I feel you are experiencing a sense of a lost future like you stated about the dream of living large and all that; but brother if you put things in perspective you'd realize that you have not really lost it a bit; true your unborn child, not just pregnancy may prove to be added responsibility and consequently a kinda load for you based on your present circumstances but then facing up to the consequences of your choices is a prove of true manliness, of true humanity, abortion is isn't, aside from the fact that it is cold-blooded murder of an innocent human being!

Since you love her why not go ahead and be there for her and now i think is time you begin to get a bit more close to God to and resolve to rely much more on him than ever before i bet you He is interested in seeing you through. Cheers!

But must they all fly to 30 countries and return to their churh on sunday? the question is at whose expense? the needy congregation who are made to drop a tenth of their barely enough wages under the guise of obeying the law of God, remember as Christ said the Sabath was made for man and not he other way round.

If i use Jesus Himself as an example you would tell he became poor that we may be rich, how about Paul? why did he not get a private ship so that he could be in capadocia and cyprus without missing his sermon in his "local parish"?

poverrty like disease is an event which humanity must try to replace with prosperity, but prosperity of the men of God must not be at the expense of their members!

RomanceRe: Breaking Up For A Good Reason by 49cents(m): 3:36am On Nov 17, 2009
my lil contribution.

I think the whole problem lies within us;

we must deal with the issue of objectively  singling out what are the most important traits we want in a spouse, and they must start from the psychological to the social, fom the interior to the exterior. i.e what you FEEL first than to want people MAY THINK or how they'll see you AND content (character) before container (physique)

most times people with "high" standards,  for example the guys, they look for a girl they can show off to the whole world (even though some deny it even to themselves) they let this bias their judgments.

There is a difference between what is valuable in LIFE  to what is valuable in YOUR life.

We have to make the effort to find out the latter cos they will stand the test of time while the former is a function of many things like: how young you think you still are, your paycheck, your friends, in a word, factors that change over time.

The ultimate question is:  our priorities in a partner, how orderly are they? until we ascertain this we'll just end up missing the right people, wasting irretrievable time and regretting for wrong choices made.

THE END

yeah we are bad losers!

Football is a game and we'll remain only a game. it is not a do or die affair.
I really wanted us to win and carry the day but then we win some and loose some.
What we should be thinking about is about is raising our game e.g raising a team with sound technical discipline; stopping age cheats etc it is not just about winning all of the time.
the swiss were more disciplined almost everywhere and deserved to win.

Lastly can someone very familiar with Facebook polls start a campaign about not using Amodu for even the African Nations Cup, he is just not up to it.

TV/MoviesRe: Aroma Ufodike Wins N10m Ultimate Prize In Mtn Who Want's To Be A Millionaire by 49cents(m): 8:44pm On Sep 16, 2009
I smell a rat as big as the corporate giant MTN as per the guy winning 10million bucks straight in one game show; i missed the friday broadcast but fueled my gen to catch the repeat  on sunday night my expectations to see a hard fought contest was dashed; like in The Lord Of the Rings where The Ring wanted to be found MTN wanted someone to go all the way to win 10million, EARLY IN THE SEASON SIX , with the logical reason to boost dials to 132 or playing the online game version like Aroma did to get on the show ,

In retrospect i see the following ,

fastest fingers fast was not about really about who was fastest as the question that should be about speed was about thw knowledge of geography "coincidentally" Aroma's said he read the geography as a forst degree, everybody failed the question save for one guy who came pretty distant second!

The first 6 questions were simple and straightforward you dont have to to have trotted the globe to answer you will agree; in the past if you remember many have been forced to use "reasonably" UP TO  TWO lifelines because the question were  not that general and cheap .
With this stage of 6 questions, MTN wanted to sell to us that the questions are too cheap that you dont need to read much to win N120K without even using a lifeline!

