PoliticsRe: Which Of These Critics Will Make A Good President If Allowed To Govern? by AreaFada2: 7:54pm On Apr 26, 2020
None. Not because some of them are not good enough to do the job. But because Nigeria has a very shaky foundation. Tribalism and corruption at every level won't let them succeed.
We have seen it in the last 21 years.

Even if Buhari had the will, youth and mental acuity of 30 years ago, he still wouldn't have succeeded. His fault in my opinion is not knowing that Nigeria needs change of foundation and that he's not got the capacity.

Blame GEJ as you like, at least he had a national conference. Which he might have implemented if he won in 2015? We will never know.

So all mentioned would fail spectacularly too.

Normally SGF job is so vast and dwarfs CoS many times over. SGF normally takes care of ministers. Cos does Predidents time table, visitors and other personal stuff.

Before our very eyes Buhari is emasculating a statutory institution. Maybe another coming president will make NASS irrelevant.

Suffered the ignorance of their situation like Eastern Europeans did during the Iron Curtain. I was able to see much of Eastern Europe soon after the curtain came down. It was nothing to write home about.

Talking to those who lived under the system is chilling. People were spying on own family members for the State. As in spying on your son, dad, husband, daughter, wife. Not to mention arbitrary imprisonment, torture and killings.

It might seem romantic to Africans used to brutal dictators over the years. And their anti Western stance attractive to some. But for those living under the system, it's not funny.

Every Nigerian above 25years should be dead or not functioning well by then.

We must start the campaign now, change our constitution to that that nearly sooths and suit the aspirations of every ethnic group we have. Then our schools curriculum, it needs to reflect our contemporary issues too, amongst others.

I want to believe Nigerians are not bad people, but something we don't need to fish out was wrong about with our integration. We must look forward as a nation and pass our individuality. Our success as a Nation lies with our population. We just need to come together and think AHEAD. No more blames!

A 25 years old would be 85 in the next 60 years. You see why it may take a long time to eradicate corruption from Nigerians DNA.
Look, you think current under 25s are better bred than those above? The current under 25s were feed corruption milk from birth.

Most never did anything hard growing up. Indomie fed. Brought up by very corrupt parents. Special exam centres, sorting lecturers. How do you expect them to be any better.

My friend this your preaching above was said in 1983 when everyone though Buhari and Idiagbon were Messiahs. They were soon exposed that running a country like a military boot camp is not going to bring any economic fortune. We have heard this wishful thinking for decades.

9ja should brace for failure after failure until the natural solution comes. Whatever it may be.
Different tribes fighting for presidency and lucrative positions with no sincere plans have not got us and won't get us anywhere.

Why can't alcohol kill the virus when is in the body system, I learnt it stays in the lungs, but alcohol pass through the oesophagus to the body system which mixed with blood and transport through the capillaries to the lungs, ideally can't alcohol kill the virus in the body system, since it kills the virus when it's on a surface or on our hands.. even after mixing some percentage with water, not to talk of taking it raw..

But make sure you do have any proof or fact why it won't work ? No guessing.
Dude, quality sanitizers contain around 70% alcohol. Even vodka and cognac contain about 40% alcohol.
In any case once you drink alcohol as an adult, a liver enzyme called alcohol dehydrogenase metabolizes it into acetaldehyde firstly.

So alcohol doesn't just stay going round unchanged. You wouldn't want to guzzle huge volumes of high percentage Irish gin or other such gin anyway. Because it can be deadly.

Also the viruses are inside the cells in the body. Even water entering the cells is controlled let alone high amount of alcohol getting into the cell to kill the virus.

Dude it's Dein of Agbor.

Ogiame of Itsekiri is called Olu of Warri too. But does not mean much. It's still a Benin Prince in Warri.

Benin left the British contraption of Western Region at the earliest opportunity in 1963. 57 years ago. More than the 49 years it was part of it. 1914 to 1963.
CultureRe: Stop Promoting Igbo Culture Says Dein Of Agbor by AreaFada2:

With the way the Igbos are going on with their Nri project, Biafra will unlikely extend more than the current 5 states that make up south east. Someone already told us in a different thread that the Obi of Onitsha will not break the cola is the presence of some Nri Ezes.

