The only advise I can give is that you go with a competent mechanic to check both out.
Both are good cars. Of course, the know how to fix the camry abound. Not so much for the e320. Buy what you like. And if you buy a lemon, you learn a thing or two from it for your next car adventure.
A car is meant to take you from a to b in comfort and send you back to your village with empty pocket. Have this in mind when buying.

You've used the car for 3 years in factory state without issues, why do you now want to create issues.
Change the radiator to whatever cell you want. It's duty is just to take heat away.
Retain the fan and thermostat setup the way it is. Ensure you use the recommended coolant instead of water.

You are getting what no other mechanism will touch. A quote of 6 hour work on a Range Rover will surprisingly turn to 18 hours by the time you start undoing the damage already inflicted on it. Same with ford.
And as soon as you fix one, they tell the others that there is one shop like in Kelli that can take their sorrows away.
Then boom, they start pouring in. Keep up the good work.

Met an engine we took a hard pass on. Felt bad for customer. Borrowed vehicle from friend for a week and just his luck valve broke in engine! Taking it apart it was obvious it wasn't his fault so advised him not to take it upon himself to repair it and try to get owner to bear some, if not all of the cost. There second and third pictures were after the tech had already removed some sludge trying to see.

If you're curious, it was a Ford edge... The 6th one this week...

None that know of. It's just a Honda underneath those styling. Tuned differently and with slightly different awd setup. The j37 engine in the mdx is a replica of the j35 in Honda. Transmission is similar as well. So joining a Honda thread is same. The number of mdx owners is not big enough to have followership if someone creates a group on Nairaland.

Thanks for this review. I just love MDX but I don't want to start working on the engine the same way I did with my Chevrolet. I need to go Ladipu or Ojuelegba before I can get major parts. I have ring my Chevrolet engine and I must confess the car isn't properly build at all.

I need a car that engine and gear will not be a problem. The suspension is also very important as well. I just need a car that I won't have to work on the engine or transmission.

My friend bought Toyota Highlander and it has a gear problem. He was pre-inform. We almost rejected it but the mechanic that followed us said that my guy can fix it with 90k. We ended up spending 150k plus to fix the gear and the highlander is working fine now. No issue again and my guy is enjoying it. Highlander does have problem but I don't want the one you need to go to a mechanic every time to work on engine except service.

Like I said, the engine on the mdx is bullet proof. It was well made. I give that to Honda. The 2010 and up model engines burn oil a bit. But other than that, you are okay.
Service engine and transmission when due and you are fine.
Changing the belt when due is no biggie. It's same as the regular 6 cylinder engines that most mechanical do daily.
Use recommended fluids and you will be fine.

It's fairly normal. They hunt gears. They try to stay in higher gears as much as possible in favour of fuel economy. If you can't find the update, don't bother yourself. It's normal

Possible. Been there. Drove my Skoda Octavia tdi from ph to Lagos (Ajao estate), then to Iyana itire on 33 liters.
Fueled up at Iyana itire and brimmed out the tank with 33 liters.
If I had not filled up at iyana itire, I'd have got to owerri before refueling again.
The tank on the Skoda maxes out at 60 litres.

How many miles did you cover with that half tank? You may have driven the length and breadth of Lagos and be expecting your needle not to move.

It all depends.
I drive the 08 mdx and used the highlander briefly in Lagos before porting down to the east.
Drive: acura. That ride moves. 0-60 in 6.2 seconds. Faster than most sedans
Durability: This is touchy. The acura 07-09 has a bullet proof engine as long as you change your timing belt when due and observe the b maintenance fluid schedules (transfer case, gear box, rear axle, engine oil etc). A variant of the highlander has the 2gr engine which is known to fail a bit too often from what I have read here and observed. Probably cos of wrong oils and OCI's. So for this, I'd say they are equal.
Offroad: this is naija. If you ever find yourself in the village, you will appreciate the shawd of the mdx. I give the mdx this one. This also improves the driving g dynamics of the mdx
Fuel economy: highlander hands down. Most mdx struggle to achieve 13mpg in the city and 17mpg on the highway. Thanks to our shity fuel. The highlander (4 cylinder) will give you the mpg of a sedan in an SUV.
Ageing : both age well. I am yet to see a rickety or bad looking highlander or mdx
Resale value:highlander. It's got the Toyota badge so that gives it an automatic 500k extra resale value.
Parts: both cost roughly the same. None is cheap. The Bumpers for the 2010 mdx costs twice as much as that of the 08 model. So be careful who bashes you. Let it be a Range Rover so he can pay.

If you want to out those pesky little cars in your dear mirror whenever they become annoying on the highway, get the mdx. Though you'd need to do this with the car light. If loaded, OYO is your case.

should the truck ideally be on the road at that time? Yes. There is no law banning trucks from plying the highway at any time of the day.
is the road itself in good condition. From the pictures, yes. Albeit without markings.

Call a spade a spade.
The truck didn't leave the road to maim these kids in their homes or by the road. Look at the picture again, remove sentiments and tell yourself the bloody truth.
The parents should be tried and jailed for sending these kids to hawk. This is even a highway FFS!!!

My v6 engine is burning oil at a rate of 1 litre per 3,500 kms. I'm thinking of ditching the Mobil 1 extended performance for an oil weight that is heavier. That's minimal. Why not try 10w40? It's still synthetic and shouldn't burn as fast.

Any accident is blamed overspeeding. How convenient. No one has ever asked why okada is allowed to ply a highway.
It is against the law for okada to ply the highway and they are quite reckless.
FRSC should investigate the accident and prosecute those found culpable. I'm tired of hearing overspending as the cause of accidents in this silly country.

Toyota also builds rugged Diesel engines. I have driven their Hilux and LandCruisers and the fuel economy is superb as opposed to same vehicles using PMS.

Recall my statement about vehicle size. Diesel has very high low end torque so it makes getting the heavy vehicles moving easier especially in city driving.
