shadeyinka: Its simple!
What is the difference between Roman catholic church and the Protestant churches?
What are those things done in the Catholic church of the present that were not in the Church of the Apostles time?
1. If you can prove that Peter and his fellow Apostles put on the Priestly Robe, then the first church is catholic 2. If you can prove that Peter ,Paul and the other Apostles use the rosaries then you have a point 3. If Mary the mother of Jesus was venerated to the status of Mother of God during the times of Peter and the other disciples, then you have a point. 4. Show me the earliest Monastery if it coincides with Jesus or His Apostles 5. Which seminary or Monastery did Timothy attend 6. How many Nuns were recorded in the books of Acts of the Apostle... Hehehe, why were the apostles killed and yet u are moving around freely? |

Splinz: You see! While the Holy Spirit fell on the disciples on Pentecost Day in AD 31, marking the official beginning of the New Testament Church, your own Catholic church was established in AD 33.
Obviously, the Church of God established in AD 31 by Jesus Christ Himself can't be the same one you claimed He established in AD 33.
So what? Go and find out who is the true founder of your church.

The Catholic Church never claimed that all early christians were Catholics. In fact history tells us that there were many many different types of Christianity in the first century. A lot of these the Catholic Church claims were heresies.
However the version of Christianity that won out over the others was the orthodox Christianity of the Roman Catholic Church. No protestant can make the claim of antiquity that the Catholic Church has unless they claim to hark back to heresy. so dralien, slinz which heresy do you want to trace from? the arians or the judaizers? i know u keep d saturday sabbath. |

An2elect2: You stiff-necked man. May the Lord rebuke you for associating Him with a pagan religion. To say Jesus was Catholic is blasphemy against the Spirit of God. Since you seem to hold John Calvin in high regard, this is his opinion on the matter. “I deny not that the early Christians uniformly give high honour to the Roman Church, and speak of it with reverence. . . . pious and holy bishops, when driven from their sees, often betook themselves to Rome as an asylum or haven. . . . It therefore added very great authority to the Roman Church, that . . . [it] adhered more firmly to the doctrine once delivered, . . .” (IV, 6:16) |

Splinz: They love lies and deceits more than God's revealed word. All of these is as a result of placing traditions above Scriptures, thereby making the word of God of no effect.
Yes, the title of “Peter” or “Pater” or “Patre” was a title of religious primacy that Simon Magus (the sorcerer and founder of the Catholic church) donned. Thus, he carried the title Simon “Peter.” The word “Pater” is of the same derivation as the word “Papa” or “Father” or “Pope.”
So when they talk of 'a' Peter as their pope, simply know that they are talking of Simon Magus. You see ur ignorance, peter is frm d greek word petrus and the aramaic cephas. Pope is actually more french for papa. They are not derived from each other. |

true2god: Self preservation is a natural instinct God imbedded in a man. Anybody or race that lacks this instinct is doomed for extinction and demographic replacement. 80% of the lands the Arabs occupied today are owned by the barbers, the Nubians, the Persians, the black Africans, the yazidis, the Assyrians and the Copt but have been displaced by the Arabs using Islam as a vehicle to plunder and conquer. Only the person who fails to learn from history doomed himself when history repeats itself. The Europeans are digging their own grave allowing a mass Arab migration. This has nothing to do with Christianity. The God of the Bible is not an advocate for stupidity and complacency in the face of an existential threat. Concupiscence is also found in man, so is irrational fear. It is not right to tag all muslims terrorists or discriminate against people simply because they are muslims. Self preservation isn't the ultimate law, LOVE is. |

I thought it was an historical fact that the Catholic church has many rituals. I read what you wrote & appreciate the definition you gave. I was giving my view...and trying to gain an understanding of the whole concept. Hmm, if you say so. And yes it is a historic fact that Christianity from it earliest times has had rituals and those rituals can proudly be seen in orthodox churches, oriental churches and the catholic church, infact any church that is over 1000yrs old have about 7 major rituals, they are: baptism, eucharist AKA last supper, confirmation, penance AKA confession, anoiting d sick, matrimony, holy orders AKA ordination. These are called sacraments or holy mystery. They are rituals and i am sure every xtian church have atleast 2 of them. |

History deny's the Catholic Church-and History say's otherwise. But here's a good argument you may, be able, to answer-As strange as it sounds you say it was the priest who gave fake I/D's so Hitler wont get them, does this mean the Priest were lying to the enemy to save souls. Jesus said {Matthew 10:19-20} you can say whatever you like, but history is clear no institution on earth saved as much jews as catholics! No goverment or protestant church or organisation did more than catholic to save jews. Do u even know who inspired hitler to kill jews? The books he read? You are Catholic correct? So your response is expected. The Catholic church is rife with rituals.
I have partaken in Baptism & continue (quarterly) in Communion/Footwashing and I don't call those "rituals". We have been commanded to engage in those ordinances. The word/definition is where we have a disagreement. So when a catholic says the truth it immediately become a lie abi? OLAADEGBU: Water baptism and the Lord's Supper are the only ordinances commanded to be done in Christianity, no more no less. ritual /ˈrɪtʃʊəl/ noun 1. a religious or solemn ceremony consisting of a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order. adjective 1. relating to or done as a religious or solemn rite. Both baptism and lord's supper are rituals, they are religious ceremony done in a prescribed order. take bread and wine, give thanks while recall what Jesus did, pray, break d bread and eat d bread and wine... that is the religious ceremony called d last supper. it satisfy the definition of a ritual, hence it is a ritual. |
