Love, why must one fall in it? Why not just be in love and stay float |
This must have been a great man. It takes a feat to earn 5 pages of non-stop praise on Nairaland. RIP Mr. Tayo |
The infiltration of radical religious elements into Nigeria through the northern border clearly demonstrates the priority of the Federal Government to plug our border with Benin republic and stop the inflow of textile, tokunboh cars and imported goods while our border with Chad, Niger and Cameroon is thrown empty for all and sundry to dash across at will. |
because your husband does not pay you neither can he sack you |
at this rate, 5 years from now, Boko Haram may have their say in government. This was how MEND started. And their voice was heard loud and clear. I wonder when this spate of insanity will end in this country. |
vislabraye:They are tall, dark and handsome. And most ladies would hope that their penis would bear the same resemblance (long, dark and handsome) |
When we were holed up in the NYSC orientation camp, we were made to believe that we were government property and under the protection of the FG. We were told never to breach the fence of the camp nor travel home without the permission of the NYSC, because we were government property and under the protection of the FG. Now that 5 corpers have been kidnapped, everybody has washed their hands clean off them like they belong to no one. I urge our law makers to abolish this long-overdue and outdated scheme. This government is simply not poised again effectively manage the scheme anymore. Better for NYSC funds to be invested in something else (the education system) for instance. Let us stop tormenting our graduates long after they have endured the torment in the university. Our lawmakers (senators and federal legislators) please take action. |
They don't want to kill him unless he dies trying to vomit the money he has stolen while in office. |
@blu-girl, If this criteria is so important to you (because you are an English woman), then I advise you find someone else. There are many English language graduates loitering the streets. One of them will definitely charm you off your socks with his vocabulary arsenal |
Orikinla:This is all the advice you need. Marriage is not just some blackberry phone you buy today and return next week when something better comes by. Once you're in, you can only get out as damaged goods. So please get a good education. Your husband will come at the right time |
It has never been in the mentality of Africans to maintain anything. If it is not broken, we never fix it. We adopt the same approach to our health issues. Medical checkup remains alien to us. Unless one is struck down by illness, there remains no need for prophylaxis. |
Hardeyorlah: That's one of our biggest problems as Nigerians. Someone introduces a topic of discussion, and by the time you get to the third page, we are hurling abuse upon abuse on each other because we happen to speak different languages. For as one as we keep segregating ourselves with all these religion and ethnicity and tribalism, we will never progress as a nation, NEVER |
Honorary PhD. Is she not worthy of that? She is your First Lady, unless you have renounced your Nigerian citizenship. So bear it with dignity |
The bank officials that granted the loan should also accompany them to the EFCC. They are the ones that aid money laundering in this country |
@Knowall This is the legal profession in action. Al Capone was a notorious mass murderer, but was put away not for murder, but for tax evasion. You have to go with the biggest punch, and sometimes it's not the largest loot that earns you the largest punishment. |
MeandSum:Replace it with nothing. It has overstayed its purpose and has fulfilled its objective (re-integration of Nigeria after the Biafra Civil War). It is now a sink hole for wasting public funds that can be injected into our decrepit education system. |
Since GEJ has a facebook account, I suggest that those in support of scraping the NYSC programme should besiege his facebook page and inundate it with requests and appeals for the scraping of NYSC. By the time he gets up to 100,000 appeals/comments on his page, he may have a change of heart over the issue. |

@ Adozie, You can send your advice to the governor via info@enugustate.gov.ng. |
This appointment should delight the one who made it. When you surround yourself with mumus, you will end up either shining like a star or blending with the mumus. But then, what does a secretary do besides writing minutes of meeting?? ![]() Anyim can handle that even if the meeting was held in Swahili ![]() |
Rochas should realize that he is now a governor and not just a philanthropist. It is one thing to declare free education for all. it is another to back it up with legislation, funding and implementation. I wish him all the best |
