smartest option is to add a coach or another state train on that track
.

Well, I am not privy to the laws that regulate rail tracks in Nigeria. However, I am aware that these things aren't as straight forward as they seem. For instance, what is the position of the current laws about States government being able to add coaches to Federal Railway tracks, is it permitted or not?

If State Governments and other entities weren't permitted to generate and distribute power using the PHCN infrastructures I would not assume that any state government can just put it's coach on the FG's tracks.

Saying that they would construct a rail line from Oyinbo to Agbado is another of their usual lies thinking that we would not see through their bullshit
Again, you may be right to be cynical but cynicism wouldn't take us anywhere. Do they tell lies yes they sometimes do. But at least there were things they promised and they delivered, so it is our responsibility to hold them to account with respect to any unfulfilled promises they have made.

I hate people who are not sincere how many towns are in Lagos to Agbado route? These same towns are already covered in the current Lagos to Kano rail that Amaechi modernized that runs through Abeokuta.
Yes, you have a point that most of the towns are covered in the Lagos-Kano Rail, but the guy you quoted (christistruth00) also raised a valid point which is about the frequency of operations. Like he pointed out, Lagos-Kano trains may not be able to ply the Lagos-Ogun route as many times as the dwellers would want. For instance, before the FG train moves from Lagos-Ibadan-Kano and come back for another haul, a Lagos-Ogun train would have covered that same short route several times and that would be some relief to commuters.

Okay, now I get you. I don't actually believe that part though except there were other crimes. Traffic offences do not carry any jail terms to the best of my knowledge.

Traffic offence is a crime but I feel the rule is quite harsh if he had to spend 3 years in prison. That's a whole lot.

LASG should come up with a more refined and humane approach.
Honestly, I don't understand why we think the seizure and auctioning of of the vehicles of one-way traffic offenders! People are demanding for leniency for them.

But wait a minute, the people that one-way traffic offenders have killed or wounded didn't have the chance to plead for leniency for their lives.

No matter how rich one can be. Paying a fine of even #10000 per driving offence will reset the person's head. Doling out money is never easy no matter how rich you are.
I agree with you that monetary fine should deter people from commiting offences such as driving against the traffic, ideally.

However, the statistics and what we encounter on the Nigerian roads suggest that fines do not discourage our country people from commiting such crimes.

For instance, I am aware that people are made to pay hefty fines and made to go for psychiatric evaluation for driving one-way in Lagos State, yet people still commit these crimes!

LASTMA personnel extort people for these same offences, so ordinarily one would think that the people would avoid having to pay such needless monies either to the Government as legitimate fines or to the rogue LASTMA officials. But our people aren't bothered.

Therefore, it may well be the time for a couple more of vehicles to be impounded and auctioned. Maybe, we will learn to behave properly on the roads.

Why not impose fines rather.
I guess the authorities now understand that imposition of fines haven't been working because our people will just say "shebi na money, e no go pass fine" and they will continue to flout the law, especially driving one-way. I see a lot of folks expressing anger at the Lagos State Government because of the auction of these vehicles. However, those who have lost their loved ones to the recklessness of the one-way traffic offenders would applaud this move.

Our people should learn not to endanger other people's lives by flouting traffic laws.

DON'T DRIVE AGAINST THE TRAFFIC.

If Ayu resigns today, Umar Iliya Damagum from Yobe State becomes PDP National Chair. That is the PDP Constitution unless there is a re-composition of the NWC.

If a Southerner is picked after Ayu's resignation, there surely will be litigations.
Is it impossible for Ayu and Iliya Damagum to resign to accommodate the Southern interest? Was Ayu not aware when he made the promise to step down, if a northerner emerged as the PDP presidential candidate? If promises can be so easily broken now, what happens if Atiku wins the Presidential election?

My advice to people who have candidates to sell to the South westerners is to do so by enumerating the strengths of their candidates. Any attempt to guilt-trip the South-westerners into supporting any candidate will be counter-productive.

It was asinine talks like this that led to GEJ developing frosty relationships with Yoruba political leaders (starting with OBJ) when some people began to belittle the Yorubas' contribution to his electoral fortunes. Even though the gentleman tried to make amends, it proved to be a little too late.

ProgrammingRe: Relationship Between The Height Of Parents And Their Children by teepain(op): 1:37pm On Sep 03, 2022
meobizy:
This is another front page worthy topic.

