you should be proud...these guys make hunting look good
but wait...they r just 99? really?
Very very few of them in a police force of 150 000. I dont know the exact numbers.....but i would guess 50/60 of them in Gauteng (Joburg and Pretoria), 30/40 in Durban, 30/40 of them in Cape Town. My guess. And i dont think im very far off.

what an irony.one of the best in the world and you can't lower your country's crime rate(one of the highest in the world, internationally known).

and pls if you check my post I never mentioned Nigeria. what i mentioned is Algeria and Tunisia.

so when it comes to ego nobody do it better than you south Africans(we are best in everything) .
It is a specialised unit of a few men that deal solely with harderened thugs (cash in transit, hostage situation, atm bombers, highjackers etc). Numbers are far too small to bring down average crime rates, that is for the regular police. And no its not an irony, if the crime rate is high....would you not expect them to have some of the best/most real life operations in the world? Think about it.

Im talking about the majority of posters on this thread (nigerians and south africans)....egos aside, this is fact. You could have said Pakistan and New Zealand, my reply would have been the same.

the south African maybe one of the best in subsaharan Africa but definitely not the best in Africa.
South African Special Task Force is one of the best trained police units world wide. Forget Africa. This is an internationally known fact, and goes beyond any small South African or Nigerian egos on this thread. Google it.

"KwaZulu-Natal - Eight suspected ATM bombers were killed on Saturday night in a shoot-out when Special Task Force officers intercepted them as they were travelling to Howick, apparently to blow up cash machines, the Hawks confirmed.

National Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi on Sunday said that after the shoot-out, an R5 rifle, as well as three AK47s and four 9mm pistols were confiscated."

From now on, all "Nigerian" equipment posted here must be accompanied by an invoice, proof of payment, bank slips, and DOD signature. So atleast we all know they actually belong to Nigeria, unlike those missing helis.

Off topic x 5....but with military applications

"The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is building South Africa’s first own developed gunshot detection system. A gunshot detection system aims to provide quick and accurate confirmation of shooting incidents to law enforcement agencies.
....

The system analyses and identifies the sound, determining range, caliber and direction – for example, a .38 fired 50 m away at a specific set of GPS coordinates."

Again, those were British and Italian hostages, and how has been the Nigerian response since then?
Again...their nationality is irrelevent. It is on Nigerian soil. 100% Nigerian operation. So the British would allow Nigeria to send a special forces unit to London, if a Nigerian was ever caught up in a hostage situation that side? Um...nope! Not never. Not ever.

You were grandstanding over a handfull of armed Americans on Kenyan streets, that time the Brits have sent an entire SF unit during live operations on Nigerian soil.

LMAO!!!! grin grin grin

And so what? A hostage is a hostage, whether British, Nigerian or Martian. Your security services would have run the same operation regardless of nationality. Its just a hostage.

"In Nigeria we don't allow foreigners to bear arms or operate as they like especially not with that American arrogance."

So basically..."in Nigeria we don't allow foreigners to bear arms and operate as they like UNTIL those same foreigners twist our arm, and make sure that they're included in operations" grin grin

Fidha254

Americans, Europeans, Russians and Chinese always come to this Continent claiming all and be all. When the stats show that countries, especially the U.S is more dangerous than many African countries including Nigeria and Kenya.

The state of Arizona recorded more kidnappings than the entire Niger-Delta region, at the height the insecurity in the region.

However, this is my grouse, allowing westerners carry guns or conduct operations willy-nilly, or whatever "Joint-Ops" fancy name Africaken254 wanna call it is simply not proper. Yes, we have hired Westerners/FBI to assist in investigations, however did that help they provide stop the bombings, NO!!. Every country suffers security challenges, but perception matters. The citizens have to see that their country's security agencies are in charge, and are all and be all when it comes to security in the country.

When the Nigerian government hired STTEP to assist the Nigerian military, it was completely hidden. Infact there is no evidence anywhere that supports the claim we hired STTEP. The Nigerian government hired a Nigerian PMC (Dolphins security), it was the company which went ahead and hired STTEP. This allows for Plausible Denialbility. The government has to show it's citizens that it is in charge, actions, posture and perception has to exhume this fact.

An example, there was this photo of French soldiers arresting a man in CAR. A Nigerian newspaper, Vanguardngr.com mistakenly used that caption in it's publication. The reaction from Nigerians and the government was swift. The editor who published that photo, fired and a full page, front-page apology by Vanguardngr.com

My point is Africans should take charge of their security, no place is safe, not even Norway. Brandishing foreigners with guns in our streets does nothing to improve security, it has never improved security.

A success story between Kenyan Security Officers and the FBI does not exist, it has never existed. Whatever gains have been made by the KDF has entirely been carried out by the KDF.
Ahem. Just curious. Why were the Brits "brandishing guns" all up in them Nigerian streets? Or you just let this slide?

They don't cos it's a SANDF policy. Nigerian soldiers dare not do what they're doing back when we had strict secrecy policy.

I remember when SiriusBlack first started posting pics online at the time the army had a strict secrecy policy till dhq got wind of it and warned it to stop. It stopped till it was relaxed again for reasons best known to DHQ.

The navy had never tried to conceal the sbs (one of the best units in the country) from the public. even beegs has had the privilege of visiting them took group photos for his blog. If hq didn't want it that way they wouldn't have permitted it.

In US only CIA assault groups are kept secret. The other spec ops are all over the place.

In Nigeria it's the same. You'll hardly see DSS storm troopers. These are the guys that helped the army chase out boko haram from maiduguri. They conducted countless raids on bh targets with sbs (only very few sbs operators where deployed at that time).