skydeep:If you lock him out, you have given him the mandate to sleep outside with his babe. I don't think he will allow you to join him on a night out because you will spoil his runs. The picture taking technique advised earlier may work, but at the expense of losing a tooth or two. You can try buying a bottle of vodka and keep in the house. If he has the strength to lift an arm when he returns from one of those drinking sprees, then he is not drunk enough. A stiff round of vodka (one for the bed) is enough to knock him out till morning. If you want him to stop drinking, then encourage him to drink more, most drunks only stop when their liver fails them. Then they come home and stay home. |
EFCC don come again. If they have any proof of wrong doing against a criminal, why are they giving the criminal the option of accepting an invitation to their office. Whatever happened to apprehending/arresting a suspect? Sometimes I wonder how we reason in this country of ours. |
This is the same man who has been longing to be president. I believe that Buhari is a very vindictive man. This is one of the vices that has kept him away from the presidency. He is what he has always been, A KHAKI SOLDIER |
51 years after independence, we are still reeling out of the grips of colonial mentality. I wonder when ballroom dancing became Nigerian. I wonder what song they danced to, Lady Gaga |
Excerpts from the latest Wiki releases xxxxxxxxxxxx contended that Yar'Adua "always" craved power, dating back to the days when Yar'Adua first contested and lost the governorship of Katsina state in 1991. Indeed, xxxxxxxxxxxx remarked, Yar'Adua's politically prominent family "bred" him to assume office in the future. However, xxxxxxxxxxxx asserted that throughout Yar'Adua's administration in Katsina, his performance suffered due to his poor health, which contributed to his constant fatigue, and to "an inability to govern." Whereas Katsina state commissioners and permanent secretaries routinely worked twelve-hour days, xxxxxxxxxxxx said that governor Yar'Adua himself entered the office at 10:00am and returned home around 3:00pm each day. According to xxxxxxxxxxxx Yar'Adua seemed disinterested in engaging in the requisite politicking that is the hallmark of political relations between elected leaders and power brokers in the North, and Nigeria generally. Yar'Adua's disinclination to travel while governor, even to neighboring states to meet with the northern political elite, also perpetuated his political isolation. During his tenure as governor of Katsina, xxxxxxxxxxxx maintained, Yar'Adua appeared deliberative and ruthless in managing the affairs of his state. While intelligent, Yar'Adua, according to xxxxxxxxxxxx neither tolerated disagreement nor insubordination. xxxxxxxxxxxx noted that Yar'Adua ultimately relied on a handful of confidants, whom xxxxxxxxxxxx considered sycophants more than dispassionate consultants. xxxxxxxxxxxx said that Yar'Adua, paradoxically, routinely ignored the counsel of even his purportedly trusted advisers, preferring instead, to make his own decisions. In so doing, xxxxxxxxxxxx said, Yar'Adua had been assessed by some other northern elders as both an unimpressive leader, and an irresponsible one. xxxxxxxxxxxx suggested that while Yar'Adua served as governor of Katsina, Yar'Adua's wife Hajiya Turai Yar'Adua, manipulated him into diverting millions of dollars of funds from the state treasury into private Yar'Adua family accounts. xxxxxxxxxxxx alleged that Yar'Adua used these stolen funds to construct a lavish private residence in Katsina and to finance family vacations to the Middle East and the UK (Ref A). Though xxxxxxxxxxxx acknowledged that Yar'Adua as former governor had built primary and secondary schools in Katsina, xxxxxxxxxxxx criticized Yar'Adua for failing to properly fund the training of teachers for those schools. As a result, xxxxxxxxxxxxx said, unlike in the past, under Yar'Adua's two terms as governor, Katsina students consistently failed to meet national standards in math and reading assessments. xxxxxxxxxxxx said that for Yar'Adua, "it was all about the spectacle of governing." Even the roadways in Katsina, xxxxxxxxxxxx said, may have been impressive, particularly when compared to the deplorable road network in other parts of the North, however, xxxxxxxxxxxx alleged that while the roads had been built, the contract costs were egregiously inflated and the excess funds were siphoned. xxxxxxxxxxxx said some Katsina road contracts had been given to non-existent, "ghost" companies, which were secretly "owned" by Turai Yar'Adua. xxxxxxxxxxxx allegations of Turai Yar'Adua's contract-related corruption in Katsina also seem credible in light of similar claims previously reported by the Mission since she became the First Lady (see Ref A, for example).xxxxxxxxxxxx perspective may help shed light on President Yar'Adua. As reported (Ref C), we believe the President has two sides: one, for international consumption; and the other, which turns a blind eye to certain rule of law issues, particularly as it pertains to his wife. Then-governor Yar'Adua's unwillingness to engage in the necessary politicking to build a broad base of support in Katsina may have been relatively insignificant against the backdrop of insular Katsina state, or even northern regional, politics. However, as president of a diverse nation, with competing regional interests and powerful patronage networks, Yar'Adua's continued political isolation (even within the North) may illustrate, to an extent, why even today Yar'Adua has not fully succeeded in truly stamping his authority on the PDP or the Presidency. |
