I am referring to d oil specification (weight, thickness, viscousity, temp, pressure tolerance and other properties)...the oil specification is on the oil cap of your vehicle or better still in d car manual, Incase the oil cap has been changed.
I am not sure any car from 1998 advises to use 20w50 so I am surprised u say ur user manual suggests u can use 20w50. Really surpurised and I am forced to ask which car u drive.

Although 20w50 can be used to see out the remaining life of an old engine, what really pains me is when I see people buy a tokunbo car and when they do engine oil change, they are replacing it with a 20w50 oil without recourse or obedience to d specified oil for the vehicle.

Do u really think opening sump to wash out sludge is a normal car maintenance procedure...no, it's not sir and it's because of the use of poor qaulity oils without treatment, that breaks down easily and leaves substances in ur engine when subjected to high temperatures and pressure for a long period of time.

And when u do transmission service, all d old oil has to be drained and disposed and have fresh specified oil poured in to guage.
There is an oil spec on the cap, but according to my manual (attached), 20w 50 is acceptable in this climate.

Yeah dropping the pan is definitely not typical maintenance, but it was my fault mostly for not changing the oil on time. Even now my oil is very dirty, meaning I have been procrastinating the oil change and dropping the pan is for my peace of mind, so the engine doesn’t knock. After that, if I keep up with regular oil changes, which I always say I’ll do but never quite do, the engine should be relatively clean.

I’m sure there are better oils out there, that may allow for longer oil change intervals, but the total oil doesn’t fall under this category, so though it is acceptable, I reckon it just has to be changed very often, like maybe every 2000-3000km, just a guess.

As per the transmission, I thought some fluid will still be left over after draining? Anyways as you said, there is a dipstick. I’m so thankful mine has a dipstick and is not one of those new ones that are “sealed”, so if anything I can always gauge it.

The plan though was to do a cold fluid drain since the fluid volume varies with temperature. Catch all the fluid, measure what came out and put back precisely that amount of new cold fluid.

Isn’t it rather foolishness to already guarantee him a second term immediately he won the first, without even looking at the upcoming track record?

That’s how you guys always let sentiments becloud your better judgment. Somebody hasn’t even done any work yet, on first day of first tenure you are already saying grant him another, chai!

Great gesture by the governor! It’s always good to bring smiles to people’s faces, but he can and should do more.

Find a way to instill law and order in Lagos. The rate at which danfo just disregard red traffic light is alarming. It’s as if they are daring you law enforcers mr governor, like you guys won’t even stop them to give them even if it’s to warn them talk less of giving them a traffic fine to pay.

This "it has served me well" u guys always say for palm oil. How many years have u used that oil without having any engine issues?
Most of the damage those bad oils cause begin to surface after like 2yrs of ehailing use. So the testimonies should wait till like 3yrs then u can confirm if it has served u well or not.

No be by prayer and no be curse, if u use wrong fluids u are bound to change engine or transmission sooner or later.

U guys don't fathom d level of stress on d engine driving from morning till night everyday, then u now come and add to it with wrong oil. It's just a matter if time...
Is it the brand of oil or the weight?

My car supports 20w 50 according to my user manual, but if it’s the brand, I’m not sure if you mean Total isn’t reputable.

I’ve been using it for years (Total quart 20w50) and the issues I’ve had were my own doing by not changing the oil on time. I had to drop the oil pan and spray brake clean on the oil pickup screen to free it up.

I have no issues when I keep up with the oil changes.

The one that scares me is doing a transmission fluid change soon on my car. Toyota ATF cost a lot and my car uses more than 7 liters or so, can’t remember, although just a change shouldn’t drain all the fluid, still!

I totally agree that ehailing puts a toll on our cars and we need to change oil often. As a matter of fact I’m going for an oil change tomorrow and dropping the sump again just for good measure cause it’s been a while I changed my oil.

“To fully kit one policeman with uniform, taser, tactical gear (light, knife, jacket, belt, gloves, shoulder, ankle, and boots), bulletproof vest, ballistic helmet, tear gas, push-to-talk on cellular communication equipment, rain gear, etc, will cost at least N3 million. Hence to kit 33,000 police officers in Lagos will cost about N99 billion. This is our reality if we truly want a highly motivated and fully equipped police force in the state."

Okay so let’s break it down:-
Light - 5,000
Knife - 5,000
Belt, gloves and padding - N15,000
Bulletproof vest (not necessary for every officer) - 100,000
Helmet - 20,000
Push to talk walkie - 10,000
Uniform - 15,000
Boots - 10,000

Total so far is 180,000 and you have a well kitted officer.

Tell them to wait in your car till you get the alert.

