The FG has met their needs to a very large extent, 100% pay rise( excluding state uni which is very understandable as most states haven't even implemented minimum wage). TET fund has released billions. Earned allowances have been paid. UTAS is at final stages of testing...
ASUU doesn't care about us, they have a sole responsibility to students and not telling us to vote out APC which we will already do...
Just NEgedu ASUU matter You are truly one of the enemies of Nigeria. Here in Barbados, the school fees for the American University of Barbados Medical School tops $150,000 and there are several Nigerian students here. I have met several of them. Whose children are they if not the big shots? Paying the equivalent of N100 million for a 5 year program? The fees of 20 of them can fix several Nigerian universities. |

The reason for the speed bumps is to reduce the rate of speed these motorists apply on the roads. They see these less busy roads to show their formula 1 skills thereby hitting innocent pedestrians and some of them will even run away. When these cars hit someone close to you, then you'll see the need for the speed bumps. If the man lives in the street, I bet he didn't contribute to make these speed bumps. Bismarck Rewane has always being pessimistic about Nigerias economic outlook Nigerians do not like those who tell them the hard truth. What brings in foreign exchange to Nigeria? Ghana alone as more than 500,000 Nigerian students. Do people come to Nigeria for education, or medical tourism or holiday tourism, things that bring in money for countries with no oil or mineral resources? Do you manufacture anything consumed globally? Japan has no drop of oil, but their products are consumed globally. Israel's arms sales is more than $5bn in revenue, and yes, their famous rifles are used by our DSS and special forces. We just consume from other nations and need dollars to pay for this consumption. How will the Naira not fall at the expense of the other currencies? |

Antihypocrite: I have been married for 3 years now, I have known my wife for 5 years altogether. She was and is still the best thing that ever happened to me.
I don't know where to start from, I can't come to terms with the fact that my wife is leaving.
Guys, I think the problem started last year after some hoodlums stole my bike. That was my major source of livelihood apart from some home lessons that I used to do, but stopped due to health reasons.
It's been difficult financially and I honestly don't know what else to do.
Shortly after my bike was stolen, I got a loan from lapo and added with my little savings to enter palm oil business. I wish I had not done so as I ended up losing about 80k because the guy I worked with cheated me whole heartedly.
My wife had to get a job as a teacher in a private primary school. I told her it was just temporary as I was working to raise money for her start a poultry.
In order to clear the lapo loan, I had to do odd jobs and take loan from loan apps. My wife's little salary of 20k became the major source of feeding while I battled to clear the loan.
Sometimes I would borrow from friends to pay the loan app to be able to borrow a higher amount from the loan apps again. This was a mistake and a trap cos now I am so much indebted to these loan apps. I am even owing some friends and right now I am unable to pay back.
I have been in debt for over 8 months now to these loan apps. They have tarnished my Image to all my contacts.
I even stopped going to church because most of my church members who received messages from these loan apps did not even care to hear me out. They believed the loan apps that I am a fraudster on the run.
My wife started feeling ashamed of me. She stopped associating with me in public spaces. I know she has tried. Nobody deserves to pass through what she is passing through.
This afternoon when she came back from work, she told me that she would be going back to her parents house
She said that it is best she goes back to her people until I am able to sort my self out.
Guys I have tried to be strong for so long. Right now I don't think I can hold on anymore. I have always believed that things would turn out well, but right now I am in a low place. I don't know how long I can hold on again.
Last month I tried to even get a security job that pays 25k monthly. But I feel so discouraged to do the job. How long will I work to clear a loan of 320k that keeps adding interest daily.
Thoughts of suicide have been crossing my mind today. I really need help
What can I do? I don't even have the energy to pray. Has anyone ever been in my shoes? If yes how did you come out? Your wife's decision is the best. You need a clear head to sort yourself out. |

Oga, for every $99 spent on Starlink, a freelancer or financial trader can pull in at least 5-10 times that amount, which is spent on the local economy. I live in Barbados. Went there with the Welcome Stamp last year. That visa is for remote workers. You can't work on the island with it.
Apart from the place being quite expensive (I pay $1000 a month as rent), I can tell you that Barbados is an example of a country that works. Not the shithole we call home. There are Nigerians here, but mostly those who are either married to locals, or students of the various universities here.
Virgin and British Airways operate flights from Lagos to Bridgetown, via London Heathrow Airport. You need a UK transit visa. I processed the whole stuff myself with no single agent involved. I got approved, paid the $3000 for the family version of the visa (issued electronically) and got the UK transit visa with not a single stress. Here, there are no illegals. The transit via London checks that so Nigerians are loved here just as if you are Bajan. Do not forget, most of them are descendants of African slaves who were freed and resettled. Many have Igbo ancestry, including Rihanna who is revered and treated like a goddess here.
Estonia, Croatia, Malta, Seychelles, Dubai and Cape Verde all have versions of this visa and they are cheaper. But for me, the choice was an English speaking country with a large black population so we would not have racism issues. I have not experienced any racism or xenophobia here.
Be careful of all these "i sabi" folks making all kinds of comments here. I did not come here on holiday. I live here now and very much integrated so I can tell you what is on ground. |

Nazgul: Are they fighting for their selfish interests or that of the students?
Personally, I don’t get seduced by the facade of fighting the government every time in the name of strike and people will willingly pull their strides behind ASUU. It doesn’t always move me. I want to ask the question; is ASUU really fighting for the well-being of the students, or are they using the fact that Nigeria is a failed government to clone as a facade to pursue their selfish interests, because they know that people will always fall behind them?
If ASUU is fighting for the welfare of the students, why won’t they also consider the welfare of the students and return to school? Why are they so comfortable that our students are at home since February, 2022 up till now? That is a period of 5 months and they are not even ready to move.
They don’t even care. As for me, I don’t support the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) joining ASUU in the strike. If ASUU is fighting for the welfare of the students, and they want us to believe that they have no ulterior motive, why haven’t they come out with their templates and convince Nigerians of their demands? Have they explained to the students exactly what they are fighting for and how it will benefit the students when granted?
During my days as a student, up till now, ASUU have always gone on strike and part of their demands have always been met, but I have never seen any significant improvement in the services they render to the students. The lecturers still trade sex for marks, they still sell books, handouts and collect inducements before a student passes their courses. And most importantly, they have not improved their teaching modules to enhance the education they offer.
So, how exactly is their protest in the interest of the students?
I want to know, and would be glad if anyone can help me out.

This is the bragging rights of any professor in civilized countries.
Meanwhile this failure of a professor in Nigeria bragging right is how many students fail his class and drop out of the department and get kicked out of the university. This is the bragging right of this failure who is too brain dead to understand that if most of your students are failing and being kicked out of the university it is a testament of how bad of a lecturer you are.
I hereby henceforth submit that all Nigerian lecturers should be put on a salary of 200 thousand a month because that is what they deserve. It tells you That APC and PDP remains the major parties in Nigeria. Be realistic to yourself and pick PDP if you know you don’t want the Muslim Muslim ticket or a drug dealer as our president!!
Good morning and happy Sunday You don't have sense. Do you think the Northerners that voted Buhari did so because he was in APC? His own CPC party within APC had the least formidable structure of the three parties, with ACN and ANPP having more solid structures. They voted him because of his appeal. People do not vote parties in Nigeria. They vote personalities. When Okorocha beat Ohakim in Imo, was it because APGA had better structure than PDP? Besides, the LP candidate had been a House of Reps member under APC. People did not take kindly to that past association. |
