Czech Republic. And one of the things they brought out is that they made a law that if you must leave your house, you must wear a mask. It may be that route for us to go. I have asked them to start evaluating that. If we must make that law and say everybody that must go out must wear a mask, then, how about those who cannot afford it. Can we make masks locally? Can we get our artisans and our tailors to commit to that with the government supporting? So, those are the type of solutions we are looking for."
Don't worry Seyi Makinde. You and your government should keep playing kalo-kalo with the lives of Oyo people because you don't want to toe the line of wisdom you hear! You will tell me whether Czech republic and Oyo have anything in common.
WHO has repeatedly stressed that face mask and hand gloves do not prevent the virus. Keep playing the populist politician to the depraved adulation of your social media hallelujah band!
Developed countries like US, China, France and UK have adopted total lockdown. You are talking about Czech republic and face mask? From the moment you organised a political rally after the announcement of the virus in Nigeria, I knew you were grossly overrated. I am just so glad you aren't the governor of Lagos else we would all have been dead by now.
madridguy: Better for him. I hope the boys can also drop their uniform and return back to their love ones. Boko Haram is an avenue to enrich some individual at the detriment of some peoples lives.
You realise that if the boys drop their uniforms, the entire land will be overrun in no time and there may be no "loved ones" to return to. You and I will not even have enough security to banter on Nairaland or anywhere else for that matter.
GamalNasser: I am saying what's the difference between the lockdown he ordered and the one that was already being observed in Lagos?
The difference is that both the public and private sector are now compelled to shut down fully unlike Sanwoolu that partially shut down the public service and left the private sector to use their discretion.
There are a lot of people that wanted to stay home but their offices compelled them to come into the office everyday thus exposing them and their families to risk. Now with this order, the employers will be forced to comply.
Local flights are grounded and inter and intra state vehicular movements have been seriously curtailed. All in all, much more people by this order will stay in doors.
GamalNasser: Lagos was already in lockdown for the past 6days and we were doing great so why did he have to announce the same level of lock down and trigger another round of inflation , panic buying and uncertainty ? Why ? Didn't he know Lagos was already in lock down? And besides he doesn't even have the power to do this without consulting the Governor and state assembly
You people just like talking. So in your minds, you think the President just woke up in Abuja and pronounced curfew in 3 states across the country without due consultation with the state leadership apparatus?
By the way, neither Lagos nor Abuja was on lockdown before now. When the rumour that Lagos was going to be locked down came up last week, the governor issued a statement to debunk it stating expressly that operations will be scaled down but not locked down.
Between that announcement and today, there have been over 50 new confirmed cases in Lagos. If you dont see the necessity of an immediate full lockdown of Lagos like people have been clamouring for, then perhaps you want a repeat of the Italy situation in Nigeria.
Nigerians should be expecting network fluctuation this week
Hmmm! Little do you know that MTN has been simulating telecommuting and equipping itself with a business continuity plan that enables atleast 80% of its staff work virtually from any location for about 3 years now.
Considering the numerous disruption of their regular workflow by the NLC, agberos, government, etc, it would have been foolhardy not to do that. The company has invested millions of dollars on cutting edge work tools and cloud technology that allows staff work from any where. This has been tested and simulated over and over.
Trust me, if they had not told you staff are working remotely, you wouldn't even notice. Your network will remain as stable as usual.
