Parallel you said? Matt.23:23 (NKJV) - Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin and have neglected the weightier matters of the law; justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done without leaving the others undone Matt 23:23 (TLB) "Yes, woe upon you, Pharisees, and you other religious leaders-hypocrites! For you tithe down to the last mint leaf in your garden, but ignore the important things-justice and mercy and faith. Yes, you should tithe, but you shouldn't leave the more important things undone Matthew 23:23 (HEPV) - And Jesus said to them : practise mercy, practise Justice, practise faithfulness and also i say to you do not neglect to practise Tithing. What is parallel in Jesus commanding the folks to do others without leaving the other undone at least i did not write those versions. |
Does it matter if i pay in monetary income or agricultural income? what should matter is that bible says tithe should be payed from one's increase and i get mine in monetary terms therefore i give mine in monetary terms. A farmer gets his/her increase in agricultural terms and thus pays such in agricultural. *what matters is Tithe was commanded and we ought to follow the commandements of Jesus Christ* |
KunleOshob:Matthew 23:23 (Hebrew- English paraphrased version) - And Jesus said to them : practise mercy, practise Justice, practise faithfulness and also i say to you do not neglect to practise Tithing |

Fhemmmy:God can tell you to do that. Scriptures had instances of it. |
DeepSight, During the week a friend offered me the book "Leading a Buddhist Life:The Precept - Shakyamuni in the Dhammapada". Here is what it said about Buddhism, Buddhism is the most profound and wholesome education directed by the Buddha towards all people. Five precepts are the curriculum of Buddhist teaching, which are embraced in the moral code of Buddhism. By observing precepts, not only do you cultivate your moral strength, but you also perform the highest service to your fellow beings. The Five Precepts areand I'll love to share the five precepts upon which the worlds #5th largest religion stands upon Five Precepts 1. Do not kill (Panatipata) 2. Do not steal (Adinnadana) 3. Do not indulge in sexual misconduct (kamesumicchacara) 4. Do not make false speech (Musavada) 5. Do not take intoxicants *I am still reading the 800-paged book* Something struck me when i read those lines above and i thought to myself, are not these outlines the same as was given to the nation of Israel by God (The Ten commandments)? The answer is Yes!. Regardless of the name it bears in other religions, to me it still carries the same essence (The message) as was its origin. Your biase is against Christianity (Pls correct me if i am wrong) thus you choose to extend the sentiment to the Christian's God. But you fail to realise that this same "Christian's God" has never been confined to any religion be it Christianity likewise His words (which make up His very nature).Trust me i know what others may be thinking. To the nation and people of Israel before Jesus, He was revered within Judaism. While in the flesh (ie. Jesus) He never brought any Religion, His disciple did Mark 9:38 - "Teacher," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us. NIV Here was Jesus reply 39 "Do not stop him," Jesus said. "No one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, 40 for whoever is not against us is for us.NIV Christ did not come to create a religion, He came to redeem mankind. Christ connotes more of a concept than a person. He existed in the word-form before He existed in the flesh-form. Now in the word-form He was Love, Forgiveness, Mercy, Protection and so on. Therefore whoever practises these things practises Christ! That was why Paul was bold to assert this Acts 17:23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship (Idol worshippers), I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you. NIV With this, i feel any body, Religion or community that professes the very essentials that make up the totality of God does worship God thru' Christ (the concept that in-dwelt Jesus) |
Realvoice:Oh i see, so you're asking me to state the predictions Mr.Adeboye made, but i thought mr.thread-opener made a reference to the predictions in the initial? Pls read your OP again, Realvoice:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Realvoice:Bro, but i thought your thread was about making silly predictions, how come you're now saying the thread is about making mockeries about the simple man -Adeboye, i see now, u must really be a SARCASTIC person. And i mean it.! Mr.RealVoice pls go and create some good thread, something that can edify others. |
