TRV UPDATE for the week ending May 19th

This week was relatively quiet one - though processing time remained at 9 weeks.

I would encourage those viewing the thread but have not submitted their timeline to please do, as it would help us make logical guesstimates on CIC processing time. Complete information is still needed from Dolapok, Seatea, Oni2019, Promise147, docsaj, Cutieflaky, Teejay30628, Klem28, Boe19, Ancy 26, Omarzx, Hiambenson, Wealthmiq, Teslimot01, Pelumi12, Harveygordon, Alexkrueger, Emeritus00, Chinonye94, Atamanekpen and Okoriekwe).

Finally, if you guys have any ideas on how we can present this information better or what else we can add to it or remove from it, I am always open any adjustment that'll make this better.
You're doing a very good job. it's just perfect smiley

Bracha:
Hi everyone, just a few points of correction, This is a thread not a trend. A thread is something that can be strung together, especially in computing. While a trend has to do with popularity.

Also, we're or we'll be studying towards a Master's degree (MSc.) or an Undergraduate degree (BSc.) or a Postgraduate Diploma degree (PGD) or a Postgraduate Certificate degree (PGC) - as the case may be - in whatever course. For example, I'm studying towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Zoology, NOT studying Postgraduate Certificate in Zoology.

The degree is your reward after studying that course you've been admitted for.

Please let's get these distinctions right as they'll come in handy when writing our SOP and or LOE.

Thank you.
What about studying for ?

Hello my people, good evening. How has been your day.

Please I need an advice from you.

I am 28 years of age and already have my BSC and masters. All efforts to get a good paying job have been fruitless. So I'm thinking of migrating to Canada or any other good foreign country (USA I heard is kinda dificult)
My question is this. Can I apply to universities in Canada for a Postgraduate course or possibly another masters.

Or should I apply through canadaian Express entry. I can get a good statement of account but what are my chances of getting a visa.

I would be grateful if I'm giving a candid advice, I shall forever be grateful.

Cc: makano Qudkom justmellow naijaforeigner
You already have a masters. To study in Canada now, a VO will be looking for a PhD from you.
Since your aim is to migrate, I suggest you go for express entry and your masters degree is an advantage there.

Good day, all.
Can you send your GRE scores to schools before you actually apply to them? If yes, how long will they keep the scores for?

Hi Nairaland fam,

Happy Easter!!!

TRV UPDATE 21/04/2019

Nothing much has changed since the last update... We have a sample of 47 hopefuls but i still want to encourage those that have not shared their timeline to please do. Let us contribute to this wonderful thread as we have benefited from it. This is the only way the thread can grow. For those that have submitted their timeline but haven't shared all the information we need, please help in sharing the full details (especially school resumption month and whether or not your application is new). In particular, we still need information on school resumption date and application type (new or re) from the following people; Dedecoder, Godatwork23, Oni2019, docsaj, Cutieflaky, Klem28, Udomas, Ancy 26, Omarzx, umulobi, and Iykedpetes.

Also, if anyone has received an update (i.e. medical requests, eligibility, etc), please share.

Also, if you guys have any ideas on how we can present this information better or what else we can add to it or remove from it, I am always open any adjustment that'll make this better.
great job!
happy Easter

Congratulations on your admission. It's possible to get your visa before the said date(mine was 6weeks 4days and someone was about a month here recently) just ensure you documents are clear and unambiguous. Are you sponsoring yourself? Either case ensure the bulk of the funds is in your account.
Do you mean your main account here or something like a created foreign account?

what is happening 22 weeks processing time while Ghana is just 8 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What has Naija done wrong? Wow!

Do you have a strong 2:2 or a Postgraduate Diploma in Nigeria like PGDE and wants to do Master in Canada? I can guide you free of charge.
May our dreams come true! your dreams are valid!!!!
It's population. Nigeria has more population which leads to more applications. Ghana population is just 28 million

No. I live in Australia. She has cousins(of same/similar age) in Canada and that's why she chose Canada. "Me", I am too old to be her friend grin
Where in Australia do you live? Australia is a very beautiful country

A number of people get admotted with a 2:2.....it is very hard however, as canada sees more students coming in, it does become more competitive. apply for a PGD as a bck up while you chase the masters.

God's Grace
Thank you

Good morning to this great house! This will be my first post in this year. My visa has been denied for the second time. I have ordered for my gcms note. I want to thank you all for your contribution, whether you know it or not, I gained a lot from this forum. Most importantly, I thank the Almighty God for everything, for He alone knows best, I will keep giving Him all the glory that He deserves! To all the trv hopefuls, just keep trusting God, you will surely testify IJN!
You will surely testify too. Just wait for your gcms note and tackle it from there

It is the institution you will look up if it offers PGWP eligible programs.

You can check the CIC link below. Input the province or territory and check if the university or college offers such.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/designated-learning-institutions-list.html

Fanshawe is a fantastic school, very massive and they have amazing facilities. If you have the money, great place to be.
Thanks a lot

Check out Conestoga college. I met a girl in school today who spent 1 year at Conestoga before moving over to Fanshawe. Her current fees at Fanshawe is about 2,500 dollars more than what she paid at Conestoga.

Also check New Brunswick community college you could end up saving about 3000 dollars.

Check colleges in Manitoba,( please make sure they offer PGWP eligible programs) you could end up saving up to 4,000 dollars if you dont mind staying in the cold.

All the best.
How do you know if a program is PGWP? I have been thinking of Fanshawe

Approval Alert!!!!

I applied for study permit online route and submitted on 16th October.

I submitted my biometrics on 22nd October
I received medical request on 5th December
Medical was done on 10th December and medical updated to passed on 17th December 2018.

Since then no update. I sent mail to both London and Lagos. London replied asking me to use the Webform so the office handling my file will see my enquiry. I used the webform to send a reminder. I received a mail from IRCC that my file is in Nairobi and I should mail them as well.

To cut the story short. I sent a gentle reminder to Nairobi twice buh no response. Which was on 26th & 27th December 2018. On 4th January 2019, I received Biometric validity correspondence and today 5th January PPR dropped and my application was also approved!
Sent you a pm, kindly check.
