Family › Re: What Secret Is My Husband Hiding? by Solatium(m): 4:35pm On May 16, 2020 |
Tasha7: Hello, I am a black woman born and raised in North America and married to an Igbo man. We have been in a long distance relationship for the majority of our relationship. We got married almost 2 years ago while still long distance and he recently immigrated to Canada in Jan 2020 under the spousal sponsorship. He has a wonderful bond with my mother and sisters. (my father has passed). I have met his family and we get along very well.
Everything was going well until I was looking up something in the search history of the laptop we both share and stumbled across emails he had recently accessed. Please note, I could not read the email itself, I could only see the subject lines in the search history. I will attach pictures if possible. It wasn't a normal email account like yahoo or Gmail. It was from a website called: Roundcube webmail. I had never heard of it before. Anyway, there were a bunch of emails forwarded from a hotel in Istanbul where people were being asked to pay their outstanding hotel bill (unfortunately I didn't take a screenshot of the hotel stuff). In addition to that, there were emails to 2 different women (named Wendy and Elizabeth) with the subjects: re: Thank you for written, re: back from customs baby, re: I am so happy our paths have crossed re: I am writing you with much sadness in my heart etc. I will try to attach the screenshots I took.
Lastly, within the same search history, my husband seemed to have been looking up songs like: 'what songs make a woman feel confident about herself' and 'what if I never get over you', and 'songs that make a woman feel beautiful'.
I confronted my husband that same night. It was 2am. He was already sleeping. I woke him up bc I wanted to catch him off guard. His explanation was that his friend in Cyprus had a bad internet connection and asked him (my husband) to look up something in his friends email account. He insisted that he had no idea what his friend was up to, as it was none of his business. In the process of me confronting him, he grabbed the laptop from me and deleted the search history. I told him that was making him look real guilty and I started packing my things to leave. He pleaded and insisted it had nothing to do with him, it was his friends email account blah blah blah. I wanted to believe him but some things just didn't add up...like why was he looking up those songs if he was just checking his friends email for him? His only saving grace was that the subject lines were written with poor grammar and my husband has excellent English speaking and writing skills.
Fast forward a few weeks later, my husband left the bathroom to put out the garbage and accidentally left his phone in the bathroom playing music. This is significant because he has never parted from his phone from the day he arrived. He sleeps with his phone beside him. He showers and uses the bathroom with his phone beside him. When he cooks, he keeps his phone beside him. The day in question, I went into the bathroom and locked the door shortly after he left the bathroom. Side note: I only lock the door bc sometimes he jokingly sneaks up on me to scare me while I am in the shower, so to avoid being snuck up on, I sometimes lock the door. I digress. I commenced using the bathroom when I noticed that hubby left his phone on the side of the bathtub with Nigerian gospel music blasting. I was shocked! It was the first time he was separated from his phone! I didn't touch his phone and started using the bathroom. Within 15 seconds, my husband started knocking on the door saying he really needed to use the bathroom and wanted me to open the door. He was saying he really needed to pee. I asked him to hold a minute, because I was on the toilet. He said he didn't believe me and then things escalated from there. He started pounding really hard on the bathroom door, demanding that I open the door because he really needed to pee. He was eventually pounding so hard and yelling to the point where he started to lose his voice! I was freaked out! I told him to hold on and I would be done in a minute! But he wouldn't listen and eventually broke open the bathroom door by force...there is literally a large crack down the bathroom door now. I was shocked. Beyond words. Once he broke down the door, he quickly did a scan of the bathroom and saw his cellphone was right where he left it. I didn't touch it. Then he was more calm. He then reiterated that he really needed to pee and went into the shower, pulled the curtain and turned on the water.
I started freaking out. I started yelling telling him that he was a liar and if there was any doubt in my mind he was hiding something, I need not doubt it anymore! He broke down the bathroom door NOT because he really nedded to pee, but because he was so terrified I was going to snoop through his phone! Of course he denied it. He was saying that if that was the case, the first thing he would have done is grab his phone. I responded saying that he's not stupid, if he grabbed his phone first, it would have made him look guilty. After that blow up, we stopped talking to each other for days...
And here I am today. If anyone could provide me insight into what is going on, I would be so appreciative. What is this hotel stuff and what are these msgs to multiple women? I am thinking he may be involved in a 419 scam or his friend is a yahoo boy....but why is he using such poor grammar when he speaks and writes excellent English?
