* Fraud * Corruption * Militants * Terrorists * Murderers * Herdsmen attack....
and many more... This country needs divine help... I pray that God Keeps Baba... He can only do so much....
The problems of this country started the day that Buhari was overthrown by that evil soul called IBB... We are still paying a price we should have paid 30 Years ago.. Hypocrisy. Problem began the day Buhari overthrew a democratic govt of Shagari. He committed treason ; and introduced young officers to military politics. Suppose the way things are difficult right now, the military would overthrow him, would you support it? IBB overthrowing a dictator was a fair game. Because Buhari overthrew our collective democratic will. Our democracy would be 37 years old now and more mature, if not for Buhari. |

AnanseK: You mean GEJ did not have the courage to implement a good policy? You are most probably right. Courage is one of the qualities of leadership. It's pure politics of owners of Nigeria. We saw how tribalists turned on him. Nigeria is a tribalist ethno religious jungle. He was branded clueless, militant, non-listening. When those who wanted him to be their stooge could not get their way. Led by OBJ. So he did it partially. I hope you are all enjoying the change. The drowning and smiling plebeians. The reason attack on GEJ has increased is because of old saying that: it is easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled. The increased attack GEJ is people feeling to proud to accept their mistaking voting in a treasonous coup plotter. |

That was when oil started freefalling. It was literally out of our hands. That period also coincides with roughly Chibok girls abduction, campaign of calumny against GEJ govt, painting Nigeria black both home and abroad, condemning govt effort & military to fight Boko instead of condemning Boko. Those who threatened dog & baboon blood fulfilling their threats. Then the economy began nose-diving. It has only got much worse under APC govt that promised to fix everything within 6 months. Hundreds of years back, people got sweaty doing hard work and no easy access to perfume like we have now. I'm more concerned about damage to the poor skin. Yes, it could have been best done during excess crude earnings but since the govt of then had proved to be hopelessly corrupt, and lacking trust of the citizens, Nigeriana were right to resist it.
BTW, the palliatives promised for the partial removal they eventually did, where are they? Ever heard of SURE-P? Increased "allowee" for youth corpers? Improving train system to eventually cut transport costs for many sounds familiar? Palliative is not about promising 5k to 25m people, one meal a day, paying graduates well UNTIL employment, N45 a litre and other fictitious promises that never see the light of day. GMB will chase shadows, further contract the economy, create more joblessness, more datr===remind the world about all our disadvantages (scam, corruption, indiscipline) instead of selling us positively for investment. For 4 years and achieve nothing. Then APC goons will claim he has laid a solid foundation fighting corruption. And ask for 4 more years. We know it's how's going to end. |

Rexnegro: seems You don't get...the oil dealers especially some big time cabal benefits immersely from subsidy, in The first place without working refineries, govt under obj decided to subsidize oil price by setting huge amount of money (billions) to cover up over 50% of The unsubsidized oil price yet the end users (we the masses) still don't get it at the so called subsidy price. now See what most oil cabal do, they buy here at subsidize price and export to Ghana, Togo, etc to sell at higher price ...hence enjoying the subsidy to enrich themselves, smiling to The banks. Like it was discovered of recent that some tanker trailers ve Been diverting fuel to neighboring con3 that's part of the scam embedded with the so called subsidy. so for me if You ask me I support the removal of subsidy cos from day one it was wrong move by obj...instead of subsidy back then he should ve tried to fix our refineries. Nigerians need to be patient. obj deregulate telecom sectors See today na they dey beg u to take free sim...that's how it will be with fuel in a short Why. for me also patience is all what This pmb/vpyo govt needs. the tunnel May seems dark but there's Light at The end of the tunnel with This govt. Ol' boy forget this sermon. Did we not explain all the ways subsidy fraud is done back in 2012? Did the self-proclaimed owners of Nigeria support it? Were we not called Tanoids for supporting subsidy removal then? Nigeria has a major problem of tribalism/ethno-religious bigotry. By so doing and by refusing to restructure Nigeria into a true Federal System, we're driving a wedge between ourselves. Nigeria may yet plunge into a major ethno-religious crisis if not even a civil war/crisis. I hope we don't prove America right, albeit post 2015. These ethnic politicians will relocate the rest of their families to SA, UK, USA, France, Switzerland and other places where they already have mansions. |

phlemzy: No right thinking activist that has the masses at heart will support this degree of hardship. Its so unfortunate. Truth remains that we will have this to deal with till the year Dangote will commission his refinery in Nigeria. As for Kaduna, Warri, and PHC refineries, their stories will remain the same becos they are old & inefficient. As for Tam-West that did some faulty analysis and promised that fuel would be sold at N40, he was just a tool to achieve victory. What I long to know is:- From which continent do marketers import the fuel they supply Nigerians that it costs about N106/litre to bring to the shores of Nigeria before adding other costs knowing fully well that the price of crude still hovers way below $50/barrel? It is all money making scam. GEJ discovered it soon enough and wanted to eliminate it altogether. Arresting & prosecuting the scammers, who mostly are from the big tribes, would have been disastrous to GEJ politically. So just end subsidy. But the self-acclaimed owners of Nigeria did not want it. What GEJ wanted to do 4 years back and was called clueless, is what GMB is doing now & he's hailed the Messiah. Honestly, some Nigerians deserve the misery they are in. |

