Suspect33: Australia? Lol, c'mon bro. The teams on Argentina's side of the wc map are weak when compared to the depth of the Argentina squad, with the exception of Brazil. Is it Japan, Holland, Croatia, or the USA, or even South Korea. Compare these teams to Argentina and tell me it's won't be a ride in the park to the final for Argentina? Who could have thought Saudi Arabia would beat them? Argentina is not that strong, I even rate England above them. Football is not mathematics, those teams were not qualified by luck but by merit. Anything can happen. |

Many dont just read the content but choose to comment on headlines which may not reflect the true content. Obi ticket is Labour party affair, and they have their lay down rules and regulations( party constitution). If his nomination is contrary to that, as non party member (who has been expelled), there will be serious litigation against him or PO before or after election. Politics in Africa is too dirty, and all the politicians are only after their selfish interests. |

meolaniyi: APC and Tinubu sponsored sacking Obi scored an own goal by running under LP instead of APGA. He should have follow the advise of Soludo. Labour party is predominantly a Yoruba party with strong base in Opposition dominated region(SW). It is very easy for Oppositions, especially APC to destabilise the party from within. He should've run under APGA, even if he lose, the recognition would be enough to negotiate power at center or future elections. |

Sagamite: You are a cretinoous fuccktard!
Who is talking about official language?
By saying primary school students should be taught using local language, that means we are changing the official language, reetard? Using mother tongue language in a public school of a country with an official language? Did you even read the main article where it was stated they intend to change the curriculum to suit that? Sagamite, your problems is legendary |

Sagamite: And Nigerian languages are not "acceptable standards" in your colo-head for formal learning.
Now between you Nigerians and the Chinese/Germans/Indians:
1. Who is more productive?
2. Who has more sense of self-worth?
3. Who goes to the other's country and lords over them?
Colomentality is a disease!!! Let me start by saying you lack comprehensive skill. Is this the kind of mentality you will carry to compete with outside world? No one is saying mother tongue language is bad, and should not be adopted, we are only talking about multi- language nature of Nigeria, which made it difficult to chose a particular language as official one. You saw " depending on acceptable standard " in my post, yet you still feel it appropriate to insult me in your illiterate logic. If I may ask, what Language do you think Nigeria can make official? Besides, alot of advance countries made English, Spanish and Dutch their official languages, yet in you narrow mind, you think choosing everything about you make you an advance country. Even if all you against me don't have sense, at least you should all know those countries using their mother tongue languages are mostly mono- ethnics. |

Hotice085: .
The colonial lumped us together and forced English on us, but if you go over to Europe you will hardly get to see a nation with more than 3 languages and if you see the language of communication in any community is the immediate mother tongue of such community
English can be use as must for federal service while each state can make it optional No one force anything on us, it is logical or natural for a multi- ethnic country like Nigeria to pick an official language. Since thre is no ethnic group that commanded at least 70% of entire population, it is better and logical to chose foreign language. |

johnfem321: Remember English language in Nigeria is less than 100 years.. and the first university is less than 65years.. We have been co-existing, trading and communicating for several thousands of years before English came to Nigeria.. may be a bit of history will teach us how we have been communicating and how we can improve on the previous communication used Nigeria starts in 1914, and before then, a few traders dealing with other ethnic groups used interpreters, which was additional cost to the traders. People rarely go outside their ethnic boundaries, therefore don't have much reasons to communicate with outsiders. Besides, English has been using as a mean of communication to various ethnic groups in Nigeria by British about 2 centuries before amalgamation, so it is not new or allien to the country. |

johnfem321: Do understand that English is Not our language and it can never be. English belongs to White people from England, USA Canada etc.. We are african and have our on tribe/ language here in Nigeria.. A Yoruba man can never become an English man, or Irish or welsh.. Same as an English man can never be a Yoruba man.. All other developed and advanced country use their own language to teach, communicate and as an official language.( such as Germany, Japan, china, etc) It’s still a form of colonisation to be using your colonial masters language.. I hope the policy will be extended towards secondary and tertiary institutions as well as work place.. it will be great for our country.. You can't be easily co- existence as multi- ethnic country without using as official language. This is where the idea of using English emanating from. How would you communicate with Effik, Kanuri, Igbo, Hausa, Fulani, Yoruba and many others at the same time? Hope you get the logic now sir. |

