EPEAKS: Stop this. We also came here last month and my husband is on his 2nd job. I as his dependent will be starting my job on Monday. Our children have since started school. If you want to come to UK come. But carry God along. He is the only one that is faithful. I suppose you're talking to the main OP fullcrib That you and your husband got jobs fairly quickly does not mean others did not wait 3months plus before getting jobs. Supply of jobs are a matter of location, tiime and chance. Besides having God on you side doesn't absolve of you of trials nor of making mistakes. Life has seasons . If someone has a bad experience let them share If someone has good experience let them share Transparency is important Many new immigrants are in dire straits because they hoped on paying all their school fees and living expenses from working . |

Okay so this new process is Interview waiver In previous years it was called Dropbox Regardless of the term the embassy doesn't say you will never be required to come for an interview. They are at liberty to require interviews at their discretion. So to your question YES, ppl still get called for interviews even though they qualify for interview waiver. |

teefex: Hi everyone, Please I need help!!! I was refused visa twice . Since I gave birth to my second child in 2017 haven’t gone for a visa application so I went in for interview on September I was refused. I had all my receipts then I got a date for today which I went for as well and I was refused again. I had my children in 2016 and 2017 respectively. I sent letter of intent and I also said it at the POE so I wasn’t hiding. I paid all my bills. It’s just that my kids really wanted to visit the USA. They haven’t gone since they were born. Please how can I go about this. Should I get an immigration lawyer and please does anyone know a very good one I don't think you should have applied again after your refusal this September. Leave it alone for at least a year. The visa is for you not your kids, visas are privileges you are not banned so relax. Try again in a years time besides your kids can vacation anywhere else. If you want to look back at the interview then after they asked about you seeking medical treatment then you could have said you might consider giving birth in the future but this trip is for a vacation. Now it doesn't matter, keep your receipts and try again next year. You didn't seek medical treatment on your first visit, you did on your second and third. You declared at POE both times. You paid your bills. Fortunately you'll get a CO that will give you room to respond. |

Gerrard59: The question is: what is the percentage of Nigerians who pay complete fees upfront? That is what we should consider. If out of 10 Nigerians heading to the UK via study visa, only 3 paid complete fees upfront due to the high costs involved, then it means many will find it difficult to complete their fees while being students. Let's see things from his perspective. If OP is not attending an elite university and he mentions sums like 35 million, it means LSE, Imperial fit nack 60 million and Oxbridge go reach 100 million. How many Nigerians attend those schools sef? I still maintain that many pay upfront. I already added that schools accept installments in fact they don't expect you to pay all your school fees at once You will come with one payment for school at least. The real struggle for majority is living expenses and raising cash for the next installment. OP arrived on student visa and didn't pay ANYTHING for school at all. He's only been here 1month plus na and he says school is on his neck. E no pay nothing for school be dat na Would a student even do that in Nigeria ? Enter school no pay notin yet |

adeolaspecial: Yea...my story was that someone ( a senior staff) defrauded my then IT company. They found out he was the one and then because he was close to the company owner, they covered it all and made us took the fall for it. We asked the Nigerian Police to investigate and we pleaded our innocence, but they wouldn't have it. They moved us to SARS where we were locked up for a lengthy period of time. It wasn't a pleasant experience. While in there, my dad was running around to see i was freed, they refused to charge the case to court, they didn't and my dad fell ill and passed away. I didn't see my dad when he passed and was buried. I slipped into depression and it impacted me greatly. Eventually we were released after 2yrs and i wasn't myself. Had to move to my village for awhile to get over the trauma and it took me time. I left the IT industry cos it reminded me of so much. That's my story. Starting a new life here in the Uk, i consider going back into IT, but where do i start ? How do i focus without triggering my past trauma.
That's why I'm kind of struggling. Yea, that's my story. But I'm trying to see how best i can find a way back in if I'll fight to. And thanks to all for the contribution. Have you considered therapy? It would help you work through this. Most organizations in the UK provide anonymous therapy, pls take advantage of it Your Dad believed in you that's why he fought for your release. Well at least you're sharing the reality. I repeat you can not PAY school fees on student visa with 20hours work. If that was possible then even UK citizens won't take loans to go to school. School fees are paid in installments and they will keep to those deadlines. Your visa and that of your dependent is TIED to your continued stay in school. Work is based on location too so you may want to consider looking for work online or your dependent moving to where there are more jobs. Winter is coming and bills will increase. If either of you get a job you can consider getting a loan or credit card to pay some bills.. Lastly you can always return..there is no shame in returning. Don't dig your self in a whole. When you make a mistake you can retrace your steps that itself is growth. fullclub: i recently placed a land with foundation for 9m but no buyer yet... even if i sell it and change it to pounds how much nko |

