Don't mind them people. They don't really care about the story behind it. Very soon this picture will be a subject for chain and spam mails.

People who start blogs with this story only want cheap publicity and don't care about the emotions of people who were involved. How would you feel if these unfortunate pictures had a member of your family in it.

Besides, i thought Nairaland had a policy against duplicated posts. Because i have come across about 5 similar entries already.

Sjeezy or whatever you call your self. There is no reason whatsoever why you should call Riversman a fool. Stop being insultive for once.
I don't support insults too, but mr. riversman had it coming to him.

Why do we have to take ethnic stands with every issue.

People are talking about how much lives and property they lost and he inferred that they did not lose enough to be complaining.

@riversman, i don't think you ever lost anything in your life. That is the only reason you will make a statement like that.

The question we need to ask ourselves is that why are Nigerian people viewed with suspicion wherever we go? No country in the world wants to let two Nigerians into their country at the same time through immigration and why? We can all say rubbish about Zimbabwe but at the end of the day, we Nigerians have a lot to do before we can be trusted by the everage man in the street. We are too corrupt. too fradulent, too greedy for money, too, the list goes on! We must change or be booted out of every country in the world.
I hope you are speaking for yourself!

ziga the african countries actually promote tourism just not to other african countries, their tourism promotion is more directed towards the europeans
I agree, but what i was referring to was that compared to other tourism destinations in the world they may not be doing much. So they are competing with those other countries and the man who makes more noise usually wins.

u can use the unexpired passport for the VISA and even if the passport becomes expired in June, the VISA will still be valid as long as u also have a valid unexpired passport along with the expired passport that has the visa when entering the land of the free and home of the brave. Been there, done that.
They will not issue a new visa on a passport with less than 6 months to date of expiry.

That is the rule with almost every country i heard of.

So, if you don't want to give them a reason for rejecting your visa application, postpone your visa interview until after you have a passport that won't expire in 6 months.
TravelRe: Why Don't Africans Spend Their Holidays More In Africa by ziga: 5:49pm On Feb 28, 2010
@poster

Most Nigerians spend their vacation in Nigeria, some go to abuja, some go to lagos, some go places where they have families within Nigeria.

The few who travel out of the country for vacation do so because they can afford it. And its the same thing for people from other parts of the world that you used as examples. i.e europeans and americans who vacation out of their regions.

As for other african countries you have mentioned, a lot of Nigerians that can afford to go on vacations probably would not go there because its easier to travel to UK or the US for them compared to those countries. Easier in terms of getting a visa and making flight arrangements.

Also, these countries don't promote tourism, so you don't expect people to try to buy from you, what you do not advertise to sell.

If your problem with Governor Fashola is what happens after he leaves office, then i suggest we stop all these pointless distractions and wait for him to leave office.

Babapupa is a big fool, an ignorant, loud mouthed paid agent of Fashola who peddles falsehood and cheap propaganda on Lagos.

For his information, most previous Governors of Lagos did better than Fashola and left legacies behind. Jakande did wonders in education, housing and road development. Mudashiru built medium income houses and modern schools, Marwa and Oyinlola developed many new estates, built roads, schools and health facilities. Tinubu built many new roads, introduced the waste management system, the BRT, modernnise health and educational facilities etc.

Despite all past efforts and Fashola's so called good performance, Lagos is still a big slum, crowded, congested, dirty and crime ridden.

Fashola has even created more problems: Displaced thousands of traders without providing alternatives, rendered many jobless and in penury through its LASAA agency that has driven many in the advertising industry into poverty. He has introduced double taxation in new 5% hotel tax thereby putting restaurants and hotels in dire straits and throwing thousands out of jobs.

Upon all these and more, he is busy throwing N250M to NBA, dashing N200million to face of africa, wasting our taxes on Elizabeth to plant flowers and xmas decoration, wasting tax payers money in buying sunborne yatch etc

Overall, Fashola is a thieving Governor who learnt the act of stealing from his boss Tinubu using the same front-Tunji Olowolafe that Tinubu used.
Please Mr. I'm sure it is easy for you to sit behind your computer and spew bulls.hit. Why don't you go out on the streets of Lagos and say the things you just typed. I doubt you will return to your house in one peace.

It is easy to sit down in front of a computer and type anonymous bulls.hit, but the truth is the truth and the people know it.

