MentalCase98:Trump is a career criminal. From the 1980s until he was elected president in 2016, Donald Trump and his businesses were involved in over 4,000 legal cases in U.S. federal and state courts, including battles with casino patrons, million-dollar real estate lawsuits, personal defamation lawsuits, and over 100 business tax disputes.[1] He has also been accused of sexual harassment and sexual assault,[2][3] with one accusation resulting in Trump being held civilly liable.[4]It's not the democrats that started investigating Trump, in fact the justice department had Bern investigating Trump's criminal activities since 1973. I view MAGA cult members as criminal minded and emotionally troubled people. |
feedthenation:This is what I have been expecting the democrat led senate to do since the Biden family crime investigation has been the main legislative agenda of the Republican led house. The Senate should also appoint a special council to investigate the Trump/Krushner crime family. Then if the democrats take over the house as expected in the next elections, they should commence impeachment the first day after inauguration. You don't bring boxing gloves to a sword fight, you bring a bigger sword. I am beginning to get annoyed at the meekness or unresponsiveness of the democrats. Since they are ready to burn down the country to protect crime lord Trump, the democrats should obliged them. |
masseratti:False premise! Why? Because we are basically import (in order words dollar) dependent for basic products - energy (fuels), food (rice, dairy, fish, flour and flour products), clothes (fabrics, materials and accessories), electronics (including phones, TVs, etc.), building materials (tiles, glass, aluminium, cables, etc). And our main means of earning this dollar is crude oil exports. |
emmybobo1:This is where binance comes in. I receive money from abroad in USDT. The whole exchange takes less than 15 minutes from the comfort of your bed. This is why government is now targeting binance and crypto. They can't control transactions in crypto. |
Lexusgs430:My brother the paradox is shocking. The CBN says they have floated the Naira, meaning they want the laws of demand and supply to determine the value of the Naira, but is now complaining about how and where people choose to change their currencies. Does that even make sense? |
otipoju:I was one of those utterly disappointed by Buhari. I supported him the first term because of his socalled integrity. I expected him to be brutal like he was as military head of state, for example kill or at least jail oil thieves - both those in NNPC and at the pipelines and loading docks, jail corrupt government officials, etc. But at the end of the day, he made Jonathan look like a Saint. Tinubu, is not even interested in corruption. He is more interested implicating World Bank and IMF inspired economic policies - free market economy. Even the US, China, UK, etc., are not implementing completely free market economies. They have subsidies, protections, tariffs, on all critical imported items. |
GeneralDae:To me the problem is not defending the Naira, after all China and Japan still defend their currency. The elephant in the room everyone decide to be blind to is corruption. Its corruption thar made CBN not to declare its financial report for 8 years, its corruption that have made NNPC not to have declared their financial report till date. It was corruption that destroyed the subsidy regime. I have never understood the subsidy regime though. NNPC ,who was the only importer of petrol says it does crude swap deals with partners, but at the same time they say they pay subsidy. So who were they paying subsidies to? Instead of Tinubu to kill the elephant in the room, he decided to go after the ants because they are a softer target. |
Peppysco:Yes agreed that economic collapse did not start today, but must the collapse be completed under Tinubu? One thing I respect Buhari for was his refusal to float the Naira and remove subsidy during the oil crash of 2015. The IMF, World Bank and international financial organisations and some so called Nigerian financial expert imposed tremendous pressure on Buhari to float the Naira and remove fuel subsidy. He refused because he was aware that it was a trap, a trap IMF and world Bank has been setting for us since the days of IBB. Now, Tinubu fell for the trap, and we are facing run away inflation, which will completely destroy the economy. We are watching (popcorn and coke in hand) to see how Tinubu will free us from this trap. |
Segunbabba:It's not about Binance or Kucoin, it has to do with the law of demand and supply. As long as we export crude in dollars and now turn around to import petrol at a higher price in dollars, but sell to Nigerians in Naira, there will always be upwards pressure on the dollar. If we now add the other imports like Rice, dairy products, sugar, clothes and textiles, medicine, etc., and then also add services like medical tourism and school fees, you will understand that the Naira would forever be subject to the laws of gravity (free fall) The government is always looking for scape goats to blame on its lack of coherent financial, fiscal and structural policies. If its not banks, they would blame Bureau de Change, they had even blame Aboki.com before. Now its Binance and Kucoin. |