Imagine the Obi of Agbor with history spanning hundreds of years, probably more authentic and prestigious than any Nri Eze being made to become second class monarch to these Nri Ezes in a new Biafra.

Recently some of these monarchs and people in the south south are beginning to reaffirmed their traditional links with Benin because the dangers of their thrones and culture going extinct is very real should Nigeria breaks up and they are absorbed by these later days big tribes.

Under Benin empire, these various tribes were allowed their autonomy, something, they will likely lose under the so called big tribes.
It's that autonomy that largely gave various tribes freedom. Excel and you could rise in Benin Empire. Ability was key. Several elite in Benin today were not originally Benin. We have Izon, Anioma, Yoruba etc.

Today in UK the Scots, Irish and Welsh make England tick. Even more with aforementioned descent. Some outstanding university research departments have no single original English person. They are now the new English.
Many of my relatives do not bear English or Benin names. Yet nobody questions their "Beniness" on that ground.

I have said many times that being Benin is not about tribe but a shared culture with the Imperial Oba at the apex.
I guess many people are now beginning to see the tolerance of differences Benin took to heart so much in "gie no z' Eka gha z'Eka".

There is no biggie in Benin Kingdom being smaller today. We at least fought to preserve our freedom. Some just didn't dare to face oyinbo. It was a price worth paying.

Those who chickened in are in the same warped Nigerian contraption today. They are not drinking champagne while Benins are drinking palm wine. We are all in it now. At least we fought to prevent it. I can say it now with pride. That is why I laugh when some cry that we didn't support them in 1967. What we saw in 1897, they only saw in 1967. Good 70 years later. grin cheesy

Did they come to our aid then? Of course not.

Igbo just raise many Obis lately just to have many kings. We know aside Onitsha Igbo have no real kings.

Nri is just an Igbo version of Oduduwa. Attempt at political union. But it's proving difficult because Igbo are largely Republican and they all know it.

STOP PROMOTING IGBO CULTURE, SAYS DEIN OF AGBOR
The Dein of Agbor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Dr. Benjamin Ikenchukwu Keagborekuzi I, has enjoined his subjects to stop promoting Igbo culture, describing the Agbor culture as ‘unique and peculiar’.

IMG_9531 STOP PROMOTING IGBO CULTURE, SAYS DEIN OF AGBOR

The Dein gave the admonition at his palace recently while giving his royal blessings to the new Iregwa of Ogbemudien Community, Pa. Bogi Abagi. He called on the good people of Agbor Kingdom to join hands with him to effect the changes he desires to be in place. According to him, “I am back and happy to be in the midst of my subjects. This kind of gathering gives me joy because it is an opportunity for me to learn more from my people. There is room for change, therefore my wish and desire for my subjects is that they adopt and respect every change that is being made. Going through the history of Agbor Kingdom, one will thank the gods for wisdom. Thus, everyone will join hands with me to reposition things the way they ought to be in order to restore our lost glory”.

He called on all Agbor indigenes to preserve Agbor culture and stop promoting Igbo culture. His words, “stop giving our children Igbo names. The native names given to our children should be pronounced and written in Agbor language and not in Igbo or Ika language as Agbor has its own unique language. The Igbo red cap should also be dropped as it is not a native cap for Agbor Kingdom. Soon, I will start driving away my palace chiefs who are fond of coming to the palace, wearing in red caps. Agbor traditions should be respected and preserved for future generations. Parents and the elderly should teach our children and the youths the culture of Agbor”.

The Odion of Agbor Kingdom, Chief Julius Ochei who led the new Iregwa and the people of Ogbemudien to the Dein’s Palace for blessing, said the Iregwa title goes to the oldest man in Ogbemudien Community, stating that it is the turn of Pa. John Bogi Abagi who is 89 years and the oldest man. The Iregwa, according to Chief Ochie is the traditional head of Ogbemudein Community in Agbor Kingdom.