ChristineC: a lot of students seem to have this situation this September intake and this is what I really think...
even after deadline I don't think you should withdraw your application. what's the guarantee your next application will beat January enrolment? if your visa is granted after deadline, I don't think you need another visa application if your school defers your start to January with a new document indicating this. you should have a 90 day entry window. immediately you receive a success mail, write the school a sensible appeal on how you have been following the modules academically (your student portal should be open) and how your late start will not be a hindrance to catching up with studies. some schools will still ask you to come if you are convincing enough. remember that this mail should be addressed to your program leader specifically. he/she is likely the only one that can put in a word in favour. This might seem right but to the best of my knowledge your student visa is tied to your CAS, your CAS is tied to the admission time you applied, deferring admission after issuance of visa would require a new CAS and invariably a new visa. Unless your university says in writing that you specifically are allowed to enroll or show up in school by a later date |

mrskiffa: Hello everyone,
I hope you're all doing well. I'm reaching out to this community seeking guidance and insights on a challenging situation I've encountered in my immigration journey.
My journey began with the filing of an I-360 petition (widower petition) after the passing of my American citizen husband shortly after our marriage. After patiently navigating through the processing stages and the challenges posed by COVID-19 in 2021, my I-360 petition reached the embassy interview stage.
During the embassy interview, I was asked a few questions, followed by several weeks of administrative processing. To my surprise, the U.S. Embassy returned my I-360 petition to USCIS, suggesting a possible revocation. Now, USCIS has completed its review and sent the petition back to the National Visa Center (NVC) for further visa processing.
I find myself uncertain about what to expect in this context, especially with an I-360 petition. I would greatly appreciate any advice or insights from those who have experienced a similar situation. What are the typical next steps in the visa application process for I-360 petitions after USCIS returns the petition to NVC? Are there any specific documents or actions I should be prepared for, particularly in the case of an I-360 petition?
Your insights and experiences are immensely valuable to me as I navigate this challenging situation. Thank you in advance for your assistance and support.
Best regards, If it has been returned to NVC then you'll just have to wait. till you're told what docs to submit to the portal. It maybe the same docs you uploaded the before your interview. You would be interviewed again so maybe remember what you were asked and the answers you gave I think the only cases I've seen in nairaland is when the petitioner parent dies during immigrant visa processing. You might wanna check visajourney website. It has far more forums and you might get answers from those in similar circumstances |

Intrepid01: It is obvious that most of the stories on Nairaland are false. Like which company in Nigeria gives a car to a staff that earns meager #500k? Do you know that for a standard organization that is truly buoyant anyone earning #500k is below an Assistant Manager level? So who offers a car as part of benefit to someone below that level? It's not new, very possible I got a car..there are managerial cars and there are functional cars. Managerial was because of your position, functional was because of your job function required a car. This is very different from pool cars that had a driver. I could use the car at weekend and my personal time. Got a stipend for fuel however repairs were done by the office. However they will not use company money to replace anything broken or spoilt outside work hours |

PoliteActivist: It's not that kind of ticket - changing the date plus fees, etc amounts to paying almost full price again. They offered insurance whereby you can change the date but I didn't take it This I can understand Speak to the airline Typically the cost should be change fee plus any difference in price in tkt price from the original date to new date. Usually most tickets are valid for 1 year. Consider say a 6months delay for departure that should be spring next year..that should be low season. Find out the price for that time. |

PoliteActivist: Please understand I already have my ticket and these ideas. Otherwise it'd have been a much easier decision So what? Change your ticket dates...most airlines will do that. Speak with HR that you have a prescheduled vacation and ask when would you be able to take that leave. Let them give you that time frame and book your tkt for that time. |

What I really need is a crystal ball on Cana. My life here is honestly not bad at all. Don’t want to suddenly go from eating on table to eating on floor! I'm not sure what your dilemma is really. You have a job offer in Nigeria and you wanna hope on crystal ball for Canada All you have is Canadian visit visa..it means nothing. Doesn't give a job, No access to housing, No benefits Nada You can't convert VV to work permits ( and please ignore any info that you can use LMIA yada yada biko). Tech connections and so what? You're not going there with resident permit so how does that help. You know you can work remote with tech regardless of your location What hustle? Do you know where you're going. It's Canada..which yeye hustle? If you wanna visit Canada you can go whenever the heck you want. What is really biting you gan.. saying you'd have to stay in this job for longer than 2months. So..what's wrong with that? Doesn't the job give vacation time? Did they say you can never go on leave? They are even providing housing , etc It is coming across as if if you don't travel now life go quench. |

Viruses: You seem to be looking at appreciation against Forex. Isolate property valuation from naira devaluation.
For instance, if a house was 1 million naira last year and this year it is 2 million naira, that is 100% appreciation. How much dollar was last year and this year is another story. Except such appreciation was as a result of currency devaluation in which case the appreciation is just an Illusion. Good point. Then you have to consider 1 If you're earning naira and bought in naira or you earned forex to change and bought in naira then the exchange rate would mean any appreciation is false. Secondly I feel property appreciation in Nigeria is based on land and cost iof he house next to your. Ppl just put price on houses even when the quality is substandard. It's when you live in you know. For me many houses are poorly built, check the corners, poor quality finishing, plumbing is a wash, electricals are poor quality cos many don't use professionals to save costs, paint bleeds over from wall to wall.