BoldBrainz:It's viscous cycle. As long as Nigeria does not refine a drop of crude oil and our energy mix is primarily petrol (and diesel) based. Then we would require more dollars to import petrol with each round of imports, which in turn lead to increase more increase in price. So each round of imports will lead to increases in price of petrol. I'm effect, we should expect petrol increases every 3 months. |
basilico:So Mike Pence who was a Republican far before Trump, who was a governor and house of representatives member is now a traitor the minute he decided to do the right thing and not follow the criminal instructions of his criminal boss. According to MAGA cult, the only patriots in the US is Donald Trump who incidentally ran away from laying his life to fight for the US and would not allow any member of his family to fight for US. Mike Pence is a traitor for not declaring Trump winner and himself vice president in an election he knew they clearly lost? You drivel is so senseless that it borders on schizophrenia. What you wrote and insinuated makes no sense whatsoever. What Pence said is exactly what the article you linked said 100%. Let me itemise what process for Objecting Electoral College results entail according to the link you quoted 1. One House member and one Senator submit an objection. 2. The two chambers of Congress separate to debate for two hours and to vote on whether to continue counting the votes in light of the objection. 3. Both chambers must vote by a simple majority to concur with the objection for it to stand, otherwise the objection fails. 4. If both chambers of Congress affirm the objection and the objection results in no one candidate receiving the necessary 270-vote Electoral College majority, the 12th Amendment dictates a congressional process for selecting a president and vice president. 5. The House of Representatives votes to elect the new president. As a bloc, members of the House cast one vote per state, choosing between the three candidates who received the most Electoral College votes. 6. The Senate votes to elect the Vice President, casting one vote per senator. What Pence said is that there would be chaos in the house of representatives, why? Because the house of representatives was controlled by Pelosi led Democratic Party. Ironically, under this scenario, Pence would retain his Vice Presidency as the Senate then was controlled by Republicans. |
Favorisieren:How have we fared after 24 years of continuous democracy? Compared that to how China fared after 24 years of continuous autocracy. I am not in anyway advocating for military rule, but democracy seems to favour only the ruling class. Now if democracy is working, the military would not have any excuse to come in. Ask your self why ordinary people come put to celebrate military coups if they were enjoying democracy so much. |
mysticwarrior:Wars are the most unpredictable of human endeavours. Once the hostility starts, you can never predict the outcome. Numbers and weaponry alone don't necessarily determine the outcome of wars, other factors like motivation, terrain, organisational capabilities, alliances, weather and sometimes pure luck plays crucial roles, else US would not have lost to Vietnam, Russia would have taken over Ukraine within days. US would never send in boots to fight in Niger, they would only send in weapons and help with communication and intelligence. Russia is looking to extend its influence in Africa and the Niger crisis would present a perfect opportunity to have allies. Russia would not be directly involved, it will only send in Wagner forces - openly or clandestinely. Bro I agree that you have deep understanding in legal proceedings, but when it comes to military history and diplomacy leave it for those who are born to analyze such.President Tinubu also does not have a good understanding of diplomacy and history. He never consulted historians or diplomats before issuing threats and declaring ultimatums. He complicated the situation right from the beginning. I still remembered the very first time you quoted me and you said " Britain has never lost a battle" that was some years back and I reminded you of how Britain lost the American war of independence.Maybe you misunderstood me. What I meant to say was Britain was never conquered. Julius Ceaser and Danes conquered parts of it, but was never able to subjugate the whole island before they were driven out. Furthermore, I view the US war of independence as war among brothers. George Washington and a bulk of his soldiers were of British roots and trained by Britain. |
Favorisieren:Democracy has not been working in Africa. All it has produced are civilian dictators, rigged elections, corruption and continued exploitation by colonial masters. |
basilico:Pence letter to the Senate detailing his position. Take note of the first paragraph of the second page.