I am so stressed over all of this that it is literally consuming my every thought. My husband only denies everything and gets defensive then ignores me if I keep pushing for answers. Outside of this incident he is incredibly loving and affectionate and treats my mother so well. He cares so much about what she thinks of him.
I have turned to this forum with the hopes that someone would have more insight into what is going on. Thank you so much to anyone who has taken the time to read this very long post and respond. I truly appreciate it. Again, I attached photos, but scratched out names just in case.
Thank you,
Tasha You already know what he's into, your husband is a smart Alec,it will take a longer period with loads of patience to catch him red handed. But to to make it quick and efficient, get in touch with your Internet service provider for the webaddress he has been visiting. Shalom |

Wiifesnatcher: Dear Nairalanders and car expertise in the house, I have passion for transport business but I have been contemplating on which one to settle with between Toyota corolla 2008 model for uber or Mini bus Suzuki for local transport within my jurisdiction here in Ikorodu.
Please, I need enlightenment because I don't want to engage in business I will later regret investing on.
NB: I have 750k at hand for now but I'm still expecting help to make it 1m. But with the cash at hand, is mini bus Suzuki sellable, will I gain if I'm to drive it around my jurisdiction or should I just continue saving for the Toyota corolla for uber
Your contributions will be highly appreciated. God bless y'all as you educate me
Please help me move this to front-page, let sensible Nairalanders educate me GO AND BUY THAT SUZUKI AND DRIVE IT YOURSELF AROUND THAT IKORODU,YOU WILL NEVER REGRET IT. E-HAILING BUSINESS A.K.A UBER IS NO LONGER PROFITABLE,SO MANY DRIVER'S IN THE SAME MARKET TRYING TO FETCH THE SAME NUMBER OF PASSENGERS. You spend a lot on repairs and commission if you drive on Uber. But on korope, your maintenance is not that much and you only pay agbéró Some few cash, above all you go dey always get passenger once you know you way. Chuky7: Since growing up I have always been accustomed to the idea of double up my degree. Not like it's a bad thing but what purpose does it serve to run a Masters or PhD program in the long run.
My Dad is always telling me to do one program here and there. It gets tiring honestly as I don't consider myself an academic per se and I would only put in effort when I see something is absolutely necessary.
A cousin of mine once went to the UK for her masters, previously working at a brewery. She told me that going for this program would guarantee her an upgrade in department level
Has anyone here gotten any similar experiences, share your story or those you know of. Were you ever selected for a job based on that or a promotion? It pays when you are already on a job. it pays at the long run if you like the sound of Msc attached to your name. it pays when you don't have to spend your savings to acquire one when the prospect of getting a job is not here. But you will be highly disappointed if you think it will land you an automatic job slot,so many people with Masters. the only degree I know that you have a job guarantee on is PhD |
Family › Re: Time To Divorce My Wife? by Solatium(m): 5:29pm On May 05, 2020 |
noakchukibadan: Hello,
Please no ethnic banters. One of us is from Ekiti, and the other is from Benue. I am married for 8 years with 2 kids. It has been one problem to another.
I must be very frank, before marriage, my wife had many very questionable characters, but unfortunately we did the marriage counseling in a church were the pastor happened to be her family member. Many of the issues would have been resolved, but when I raised those issues about her character the pastor promised me that everything will be fine after the marriage. Although this is not an excuse, but looking back now I would have been more patient and taken my decision myself instead of rushing into the marriage. For this I HOLD MYSELF ACCOUNTABLE
There is hardly nothing we do not quarrel about, I have always been the one to initiate settlement. The only way I ensure that there is peace in the house is for me not to complain about anything. Even at that, there is always trouble. If the children do anything wrong, she always says those characters the children are exhibiting are not from her and that she is not surprised that they inherited such characters from me.
She can go for months without talking to me, even if I tried to, I have done all I could do, I have begged, cried prayed. I just feel tired and exhausted from trying to make the marriage work or have peace in the home, the sad part is that she often reminds me every time there is misunderstanding that I should remember that she can stay on her own without talking to any body. Just to add, she is very prayerful.
OTHER INFORMATION. 1. I can say conveniently that there is no money problem at home. Finance is okay. 2. I went to see her father 2 years ago, the man said unfortunately he can not do anything. This is true because she was raised away from her Father, she has no contact with any of her fathers family and her father has a zero say in her life. 3. she has 5 elders ones, non of them is in communication with her because of many unresolved issues. Of her 3 younger ones she only maintains a relationship with the last boy who is just 14 years. . 4. Her mum can not talk to her because she simply dares not. However, behind, her mother use to beg me and she kept saying she understands her daughter's character and that she is doing her best by praying and doing deliverance for her. 5. She is not in contact with her maternal uncles and aunt because she said they supported her elder ones when she had problem with them.
