It doesn't have to be an issue of car theft. It is an issue of deceiving potential buyer.

In my original post, I said deception using such is not good.

i get you but i think to say to UPGRADE is the wrong WORD if the intended purpose is to decieve, when one says i upgraded it means there is a documentation of what it used to be, eg i upgrade it from 2 litre engine to 3.5 litre its something you can talk about freely

Whereas what i think as the right word is MODIFIED/REBUILT to look like what it is not (TEMPERED WITH), be it for the right reasons or to decieve

Then we have swap of VINs or duplicate of VINs aka CLONING (having two cars of the same make and model having the same VIN ) this is sually from very organised crime for high valued cars

its not even deception but fraud, which most likely the new VIN is from a stolen car, or the car being put the a different VIN is stolen

yes it happens but the law is VIN numbers cant be switched around

A facelift requires front bumper and headlights to be changed and at times, fenders and bonnet are needed to be changed in the process. With a facelift, the year of the car remains the same, but it will be different from its counterpart. A facelift is not always cheap as some people think.

While an upgrade requires so many things to be changed to match that of the year. Some elements go as far as changing or manoeuvring the VIN sticker to be that of the year.

For example, a Toyota highlander 2008 could be upgraded to that of 2012, and one won't know. In conclusion, a facelift and an upgrade are okay but using the upgrade to deceive people is not good.

A VIN number never gets changed from the birth of the car till its crushed or let to rust

Remember i can eg modify my an Audi R8 to look like a Lamborghini but my VIN will tell that i am an Audi R8 inside, meaning a car vin cant be changed, becoz it IDs the manufacturer, production date, place of manufacturer etc. its like your birth certificate, you can change your name, ( aka the car's body) but you can never change the place your where born or where you birth certificate was registered, eg as zimbabwean by birth and british by nationality it doesnt mean my birth certificate as changed to be british NO it still remains zimbabwean though an now british

then the example you gave that depends with individual countries car registration systems eg in uk your car NUMBER PLATE nearly correspond with manufacturer year VIN number eg a manufactured 2016, its number plate can be either GH16 RTY or GH66 RTY (thats 16/66 identifys 2016 ) thats 2016 thats when the car was registered into the country's car regististration system which is a close date by 6 months to the actual productation of the car, so that car can never have a number plate with shows it as 2017 and upwards

in Uk if right now i import a Japanese car with of VIN number production of 2001 then number plate of my car wont be eg "GH20 RTY" becoz that 20 represent 1st registered(which correspond close to manufacturer date therefore my registration would be GH01 RTY (01 correspond with VIN manufacturer dates )

So in simple terms there is a different between manfuctarer dates and registration of car into the countries system so UK tries to make those dates close to each other therefore number plates can ID which year production is your car

then with example you gave 2012 identify when the car was resgistered into the countrys vehicle system but it doesnt mean thats the year the car was manufactured NO but the VIN number will do the rest if you want to know when the car was manufactured

there are certains things that one can not diagnose via internet, your car need a physical inspection being on ramps or driving it figuring where the sound is coming from

remember its a 4 stage process

1st drive until the car reaches operating temperature aka 90 degree (middle point of the temperature gauage )

2 Switch off the car and pour the engine flush

3 Start the car and let it idle between 10-15 minutes "DONT NOT DRIVE OR REV"

4 Switch off the car and drain the oil and put fresh oil

I bought a Honda Accord 2004 just last month and serviced with Total quartz 5000 (20w50) exactly what the previous owner uses.

The recommended oil is 5w20 as inscribed on the cap.

Question: is it possible I ask my Kazeem to uncouple the engine, drain/flush the engine with whatsoever substance, recouple and then fill with the recommended engine oil please?

He's also not sure of the brand of transmission oil used as at last fill, what do I do if I need refill?

what do you mean by UNCOUPLE ? do you mean to remove the engine from the body ? and that job for oil change ? thats crazy

all that needed is to drive the car till its on operating temperature which is 90 degrees or middle point on the temp gauge, then pour engine flush let it idle to 15mins then drain and put new oil

thats sounds like water is messing about with your electrical circuit, you need to check for electrical wires that look not Insulated were water can go easyly

its not straight as open and close loop as you think, there are many variables, that can trigger to ECU to trim or add fuel, eg RPMS, throttle position, etc

there's a lot speculation about coolant temperature sensor sending signal to CPU , CPU commands the air/fuel sensor to minimize air/fuel ratio sent to the injectors to spray less fuel(close loop) or else keep running rich (open loop) and also the O2 sensor in the exust monitoring excess oxygen in the exust so that the air/fuel sensor to keep minimizing air ratio at different times during higher reving and idle for a better fuel consumption or economy, it all starts up with themostat regulating engine temperature to 100 degree

I know engine oil performance is one of the reasons why 100 degree engine temperature is needed , but when using unrecommended engine oil weight like 20w50 instead of 5w30, 20w is ok for Nigeria climate at startup then 100 degree at full warm up will make the oil 50w too thick and course internal issues which means this case 100 degree temperature is not needed and can bee avoided by removing the themostat with a 50/50 coolant and distilled water so that it hardly reach 60 degree then oil weight may flow like 30w or 35w instead of 50w, as a short cut

my question is

1) does open loop and close fuel regulations really exist?