1) Which of these is a name of a club in England.
Ans; Blackburn Rovers

2) An establishment where money can be deposited is called
Ans; Bank

3) Which of these is a name given to a boy born on Sunday in Ghanaian tribe
a) Bassey b) Kwesi c) Abiodun d) Ejima

4) Which of the following refers to d word fire
a) Inferno b) Domino c) Scendo d) Tornado

5) According to d constitution, a public officer is not allow to do ant of these in d line of duty
a) Marry a wife b) Bury a dead body c) go to the church for thanksgiving d) Accept bribe or gift

6) The process by which genetic traits are transmitted from parents to offspring is called what
a) Tenancity b) Verification c) Heredity d) Vacidation

The next two questions were tailored to suit the Aroma's  background as being well travelled, a logical reason why he CAN answer the questions! MTN is telling us that your hobbies can come in handy thus reinforcing the belief that you can progress to N500K. Frank highlights this by actually talking about Aroma's background of being travelled at this point.

7) Roland Garros stadium is in which city
a) Paris b) Copenhagen c) New York d) Madrid

Where is Tienanmen Square
a) Mumbai b) Beijing c) Rio De Jeneiro d) Soweto

The next tells us that even along the way should you not know the answer or if not sure dont despair you "idea"  sonic sounds like SOUND and super suggests GREATER. Frank stresses this when he asked Aroma how he got to his choice of answer.

9) The word supersonic denotes which of these
a) A speed equal to that of sound b) A speed grater to that of sound c) A speed equal to that light d) A speed greater than that of light

This is a very cheap question as it is JSS Integerated science with very not to misleading options; MTN says here: you dont have to be a Prof to be on this Hot seat!
10) Which of these hold bones together at joints in the body
a) Nephrons b) Nerves c) Ligaments d) Stitches

Here coincidence can bail you out: as in Aroma's case Linus Mbah lives the next floor to Aroma!11) Linus Mbah achieved fame in Nigerian sporting circles at what
a) Swimmer b) Refree c) Football fan d) Judoka

Your ability to simply visualise again what you see even on TV  can double your winning, just like that!

12) DAX refers to the stock market of which country
a) France b) USA c) Germany d) India

13) Who won academy award for directing the movie"million dollar baby"
a) Clint Eastwood b) Oliver Stone c) Peter Jackson d) Morgan Freeman

A general Entertainment question! What about those crazy questions MTN asked Aroma's "predecessors" which i felt was very unfair.  In the past MTN would put this question like this:

In what year did Clint Eastwood win the Academy Award for directing the movie "million dollar baby"
a) 2001 b) 2002 c) 2003 d) 2004.
even though you knew about "Million dollar baby" and Clint Eastwood you wont be too sure of the year, and you will forced to walk out "reasonably".  Mind you the film they would ask would be like a fiilm made in the 1950's.

14) In which country is the Galeras volcano
a) Lebanon b) Columbia c) Japan d) Eritea

(he uses 2 lifelines (ask d audience and 50/50) on this 5million Naira question. Were you Aroma would you trust whatever the audience? well let's say he just wanted to use the untouched lifelines and hear what the audience had to say; again he would use "idea" on this one as he said it sounded more Columbian than lebanese, japanese or eritrean.

15) Professor Maathai Wangari won the Nobel price for which of these
a) Literature b) Economics c) Peace d) Medicinehe uses his last lifeline to call his cousin Lutana a brain boxer like him

I DONT KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION MY ELDER SISTER KNOWS IT.
AROMA TOO DOES NOT KNOW THE ANSWER.  FOR THE FIRST TIME HE ADMITS IT .
HERE MTN WANT TO MAKE IT REAL AND DRAMATOIC,
AROMA CALLS A FRIEND WHO 15 SECONDS INTO THE 30 SECONDS LIMIT HE HAS TO LIMIT ANSWEWR THE QUESTION AND SAY HOW SURE HE IS:
FRANK BADGES IN ASKS AROMA'S FRIEND HIMSELF AND AROMA'S FRIEND SAID THE ANSWER: PEACE, WITHOIUT TELLING HOW SURE HE! T
HIS IS A 10 MILLION NAIRA QUESTIONS
;
AROMA ACCPETS IT AND WINS 10 MILLION!
AROMA'S LIVES HAPPILY EVER AFTER JUNKETING THE PLANET!
WE ALL START, CONTINUE DIALING 132 AND PLAYING THE ONLINE SHOW AS AROMA DID

PEOPLE IF YOU WERE IN AROMA'S SEAT WOULD YOU REALLY RISK A 4.75MILLION BUCKS IN SECONDS?;
WOULDN'T YOU "REASONABLY" WALK AWAY?;
AROMA DID NOT, EVEN THOUGH HE DID NOT HEAR FROM HIS FRIEND HOW SURE HE WAS OF THE ANSWER!

