Because accountability under this Buhari's administration is at its lowest in the history of Nigeria, out of trying to gain control of the entire system to be controlled by a few they monopolized the sharing of authority that would have helped to checkmate each other, the national assembly is too controlled by the executive, same with the judiciary, since most of the governors are with ruling the party and few oppositions who already know the dirty secrets of the central government, it now became a game of steal your own I steal my own, we should not disturb each other the only reason we are even hearing this now is because we are in election period, tenures are rounding up, they need to fight dirty to either retain their seats or kick some people out.
You haven't addressed my question. If we assume that accountability is the lowest in the history of Nigeria because of Buhari, why haven't the excesses of these criminal governors been curtailed by regimes that were supposedly more accountable like OBJ and GEJ?

You are speaking through the prism of corruption, we need good leaders in every aspect of governance, that is why we need to vote in right leaders into office.

If Buhari was leading by example, this governors would have been exposed a long time ago
I would like to believe that if Buhari didn't lead by example, some other presidents in the past must have led by example. So, the question is why haven't the governors been exposed!

Oga we never grow reach China and we have more mineral resources than they do per person, yet they are richer than us. It is not our population that is the problem. It's just the wicked leadership.

Our population is our strength in future.

People who talk like you are usually brainwashed by the west.
The guy you quoted made a very good point. And as you compare Nigerians to the Chinese people, do well to compare the productivity of Nigerians to the productivity of Chinese. We have too many people that are very unproductive and they are popping kids with reckless abandon. Our population is not a strength until we can turn it into productive advantage.

Nigerians have always complained about bad leadership. In the early 80s, people complained about austerity under Shagari and Nigerian was still prosperous then compared to now. People were given free education in the 70s, and the citizens felt they could birth as many kids as they wanted since government was providing free education; no sense of responsibility. Nigerians have since exported our sense of irresponsibility to countries that allow citizenship by birth as they give birth to more kids per family than the country's original nationals.

One of the major problems in our country is that most Nigerians do not have any sense of responsibility. You will see very young people complaining of lack of jobs, yet when jobs are set up and they get the opportunity to work they are looking for ways to bleed the business to death. Ask an average entrepreneur in Nigeria about his biggest headache and most of the times the answer will point at 'thieving employees' because 'thieving' is what the average Nigerian equates to 'being smart'.

Until you inderstand the structural imbalance in the 1999 constitution there will be no change. Even if by some freak of nature the LP candidate was to find himself miraculously sworn in as President, he would be powerless to change anything. First he would have no power over NASS. LP doesn't even have candidates in all states, second he eould discover that any new LP NASS members would be unwilling to let go of their new bonanza. If he tries to discipline them, they simply cross the carpet to another party.

Instead of endSars it should have been endNASS. Until NASS is reformatted under constitutional amendment, nothing and I repeat nothing will change in Nigeria. We must return to the 1960 constitution. We cannot continue paying governors and NASS members to live large at our expense. This election is just window dressing.

It is shocking that this so called new generation youth are no different to the old generation they blame for everything. They too have cheaply been lured into thinking that its all about the Presidency.

It is the woman that allows what will happen to happen in issues like this and that's the bigger role play.
Without the details and background to the story, it might be difficult to understand the roles that each individual played. And I am not absolving the woman from blame but this should serve as a lesson to individuals.

I have seen where some men would quarrel with their wife or daughters for not going for prayers with a particular pastor. As a matter of rule, I cannot allow my wife to go and pray with a pastor in my absence.

Some other men allow their pastors unfettered access to their homes even in their absence, all in the name of prayers. My brother, be you Bishop or any pastor you are not allowed to come to my house in my absence.

The truth is that women are more likely to be manipulated by some satanic people masquerading as men of God. There are some fearful prophecies, which maybe false, that they can use to break a woman's defence for exploitation. Same may not work on men easily.

Husbands, please protect your wives and anyone of them that refuses to be protected should be ready to face the consequences of her actions or inactions.

The press men present should have asked Atiku on how he intends to devolve power without the national assembly. I guess you know one and we read of incidences of fire outbreak that nothing was done. Part of the challenges with the fire services is non access to water because Lagos State Government successfully destroyed our water pipe system.
I referred to one that was personal to me because of my closeness to the people directly involved. That said, I equally mentioned that I have read about the interventions of the Lagos State Fire Service in other instances some of which I mentioned in passing.

I do concede that State Governments need to do more but when it comes to firefighting, it would appear as if Lagos State shoulders above the rest of the states. I have heard about instances where Lagos State firefighters had to intervene in fire incidences in Ogun State.

Without taking sides, I can attest to the fact that Lagos state have a record of putting out fire in different areas of Lagos State. At least, I know of a family friend that benefitted from their services. Recently, they put out fire on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway; oko-baba, Ladipo and some other places. A search on google would provide you with other recent episodes that required the intervention of the Lagos State fire-fighters.

Naira is not over valued. All these value attached to production and consumption is layman economic.

Saudi Arabia is oil based with little production yet their money is stronger than USD. Why is it so?
Additionally, Saudi sold approximately 161.7 billion dollars worth of crude oil for approximately a population of 36 million people while Nigeria sold approximately 30.6 billion dollars worth of crude oil for an approximate population of 200 million people. Factor in the money they make from Hajj (religious pilgrimage) and then you would understand why their currency is stronger.

With a population that is approximately 1/6th of Nigeria's population coupled with their vibrant chemical industry, do you have an idea, how much money Saudi makes from Religious Tourism? For context, they are projected to make about 350 billion dollars from that industry by 2030.

Nah lie.

If naira is floated with preferential treatment. Dollar will fall.