@ Ziga, thanks Old Man, but i don't remember castigating Fashola in my post, as eairlier stated most problems bedeviling Lagos precede Fashola's Governnent, all i'm saying as a political office holder he shouldn't be afraid of criticism and should be subject to accountability checks which they (Politicians) always preach.
Then i guess we saying the same thing.
PoliticsRe: The Cries Of A Fed Up Lagosian by ziga: 8:18am On Feb 27, 2010

Most posts on this tread show how shallow most of people are. @Tpia, babapupa and co, u guyz are just plain dumb. Asking for accountability is within anyone right. and just because u feel Fashola is a performing Governor doesn't make him unaccountable/above the law. Because no one asked his predecessor for accountability doesn't mean it cant start one day.
In Rivers State, i (most people) have Gov. Ameachi's statement of account for each year ending (25th October) which shows what the state generated (fed. allocation/IGR/13% deriavation) and how each ministry spent their allocation (names of every contractor/amount contract was awarded). Though i personally questioned the rationale behind some unnecessary expenses (like using 8 billion naira for carnival) but the only reason i could do that was because i had the statement of account. Ameachi is currently on tour of all the LGAs in Rivers state and each LG Chairman  has done the same (furnishing everyone with a statement  of accout.) it is within every citizen right to know how thier fund are been spent. If it were Ameachi who is been accused, he would have faced his accusers in the open and would have come out on top at the end of the day.
Most of the problem bedeviling Lagos predates Fashola and therefore cannot really be said to be his making coupled with an uncooperative FG.
Most of you shouting “Eko o ni baje“ i have met your types, my roommate in the university who came back to do Bsc (cos he had H.ND) back then said he spent his first 30+ years in Lagos, d only tyme he managed to leave Lagos was for NYSC, only then was he been able to truly appreciate life and stopped believing that Lagos was all and all. Thoug a Lagos indigen has refused to go back (since 99) and remained in Rivers State ever since.
While serving most corpers from Lagos state admitted that it was thier first time of leaving Lagos/environs. The reason i am commenting on this tread (thoug i had seen it eairlier) is coz i met a friend that we all served in Rivers state who has been here ever since working with First Bank, also a Lagos indigen said he had on two occasion rejected transfer to Lagos refering to its dirtyness and always in arush attitude. i suggests most of y'all travel arround a little bit and get to compare and contrast.
I have personally rejected any thing/work that will keep me in Lagos for more than a week.
Watch your language young man!!!

On the contrary, most people who have been posting, have an unexplained beef with Lagos and have been judgmental without even trying to analyze the facts.

The face that you don't like Lagos does not make the Governor of Lagos state a thief.

Just put yourself in the man's shoes, and truthfully ask yourself, what would i have done?

There you go blaming the North again. I suppose obasanjo is a Northerner, did he not try for third term? Its not about North or South, its about power. Power is like a very strong alchoholic beverage or a gorgeous babe, it gets one drunk. Turai and members of the kitchen cabinet do not represent a majority of Northerners, so stop using recent events as an excuse to bash Northerners.
Tell them ooo. Mr ndu_chuks. If we keep thinking with small minds, we will never get out of this mess.

We divide ourselves, fight ourselves and blame ourselves for crimes commited by a few people who represent every geopolitical zone in the country.

@Do they think Nigeria is a small country that they can walk away from?

what there needs to be is southern unity of somesort(ss+se+sw). But I mean they should call out their own southsouth people within the cabal and all the senators/govs in the southsouth that voted against Jonathan being acting president.

its easy to say yea "we the southsouth want to leave" without mentioning the antijonathan south south people like Ibori, Sylva+ others who collaborating and within the cabal.
You have correctly stated Nigeria's problem. It has nothing to do with north vs south or SW vs SE vs SS or biafra vs NE etc like a lot of people make it seem.

Every region has representatives in the corrupt government that have looted and are milking us dry.

We need to call our representatives to order and quit all the division talk. it will not solve nothing.

hello doc. I have a problem dat just started abt a week bck. The thing is i have recently started goin round without coverin my neck and also started usin a new brand of cleanser and i notice that not only is my neck n face getin darker, which i fink mite be due to d harsh sun, my neck sweats mre dan it ever did. I work in a shop where d heat level is high, so am nt sure if dt is d cause. I used to get comments abt nt being a heavy sweater(nt sure if dat is even a word) bt nw i sweat so badly. I would be very grateful for any assistant given. Thx
Some of these facial cleansers have side effects that include sensitivity in sunlight. So, if your reaction is severe, i would suggest you stop using that cleanser.

Sweating is a natural way the body uses to cool a hot temperature, so, if sweating on your forehead is the only complaint, then i would prescribe a nice, soft handkerchief of face towel for you to wipe that sweat!!!

Heloo ziga
Thanks for your fast response but the sweating on the forehead is a new thing to me. I have not changed location in about 4years
All i'm trying to say is that sweating alone by itself does not point to any disease process. So is there anything besides the sweating that gives you concern? That might be more helpful.

Depending on your age, maybe you need a routine general medical checkup. A lot of people take that for granted.

That way, you see a doctor who will ask lots of questions, examine you and he may notice things that you take for granted. Common diseases depending on your age maybe also screened for.

By the way have you gained extra weight recently? You know you need to keep a healthy body weight, eat a healthy diet and exercise as much as possible.