The NIA also has it's special units you'll rarely see online. As well as there are what we call crack units in all of these special units.

Australia has one of the best sf yet you'll get photos with the faces and profile of some of their bravest currently in service online. Something SANDF won't tolerate

https://www.pinterest.com/geoffreymansfie/australian-special-forces/

We operate in different environments and have different policies.

Respect that and stop making comments out of ignorance.

@henry, please pardon me for posting the link
My last comment on this topic. If it is still not sinking in, i wipe my hands clean. Nigeria is not the only other SF group that posts pics here. Your friend decided to jump in because of his complex. I clearly stated that operational cultures are different if we dont do it & others do. Nowhere did i mention actual skill of operators.

If you say it's not SANDF policy & they wont tolerate it, what does the lack of pics then say regarding the following of rules & regs within SA SF? Is that not a sign of a largely profession unit? You repeated my very 1st comment, we clearly have different policies...your friend decided to cry about it. I'm done. Back to posting pics

Just like you said Bro 5% of their special forces is larger than your entire army. How many SF can you get from your 40,000 troops then calculate 5% of them. You will discover that it just an insignificant figure.

In conclusion, is not that they are professional but because they are too few in numbers coupled with the fact most of them have never been to the battle ground. So tell us where the pics will come from? Will it be from training or where?
If you want to harp on about professionality only being skill/training, then i will also harp on. Even if the policeman in the pic below is the best shot in his unit, would you still regard him as being professional in his duty? I never mentioned skill/training.....those in the know are well aware of each country's abilities.

Professional in the sense that even with Insta, Facebook etc etc they dont post s.exy pics. Operational security is still 1st & foremost, and this modern age tendency of being rambo has not filtered in yet. Your job 1st, before Instagram likes.

Bro. No one gives a sh1t if SA forces even wears masquerade mask to hide their faces. It's definitely not a yardstick to measure professionalism. There are pics of devgru, navy seal, delta force etc... All over the internet.

You guys are just so ignorant.

First pic is navy seal
Second is devgru and third is navy seal being sooo "unprofessional" by south African standard. Last pic is French SAS in Mali.

Take a beer bro and chill. The world has evolved and saffers need to was well.

There are a lot more pics on instagram if you follow these guys
People that don't give a sh1t dont even bother commenting, you commented...so you deserve a reply.

1. Do a google search of how many U.S/Russian special forces there are....they number in the thousands per country. Even if 5% of U.S SF's post pics, thats enough for an entire thread of pics. African countries do not have that luxury, hence operational security is a priority. If your men (who are already small in number) can be found on Nairaland of all places, HQ is taking their safety for granted.

2. There are many ways in which a soldier can be professional. If he shoots straight but looks untidy, is he still professional? South African SF's professional in the sense that they know the rules, and vary rarely break them, no matter how cool a pic of you in your gear holding your rifle looks. Hence there are very few SA SF's pics which float around the net.

3. If i was talking professionality in terms of skill, training. I will leave common knowledge to settle that argument. We can have this argument again in 20 years, when its Nigerian SF's being poached for their know skill & training, as opposed to South African SF & South African Police Special Task Force.
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by ssaengine: 9:29pm On Oct 17, 2016
That's why the likes of Blackwater and others actively poach Nigerian SF's, and not South African SF's and Police Special Task Force. Aha

this internet warrior just called our deadly pipe hitters "Facebook boys" i can't believe it, how many dead terrorist do you see per day mister, if you don't mind me asking, how many men have driven up to you at full speed in a car loaded with bombs? or how many IEDs have you encountered in your days ? this is why i don't bother to get myself involved in arguments with you Saffers or where ever you are from. Henro don't bother to reply these clowns, its a complete waste of time, common sense can't be taught, imagine comparing their goons who in the past 20 years have only delt with street thugs in DRC,CAR and hunters in their own backyard to our guys hahaha... "individuals not soldiers".
You must be more worried about the fact that a terrorist group was capable at some point to have heavy vehicles, heavy artillery, bases, launch attacks etc within the boundaries of your border. List other countries where that has been possible, then you can clearly see how that terrorist group ranked your defence force in terms of competition. Whatever the excuse may have been (no equipment, no political will, corruption). Which well trained force would have let things get out of hand like that?

Although Nigeria has definitely pushed them back and virtually demolished them in the past year or so.

Charity should begin naturally at home, tell you commandos to stop posting photos on Instagram. According to you, there is a law banning them from doing that, yet your "Professionals" are breaking their own laws. We don't have a problem with showing faces in Nigeria, there is no law against it. Our military high command post images showing faces.
Yes run away. You came to me as usual, now you are out of ideas. Those U.S special forces men are not clearly visible, anyone here can see that. Kindly tell us who this guy on Instagram is, so we can see for ourselves.

If there is no law banning Nigerians to post pics what made you feel obliged to comment on my post?

MRLS has been seen for years, hence i didn't mention it. I'm genuinely interested in seeing Hornet Mortar pics from before this year, again, I'll wait. Not saying there wasn't even one pic available, but it was not seen and posted publicly willy nilly.

Look how you mention that one guy, doing something clearly worth mentioning (climbing 7 peaks). Kindly tell me what to search on insta

American Commandos, likely Navy Seals and Delta operators in Syria with their faces clearly visible.
There are thousands & thousands of U.S special forces. Navy Seals have always been hollywood boys. Show us pics/faces of " Seal Team 6" please...i'll wait. African militaries are much smaller & hence their special forces. For their specialist roles, they dont seem to take operational security seriously.

And NO those U.S special forces guys are not clearly visible. Infact they all look the same. Would you be able to identify them when mingling in the street? As opposed to Africans (and others) who post selfies on Insta? Please
