Angelfrost:
Thank you for your courteous response... The instances you gave are also commonplace here in Nigeria. Courtesy (Polite gesture or act) is quite distinct from respect (high regard, honor or admiration for a person).

You can actually show someone (anyone even) courtesy without having any regard for the person... Courtesy can be momentary, but respect, once earned, can be indefinite.

Finally, most people show courtesy when convenient for them, or to win admiration not essentially out of respect... Courtesy comes in different forms, and it's not narrowed to one thing i.e. It's a form of courtesy to stand up for an elder when he is standing... It's also courteous to politely re-direct an elder sitting on the wrong seat to his rightful seat.
In this stance, The elderly has already taken and settled on a seat.. Are u implying that what the young man did was polite and good by trying to redirect the elderly man to sit somewhere else.. what happens to good manners?

Some people are gonna grow old some day and unfortunately some might not see old age.. Old age comes with weaknesses and stress because the body is no longer what it was.. How will u feel when the time comes and a young man wouldn't even give a hoot if u were sitting or standing in a public space...

I don't expect you to try and argue with this just to sound smart... That young man's up bringing should be questioned.. Good manners can take one to where qualifications and connections can't..

No one deserves respect... In sane societies, you actually earn it.

Now, say after me: "Respect is to be earned, not demanded".
I am quoting u because u mentioned sane society.. Actually, if Australia is seen as a sane society, then when you are in a public transport, u don't have to earn any respect.... priorities are given to elders, disabled, nursing mothers with kids.. it's just common courtesy... U won't even know when you will get up for an elderly if u were sitting in front.. it's like an autopilot thing...

Though in this case it's not a public transport but it wouldn't take the young man much to seek out where the old man 's seat was and take his place.. especially since he was travelling alone.. I have vacated my seat for a young guy on a plane once so that he can sit with the girl friend.. I even enjoyed the new seat because I was alone...

Washing machine would have solved this problem a bit..
Cleaners would have solved a bit of their problem..

I don't care about their marriage but I'm concern about the innocent kid caught up on this...
If the mother travels to Ghana abandoning an eight years old kid, will she be able to take care of that kid now in her custody.. Do you think the Judge's rulings was on the child's best interest?

You guys should storm that school.. If my suspicion was correct, U just wash your hands off him like Pilate.. He has made his bed...

Family › Re: Why The High Rate Of Suicides? by Richy4(m): 9:39pm On Jun 19, 2019
The suicide trend among the Youth is really disturbing.. I don't even know whom to blame or where to point fingers @.. Is it technology that is eating more of family time.. If you get to a restaurant, u might not be surprised anymore seeing a family of 5 in a table.. they hardly speak to each other because the father was on social media, wife was also checking.. the 3 kids were chatting away with their phones with their fingers typing speedily .. the only time they get to say anything was when the waiter ask what they wants to order ..immediately they said it, every one goes back to the phone..

No more family time to chat and know what is happening with the kids even when social media bullying has skyrocketed..

What about the teachers.. They made failure in school look more like a taboo.. neither do they explain nowadays to the kids that it is ok to make mistakes and also learn from it... nor do they explain that failure sometimes in school is not a death sentence but the abilities to get up is the real deal...

I don't even wanna talk about the spiritual leaders.. Everyone only talks more of prosperity.. No one talk about Hell fire.. even if it might be false or true, at least those days in my sundayschool as a little boy.. the story of hell fire puts a lot of us in check.. it was like a chill pill..
We were told then that suicide attempt is hellfire automatic.. so no one wants to even think about it... Maybe this Morden day religion is not doing enough.. except prophesying for riches to those that cares..

Thetrueglobalma:
I do not know religion so having sex or a child out of wedlock is not wrong to me. Thanks all the same.
I don't even understand you based on this answers you have given.. Fornication is an English word.. got nothing to do with religion. . .. love child is another word for "illegitimate kid" Or the derogatory word is bast@rd... Is that what you want your kids to be known as? I never said it was right or wrong but while thinking about yourself only, u can also think about the innocent children u wanna be bringing into the world outside wedlock... like it or not the stigma has not all gone or eradicated in Africa...

If u like, you can be a d!ck for rent or a vultures that isn't anyone's bird... no one cares but your kids deserved to have identity.. and for you to do that what is the right thing to do?

For example when someone ask "Who is that boy...? "

The answer will be " he is one of the son of Thetrueglobalma that the Abarkalike woman gave birth to.. There's also the others that women from Ijebu and idoma gave birth to... in such situation, your action has adversely affected your kids...

No one cares.. marry if u want, don't if u don't want to.. but when your action indirectly affects others negatively.. I think it is wrong. ..

Some of them will understand your actions... But most of the Bros mIght not understand u especially when what he borrowed was clothes ... Guys are more laid back... I hope your Bros in nother the type that keeps things in his memory bank... if he is, don't be surprise in 30 years this might come up...

Oh!! I feel really sad reading this and I also feel sorry for those two friends of yours.. This is because as u know, no one is perfect. If they unintentionally offends you, u will be shattered like glasses.. no one might even pick the pieces..I guess they have to tiptoe around u when the subject of going out comes up...

