Princek12:I disagree with this. The principal objective of having a vehicle database in the first place is to enable approved government officials to track vehicle ownership anywhere within the boundaries of Nigeria, otherwise what would be the point of a database if vehicles registered in Lagos cannot be tracked in Gombe? The state can assist the federal government in registration of vehicles and maintenance of the database, but it's ownership should ultimately be federal. Governmental agents such as the Federal Road Saftey, shouldn't have to go though the balls of the state to obtain important information. If there's been an accident in Abuja and the vehicle involved was registered in Ogun, first aiders ought to have systems that would provide them with the contact information of vehicle owners or their relatives within minutes. |
Point of note, in the uk and USA, a certain percentage of your income goes on mandatory taxes and this shelves the take home down considerably, for example, a person earning 2000 GBP parts with 40% for taxes remaining 1200, pays minimum of 600 GBP for rent in a one room per month, remaining 600 GBP, then about 250 GBP for other logistic expenses, does he have anything left? The naija guy earns 120k and has roughly 100k left after expenses, provided family doesn't grab his pocket, I must say with the same job specs, a Nigerian employee is better off, the only advantage being that the essential amenities of life are better abroad than in naija, but we will reach uhuru someday, amen,
Na for where you get your figures? If you re earning 2000, you pay 275 pounds in income tax, and around 160 pounds in NI. you end up with a net take home of £1565. If you live in London, you can get a very comfortable room for 400 pounds a month including all bills (electricity, water, internet, gas, & council tax). . . .which gives a net of 1165. If you buy a 120 pounds one month travel ticket between zone one and zone three, your net earnings comes down to 1045 pounds. (and this is after all your expense including medical bills has been sorted out) In naira terms, and at the rate of 250 naira to a pound, you still have over 260 grand to flex with before your next pay which is only 30 days away. |
naijababe:no mind them!!!. . . you find em working in engineering coys when they should be serving their country by taking up teaching jobs in public schools. |
naijababe:well, it has its rewarding moments too, if it doesn't, you wouldn't find thousands trying to get their foot in the door. I for one will probably have considered other careers like being a movie star. |
naijababe:there's actually a drawn-down period of training and mentoring, but more often than not, it is largely typified by associates and senior analysts passing all the grunt work to your desk and expecting results in the next hour or so. . . .coffees and pizzas are your best friend and when you should be closing work at 8:00pm, there's always a new client request to be filled before 8 am the following day. Even interns experience this, it's the way of life, it's the way you're trained and mentored! |
Answer these questions as best and as honest as you can; -- What do you enjoy about what you re studying at the moment? -- How easy have you found your course so far? -- Which one of these would you rather be; . . a research scientist? an entrepreneur? a wealthy contractor? an employee in a Multinational corp? a government employee? --- I'm sure you must have had experience working on an Industrial attachment, I'd presume this must be in a sector relating to your current specialty. Would you be happy working at that role on a more permanent basis? -- Do you enjoy playing around things outside your current specialty such as; programming, project management, fashion, FOREX trading, stock market investments, advising people personal/business problems, making deals, helping your parents in their business? etc etc? --- Who makes the most important decisions on your career? daddy? mummy? both? you? sisters/brothers?. . . PS; These questions are geared to draw out your strengths and motivating factors and properly advise you on what could potentially be best for you |
if a simple thing can evade his comprehension ability then I am sorry for whoever sent him to school.me too. |
Insert QuoteIt appears from your post that you re currently studying for a degree but you have absolutely no idea what to do with your life, you'd just like to hear opinions on "Market compatible" MSc fields (wtf is market compatible?) . . you have absolutely no idea how a Masters could add value to your life or your current specialization, all you just want is to get a "Market compatible" Masters (again, wtf is market compatible?). You seriously need to think of what you'd like to do with your life child, there's an old adage that says "Only dead fishes swim with the stream". Think about yourself, your strength and weaknesses, what you want out of life, and then think about how you feel obtaining a masters could bring you closer to achieving these personal goals. |
naijababe:I wouldn't agree with the view expressed above based on personal experience. As a graduate, I was employed into a role where the expectations are for me to hit the ground running, no one has the time or resource to train you on what they believe you should know already, not in a country where you have 120 smart candidates applying for a role. . . .the bar has been raised! That asides, graduate recruits in law, consulting and Investment Banking are known to put in up to 90 hours of work a week. The street jingo "roundabout" describes a situation where graduates work overnight and on the following morning, call a cab who drops them at home, just for them to have a shower and change clothings, the same cab waits outside to take em back to work!!!!. . . .this happens all the time. |
Soaring inflation rates is a death knell for graduate earners in Nigeria, the problem is further compounded by lack of promising liquid investment opportunities with good rates of return. This situation eventually leaves several earners in a position where their wages is left in banks to earn the meager interest rates and in the end, they only end up making net loses over time. So ow much should an entry level graduate demand for? Well, there's no "appropriate" figure on this, graduates should rather aim for a deal which will see a consistent upward review in base pay with passing time, along with an elaborate training program that will provide you with highly desirable skills and experience. I know a few banks in Nigeria that will only increase graduates salary by a very small percentage after every four or five years, while their UK counterpart is already earning twice his entry level pay and will most likely have moved from an entry level role to a senior/associate position. |

