@Salamander,
The beams that are receiveavable in west africa are the SE zones(e.g that of RTI La Premiere,3743H,3220 Cote D'Ivoire which I receive with up to 70% signal qaulity).All the NE zones are not receivavble inWest africa.So the new GTV tp is not for WesT Africa. Hope I'm making some sense
Thanks captainus. Could you kindly check the beam in www.flysat.com and let me know your thoughts.

@adwest
Please there are very discerning people so mind your language. If you can't stand the heat, get out from the kitchen

I just found out GTV (Ghana) has just gotten a new transponder on 34.5 deg West (3903 L 2532). Looking at the beam in Flysat, it is reacheable in West Africa so with the MCA Nigeria beam. But the same information on Lyngsat shows the beam is in NE Zone which according to the footprint is not reacheable in West Africa. I'm a bit confuse, any explanation?

Great piece there! We need more of those. As the saying goes, "If your Monday will be good, you can see the signs from Sunday night". Judging from your first post, I believe we are going to have big treat of knowledge here.

And welcome too simacoltd!

I'm very much interested as what you might find. I also have the same notion that if Lagos can get Nilesat, then Accra should also get it. But do you know anyone in Accra or Ghana in general that gets Nilesat?

Be careful please, your response has nothing to do with FTA. This is not a religious forum huh
I believe you misunderstood me. I just reminded him to use the right word. I would have done the same if he had used the word 'cripple' instead of 'physically challenge'. I remembered issues of correct grammar was raised sometime back. And I believed that too has nothing to do with FTA.

I believe the geographical location of Accra and Lagos will enable us (Accra) to get Nilesat. I'll give it a try. I'm particularly interested in the theory of 1.8m picking Nilesat in Lagos. You know we are talking of space here, so if 1.8 can do the trick, I believe it will save us a lot of headache.

@Captainus
I dey like I no dey. Specifically which part of Southern Ghana are you? Hope you are not leaving in the sea somewhere. Do you pick Nilesat?

A friend of mine was tracking W3A @ 7 degree and to his surprise some channels of NSS7 C Band notably, Foxafrica, 2M Monde, Algeria, etc. using transponder 11262 H 27500 appeared. To be extra sure, he came home and repeated the experiment and had the same result.

Any clue how this could be possible?

kalonji:
hello guys:

    I Live in Ghana, i know this is nigerian forum, but seems there are some ghanians over here . Well, i just moved to Ghana, and  ma trying to figure out how things are over here.
      If anybody from Ghana,(Tema-Accra area) can tell me where can i get satellite equipment, 1.8 m, 90 cm dish and diseq,lnb,etc. I have een here around one month bu i havent found any place where they sell this equipment, only dstv,gtv installers who ask me for ridiculous prices for all this things.
    I have anoher questions for people here in west Africa: anybody is doing cardsharing over here?i don't know if u people have experience with dreambox or similar decoders with ethernet cardsharing abilitys, at the moment im using my old Kaon decoder , but my dreambox is on the way, and when i have it fully installed, im planning to do some cardsharing. Ive been checking the net, i ve seen some people they are offering canal sat horizons and Dstv on cardsharing(i don't think they are offering as a local), but don't know how reliable are they.

If anybody can help me this please

I live in Accra. I don't know where sat equipment are sold in Tema but in Accra, go to Compudata at Osu. They are retailers for Strong Technologies.

As you rightly put, cardsharing has never being a hot topic. There could be a reason why. So if you can share your experience, we are all ready to learn.

i live in tema,ghana and very much interested in fta. so far i intend getting hooked on 22.0w nss7, 7.0w nilesat on one dich and whilst getting 68.5e intelsat 7/10, 78.5 e thaicom5 on another dish. yeah u might say i'm greedy. but i can't help it if i know i can get all of the above for free.
my main corncern is, does anybody on this forum who lives in ghana has a idea of what i need to get my dream come true.
I live in Accra. You have to get 3m dish motorised. You need about 4m dish to get nilesat. Thaicom? I wonder if anyone gets it in Ghana.

Yes, MTV, Cartoon Network Africa, Hallmark Channel and ESPN Africaon Intelsal 7/10 @68.5E on 3836 V 20600 are free for now. But these are Multichoice channels and there is no guarantee they would stay free for that long. The History channel and Fashion TV on 3863 V 20600 are also free for now.

KBC is also on 3661 V 14070 and a new channel MF Network on 3590 V 26400 all on Intelsat 7/8

I think the price ranges between 200GHC upwards. But I'll prefer the mesh. I don't know anyone getting nilesat in Accra. What birds are you on?

I live in Accra too. It is not possible to pick the SABC channels on 62.E with 1.8m dish. You have to get at least 2.4m.

Though this forum is meant for those in Nairaland, I believed it has gone international. I live in Accra and have benefited immensely from the posts here.

I believe the birds available in Lagos are the same birds available here in Accra hence we could share our experiences. Kudos to all!

We have to make our voices heard so that certain birds could be beamed here in West Africa. I look for the day when Hotbird would be available to us!

Hi all

I'm a computer enthusiast. I developed the interest during one of my visits to Saudi Arabia and began to try my hands on it.

For sometime, I have been looking for something like this forum that would be dedicated to Africa and for Africa. I used to visit satellites.uk but since I got involved here, I've in total love to the forum.

Thank you all for the wonderful work.

@peacenlove
I would be glad if you can hook up with me when in Accra so I can tap some of your vast experience. My cell is 233 24 421 9076. or mail salamandercat@yahoo.com

I cannot help but to partake in this mind bugling discussion. I'm not a scientist but a free thinker. And I believe very soon we would be traveling thru time. It is there all along but just that people have not realised that. Our wizards and witches have been doing that all these while. It is up to us, Africans, to make a scientific proof out of it. Believe me, come out with a formula and witchcraft would be a course in our schools.