@Poster: Your story is a very pathetic one. I would advise you leave your sisters and go back to the hostel. Your sisters will kill you if they hear of this. They may not necessarily leave their husbands because they may actually have accepted the fact that their husbands are cheating. Women may appear dumb but men are dumber when it comes to covering their trail when they cheat on their wives. Unfortunately, many do cheat these days. What you did is wrong, but I doubt if you intend to stop. You have eaten the forbidden fruit. You still want some more. Life's like that. If you are willing and determined to put an end to this before your sisters give you rat poison, then you have to make a move. For now, seal your crutch and pack your bag. When you do, the next problem to combat will be the karma aspect which will surely come around someday. But handle that one when it comes. Act now! Tomorrow may be too late! |
I wonder how this Mr Onno Ruhl became an expert in Nigerian affairs. Anyway, it is quite predictable that he would not blame corruption for Nigeria's woes. That would draw the ire of his clients (the Nigerian government officials), who will call for his replacement if he does. A man who is willing to take the risk to move public funds across security checks to a Swiss bank account does not lack the will to move forward. Our leaders are corrupt, they stifle opposition and immerse the masses in poverty. In the midst of poverty, the lay man can only think of how to get his next meal, and will strive to achieve that even if he has to sell his conscience. |
I would take these kinds of reports with a pinch of salt. Has anyone bothered to verify the authenticity? Do the FBI have jurisdiction in Nigeria? Did they release any of these reports on their website? Has the US embassy in Nigeria substantiated these reports? Who is this Chinedu Offor in Washington that is a correspondent to both pointblanknews and The Sun? The Sun . ![]() |
@Abydee, A number of people have proffered some very good advice to you, and I hope you can learn from some of them (especially CC). As a man, i would like to add that marriage has its stages. If you wedded in a church, then you must recognize this phase (the "for worse" phase). The ideal marriage never changes and remains evergreen. But considering that even time always changes; you should expect some of these changes that you are passing through. No one in a marriage has any experience beyond the one he or she has gone through. So, the idea is to learn as you go along and also sometimes to learn from friends. One of the dilemmas about men is that most of us would rather impress our friends than impress our wives. And since most of our friends are not essentially the best of role models, they end up rubbing off on us in the worst of manners. Having said these, you have been blessed with something that some families lack; something that is a joint product of you and your husband; and that is your child(ren). This is the time to split your attention and love between your husband and your children. A lot of men “wake Up” from their slumber and “come back home” when they realize that their children is slipping away from them. That is not to say that you should use your kids against your husband. Far from that; you should invest your effort in strengthening the bond between you and your children. Your husband will notice that as time goes on, and will come to the realization sooner or later that “this project we jointly started together is slipping out of my reach”. So hold on and keep striving. Do not relent. We all are learners and students in the classroom of marriage which has no breaks, holidays nor recreation. We are learning all the time. |
The Brits should keep the mask. We can always log on to the internet to see it or visit the UK if so desperate to see it. If it is returned to Nigeria, can we preserve it? We cannot even preserve common ice fish. |
Just to think that it took the military to nail him. SHAME ON THE NIGERIAN POLICE. Osisi's girlfriend should be thoroughly interrogated. Definitely she will reveal so much more about their operations. I even believe she will be killed very soon in detention if she is handed over to the police because she will definitely implicate so many police officers involved in kidnapping in Aba. I stand to be corrected. |

. What will be done to a man that keeps coming home drunk especially occasionally? I know of a woman that suffers beating each time her husband comes home drunk. Packing out is not an option, what then can be done?