UCL is good only if you re staying within UK. Outside the UK, it makes very little difference, unlike Cambridge and Oxford! |
I've always known this a long time ago, seems rather unfair to blame all the violence on Boko Haram, a peaceful sect whose members are mostly retired old men and women! Anyone who couldn't see that America is up in their sleeves with obvious mischief needs more than a pair of glasses, for such people, anything short of a complete change of brain would do them no good! The pirate organization collectively known as the West have set their eyes on the rich Nigerian oil for a long a time now using all and every means at their disposal to stir a little storm and then some more storm, till the country breaks apart!. . . They've got their writings over it all; the Biafran war, Niger-Delta fiasco, Sagamu riots, student protests, Lagos Flood, chair throwing at the National Assembly and of course, lately, the upsurge in Boko Haram activities, were all planned and executed from Washington with inputs from 10 Dowing Str london! What they ve forgotten is that Nigerians are way smarter than them, we see their every move and we shall all be ready and waiting with our cutlasses and dane guns when their drones arrive, I swear, this will be the last time any of them will ever think of stealing directly or indirectly from mother africa! |
If u want to compare hitler,u should compare him with animals like geg, obj, ibb and co that have kept your likes stu.pid, demoralized and disfunctional for eternity. Just because Gaddafi did not practice democrazy like america and copycat nigeria does not mean he was evil comparativelyNah, he wasn't evil comparatively!. . .He loves his people so much so that he hired assassins and snipers to shoot at them! You people should stop making statements that are below your IQ, i know a former classmate who lost a close relative from shots fired by Ghadaffi's paid goons. . . . Now Gaddaffi is being seen as the victim, so much so idiots now call him brother, kmt! |

Quick Rhetorical Quiz for you: "Further explanation" or "Farther explanation" , which is 'correct'?Refer back to my post and the explanation i provided on the usage of both words. I mentioned that both words can be used interchangeably, I haven't said there is NO difference between the two. While further can be used in several contexts including reference to physical location, the usage of farther is mostly restricted to distance and location. The original poster used furthest in this context So we went to dinner. I absolutely love chinese and there are a number of really good chinese restaurants in the town but he took me to the one i absolutely hate and its also the furthest away,I'm sure i wouldn't have to explain that she was referring to a physical location. Shall i also include that when you use " Furthest" and not "further", it's mostly the case that you are referring to a location which makes it interchangeable with "farthest"? |
Go on soun. People are so caught up in their own little knowledge world, that they find it hard to learn and get with the program. It's the 21st century darling. The two words are quite different. Not everyone knows this, because it's one of those common grammatical mistakes. Again, in the OP's context, Farthest is more appropriate. Stop misleading Aunty Uju.
Below is what Oxford says about the subject matter. I think you are the one caught up in your own little knowledge world. It's the 21st century darling, we're sweating our arses off trying to improve current global literacy rates, coming up with arguments based on what you "think" is right without reference and hoping people could simply "learn and get with the program" is only going to make our efforts drag! more at; http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/further

It's not a matter of furthest being a word. In the context of your post, you ought to have used "Farthest" instead on "Furthest". Farthest is used to comare Physical distance, while Furthest is used for the non-physical.Both are actually used interchangeably. There are no laid down rules on which is more appropriate! The farther you walk, the further you get The further you walk, the farther you get English shouldn't have to be a pain in the bum! |
Smilenw:haha, the joke is on you for being lousy and not knowing "furthest" is an English word!. . gosh, the sad loss of attending a cheap school! |

You should have KNOWN HER ENOUGH before asking her out on a first date.