|
abbeynism:Who is Ecowas, who is Nigeria? Nigeria is practically Ecowas. When ECOWAS intervened in Liberia, who funded the war and sacrificed its soldiers? Nigeria funded that adventure 70%, and what did you we gained in return? A military intervention in Niger will be the worst mistake Nigeria will ever make. |
mysticwarrior:Military intervention would not involve Niger alone, it will also involve Mali, Burkina Faso, Chad and Guinea, and not forgeting Wagner. The whole of Nigeria's northern border will be affected. It will just become another proxy war between Russia and USA. Except the US promises to finance the war, I don't subscribe to wasting our little earnings and gains from subsidy on a senseless war. |
IjeBos:Don't mind them, they were aptly described by Hillary Clinton as deplorable. Pence has said numerous times that he lacked the powers to reject electoral votes. He even wrote a letter to the Senate to reiterate it. Just because pence explained what would have happened had he rejected the votes, the deplorables jumped on that to push the narrative that pence said he has the legal authority to reject electoral votes already confirmed by state executives and legislatures. |
Obrigardo:The guy is really annoying. He seems to be trying too hard to please his employers. If you listened to the twitter video Pence never said or insinuated that that there is a legal process for anything, what he said was that if he rejected the votes as was presured and blackmailed by Trump and his crackpot lawyers (he used the adjective crackpot deliberately to highlight the illegality of their scheme), then the issue would have gone to the house of representatives which would have led to chaos. |
Ogene001:Na you wan fix election for dem? Niger is a sovereign state. Nigeria or even ECOWAS has no rights to interfere in their domestic affairs. If the Nigeriens want democracy they would fight for it, or at best the people would solicit for help. |
Biodun556:Ganduje is just being petty and vindictive. In politics there is no permanent enemy or friend but permanent interests. Your best friend today could be your worst enemy the next political cycle and become your best friend again the one after that. Keyamo took the Lagos State assembly to court for clearing Governor Tinubu of Certificate forgery. Today he is the one defending the same certificate forgery. Tinubu said horrible things about Buhari during the 2003, 2007 and 2011 election cycles. By 2015 he was the strongest ally of the same Buhari. Even atiku and Tinubu were strong allies in 2007 and 2015, but are are worst enemies today. |
Mom007:War should not even be an option. A war in Niger will have disastrous consequences on the whole sub region. |
onuman:Tinubu did not handle the Niger situation well at all. I am sure he just issued threats to Niger (a sovereign country) without consulting with diplomats. Also the fact that he has not appointed a foreign minister did not help matters. You don't get directly involved with the power struggles of another nation. You don't threaten a new set of leaders with war, most especially a next door neighbour. You wait to see how things play out before taking action. You can condemn a coup, you can make a general ecowas statement but never threaten to use force or violence. You even don't break diplomatic relations. We have lost control of the Niger situation. They have turned to Russia and the other fellow coup coalition countries for support. |
DeepSight:I do not think those who acknowledge aliens visiting earth are lunatics, I just think its a belief that people have invested their emotions on, just like any other religious beliefs. They rely on second, third or even fifth account narratives and not on actual eye witness accounts. All the so called eye witness accounts, photos, videos are never concrete or convincing proof but grainy and unclear objects or lights. Even yours truly have seen what you will consider unidentified flying objects twice in my lifetime, but I leave it as unknown or unidentified instead of making a conjecture of what they were. In this modern age where everyone carries a camera and audio recorder always, if alien craft comes anywhere near where people are, they would have been recorded. Also in this age of satellites that can give clear pictures of cars on the road, I am sure they would have captured at least one clear picture of an alien craft. Now, if these unidentified flying objects are actually non human crafts or abnormal weather phenomenon, then I believe they would be of terrestrial origin and not from another star system, because as I said, the physics, technology and energy to bridge the huge distance barrier is impossible according to our own science. But it would make more sense if it was an ancient advanced terrestrial civilization that is hiding some where inside the earth, maybe somewhere on the south Pole, inside the furthest depth of the ocean or in some underground space inside the earth. Then they come out to the surface occasionally to check us out in a non intrusive way. I have read all Eric Von Danikens books, I gave read other theories of aliens from the bible and past. You should know I know what I am talking about. |
DeepSight:The watched the video in the link. I am not convinced it's an alien craft from another star. To me it could be anything, that's why it is referred to as "Unidentified Flying Object" Even the report said many people tried to hypothesise different explanations. You know people like me don't subscribe to the God of the Gaps" as explanation for unknown phenomenon. Aliens has become the "God of the Gaps" for Unknown or unidentified flying objects. If aliens could actually break the light barrier and have the capacity to travel the great distances between stars, then their physics and technology would be way beyond ours. That means the have a huge source of energy we are yet to discover. Comparison with us will be like the difference between us and cockroaches. |