AnanseK: Logical Reason! Chief Joseph is a petroleum importer. He imports 10 million litre of petrol at the of cost of N95 per litre.
He report to the DPR that he has imported 15 million litres at the cost of N105 per litre, requesting N30 subsidy per litre.
DPR sends Mr. Yusif a inspection and monitoring officer, to measure and verify the authenticity of the claims.
Chief Joseph offered Mr. Yusif a bribe of the applied subsidy in liew of 1 million liters, which Yusif reject instantly, requesting that of 3million liters so that, it can comfortably go round to his bosses.
Apparently they ended up agreeing on 2.5m liters each. The deal is strucked, Mal. Yusif and his Bosses ended up with N75,000,000 while Joseph, the importer gain N400,000,000 on the deal They jointly cheated the government the sum of N175,000,000.
Finally Chief Joseph divert 75% of the product to the black market and sell at N120 per liter to the masses. Later the government will also pay the cost of transporting 15 million liters to the allocated filling stations across the country.
Thats exactly the case of petroleum subsidy in Nigeria. So isn't it better for the government to invest those savings of hundreds of Billions of Naira wasted every year on subsidy, on life touching projects?.
Sent from my Samsung device What do you think GEJ wanted to do 4 years ago? Opposition/APC knew that successful implementation and benefits from it would affect their chances at the polls in 2015. So better Nigeria suffers for years, as long as APC wins the election. Even a year after winning election, with the way they blame Jonathan, you will think GEJ in still in Aso Rock. Wonderful. Making outrageous campaign promises is fine, fulfilling them is another. |

People keep talking of low crude price, did Buhari not promise to stabilise global crude oil price? We doubted his ability to do this and were called Tanoids. That failed promise also shows he has no plan B on how to fund things? Aside funny exaggerated ability to fight corruption and recover stolen money. DropShot: In 2012, Nigerians were entitled to subsidy given that we were making a hell lot of money from crude sale.
Now, we're not making reasonable profit from crude sale and it's not sensible to still subsize when you're already losing money.
Check other countries where they enjoyed subsidy prior to crude prise crash and you'd realize that they've all remove some subsidy.
Qatar, Saudi, UAE, and many others have increased fuel pump price. It's only those countries where there was no subsidy prior to crude price crash that have witnessed reduction in fuel pump price in tandem with reduction in crude price. Wrong. Ghana implemented subsidy removal roughly same time. They were not making less money from gold. You implement policies from a position of strength. Knowing the difficulty of fighting fuel subsidy scam, it was best to removed it already, take from our income and add to money saved to repair refineries. GEJ jailing Otedola and others in the scam would have only caused uproar from SW and North (most subsidy scammers were from there) of "GEJ is a militant who wants to punish SW/The North." You don't start running around like a headless chicken when things are already hard, you save however you can in good times. |

amaben2020: Mamman Vatsa was a classmate of IBB which automatically made him the next in line systematically to IBB. He tendered his resignation letter to IBB but IBB refused to approve it on the ground that they are best friends. Unknown to Vatsa, the Maradonna was plotting something beyond reasonable doubt. IBB made him FCT minister which was not so powerful at that time but was still scared of Vatsa (Everyone loved Vatsa). IBB was a paranoid man who could eliminate the slightest threat he got from anyone including journalists (Dele Giwa). I'm at the office, to be continued.......... Vatsa was an intellectual guy, a poet and writer. He even had many friends among Nigerian writers. He was well-respected and admired. He also appeared far more principled than IBB. According to Mrs Vatsa, IBB used to come to their house, have a bath, eat and wear Vatsa's clothes and leave again. That's how close they were. Even being Vatsa's best man when he married. If anybody knew IBB's weaknesses, it was Vatsa. IBB could not trust someone who knew his weakness, principled, respected by the military and popular with Nigerian intelligentsia at the same time. The combination was too dangerous for comfort. When Vatsa was sentenced to death, Nigerian writers and poets went to beg IBB to commute it to life but he refused. Only death could eliminate the threat for good. IBB's refusal to bring about civilian govt on time was unpopular with several military officers. Ukiwe & Vatsa among them. People like Abacha may have contributed to Vatsa's downfall. His fall consolidated Abacha's position even more. I think IBB engineered a very lousy phantom coup, got Vatsa to know about it to rope him in. DMI are good at doing such a job. |