Dropped a girl at unilag(science) she transferred and showed me hastily. Told her to wait till I get the alert. She started complaining that she was late.
After about 10 mins I told her that I can no longer wait, that we should go to GTB or access atm. She asked about the one she transferred, I said I've not seen any alert, and she can't be wasting my time and that if I get the alert I'll transfer back to her. She followed me to the ATM, gave me cash, then I took her back to the science fac, and then collected her acct. Till today I've not gotten the alert.

The other one that happened at Dmatel, I explained it here. I didn't get the alert, but then I allowed him leave the car cos he was checking into the hotel. I later went to the hotel to collect cash. He even added extra 2k.

Make sure you get the alert before they leave, cos some of them Na scammers, just like that girl up there.

And then also, let them show you the app receipt. Better still ask which bank App they want to use, cos some banks delay or prob network issues. Like access bank. If they use access to transfer to GTB, it takes a whole day, and sometimes, they send back to the sender.
Sometimes it just seems like asking them to wait is a waste of my time and their time, because I know some legit transfers can take a while for whatever reason, but it seems this is the better approach. Or best yet, I will only collect cash.

Anyways I have been paid now. Yay!

I don’t know if it’s cause I reported both rides to bolt.

Riders need to understand abeg, it’s not easy to drive someone up and down for free. Then still pay for petrol and pay for bolt commission out of pocket because you didn’t get paid.

One of them was telling me to calm down, and I usually am calm. I once let a guy pay me after two days no stress and I let a lady out the next day.

But sometimes you need that money like NOW!!! Like even to buy petrol!

Anyways matter resolved, but men, I was nearly hypertensive cause of just 3k but it was my sweat abeg!

If another rider asks me “what is the color of your car?”, I just may lose my mind.

I was so frustrated yesterday, my ratings on bolt have dropped from 5 to 4.9, na wa...

I can’t tell who gave me the one stars but I know for sure this one lady did.

First she called and asked “where are you?”, and I was like can’t you see me on your map?

Then when I got to her pickup, she was like what is the color of your car? My head just dropped.

I mean unless, the ride was ordered for you, why will you ask me for my car color when everything should be on the app? Or isn’t it on the app? I haven’t used bolt as a rider before, only Uber.

I kept mute when she asked for my car color, then when she finally entered my car, she was like you are rude. I knew the one star was already sure, so I just dammed the rating consequences and told her that it’s a very annoying question if she was the one that booked the ride. I told her all my information including my name should be on her phone.

She then said what if I came with a different car? I was like why would you enter a car that is different from the one on your app? Why would the app show Benz as pickup and the driver shows up in a Yota and you will still enter?

Anyways, bad mood is hopefully gone and I can get back to 5 stars, cause usually I don’t let things like this bother me, but yesterday, I was so short fused and was tired of all the stupid questions.

Where are you?
What is your name?
What is the make of your car?
What is the color of your car?

PoliticsNigerian Governors Still Commissioning Roads In 2021 by VaselineCrew(op): 12:26am On Dec 19, 2021
It’s shameful that we are in a state in Nigeria where road commissioning is seen as a huge deal.

We are so used to mediocrity that we sing the praises of political leaders for constructing tiny 5-20km roads.

Then the governors will come out and cut ribbon, just because of a road that is supposed to be done by a local government.

These guys have so ruined Nigeria that they feel you, yes you, will be elated on seeing the new road, that’s why they throw parties, hire dancers, and the likes, just so they can open a road that has been constructed with tax payers money. They even sometimes have a so called “high table” for the so called V.I.Ps, to talk and talk and receive praise for doing just a tiny percentage of their official duties.

Then again, what do we expect? When the road to your house has been bad since you were a child, and it’s just now getting fixed when you are already an adult? I guess it would be time to throw a party, as per, thank God our slave masters finally deemed us worthy to give us roads, one of the most basic aspects of governance.

Sometimes, even two or more governors will abandon their post to join the commissioning party for that basic 10km road. To them, they have done you rats a big favor.

God have mercy on us!

The misogynists and women batterers are out in full force. The total comments when a woman is the victim of violence from yet another driver.

The reason why this always happens with women in Ubers is because of people like the commenters on the last 4 pages. They hate women so much that driving them around has them triggered. They are so triggered that once she says something they have their fists out.

Of course when faced with a man like themselves, they know they cannot beat him to a pulp and get away with it by claiming he had a sharp tongue, even when they pick up drug addicts who don't want to pay them. This is why it's called gender based violence.

This thread is opinionated by bottom feeders who have come out with their usual skewed reasoning. The only people who can make these comments must be so embittered that reasoning is lost. If it were a man in that picture, they would believe him without doubt. Of course he is completely innocent.

And for those who say that the driver wouldn't have such high ratings, you clearly are lying to yourselves. There are some terrible Ubers who aren't rated, because it is better to just be done with them than have anything to do with them once the ride is over.

Whether or not she started it, she is bleeding and that should tell you enough about the animal that drove her. He should be in jail in a country with men who have brains, not men who reason through their private parts and ego. That driver looks ugly, evil and violent .