I noticed this as an adult. I always assumed children towered over parents by 1 - 3 inches. In my family, dad is 5’6/5’7 and mom is 5’9. The children range from 5’5 (me) - 5’11 (my immediate younger brother). 4 other siblings fall into 5’ 7 - 5’8. My height made me self conscious — being the shortest — until I closely observed a family picture. We were all near matched in height. Nature did not make a mistake by not adhering to the all-children-should-be-taller assumption.

My cousins face the same situation. Their mom is 5’5 while their dad is the 6’2 unicorn from a 5’8 family. The 4 children are 5’3, 5’8, 5’7 and 6’1. None as tall as dad.

Nature is a funny and cruel bitch. All it cares for is birthing the next generation.
Your observations are very apt. Nature maintains a balance somewhat, all the times. The system is self correcting.

This Hundeyin seems not to be particularly intelligent. A website creator provided his or her contact details for the web sites he/ she created and registered and you are complaining. For people who have nothing to hide, that should be the standard and this should be encouraged.

If Hundeyin, Rinu or any other person mentioned by the website is defamed then they can take legal actions against the site owner or publisher. We tend to throw away the baby with the bath water.

Rather than calling this site owner fake, like Hundeyin is doing, I am persuaded that he/ she is real as evidenced by leaving his/her genuine contact details on the sites.

At this point, I believe we should be discussing the contents of the site and not these what-nots!

ProgrammingRelationship Between The Height Of Parents And Their Children by teepain(op): 1:14pm On Aug 26, 2022
This topic is inspired by LUAN1 and many other posters who sought to know the relationship between the height of parents and their children on a thread titled "why do Nigerian ladies love tall guys".

The mechanisms that regulate the height of children from same parents is undergirded by nature or biology but it can be explained statistically and it allows for predictive analytics.

Have you ever wondered why children of tall parents majorly end up being shorter than their tall parents? Well, it is simple to understand the rationale. If successive generations were to grow taller than their parents, then humans would grow too tall for their comfort such that some people's heads would touch the sky. Because of that risk, nature regulates the height of children such that their heights would cluster around the average of their parents' heights i.e. (mum's height + dad's height) / 2.

If mom's height is 6"2 and dad's height is 5"4 then the average of the parents' heights would be 5"9 and the childrens' height would be around that height with some plus or minus differences.

This phenomenon is explained, statistically by the concept of regression from the mean and data scientists and statisticians would be familiar with that phenomenon.

It is interesting that the concept of regression has its foundations in explaining why children of very tall parents are usually shorter than their tallest parents.

I may disagree with Wike's position on some issues but your narrative of Wike betraying Secondus is not true.

For the records, Wike was the one who masterminded the emergence of Secondus as the PDP party chairman.

Thereafter, Secondus drew closer to other party chieftains such as Atiku to the detriment of Wike's political fortunes and that strained his relationship with Wike. Consequently, Wike masterminded his removal.

Let's keep sentiment aside, we have given APC and PDP a chance and have seen the outcome, anything wrong in giving another party/a fresh blood a chance for just 4yrs and see the outcome? Just have this at the back of your mind, with tribalism and religion, Nigeria will never move forward.
Thanks for the revert. I think it would do us a world of good if we refrain from making sweeping statements about entire tribes. "Yorubas are these..", "Igbos are these...", "Hausa/ Fulanis are these..." are the kind of statements that we should avoid. Naturally, people, irrespective of their tribes, would have different political opinions and the best we can do, as enlightened people, is to sell our candidates to them in the most civil manner without threats. God bless you.

Mind u, u guys voted for Buhari coz of your selfish interest that's manifesting today. You Yorubas never see anything. Fucking tribalist
Statements like yours that tend to tar all Yorubas with the same brush is not only hurtful to Obi's chances.

First all, let me make it clear that I am from the south west so that we are not under any illusion. Nevertheless, I have been a detribalized Nigerian all my life.

However, when you people make fallacious statements like, "You guys voted for Buhari cos of your selfish interest..", it is important to correct that notion. In 2011, Jonathan won majority of votes in the SW and in 2015, the ratio of votes for APC and PDP would be something like 53% to 47% (with some margin of error). Even in PDP,the some critics of Buhari are Yorubas. Yet, according to you "all Yorubas have not seen anything yet".

It is all good because the liberal Yorubas are seeing and reading these things and will respond appropriately when the time comes.