Nick is extarordinary! though almost swagga-less, sure he will loosen up with more time (he was worse at the audition i mean swaga-wise).

Tomiwa is good but not that fantastic, even suspect the judge are "respecting" (the female judge actually called him Mr. Tominwa last week) as he in turn "respects " himself by paying attention to all the judges are always pointing at.

Mike's good but overtly ambitious, he saved David when he could have saved a more deserving Anis, whom he percieve was more of a threat than the dorcar-ish david, but i still like him somewhat.

I would like Nick to win, he is bound to do Africa proud world wide with well written songs, Mike can drag 2nd with Mr. Tominwa, Madonna can struggle for 4th with samantha!

As for deniece, Mike tried saving her but the David he saved previously was saved at her expense. Mike had you saved anis when you had the chance rather David perhaps your beux would still be around kpele!

a deep muse, for many a nairalanders. happy are those who think these things over before taking the plunge!

But then we must note that we start loving even God selfishly for our own reason, what we want from Him or what we want Him to do for us.

But further on we discover that Him for what He really and then our intentions is purified, it is not wrong to love for someone else for what we may gain, the simple reason is that we are only loving ourselves, wanting something good for ourselves, and Jesus spoke of loving ones neighbour as thyself! Once self love is regulated in our relationships then all is well.

Love on the brt, it is mostly likely that you are fantasizing, but just in case you aren't, then try this:

pretend as though you did not ask her out; chat with her with all sincerity, next you meet on the BRT, on myriad of issues, just let your mind be platonic by forgetting about her light skin, booty, by this, your mind will be able to "discover" her and she will naturally discover yours.

A chemistry will be forged, by this time you will be willing to let go completely of the natural attraction, your selflessness will make you discover and savour the pleasure of being ONLY a friend and having a FRIEND- this is the bedrock for a life-long relationship if it were destined.

just want you to stop disregarding the power of REASON God gave you cos to use to

discover Him.

Before i even believed in Jesus Chrsit as the Person God sent amongst others like

Mohammed, Bhudda, etc i had to apply reason becos at a point in my search for

TRUTH that was worth living all my days on earth; being "BORN" a CATHOLIC was

barely enough.

The historical fact that Jesus was the only "messenger" of God whose birth was

pre-announced proved that it: God knew that the humans He created would consent

resonably if there was a pre-information of His "messenger's" coming and even to

his place of Birth, and his fate as the Suffering servant. In this light Mohammed

was simply a claimant as Bhudda, there was no valid reason not to continue to

believe in Jesus as another claimant of coming from God.

I would later use REASON to verify issues like whether Scriptures as interpreted

by me was sufficient alone, Did Christ intend a Church where the Fulness of His

revelation to Mnakind would be taught infallibly?; what where the marks if it existed,

All this happened 4 years into my "conversion" experience: that sudden feeling

of kowing God and wanting others to know Him too, of wanting to read the Bible

from begining to end in obe day, and everybody calling you Pastor, Broh or

Fada, looking back i call it Honeymoon, God lured me with highs just to turn

my attention to Him only to leave me Really find Him again with my Reason and love

Him with my will not emotional highs.

I dont claim credit for my conversion i feel humbled by it as oin my case i found

Him whom i was not originally seeking, and boy am i happy and feel the freedom

of the Children of God not of the will of flesh but by God For instance every morning

i wake up and know that it is unreasonable for a young person like myself

to live Chastity till i get wedded in such a permisive society like ours so i ask

that i may recieve grace from God whom i find resonable to believe in.