I would have asked you how you managed to pass through an interview phase and got for yourself a job.. if you were not chewed during the interview, then trust yourself that u can overcome the anxiety...

I want you to know that no one was looking at you during the church gathering.. your mindset wants u to believe that people were judging u which is lies..

I will suggest that you u ask your friend to take u there again and again... it is called meeting your demons eyeball to eyeball.. Confront your fears because all fears wanted was for you to do what you have done which was to go home and cry.. tell yourself U don't wanna do that again... and mean it... U have taken the baby step by going the first time to meet with people..it was not successful but remember babies while walking tends to fall but they usually try again and again... please try again and again just like babies do while trying to walk..

All u needed in life is motivation... If u find someone in life who can believe in you, u will make it.. A good motivator..it's unfortunate that you were blessed with sperm and womb donor.. not parents..

First thing you have to do is to believe in yourself.. Do not do any blame game..

Try and get your act right then every other thing will follow... See is as a challenge..

Thanks to all the people that contributed helpful advice, especially the females and the few understanding males. I will have a discussion with him to convince him of the importance of my going. I think that is best for both of us presently.

To the guy that said my marriage will crash, God forbid.
My marriage will never crash in the name of God. Whatever you wish on my marriage will return to you tenfold.
It's Not a matter of saying your marriage with not crash in Jesus name... A prayer without work is dead..... I don't basically know about how grounded you were in Literature back then in high school... But a lot of us can read between the line...even if it was two paragraphs... The overwhelming use of personal pronouns to describe your notion of marriage and the place of your husband says a lot about this woman and her ambition. Fortunately, she has find the validation she passionately seeks on a silver platter. Congratulations!
My brother u saw those personal pronouns too?... Many happy couples that I know uses "WE" & "OUR" in their conversation as if it was running out of fashion...
But this particular one was shockingly using "I" and "My" one just wondered the kind of relationship they have going on @ home.. ... I am not against her moving but make it a team work... I used to hear that two heads were better than one... Even if it was to bad heads, at least they will join together to make it worse... If marriage were to be I and MY, what is the use.. is it not better to remain single and make your decision by yourself,

Let us say that in job interview, u were asked this question.. As a team member how would you convince your fellow workers to do what was new (this idea will be beneficial to the company if it being adopted )... How will u present your case?

I WILL SUGGEST THAT YOU USE THE SAME PROCESS TO DEAL WITH YOUR PRESENT CASE SCENARIO..

To be honest a lot of people here doesn't give a hoot if your marriage fail because of this... There's gonna be a lot of outrageous idea given to you... Some that they themselves will not do... Any wrong move could cost you your marriage

But remember one thing... You chose your husband before the kids started rolling out...Work as a team. I have seen your write up... In my opinion it sound like someone asking for validation for a divorce.. All I saw was my kids..my kids.. my kids.. and is not encouraging one bit..

Don't allow 200k to cost you a good relationship you may have invested for years... If u are a salaried person, There's no job security anywhere in the world.. Sit him down and Present your case to your husband and work amicably..

I met this lady in January and I let her know from the beginning of our relationship that I want to settle down soon. We love other very well but the challenges I am having with her is that she's not mentally ready for marriage.
When I try to interrogate her she told me that she find it difficult to convince her parents because she is just in 100 level though she's 24yrs old. I try to convince her that I'll make sure that her education is not suffered since we are not in the same state. I told her that I believe her parents will allow her to settle down with me depending on her reaction at home when notice that she's really serious considering her age.
Please I need your advice on how to convince her further.
Thanks
Brother please leave that sermon... You totally forgot that her dad was in that field before you and may have played the "your education will not suffer" game you were trying to play here.. The game is still the same game but different players bro cheesy

Once she is married.. and you storm from your different state and gets her pregnant, will she terminate it?
If that happens, you will change your sermon... and start reading the epistle on how Chioma, Linda, Hawa and Bisi coped with pregnancy while studying in University... Please let her finish her studies first..

Thank you. I’m that kind of person that hates crowds, If i have to interact with more than 2 people at once that I’m not familiar with, I get very paranoid and I start feeling very uncomfortable, that’s why I just avoid birthdays, or church events. I stay at home a lot. I know that’s one of my problems. I also think I’m very insecure, but nobody is perfect and I still have v good qualities about myself. I just don’t want to wait until I’m 30 then I’m running around looking for my husband, you get? I want to start now that I’m still in my 20s.
I got you dear.. That's why I am sounding like a broken record for you to work on that... No one is perfect I know.. even me that is typing this nonsense.. but I know one thing about myself that i am a go getter and when i want something I put in an effort to get it... that's how it works

You wanted a relationship that could end up in Marriage, Try and make an effort without getting yourself embarrassed... . Come out of your comfort zone a little it might help.. Start up like a crazy lady and enroll as an usher in your church.. if u welcome 5 or 6 people, assign seat or talk to them, u might look back after service and think aloud.... was it really me that did this? Just given u a life experience..