2) if yes , must the coolant temperature reach 100 degree to activate the close loop operation (less fuel) ? (as to avoid the issues of flooding the celinder with excess fuel which may course excess carbon deposit , engine oil contamination and catalyst converter damages) if themostat is bypassed

You are mixing up things

1 at cold temperature eg in the morning lets say at idle the rev goes up a bit (add more fuel) this to make the engine reach operating temperature very quickly so yes the temperature sensor send signal to ECU to calculate how much to fuel to add but i wouldnt say its an open and close loop because its constantly monitored and changing based on other monitoring sensors

2 the 90-100 degrees doesnt activate your (open loop) the 90 degrees is the best operating temperature for a car which gives you the best performance and efficiency from both fuel per mpgs to also best effective oil temperature though new oil nowadays are multiple grades which at low temperature and high temperature it still give you the same protection

Running your car at below 80 degrees (removing thermostat) thats where you increase carbon deposit as the fuel is being burnt below the most effective operating temperature which is 90 degrees, as along the ECU is getting engine temperature reading that is below 80 degrees the ECU will increase the air fuel ration because it should get back a 90 degrees signal from the temperature sensor therefore you damage you catalystic converter very quickly

So if the engine operating temperature reaches 90 degrees, the ECU will trim the ration becoz the operating temperature has been reached, all people who driving their cars with no thermostat are actuall running rich and the ECU is adding more fuel to help in increasing the temperature to its operating temperature of which it will never happen becoz the coolant is not being allowed to reach 90 degrees becoz its being constantly being cooled

crankshaft code you need to find out whether is it faulty sensor or especially on timing that uses a chain, the chain tends to become loose therefore your timing jumps a bit and here and there the car will have issues to start or cut off

so i suggest get the car start easily and not cut then from there you then look into the misfire

sort that 1st becoz with eg a crankshaft faulty sensor your car will have problems with starting or it wont start at all

get the car running 1st then look into the misfire issues i think one or two codes are just being triggered by remving the battery

You thing the dealer will refund you your money easily, better fix the issue to avoid stress and waste of time and make the story short.

no one said there is NO competent mechanics

i suggested what i thought is simple way, in my own understanding, we only differ in option which ok thats part of life

but

even if it was Gazzuzz or Kingreign that had sold that car as reputable mechanic he would offer to fix the car not for free but for his business reputation

its car dealer we are talking about therefore reputation and customer care play alot unless its that thing "THIS NIGERIAN"

if you can not take the car back to dealer to be fixed or seek help in fixing then what does that say to the dealer ? and how much faith will you have in that car that got sold to you ? come sense should kick in

in such situation i rather deal with the dealer, why would S/he steal or swap things from the car s/he sold to me ? if the dealer is that dodgy then it makes sense to take back to them and get your money back

If you are a dealer a good customer service is required, of cause every transaction can have a different warranty but your reputation as dealer should be clean, dont confuse a private sale eg you and me, where i can screw you over but a good dealer should help but that depends with the sales agreement

Have you ever noticed that if you take a problem car to one mechanic after the other, if that chain of mechanics can not fix the problem, each mechanic blames the mechanic before him/her

Practically, flashing/blinking check engine light doesn't mean it must be engine misfire issue, as far as Peugeot Injection systems are concerned.

I have diagnosed and repaired Nigerian used Peugeot vehicles with severe abused engine wiring harnesses that had their check engine lights blinking constantly, which had nothing to do with engine misfire.

I have diagnosed and fixed Peugeot vehicles with blinking CELs that had nothing to do with engine misfire, but sometimes an indication of some stored faults in Injection ECUs needing attention or even when something is wrong the ECU itself.

Yes, a misfire on one or more cylinders usually blink the check engine lights (one of the symptoms), but doesn't mean every CEL blinking symptom is caused by engine misfire on Peugeot Injection/ignition systems.

People who rely or based their knowledge on online opinions when it comes to Solutions to car issues are disconnected from practical solutions and reality. Information passed online on cars are mostly generalisation using one or two opinions as a standard, while the rest are just repetition of what others said.

whereas the like of me i am mechanic i dont read problems and solution on google but cars come to our garage we diagnose and fix or pass on to other trades men things like testing ECUs

2 check engine flashing is not a misfire, its a sign to say a fault has been detected and ECU has been kept in memory, a scan should be done to read the code which as has been recorded by the ECU aka brainbox

For problem 1. It means you were driving your car with a serious misfire before the accident. Probably from the coils. I'm sure you do not know the part they call airflow meter. Go and scan that car.
Problem number 2. You drive a Honda. Honda is very sensitive to choice of transmission fluid. What did you put there. Hope not abro or seahorse. Get it scanned.
Problem 3. Idle may the low. There may be a vacuum leak. Scan the car
Problem 4. By brake light, you mean brake symbol on instrument cluster? Make sure ur hand brake is fully released. Take this car to a proper technician. You are killing it already.

where did you pick up a misfire from his post ?