So I am stuck with no one to help call the both of us and resolve the issue.
Every year for 5 straight years, she always forgets my birthday, last year, she forgot also, three days later, she bought me a present and I refused to collect the present and I asked her why does she keep forgetting my birthday, year after year for 5 years. She just said sorry, but I left the present in the room, she never bothered to bring the present to me. Another birthday was gone yesterday 2nd May, and as I write, no happy birthday yet.
I literally cook for myself, and all domestic things I do for myself.
I will end this by saying that in fairness to her, her character was not too different before the marriage and courtship, sincerely only once, that was like one year before the marriage I broke up with her, she came to apologize and promised that she will change. Her mother also came to apologize to me also.
This woman has refused to change or allow peace to hold sway, she is right every time, while everybody around is wrong. Sincerely, I do not know what to do anymore.
I am tired and exhausted. I do not know what to do anymore. I am 42, I was diagnosed of high blood pressure 2 years ago. Look for one Better girl wey go dey keep you company,na that one you go dey take diffuse tension. I can't shout |

Jasonjay101: Please I'm new here on this platform and I just want some advice to clear my mind.
Let me just go straight to the point. My girl that we've been dating for a year plus now just told me a week ago that she lived a couple's life with her ex back in school right from when she entered 300l (4yrs course) and the guy 400l (5yrs course) and I've not been able to get over it.
It happened a week ago, we were together and she saw a post of her ex engagement to his current girlfriend and she started feeling bad, so I asked her what happened and a little bit angry with her thinking maybe she was not over her ex yet. She told me she has gotten over him but she just remembered her past so I try to console her to let go and if there's something she hasn't told me yet about her past that is still eating her up she can tell me because before now we've talked about a lot of things about our past and we've try to forgive each other and let the past be in the past.
She had told me it was this only guy she had dated and it was the same guy that disvirgined her. I was not bothered about that because I was not a virgin either. She told me she has moved on even before I came and she stayed for close to a year to heal up and all through this time I was asking her out but she never said yes and never told me she was going through heart break.
Now, it's a year and few months into our relationship, she's been a very good girl, supportive and hard working. And now she just told me this, coupled with some lies she has used to cover it up in some of our previous conversations about her school life.
I'm not perfect either and I've had my past which I have told her. I never lived a couples life back in school and it was only a girl I've also had anything sexual relationship to do with.
Why am emotionally down now is because I know what it is like to live a couples life in school. I never lived as one but I know of people that lived as such in school and I know what happens.
Now I don't know if I can forget about this and we move on. I love this girl so much and she has shown to also love me as much and I've tried to forget about what happened but most times when I see her now I tend to always remember and it eats me up.
Do you guys think I can forget about this? Small pikin still dey worry you. If you are ready to marry a woman you have to blind yourself to all her past misdeeds,if not you go tay for Bus-stops |
Family › Re: My Husband Has Become A Domestic Slave In Our House & I Do Not Know How To Stop by Solatium(m): 12:04pm On Apr 29, 2020 |
Beautykate: I am writing to ask if you can help me to persuade my husband to do less around the house. I am worried that he is going to make himself ill from exhaustion. Also, and it is hard for me to say this to him without being hurtful, I married him for his fun personality not his work ethic and I fear I am losing him to domestic drudgery. I want an equal partner, not a slave.
We have a toddler and a baby, born few months ago. During the pregnancy, I was quite tired and run down and my darling, supportive husband started to do more and more around the house and with our son (and despite a full-time, responsible job, he has always done more than his fair share of housework). I am now breastfeeding the baby, which is tough because he barely stops feeding and won't really nap anywhere except in my arms.
So this leaves my husband doing the shopping, tidying, washing and cooking. He gets up at 6am every morning to get our toddler ready for nursery, with a packed lunch, and he drops him off before he can get himself off to work. Meanwhile, I just sit around feeding the baby!
I feel permanently guilty and as if the only way I will get my husband to do less is if I do more. The thing is that I can walk away from mess and he can't.