I have 2 questions for you.
Are you abroad ?
Are you single ?
Are you a christian ?

There are single people abroad, I am talking of people with the same values and convictions...
Actually, U asked three questions.. So which one do i erase? smiley

Anyways...I can't go around announcing my geographical location. it is childish But yes I am outside Nigeria..Some people are commitment phoebes that could be why they are single and does not want to get tied down ...and Yes I am a christian..

Just want to let u know that this is not about me.. It's about the fact that u made it look like staying abroad and being single is a sentence to life everlasting boredom... It is not and based on the value you were talking about you can still have a wonderful life abroad without going to a night club or bar..if that's what you are insinuating...

The Value you were talking about, Have u asked the OP if she has tried to locate people with the same value and conviction as u put it in her locality or location? It's not cool to paint everyone with the same brush.. There are people that are still good and still have that gentlemanly qualities in them..
U made mention that u will be traveling to Nigeria to hunt for a wife, I hope u won't make the same mistake others has been making.. Thinking that home based is better than those abroad..If you don't know who u want to marry and you think u will know her within 3 months period of your holidays, you might be in for a shocker... I don't wanna read your story here on how you went and brought a girl abroad to marry and she changed over night..

Majority of people advising this poster are not abroad. Or they came to the abroad already married so they have no idea what it means to be a single, lonely , isolated, minority in a very individualised environment.

If you are already married or in Nigeria you will not understand so I will advise OP to listen to me. grin grin grin

Yeah, cos I am also going through the same thing right now.

Having said that, if you are someone that has lived in Naija or Africa having that sense of wanting to raise a good home, you will quickly find out majority of the people out here in the west are a downgrade from what you deserve or what your expectations are.

For me, what I see are very weak moralled people and I do not blame any one here, its just they way the society has conditioned them.

And the fact the p oster is female does not help matters cos unlike someone like me who is a guy and I can actually start hunting for people on the social media or whatsap groups, majority of people may prey on the poster if she does that.

So my suggestion is this, would you mind going back to Nigeria to spend a couple years to sort out that part of your life ?

I have about 3 years to stay where I am to get my citizenship so unless things change , I will probably just stay here till I get the citizenship and then go back to Nigeria to get a woman and probably come back here .

Its better not to be married, or marry late than to marry the wrong person.

I pray you find the peace you seek, I am currently in the same shoes as you and I can tell you, its a terrible place to be.

But with adequate planning things will become better. Just be patient.

You can hit me via mail, ayonaira@yahoo.com
Being abroad got nothing to do with her situation. In the so called abroad there are lots of activities that are always going on... A potential suitor or husband cannot find her at the comfort of her bedroom.. if she continues to lock herself up every time.. If she wants something she should get up and get what she wanted.. husband is not a pizza that u stay at home and order online...

Based on your argument, independence day is always celebrated outside Nigeria.. Which one does she identify herself with..

Nigerians celebrate end of year party all over the world where they were formed.. Does she attend?..

OK let us say she doesn't like to mingle with Nigerian activities abroad, What about church activities.. where lots of people from different background were invited..does she attend?.... if she is working, At least some colleagues must have invited her for a birthday party and other work related function, does she attend?

U made your argument sound like living abroad as a single man or woman was boring.. it is not.. Infact it's the most liberating.. She should work on herself first.. her insecurity and self esteem is pretty bad... Even going back to Nigeria to hunt for a husband will not solve it...

Just 25 and u want to Develop HBP ... Can u even imagine the nonsense coming out from your mouth?... if I were to be your dad I will just send u inside the house and flog u six strokes for even thinking that u are not desirable anymore.. who gave u such notion in the first place?

Besides is marriage the beginning and end of a fulfilled life? Have you not seen people rushing in and rushing out of it?

If marriage is your definition of a wonderful life, then use two years to work on your insecurity and self esteem ... because I can't see a reason why a man will not be friendly with a woman because he was befriending u or married to u..
Unless you can try a physically challenged person like a blind man who cannot see but feel only your presence or talks only to u.. if not, no man on this earth will seclude himself just because he was married to u... it's not gonna happen... Even if you were the queen of England...

Get yourself prepared because there's a point in a marriage when the paradise screaming wonderful love life will reduce....then only trust and tolerance will take over... if that should happen in your situation, then What will u do?.. don't beat yourself up for nothing.u are not ready..
if u rush it u will be miserable... I guess because some of your class mates or course mates were getting married like it was an epidemic and feel u too must join the band wagon.. it doesn't work that way..

A grown man, that got a mind of his own.. Who can distinguish between right and wrong.. U still imply that he has the mindset of a toddler therefore could be easily manipulated... at this 21st century u still think like our great grand mothers that feels that men got no common sense... I have never heard "he snatched his wife " always " She snatched her husband or boyfriend "

Maybe the girl in question might even be younger than the man.. and she was to be blamed according to U. .

Please OP stop this nonsense... The man left on his own accord.. Delete the girl's picture and demand an answer from the husband he should be fully accountable and liable to whatever.... leave the girl out of this and face the randy man..