Making mockeries aint a good habit, it connotes jealousy, biases, and folly. No matter the mockeries we'all make against some people it wont ever make them change or stop them from attaining great heights in life. John the baptist came and would not eat, the people called him a demon-man. Ok! Jesus came eating and drinking, the people called him a glutton-man and wine-consumer! Adeboye keeps silent ya'll will go spreading sarcasm against him, now he's made a prophecy and we all go on making mockeries. wont it be wise to seat and consider "what if this man is saying the mind of God" Prov 14:16 A wise man suspects danger and cautiously avoids evil, but the fool bears himself insolently and is confident AMP I read someone asking why Adeboye never predicted the recent Jos crisis, and i wonder if we read scriptures and rationalize passages at all. Was it not in Jesus' time, John the baptist was beheaded? why didnt Jesus or any OT prophets predict the beheading talk less of the death of John. Now would it be wise to presume that simply because Jesus or any other never predicted John's death meant Jesus was fake?We must realise that this men are made of flesh and bones like us, but were just privilaeged to lead us, they have their strengths and weaknesses too. Let be mindful who we talk against, lest we might just end up like Miriam! God bless you! |
@joagbaje Its unscriptural, Jesus didn't collect offering paul didnt collect offering/tithe/firstfruit etc, peter, james key man of christianity never collected offering. in fact it was the opposite jesus fed 5000 on one occasion 4000 on another occasion he never collected a dime the church was busy feeding the needy and the ones that were lacking not buying private jets, luxury yacht, or making 'jerry curl' and doing 'super sunday' so based on scriptures you fall headlong ![]() I find it hard to digest why people are christians its either of these 2 things deliberate ignorance or extreme delusion
@rich_john,The products of a man's heart can spew trash when allowed to drift from the truth, simple dignity is gained by keeping silent when one doesnt know what they are saying. Simple remedy for you is to google this "did paul collect offering in the bible?" maybe those trash up here will change for good ![]() |
Its really so amazing to see how some folks will jum-ascend to issues relating to money and finance. Yet what they fail to realise is that bible isnt concerned about who's rich financially or who's poor in finance, but the well-being of the spiritual man. What remains a fact is that whichever way we look at God, He is! same for his words in Christ Jesus. To a rich man aspiring material wealth: He sees Jesus as the man dressed in purple robe and eats with Tax-collectors what we call/see as "corrupt political and oil magnates" today To a poor man seeking comfort in his low state: He sees Jesus as the man who never had a house to rest his head, the man who could not afford a coin to pay for taxes and so on. Now what is so dynamic about scriptures is that they have quotes to butress their claims, but the onus should be to serve God in humility, purity and spirit whether you're rich or not for God only checks the heart to see those who are for his or for the devil. |
So because you saw it on some dailies makes it worth discussing? pathetic! ![]() Ogajim, Trust me there are so much to enjoy in the christian faith that makes worthless the act of scrutiny, I rememeber in my hood in the mid-80's, Pastors and anyone who professes the christian faith were tag paupers because of the way they appear. so tattered you just wonder what disgusting a faith could be that they profess, such that they were avoided, they were rejected as if they stank. Now the crux was that there were still fake christians as well as genuine ones among the crowd. In the Mid-90's the christian faith was largely embrassed by educated people whose enlightement required that they looked good and decent, this new midset brought some good things as well as wrong too. The faith is emassed with all kinds of people, the rich preachers who serve God genuinely as well as the rich preachers who pretend and fake the faith. Now would it be wise to presume that becos some rich preachers fake the faith mean that all rich preachers are fake too. does it make sense? On a serious note, i feel its not worth it lurking thru' dailies and every available media seeking which preacher is fake and who's not, what matters is "keep the commandements of God in Christ" "be transformed by the constant renewing of my mind" "view my being thru God's mirror and pray to correct my flaws" rather that focusing if Adeboye is a thief for buying a Jet, or Pastor Chris is gay for jerlling his hairs, or if Oyedepo is cultist for using anointing oil. ![]() |