I hugely appreciate him helping, but, beyond the basics, would rather see him sleeping or even cuddling me on the sofa rather than trying to be on top of everything. I love my husband – he is truly the sweetest, most loving, most wonderful lover and father, but I find myself resenting the fact that I barely see his fun side these days because he is so tired that he is essentially ill – and I can't help thinking it is at least partly self-inflicted The period you spent in composing this is half of what it will take you to prepare a lunch, the other half is what it takes to read the comments. Get up and do your bit if you want him to do less. |

kayo80: I'm tired of my Glo... Sometimes it will be okay (not fast), and sometimes it will be annoyingly slow.
After midnight, I can download a 100 mb movie within 2 minutes, but it will take 1 hour to download the same movie in the day time.
I also have Airtel line, and it is a bit faster than my Glo, but they zap data like crazy. Sometimes, they don't even warn you before your data finishes... You can have 400mb one minute, and the next, you get message you don't have data again.
I don't know how Etisalat and MTN are. Guys, which Network do you think I should go for? I really need fast internet connection cos of what I do on Instagram... Using Instagram with my Glo can be so frustrating. Sometimes I feel like throwing the Sim away, but they give some really good bonuses when you recharge a lot. These things depends on Frequencies, your recharge style and usage will determine on the bandwidth your sim will be place. Same glo network we all loath is what the Chevron staff uses, their Connection is always on top speed at anytime of the day and at any location they found themselves. But Etisalat And MTN are better for those with "small budget" but don't complain about how fast your data runs out |

Sibrah: network strength varies by area. densely populated area get better attention because if is profitable to providers. just experiment and see which is best in your vicinity then go with that. Far from the truth. Densely populated areas such as Ajegunle,Mushin Sàngó Isolo And other areas alike USUALLY GET POOR QUALITY SERVICES,their purchasing power is not as high as those in Ikeja, Ọmọle,VI, Ikoyi And other elitist areas. Your ₦200 recharge in those areas can't equal the Cost of recharge in those areas. You don't expect someone that pays as minimum of ₦15k in a month on data alone to have same internet speed as someone that pays ₦1k |

whizqueen: My friend sent me this thread last night but I had too much to say so here we go.
I (A Nigerian girl living in Canada) will be responding to the OP's points and some other comments I found on the thread.
Are Nigerian Ladies in Canada lonely? Ofcourse we are! Are Nigerian girls in NIGERIA lonely? Hell yeah!!! Are Nigerian girls in other countries lonely? Absolutely!!!!! Being lonely is not a factor of location or person. It's about not finding the right friends/partner you vibe with.
Why did we immigrate? Bros are you kidding me? Canadian govt is paying me $2000 monthly and other benefits for losing income due to covid-19 Is that happening in Naija right now? All the money donated by philanthropist in Nigeria would soon disappear into the thin air without our govt giving explanation of any sort. Ofcourse, it's not bed of roses abroad neither were we expecting a man wrapped in a gift bag but please don't let your sentiments cloud your reasoning as to why people make immigration decisions abeg.
I personally feel attacked I recently posted a video on my YouTube Channel about finding love & online dating in Canada. It's asif this hope saw my video and wanted to attack me
What makes you think we would be interested in you to begin with? Don't pride yourself too much plis dear
If you like let the OP influence your decision and stop you from chasing your immigration dreams, last last it's up to you to decide what you want for your future.
Whilst I would agree with growing together with your partner and building with them. I think it's just shallow minded of anyone in this age and time to ask for women to chase marriage first before career. Marriage is not the ultimate not everyone sees marriage as an achievement. These days, if you crave for sex so much, you can pay someone to do it or get yourself a Love Machine, if you want a child, you can literally just buy a sperm and save yourself lots of stress. Most of us are yet to keep an open mind to these things, however if you want something badly there;s always a way to get it.
Most Nigerian men hate to see it happen, there are laws that protect women here and they would prefer dying single than to see women as their equals. A good number of them are control freaks and would rather their woman be at their beck and call for everything as opposed to having their marriage work as a partnership. Nigerian married man knowing the laws of the land will still go ahead and cheat on his wife with a girl living in the same condo with his wife. Una no even dey fear or respect una madam. If atall you really want to cheat, you cannot travel to Nigeria and secretly mess with girls that fancy IJGB crew or allen avenue. As expected, some women do exploit the situation but if you find yourself a god-fearing person and you do the right thing, no divorce laws or child custody issue would stop y'all from flourishing.