Showguyz:Mars is too small to retain an atmosphere or gasses necessary for life. Mars cannot even retain liquid water for long periods on its surface. Mars does not have a magnetic core that can generate magnetic field to protect it from highly charged energy particles from the sun. Now, it's possible for microbial life to have evolved for brief periods in the past whereby water temporarily seeped out from the interior to flood the surface, but such microbial life cannot be sustained for enough time yo evolve into multicellular organisms. Proxima B cannot possible have life because it is part of a binary system. Binary stars cannot possibly have habitable planets. |
Maynman:Speculative at best, wishful thinking at worst. |
DrAda:Believe me earth is very special. Not only earth, but also the solar system is very very special. Even the milky-way galaxy is extremely special. The centres of many galaxies are so active that it does not permit life in any star within the galaxy. |
Calitoscassius:Gbam. I put God and Aliens in the same category - No concrete evidence for their existence, just speculations and conjectures. |
DeepSight:Eko Atlantic City and Lekki Toll Bridge, are those the best civilian rule offered Lagos, after 24 years of continuous civilian rule? First and foremost those projects are privately funded or tolled. Then those projects confirmed what I first said, that those projects were built with small privileged group in mind - the elite, and not the generality of the poor lagos masses. Now let's compare to military rule - Lagos Ikorodu express way and Third Mainland Bridge, and various housing estates including 1004, FESTAC, Satellite Town, Games Village. These projects benefited the generality of Lagosians including the poor. Even the elitist Victoria Garden City and Banana Island was conceived under the military. For your information, I lived and schooled in Ikoyi and V/I. In the end, absolute power by one man can never be a good thing. Never ever. There can be a few instances were a country is lucky with a benevolent absolute ruler. But this is the exception rather than the rule. Also democracy has the inbuilt nature of correcting its mistakes over time. For example when OBJ was president he would routinely suspend a governor in a state where he declared a state of emergency. That can no longer happen. He would routinely impeach governors with a tiny minority of the state assembly. That can no longer happen.I agree that absolute power depends on the benevolence of the dictator in power , but I disagree that absolute power by one man can never be a good thing. Infact throughout history, the highest and fastest progress was achieved under dictatorship. From Caesar's Rome to Ancient Egypt to Victorian England to modern China. Democracy in Africa seems never to be able to correct itself but keeps on repeating the same mistakes, which are election rigging, sit tightism if civilian rulers, corruption and tyranny of the ruling elite. Democracy has many flaws but it self corrects over time and is the best option in the long run.Democracy is not even an absolute term but relative. The US is not a true democracy in the true sense of the word. The electoral college system does not necessarily depend on the votes of the electorate, but on electors sent by the states and approved by Congress. This anomaly was what Trump tried to exploit by trying to send an alternative set of electors not reflected by the actual votes. If the vice president and Congress had accepted the alternative electors, the votes would not have mattered and trump would have been sworn in as president. Also the British system cannot be said to a full democracy. The monarch is the Head of state. The prime minister and his cabinet serve and pledge allegiance to the king. |
IjeBos:Exactly! China would never have made such progress so fast under democracy. The problem is decision making under democracy is very slow (more bureaucracy), projects more expensive and time consuming(more interests to satisfy) and more corruption involved. So you see why Africa is still confused whether we want democracy or dictatorship. Democracy offers more personal and group liberties (but only for the dominant groups, dominant tribes, dominant religion, elites), while dictatorship offers better economic stability and infrastructure for the poor. As bad as Russia is in terms of freedom and liberty, the poor enjoys more economic stability than even the US. |
IjeBos:I understand your surprise that people in Africa are beginning to question this democrazy bestowed upon us by the West. Truth be told military has its benefits even though it has numerous disadvantages. I have lived under both and I can tell you that in terms of national cohesion and unity, the military is way better than civilians. I schooled in Sokoto under military rule, and I can tell you it was a wonderful experience. No sharia or any such nonsense. The military would would never have allowed such. There had been many Christian administrators/governors in the core North, and no one raises an eye brow. There had been Igbo governors in Lagos, and it was not an issue at all. But under civilian administration a person of igbo mother but Yoruba father is not considered indigene enough to be governor. Civilian administrations in Africa tend to use ethnic, religious and tribal fault lines as a political strategy and so tend to threaten to tear the country apart. Militancy, Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen, Biafra, oduduwa, etc all tend to come up under civilian administrations. Military governments tend to nip such insurgency in the bud before it even takes root. Remember General Sisi took over in Egypt to stop islamisation of Egypt by Morsi. Another positives about military administration is that they tend to be more effective in building infrastructures. If you compare infrastructures built by military to those built by civilians, you will agree that military actually build infrastructures - roads, bridges, airports, etc., better, faster and more cost effective. Compare the Lagos International Airport built by Obasanjo/Murtala and Abuja Airport built by subsequent civilian administrations since 1999. They are world apart. The military built 4 refineries, the civilians have not been able to build one. Same for major express roads and bridges. |

if you already think aliens exist, why ask these 2 questions?