Why should we have BDC in the first place when there is bank?

Why should there be two exchange rate? That is the highest corruption.

You buy cheap here and sell higher over there.
I do not support 2 exchange rates (i.e different official and black market rates). I prefer that it should be floated, but once that is done Nigerians will see that the Naira had always been over valued. From our consumption and production comparison, I believe that Naira is over valued.

Although, I believe that the Naira losing more of its value if it is floated might be a blessing in disguise as it may reduce the appetite of Nigerians for imported stuffs.

At a point in time, I had over 40 pregnant sows, about 200 pigs ready for sale and I employed about 4 people with a farm size of 4 acres. You need to see how these greedy mofos wrecked the biz by creating artificial mortality. I shut down the business and they were begging me not to do so that they would be managing even if i could not continue paying their salaries from my purse. I told them, hell no! I shut the place down and though I lost some good sum of money but it was their loss, ultimately because they lost their jobs.

When people complain of lack of jobs, ask them what happened to the jobs that people created for them. Were the businesses growing or they killed the businesses?

Well, it is written that wisdom is profitable to direct.

I belief that this "rofo-rofo" fight would not have been necessary if Pa Adebanjo had built consensus amongst the Afenifere chieftains before endorsing anyone in the name of Afenifere and in the absence of consensus, he could have endorsed Obi in his personal capacity and try to sell his preferred candidate to whoever he wanted.

When you are leading a group, especially a socio-cultural one, you need to be circumspect. I will like for Pa Adebanjo to say that he announced Obi as Afenifere's candidate having met in council with the rest of the Afenifere chieftains.

The truth is the FG should have intervened in some of these issues and not wait for the state government since the FG will still be in charge of the ports at the end of the day through customs and NPA, the citizens will still be the ones to benefit regardless of the state, my main point is for the government to make life easier for all Nigerians...
I am interested in your hypothesis of the FG intervening in the siting of the port. The FG, State and Private Investors must have a consensus before there can be progress. What can the FG do, if private Investors do not want to commit their funds in projects in some locations? Remember that the FG only provides port licensing as it's contribution in exchange for equity and not necessarily cash.

Can you compare what Pa Adebanjo said to his predecessor with what the moniker said of the former? They're not same. What's bad doesn't have 2 names.
For the avoidance of any doubt, I do not support that the moniker should insult Pa Adebanjo. Having said that, the following statement credited to Pa Adebanjo has a lot of gravity and it is capable of further polarising Afenifere.

“Tinubu bribed some people with little money to put up a show that there’s a division in Afenifere. I won’t engage him and those he gave money to because we have already made our position clear that Peter Obi is our candidate" - Pa Adebanjo.

If you examine this statement you can draw the following inferences;
(1) Pa Fasoranti alongside some Afenifere leaders were classified as "some people" therefore deligitimizing them as Afenifere
(2) That these people (renowned Afenifere leaders in their own right) could only support any candidate of their choice except they were bribed.

One would have expected that Baba Adebanjo to exercise better judgement than to further polarise the Afenifere socio-cultural group. The group has not fully recovered from the decision to choose Olu Falae ahead of Bola Ige as the Presidential Candidate of AD for the 1999 presidential election. People's right to side with candidates of their choices should never be queried. For instance, I know you as an Obi supporter, and I will defend your right to align with your candidate of choice if ever feel that your right is threatened.

I pray that this misadventure ends here without Afenifere suffering additional self-inflicted injury. "Aabo oro la n so fun omoluwabi to ba d'enu e a di odindi"

Your advise is apt, however you will do very well to channel this advise to Pa Adebanjo too. He crossed the boundary by insulting Pa Fasoranti, a living legend. People can have different political choices because "gbogbo was o le sun, ka k'ori so ibi kan na", accusing the likes of Pa Fasoranti of being monetarily induced is insulting the sensibilities of gbogbo Omo ka'aro ojiire. Somebody should play Pa Adebanjo a track from Yusuf Olatunji's track that says "e ma ba agba je b'oya a kan ni l'ola" which literarily means "don't subject the elderly to ridicule because it could be your turn tomorrow".

seunmsg:
Ayo Adebanjo is old, senile and foolish. His one man Afenifere scam has been bursted today.

Fasoranti is the only recognized leader of Afenifere and prominent Yoruba leaders such as Olu Falae, Archbishop Ladigbolu, Bisi Akande, Alani Ipoola Akinrinade, Olu Bajowa, Dr. Kunle Olajide, Cornelius Adebayo, Seinde Arogbofa, Gbenga Daniel, Dare Babarinsa, Pius Akinselure, Bayo Lawal etc were all present. They all spoke unanimously in support of the endorsement of Bola Tinubu as the consensus south west candidate.

Ayo Adebanjo should return the money he collected from Peter Obi. The fake endorsement don cast. All prominent Yoruba leaders are with Fasoranti and not him. Enough of the drama and pretense from Ayo Adebanjo.
While I will want to refrain from taking sides in reinforcement of my personal principle that individuals are free to support candidates of their choice, I cannot but point out the fact that Pa Adebanjo over-reached himself this very time by alleging that Pa Fasoranti and the other Afenifere leaders were bribed to have endorsed Tinubu.

The inability of some of these elders to act with sagacity was what led to the diminishing influence of this group and the formation of the Yoruba Council of Elders.

In hierarchy, Pa Fasoranti is a boss to Ayo Adebanjo and therefore the old man deserves some respect! I don't care about their political preferences but the "omoluwabi" ethos demand respect for older people, especially those who have paid their dues and those above you in hierarchy. Pa Adebanjo should be reminded not to insult his elders else same would be done to him when his time comes.
