@Akolawole!
I want totaly disagree with you that international students who wants to open an account with either HSBC OR Barclays are not entitled to credit cards or loans ,yeah debit card that they will give you,Ikno some people do back door runs and na ds Oyinbo be the guru for wayo,what you said is correct but na back door runs be that,cause I know some one who just came in to the uk as an international student and was told he cannot even open a student account exceprt he has been legally resiednt in the uk for d past 3years and he was advised to open another type of account which is also good for international students.
Back to the topic,Nigerian students like to dey form,a friend called me recently and was tellin me about one of our colleagues wey dey jand and that the guy bought a jaguar and they were like hes a big boy ooo and the question I asked my self is in the same countrry and at hi sage is that what should be tripping him,no major investment even writers of Rich dad ,poor dad will tell you that car is a laibility and not an asset.Its obvious that most Nigerian students enter this country and they are faced with abundance/moeny shock and they just loosd it and begin to delve in things they never could have done way back home. grin

Vicjustice:
All these documents above are needed, and also, they expect a satisfying evidence of how your sponsor will benefit from your education.
So Dear, the more documents you have the better chance you stand; it's better to have more than enough than to have less, remember that the ECOs look for an excuse to refuse a visa rather than a reason to issue it.
Everything stated above is all true,you will also need to provide in your documentation that you have ties to Nigeria that after your studies you will be coming back to 9ja even though they the ECO knows you are allowed to work for 1year after your studies ,but you just need to give them some lies that will be convincing enough that you you have ties,ties could be in form of investments which you hav eback here in Nigeria which could be shares,landed property etc.
If you dont have any,you can still go to the Nigeria stock exchange and get you r self soem shares oooo my brother,it is better to show to them that you love your country and you are coming back after your studies but once you are issued the visa you can decide to forget about all what you told them you were going to do either in the form.All the best mate. wink wink wink wink

Were you asked any questions relating to the initial working holiday visa refusal/the pending appeal during the interview?

@pataki
I've just sent you the mail. Please check your yahoo dot com email. Thanks
Questions on the working holiday visa was so much,I had to remind the ECO,that it is student I am applying fro now,at the end of the day she asked me which on ewill I prefer,student or working Holiday and i said student.I am a graduate oooo and she was still askin why ACCA when all my documents was clearly stating that I read Accounting up till university level.Funny people.The appeal they were silent about it,am thinking of withdrawing it but some say I shouldnt withdraw it,so what do you guys feel about?

@Phatakee.funkybaby wink,Akolawole,BP etc!

You guys are doing a great job here and I must confess that my knowledge about visa issues has been fine tuned grin grin grin!
I actually put in for my ACCA student visa four days(17th of April) to school resumption(21st of April),I was called 9days after resumption(30th of April) at the school by the Embassy to come for an interview and to God be the glory,I was given a 3years student visa.Dont forget I still have an appeal going on for my working holiday maker visa which I applied for sometimes late last year.

But I care less what happens with the appeal grin grin grin now,

I am presently in the UK on a three years study visa!

Thumbs up for you guys,so tell me there's no impossibility in my dictionary! grin grin

@Timx!
He can use his companys account,but he must make sure that all the documents to show the registration are attached to the application and he must have all the partners signing that they are in total support and that the funds will be made avaialble to you for your studies.I also think you have to justify why the company wants to sponsor you asin what you stand to gain and what the company stands to gain from the sponsorhsip.But if you can avoid using company statements,becuase legally,a business is an entity on its won.
All the best. wink wink

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries by ty4real(m): 8:34am On Apr 23, 2008
@Londoncool!

Sorry to poke my nose here. Whenever you want to submit details of finances to back up a visa application make sure it is a current account. Fixed Accounts ,Savings account, Bonds,CSCS a/c's etc do not add any advantage because the money is not readily available to you (this is what ECO's consider-immediate accessibility to the funds). When submitting bank statements for current accounts we look to see that the income/deposits are commensurate with the annual salary or annual income of the account holder. They will also check to see that the COT/VAT/Witholding Tax deductions on the bank account are caluclated correctly. (Most Nigerians who forge bank statements normally get caught out just because they failed to consider this aspect and when they do they usually get their calculations wrong). Any sudden bulk deposits/large payments over short period will be questioned.

When submitting bank statements for the purpose of sponsoring student visa's, the closing balance in the account should be enough to cover the school fees and the cost of living in UK (i.e transportation, shopping, aaccommodationand feeding) as they are factored into the big picture. Where a mortgage deed is included then the cost of aaccommodationis reduced from the overall financial picture.

Submitting Nigerian bank statements does not give anyone an advantage over the personwho submits a UK bank statement.The truth is most UK sponsors have overdrafts on their current account so by the time they submit the statement before the entry for salary has been added the statement usually shows a debit balance-which is not a good thing.It all depends on how easy it is to raise the funds.Is it easier for a UK ssponsorto raise a loan of £10,000 and spread it over a period of 4-6 months into his current account? or is it easier for a Nigerian based sponsor to raise N2,000,000 and spread it into his current account over a 6 month period to show that they have the requisite finances in place?

The ECO does not phone bank managers enquiring the about authenticity of bank statements, it is the job of a separate unit of Forgery specialists (mostly with local knowledge) who work in the Risk Assessment Unit. They make the findings and report back to the ECO's.

Are you a ECO or Visa Officer? grin grin
