kennedychinedu: For the state nomination for south australia 489, yes its points test. but i want to assess my academic qualification in microbiology with that of a food technologist. As food technology is what is available in south australia for 489. I have a one year post qualification work experience in a food industry but my academic qualification is in microbiology. So i was asking if i would still get positive assessment. That is, is a degree in microbiology plus a work experience in a food company highly relevant to assess as a food technologist. Now I get you. I want to believe Microbiology is relevant to Food technology but to clear this, which university did you finish from? Also note that having experience in a food company doesn't make you a food technologist. Did you do the specific roles specified by Anzsco? |

Damatik: Thanks for the info. My Bsc is industrial chemistry my MSC is Environmental Eng. However VETASSES States on the information sheet for my occupation that "If the degree is not in a highly relevant field, and there is an additional qualification at least at AQF Diploma level in a highly relevant field, three years of employment at an appropriate skill level undertaken within the last five years in the nominated occupation are required"
Accordingly to the above, I have three years experience but I will like to know if NEBOSH IGC an internationally recognised occupational health and safety course is at the AQF diploma level as stated above and is enough to give me a positive outcome. Pls anyone with experience can come in on this. Thanks. I asked what year you got your MSc. Do you have up to 1 year experience after your MSc? I'm not sure the AQF of Nebosh. |

kennedychinedu: What was your BS.c major. was it also in environmental engineering, i think the occupation you are applying for has to tally with your BS.c major for Australia sha as they do not assess MSc, VETASS clearly stated it above; the field must be highly relevant with a relevant occupation. It is risky but you can try. Just ensure you ask properly if anyone has done and gotten positive assessment before makin any investment. Also my brother you have Masters why not try Canada while you are hoping on this australia one. Please note that this info is not entirely true. Your BSc doesn't necessarily have to tally with the occupation you are nominating especially if Vetassess is your assessing body. It all depends on the other qualifications and the years of experience you have. Vetassess also assesses Masters degree. @damatik, what's your first degree and what year did you get the MSc? |

kennedychinedu: Dear Bellong and other house members. I want to assess for 489 south Australia, i want to assess with VETASS but not as work experience but just to assess for a skill in Food technology but i did a BSc in Microbiology. I saw that VETASS stated that for a Skill A assessment the person must have a highly relevant field for the skill claimed. I wanted to ask please does anyone think microbiology can get positive assessment for food technologist. As in are theY related and what would VETASS require of me. NB: Please this is not for work experience points i just need to pick a skill as microbiology is not in 489 South Australia but the closest is food technologist. Thanks in advance. Are you applying for skill assessment or point test? If it's skill assessment, you need at least 1 year experience to get a positive assessment with Vetassess. |

tunai: Hi All, please has anyone in the house gotten a positive assessment from VETASSES for customer service manager, my sister has just received a negative and hoping for a reassessment, please can anyone guide on how to address this, see below the reason for negative outcome below:
"The employment described above does not meet the minimum requirements for this occupation as According to ANZSCO, a Customer Service Manager plans, administers and reviews customer services and after-sales services, and maintains sound customer relations. Customer Service Managers would generally be in charge of all the customer service functions in an organisation and develop the overall policies and programmes concerning customer relations. Providing customer service can be part of many roles in a variety of industries offering goods and services, but a Customer Service Manager is expected to manage a dedicated customer service function and not be involved in the core business of the company. Based on the documents provide, your role is primarily focused on the day-to-day front-line contact centre operations. Your role is not a dedicated customer service role and is below the required managerial level. A negative outcome has been reached on this basis." Sorry about the negative assessment. From the reason stated above, the organisational chart and job description are the major culprits here. Is your sister a manager/supervisor or just a contact center agent? |

bellong: You don't have to but you have to ensure that VETASSES get your transcript on time because it may delay the assessment.
You can pay and then arrange your transcript. If you send transcript before payment, they will not be able to match it to any application. @goodies1 You can send your transcript before payment. I did that last year August. After registering on Vetassess, ensure your school writes your application number on the envelope containing your transcript and a copy of your certificate. As soon as you are notified by d courier company that the documents have been delivered, email vetassess with your details and application number to confirm receipt of d document. I got a mail response in 4 working days that it has been received and I hadn't even paid the AUD880 then. |

BigdaddyPR: Considering the recent invitation rounds of 80 points minimum, do you think i have a chance of invitation in the coming months with 65 points for an occupation that is not competitive and non pro rata? Want to know my options before i waste money on assessment and end up not getting invitation.
@bellong @Alphadoor As @alphadoor pointed out, 65 may not get you ITA. Your best bet is to be fast with your assessment and apply to states for nomination. Don't waste time waiting for 189 if 190/489 is available. |

ChampXC: Thanks a lot Bellong. I feel very pleased and recognized by your delightful response. Please keep it up as you put hope on many colleagues in this forum and readers.
I did EOI on regional 489 at NSW and waited for 11 months without invitation. I later withdrew it and re-submitted the EOI in January, 2019 at same NSW on family sponsor immediately my cousin was given a PR. 1. Can I do additional EOI on regional 489 without withdrawing the EOI on family sponsor? 2. Can I request the selected region via communication before or after the submission of EOI to expedite my nomination? Please assist with your kind response and counsel once more as I don't want to give up at this time. I welcome any region in any State that you could suggest to me.
Regards Waiting for family sponsored 489 is a long thing. The least point in the last draw was 80 and only less than 10 applicants got ITA. Each state has its nomination process. SA still has the shortest timeline (currently 6 weeks) and nomination cannot be expedited. |

hallelluyah: Considering either of the two: Age - 42 Education - M.Sc Finance & Banking(professional) English - Proficient Marital status - Married Spouse Education - Vocational Certificate (cook) No blood relative in Australia for any of us No education in Australia Work Experience - 5yrs( Customer Service Manager in a Commercial Bank) Or Work Experience - 3 years (Internal Auditor Age: 15 Education: 15 English: 10 Experience: 5 Thats 45....very low, even with 489 state nomination, its still low. Ways to improve your score: Write the English test to make 20 points (Superior) Get your spouse to do the assessment to get extra 5 points. If your MBA award year is prior to the 5 years customer service experience, that's fine. If it's after, it will be best to use your BSc as Vetassess only considers experience after the award year of the degree you are submitting. Also note that at least 1 year experience wil be cut from your years. CSM is the best option as Internal auditor is currently not nominated except for 189. |

Please which occupation can she nominate and be assessed for. She can assess as a Customer Service manager. Check anzscosearch.com to read about Customer service manager 149212. She should know that her years of experience may be deducted from 6 to about 2 (worst case) to compensate for the educational background. So she must make her job descriptions for the 6 years experience water-tight. ATM R |