In a chat with Ika Weekly Newspaper Reporter, the Chairman of Ogbemudien Community, Hon. Simon Okpali lauded the Dein for his wealth of knowledge and prayed the good Lord to empower him. He expressed his confidence in the new Iregwa of Ogbemudien to lead well and thanked the Dein for his blessings.

Julius Ehiabor, the Onu-otu of Ogbemudein Community, on his part, said Pa. Abagi leadership is good and that the good people of Ogbemudien Community are happy. He prayed God to give the new Iregwa good health and long life.

Mr. Johnbull Okwuogori Aghaulor felicitating with the Iregwa, appealed to him to continue to lead them in truth. He prayed God to bless the Dein of Agbor, the Iregwa, Ogbemudein Community and Agbor Kingdom.

Responding, Pa. Abagi thanked the Dein, saying that his joy knows no bounds, while soliciting for the cooperation of every son and daughter of Ogbemudein Community to enable him give the Dein the needed support to move Agbor Kingdom forward.

As posted on Ika weekly web site
Samuk, I know this is an old post.

You see, the British were so avowed to cut down the influence of Benin since the 1840s in Lagos that they didn't rest until 1960. From West to East.

While Benin didn't have large populations in its territories, their monarchs and nobility were pure Benin princes and nobility. From Eleko, Eletu Odibo and Obanikoro in Lagos to Ogiamie/Olu and his original chiefs in Warri.

Over 120 years was more than enough to suppress Benin history, while helping other previously tribal groups unite into large ethnic nationalities. The newly emerged larger tribes now took over the suppression crusade from colonial masters.

But in that time, when succession fight occurred in several of those former Benin territories, the matter would be settled in Benin palace. Because those monarchs previously got their approval from Oba of Benin and the history is well known in Benin.

Clearly, Dr Zik who was born in 1904 probably grew up to meet relatives born around 1830s to 1840s. The reign of Oba Osemwende. So he got the authentic history of Onitsha from those old relatives. Even a young man like me met elderly relatives well over 90 years old over 30 years ago. People born around 1880s to 1890s.

Their story of Lagos, Onitsha, much of Anioma, Itsekhiri and Edoid people were remarkably consistent. Even echoed what Zik wrote about Onitsha.

As for Agbor, they are a unique Igboid people but infused with much Benin royal and aristocratic traditions.

I think what many Igbo have refused to accept is that people cannot be forced to identify with you. Cultures evolve over time. The English, Dutch, Swedes, Danes. Flemish, Norwegians and others are Germanic people BUT THEY ARE NOT Germans. Urhobo/Okpe, Isoko, Degema and others are of Greater Benin/Edoid origin but they are not called Benin people of today.

So we cannot start throwing insult at people for carving out a unique identity for themselves. Otherwise the suspicion that it's all about domination of others becomes very potent.

Dude, miracles happen daily. Many of us have experienced it. Unlike some are claiming this thread, it's not so much about one having more faith or being better than others. The heavens choose to be merciful. When Jesus told people their faith healed them, there many faithfuls who were not healed. So it was still mercy upon those giving healing.

However, people misunderstand miracle. It doesn't come from prophets or pastors laying hands on you. In fact there's usually no cleric in sight.

Because no man of God promised us a miracle, when it happens we do not see as such. We just call it "luck".

Until we realise that due to man being very far from God these days, miracles come directly from above, it will remain big business.

Now, this is a sad situation.

It's like a matter of loyalty. Your mum expects your support always. But I'm happy you have an independent and fair mind.
I am worried about both your brother and the lil' sister.

Depending on who your mum is, her belief system and so on, she might be told that the girl has bewitched her family and turned them against her. That could cause even more inexplicable resentment towards that girl.

As things stand at least both of you and your father know that things aren't right. That's something you can discuss with your dad in an honest and mature first.

Sadly, only VERY FEW women can treat their non-biological kids as own biological kids. Including the outwardly very nice ones. It's human nature. Just that it's a bit extreme here.