Dont really think its dat necessary rather the world needs you and me to stand up and live like the children of the light. |
Mr Joe pls take it easy sha! your posts are becoming too questionable ! ![]() |
ogajim:Mr Ogajim, now i see , what has preaching happiness, joy and mercy have to do with FAKERY. So you've become so confused and self-deluded now that anyone who preaches such is now termed FAKE. hmmm atleast i now see one who refuses to get rid of the LOG in his eyes while spotting specks in a brothers eye. ogajim:This is more disgusting!, did you check the percentage with your meter?, the problem is with you my friend, how? its said that "when you've got a bias on someone who hardly see a right in their act". You need to get rid of that red glasses lest your world will always been seen as red. ![]() ogajim:God! Ogajim you're really disappointing. trust me! What else do you want from this men. If they preach hell hell. its the same you that'll go out crying anr criticising them. Matt 11:18-19 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking [with others], and they say, He has a demon! 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking [with others], and they say, Behold, a glutton and a wine drinker, a friend of tax collectors and [especially wicked] sinners! Yet wisdom is justified and vindicated by what she does (her deeds) and by her children. AMP Ogajim, the scriptures said wisdom is known and justified by her children. If you keep complaining you'll hardly get what God has in store for you. Refrain from judging people and learn to seek the path of truth and wisdom. Its an advise! ogajim:So is that a bias? Have you ever thought if those money(s) are raised for the needy, widow and orphans? na wa 4 u o! ![]() ogajim:So since when did you become Judge to scrutinize people's conduct when you've got a load of urs to sort out. PHARISEES - they always see the wrong people do without taking care of theirs first. ![]() Ogajim there is a whole lot to enjoy in the christian faith than spending one's whole day lurking for whom to devour.! ![]() |
debetmx:^^^ Oga! Is there anything wrong in making predictions? whats wrong in saying some people will be rich this year? Afterall some apostles even made such when they said " in the last days perilious times shall come" even when perilious times occur everyday, every month and every year. I think its right you understand the preds better. ![]() |
who's he/she? ahha i remember! the lady that creates her style with a PURPLISH color. i see! i wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY too! |
I weep for Love Gunne! Reel-gunne!! Was the screams I heard deep within The voice was noisy- foisty I will call it The echoes I feel for the mother I once relish Was She made from the finest woods called cherish Offered was her bossom to lost sojourners Over and again all strangers sucked With stretched arms each one gained life Suddenly for a second i saw them strong again And love was the child she begat for them Gunne! Reel-gunne!! Agape was the name she called him The community of lifers cheered him Soon her son grew in strength Then come the time to reward her Evil they packaged in containers, in many containers Like shippers towing cargoes through the great sea With sneers they made haste to offer Agape their lot Gunne! Reel-gunne!! So this is how madame’ will be rewarded? So this is how she will be paid back? So this is the reward for sacrifice? I wish Madame never came at first Agape would have never come then Reel-gunne! (01/03/10) |
My Times Are In Thy Hands Such Hands As Thine Can Never Fall Not Faulter My Times, My Goings, And My Comings Thou Dost Know, So String-Such Hands So Wise In All Their Moving, Directing Worlds And All The Teeming Nations Here Below! Thy Hands, My God, Are Holding Me! My Times So Small They Seem As I Compare Thy Hands Which Wrote The Law And Shook The Mountains Those Hands Deal Tenderly With Me In Care! My Times, Thy Hands! "The carnal man knoweth not the things of the spirit. why? Because they are spiritually discerned". Want to know why God interferes in human affairs?Because Man is a product of God, Man is a projection of/from God , Man houses the spirit of God therefore God aint complete without Man likewise Man aint complete without God. I wish u'll understand |
@Poster, There was no such thing as forbidden fruit, rather "tree of the knowledge of good and evil" Gen 2.: 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." NIV By eating the fruit they had knowledge to discern what was good and bad, inotherwords Man began to think like God, in hebrew it is called "da±at" meaning moral cognition. |