I get your drift on this thread and i know that like many others you dont REALLY

and TRULLY hate the Catholic Church but what you believe to be the cathalic church
God bless thee

You are really burning out your energy owing to your closed-mindedness to what the real issues are; where you ministering love to those who need it you would bring more Pele to Jesus than now.

People who argue especially without objectivity are seldom doers , remember empty barrels make the loudest noise!

Christianity EtcRe: Idol Worship In The Roman Catholic Church by 49cents(m): 3:15pm On Jul 14, 2009
@BABYOF

From my many conversations with non-catholics they percieve The Catholic Fiath as being trully iincapable of transforming one
spiritually, somewhat i concur that it is not easy to find a Catholic living a Christain lifestyle but this is the case with NON
CATHOLIC CHRISTIANS also if you want to be brutally sincere: the zeal for Christain lifestyles is waning
i think what is more important for us is to become the very members of Christ i.e His Eyes of Compassion, Limbs of Service, His
Heart of Love, this is the only language that even Non christains will understand it is the language that Christ spoke even when he
was suspended on th e Cross by 3 big, blunt nails rather arguing over doctrinal issues.
But for the sake of voicing my experience as a Catholic by CHOICE.

Worship is a thing of the heart just as prayer is, it is in the spirit not on the lips. When my Yoruba brother prostrates before his
dad in the morning to greet he is only expressing a certain respect for his dad who deserves being his father, it would be wrong to
equate the bodily act of prostration to another human being aa Idolatary, which is simpy giving a person or spirit (physical or
non-physical) the respect due to God alone as the Creator and Sustainer of lIfe to life forms.

Worship, technically speaking is about expressing respect. The purpose of representations of , lets start with Jesus, is just to
readily recall Jesus, to glance at Him whom we love and revere, just as any human being who has loved ones would put their
pictures where they can see it always and kiss it tenderly even press unto their chest this gestures to an extents satiates the
desires which we want to express to the loved one where he/she physically present. It is a thing that is human in origin and very
okay when the emotions expressed are licit and proper.

Because Jesus is not only my Sweet Lover but my Divine Lord and Master my emotions towards Him extends to worship (the
respect due Him as the Living Word of God made flesh). I am not only satisfied with conceding His Lordship over my life in the
deepest recesses of my poor heart i am naturally moved to express it by marks of respcet like bowing, prosatration, kneeling as His Apostles actually did like after He calmed the storm. I cant for Heaven where i will see Him face to Face i wanna start now.

The picture or statue of Jesus is NOT Jesus in a cement/plastic form just a representation which has the potential of aiding my
relationship via the senses which i have. I treat it with affection and respect just as i ould not let my mum's picture lying on the
floor for less that a second.

When God spoke about not making images and worshipping them He simply meant Idolatary, which we see in traditional worship as we have it in Nigerian cultures. The same God will have Images made for His Temple see Deuteronomy where He dictated to Moses howe he Lord's temple should be.

Lets leave the Blessed Virgin Mary, The Monstrance fetc for another thread.
Music/RadioRe: Reuben Abati Vs Banky W: A Must Read! by 49cents(m): 4:58pm On Jun 26, 2009
Two wrongs will never make a right! NEVER!

I am an avid reader of Abati's weekly columns though i enjoy his style of writing but i disagree with how he forces HIS opinions as though they are law. He can sound like a Saint waiting to be canonised (wheras actual saints talk like human beings who understand the very weakness of being human) I think this tendency has unfortunately put him in bad light in his article.

I agree with Banky W's beautiful and tacit reply, but still i admit that, despite Abati's obvious errors, he has some truths here and there.

To accuse the young generation of depravity as though we started or they did not exist in his own time is most unfortunate for man who i believe is deep and has sound grasp socialolgical issue.

The lewd lyrics he is screaming blue murder only developed from his generation, I am sure his elders would have complained about how bad his generation was.

THE FACT IS THAT what we all need to do is to admit this problem and work on stemming it.
We should be careful not to endorse depravity in our generation because Abati's careless and ignorant condemnation of an entire generation as the authour of a wayward and dissident culture.

We should ignore him and create positve change wherever we find ourselves. That's about the most we can do in our quest for human fulfilment.
