Today marks the second year World Braille Day would be celebrated globally to draw attention to the plight of the blind in every society in the world and to show that blindness or partial blindness is surmountable and the blind can achieve any vision in life. The United Nations General Assembly, on December 17, 2018, passed a resolution to pick January 4 every year beginning from 2019 as the World Braille Day. The UN identified Braille as a language tool that enables multilingualism, meaning that it is a ‘language’ used by those blind or partially blind. Braille is a tactile representation of alphabetic and numerical symbols using six dots to represent each letter and number, and even musical, mathematical and scientific symbols. Braille (named after its inventor in 19th century France, Louis Braille) is used by blind and partially sighted people to read the same books and periodicals as those printed in a visual font, (UN website) The commemoration of World Braille Day is meant to draw attention to persons who are visually impaired partially or fully and to remind the society that the lose or partial lose of a person’s eyesight is not a death sentence neither it a life sentence to poverty especially as noticed in developing countries. Governments and individuals are reminded that the blind can achieve 100 percent of whatever any person with eyesight can achieve if they have access to Braille. Braille is its own language which includes the blind or partially sighted individuals in taking decisions about their present and future. It has enabled many blind persons to attain to positions of national and international standings in different vocations. More NGOs, individuals and governments need to invest in the provision of Braille facility for the blind in Nigeria as this will go a long way to boost the self-esteem as well as the lifestyle of those who need it. The provision of Braille to those in dire need of it will contribute to the development of the society as well as contribute positively to meeting the target of the SDGs by 2030. According to the United Nations “Braille is essential in the context of education, freedom of expression and opinion, as well as social inclusion, as reflected in article 2 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.” |
So, why do Igbos find it easy to build houses in the West and the Yorubas hardly build houses in the East? |
IAmStrange:YOU NEED A BIBLE WITH CONCORDANCE AND COMMENTARY TO HELP YOU. I am an advocate for all Christians to get a Koran and study... My church gave foodstuff to many muslims during the Yuletide...I still remember some- from the North- specifically asking to be prayed for in the name of Jesus because according to them, they know very well that God answers the prayers of Christians. DO WE BEHEAD THE MUSLIMS WHO COME OUT ON CHRISTMAS DAY TO EAT AND DRINK IN THE CHURCH? LEAVE SALAH ALONE JARE! |
Are journalists among the 'minority'(politicians in power)the bill wants to 'protect'? |
I was looking for the gates in Dubai's tollgates...which tells me that the use of gates in Nigeria is quite archaic. I hope those planning to reintroduce tollgates have seen in the ones in Dubai that the people must not suffer before the government generates revenues. |
Where are the feedback stories? Did nobody receive help so far? |

redsun:Of course! An actress raised the alarm few days ago. I was around where a couple, well the wife, was being queried in my presence because her less than 3 year-old girl skin was showing the signs, what she said was that it is an imported cream and moreover she can't watch her daughter getting dark. The couple laughed at the one talking to them for suggesting they use vaseline for their children. |
Are sure are you that they are in jail and not in Dubai enjoying their lives? If a common yahoo could leave Kirikiri to carry out more fraud... |

True reflection of whatever a (wo)man sow that shall s/he reap. This is good. Do not stop doing good, even though some people repay your good with evil. |
ciencee:Thank you too. A mindset like this is a product of lack of depth in God which makes many so-called Christians fickle-minded and unsure of their place in Christ. May God help us all! |

May the dead rest in peace! The Bible tells me LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF... No matter what happens one is useful alive than dead, so one should try to do the little one has the ability to do for family and friends and leave the rest to Baba God! |
GoTV:You need to study Bible characters more to know that God himself said the thoughts of the heart of man is evil always. The fact that those accused or caught in the reprehensible acts have the title of pastor does not change their human nature. They fell to temptations in their weak state...Remember King David? To your comparison with Islam, don't be deceived that Muslims do not engage in this acts also, it is just that they are more 'sensible' about tactically not washing their dirty linens in the public like so-called Christians take pride in doing. More-ever, the fact that there is allowance to marry four wives does not make things like this become news. I can tell you that you would hardly see a Muslim lady coming out to accuse another Muslim lecturer of harassing her even if it happens. No Born again, Holy Ghost-filled Christian who READS & STUDY the BIBLE will ever contemplate leaving Christ for Islam because of news like this or any news whatsoever. If Islam takes over any place including Nigeria, GOD allowed it in order to TEST and BRING out TRUE BELIEVERS/FOLLOWERS of JESUS CHRIST. Let your mind be at peace and pray for those Satan's wiles had caught that they will experience repentance and become stronger. 'Let him that thinketh he stands take heed so that he falls not...' '...if any falls into sin among us, let the others who are strong encourage and restore him in love. GOD/JESUS CHRIST HAS NOT COME TO CONDEMN US NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS! Shalom! |
Truly, I am in need of information on the number of Nigerians working as civil servants in the country, both state and federal. I still find it worrisome that a minority will use their power to clamour for minimum wage every time for those I see as too few compared to the millions under slavish work conditions of some unscrupulous individuals and corporate organizations when that power can be used to clamour for a better Nigeria for all Nigerians. As I pray that God will give us politicians who will see their jobs as a calling to good governance and not for wealth amassment so I pray for wisdom for all those with power to make life better not for themselves only but for those around them. |
Sincerely, is this a solution in any way? How would this put an end to entrenched mindsets that see fellow Africans especially Nigerians as being responsible for their economic and social woes? Was it for reasons of visa extension that the attacks started years ago and happening off and on for years now? May God help the Nigerian masses! |
Oh, so the PMB gave a speech today! Okay...Since I believe in God and He says 'it shall be well with the righteous' it shall be well with righteous Nigeria! |