cocolacec: How cone the Chinese,Germans,Japanese are not lagging behind in the International scene? If Nigerians compete on International scene, they can use an interpreter like other countries do. A truly free people will be proud of their language not the feeling fly with a colonisers language.
A Swedish official once told the best gift you can give your child is teach them your mother tongue not a foreign Language.
Sweden has a population of 10 million, language spoken are Swedish,Yiddish,Sami,Romani chib.Engkish is the second language but it is not compulsory. Some Swedes learn French,Spanish ,German in place of English.
Swedish as the language of the majority is spoken in all schools from primary to University levels.English courses are offered to foreign students.
Funny enough their English is better than Nigerian English because they employ Americans,British etc and qualified Swedes to teach English By citing those examples, it is obvious you don't consider "multi- ethnics" nature of Nigeria. About 90% of those countries you mentioned spoke common languages or have almost 100% common social life and cultural values. The same can't be say about Nigeria. Besides, there is different between formal and informal education. A wise parent or society teaches their citizens informal education in their mother tongue, while former learning can be carry out in various capacities depending on acceptable standard. And contrary to your opinion, Chinese, Germans, Indians and other non speaking English countries are not better than well fluent English speakers in Nigeria let alone those staying abroad. Kids of these days are very fluent in English because we introduced it to them early especially pupils in private primary schools. Mother tongue as teaching instruction can only work effectively in a Mono- ethnic nation. |

To me, this is not a good policy. A kid will perfectly understand his/her mother tongue language as long as the parent spoke it at home.
English is our official language, failure to introduce it early in the life of young kids will only make them lag behind in future. How do you expect such children to compete with other kids in national and international competitions.
This is a backward educational policy, and I am sure it is because of the North. |

This is white lie, he's not helping the society with such message That is what modern society turn them into. Women naturally depends on men for leadership, they rarely function well without men in their lives. Even among Animals, females generally takes care of young ones, while they needed leadership of males to protect themselves and the young ones. |

immortalcrown: Yes, it really matters. Rigging can't happen without it. If 1000 people rally for a candidate and only 10 later vote for the candidate, the candidate can claim he got 500 votes. But if only 10 rally for the candidate and he or she later claims to get 500 votes, you will ask who and who later voted for the candidate. This is why they pay so much money to get a large number of people at rallies. This is reason I don't discuss politics on Nairaland anymore. Imaging arguing with this one about politics. |
Politics › Re: Does Crowd At Rallies Really Matter? by yemmit90: 9:04pm On Nov 24, 2022 |
Emir01: It matters, it's also part of the game both psychological and capacity to mobilize. It doesn't matter a bit. Infact, it has absolutely nothing to do with performance in real elections. Except party members, all other people at the rallies are just there to catch fun. I've attended so many political rallies during my school days, I don't even go out to vote at election days. So many like that, about 70% went there to see the dignities they normally see on their TVs, the rest went there to see musicians and meet new friends. it is all for fun for people. |

meobizy: Change my mind. That is not a measure to checkmate poverty. Until Africans are able to solves their physiological needs, there will aways be poverty irrespective of the number of children produce in a family. No country can achieve a meaningful socio- economy development without taking her human resources serious. Foods, shelters, and other social amenities should never be a luxury but what every citizen can have in abundance irrespective of their social status. This is secrete of developed countries. Give Local Governments 70% of constitutional power and see Nigeria making tremendous progress within a decade. |

kiako: I'm no longer a teen but a full grown adult. But I grew up not mingling with people.
I realise I have this awkward touch to everything, cos I wasn't that exposed to the street or something like that. But its having its toll on me now.
As an adult I'm expected to start at least easing money especially for people around me. But most times my investments have been online and all that, and if not online, I haven't done any investment. But being online stuff, I've realised I only keep losing money. Even now, I got no one to hold on to.
Now, not that I do not think to have an offline investment, but that awkwardness of being an outside person now fears me. I'm too uses to the house, and partly cos I fear that awkward appearance I do have outside.
My people think I'm lazy, but they don't know the battle I'm on.
Most times, my response to things turn strict, but I don't know how it seems, cos I always get into quarels with people. Last time I had to even be arrested. And since then, its affected my mentality such that I'm now acting unhealthily nice and each time i do, i now feel taken advantage of.
I'm just confused. Go and set up business center at busy area. You will attend to alot of people, and that will automatically solve your problem. |