White men dont find us attractive? Laughs is Swahili On the contrary most men of other races have FETISH for Nigerian girls and Black girls in general. Maybe not long term in all cases tho but they reaaaaaaally fancy us and admire our enthusiasm towards life. Whilst most Nigerian girls would likely not wanna go for the likes of 'Ryan', 'Billy' and co it's not cos we don't find them attractive. Firstly, Naija guys are smart, intelligent and goal oriented. You see the average ones already have plans for their future and working towards it unlike the counterparts who are comfortable with just a high school degree. If a Naija guy is even into technical jobs he would try to be the best at it and work towards starting his own company in the near future. Secondly, coping with someone with a different culture, lifestyle, food, etc is honestly stressful. I was talking with one Persian guy and he said before we can kiss or hold hands, we have to be temporarily married. The other chinese guy is only about 5ft tall, I'm just wondering what he would look like in that department
In Nigeria, when you visit a guy at home, some would expect you to know that's express ticket to get laid with them. But here if you visit a guy at home, you can be almost certain that if you guys have sex it's cos you wanted it, no guy will try to lure or manipulate you to straff them or tell you when you came to my house what were you thinking. They know it's important to ask for your opinion or even avoid the whole situation altogether.
Something the OP failed to address is that the Loneliness spans across both men and women living in Diaspora. Even the white people find it hard getting a partner for themselves much less an immigrant that would probably take some time to fully settle in. The system is built to have everyone mind their business, that togetherness or family-spirit is missing.
All the naija guys and ladies in Toronto have finish dating themselves. It's such a small city, everyone knows eachother thru another person only a matter of time before you find out that; the guy toasting you is ex with your colleagues' friend. Or the guy you matched with on the dating app went on a date with your housemate the day before. Some would be married and they would be on the dating apps lying to other women.
Some of us don't even mind going back home to bring men here, but 'em guys just they find paper. Only few genuinely love and care for you. I kuku know people here already do that as business tho, some ladies/guys now charge up to $30,000 to marry people from home to help them get residency here.
There are tons of Nigerians in Canada groups on WhatsApp and Telegram some are just for singles and you find people of age 35, 40, etc filled with both women and MEN. Some guys eventually resort to going back home to marry the less exposed girls, but guess what happens once they reach YYZ airport? Oh well your guess is as good as mine. Their eyes go open finish.
A good number of Naija guys are single and desperately finding love as well as ladies. Truth is, we all crave for love. And that's not a bad thing to want. Finding a good match or significant other is a honestly a game of chance. Home and Abroad, White or Black race finding a partner is truly difficult and if you got lucky finding that one special person, you better love and cherish them truly.
I rest my case; I am in the comment section waiting for someone to jump on my mention and before you do so just remember: Opinions are like as5holes and everyone is entitled to one. So this is my opinion, I have free time today

Properties › Re: Our Tenant Hasn't Paid Rent Since 2018, What Can I Do? by Solatium(m): 2:12pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
Starboytwo: Good day all,
We have a tenant who has refused to pay rent since 2018, he only promised to pay and always defaults everytime...
What are the steps I need to take to get the rents or preferably reclaim the room he occupies?
There is a seemingly Big void as nobody takes any action since my Father passed (landlord) i.e, tenants civil enough do pay their rent to my eldest brother who lives far away but some like the tenants in question take advantage and do not like to pay...
Can I write a "Notice to Quit" and deliver it to him in person, or must I entrust a lawyer?
If I notify him about quitting the room, is he qualified for the 6 month the law prescribe...
I need tips on how to handle this situation... Hand over the property to an estate surveyor and values. I no mean quack estate agents oo. a registered valuer |

bigt2: This is a huge amount of money in front of you, don't miss it. Get a good lawyer and sue their ass. Let them show the cam recording of the day and you might be lucky if the camera got his lying ass. Let him show the proof that his phone was sent to you, yes, but yond reasonable doubts. Let mtn or the network provider provide logs for IMEI change, call logs of the said number (to know if phones were changed) on the day the transaction occurred for the jury's perusal.
Email me after getting the money tho Only in a saner clime will all these works. Is he/she suppose to render such help? |

Vyvyanvyvy: I foot 70% of the bills , I pay my daughter school fee including my first child with my husband I pay half of her school fee ,all my son need is a place to stay, my husband won’t be the one paying his school fee The tone of this reply shows you are arrogant,I don't need to be present at your discussion to know that your manner of presentation was bossy. That Man did the right thing by refusing to let that innocent boy stay away. You don't impose your wish on others, Pleading and persuade your husband if you want result. |
