Business › Re: Merchants Upgrade POS Machines To Automatically Charge N50 Stamp Duty by bigtt76(f): 5:13am On Nov 26, 2019
Poor reporting, it's the payment terminal service providers (PTSPs) mandated by government to ensure that the charges are collected that enabled it on the POS not the merchant's.

I however hope this would clear the heads of the merchant's who were charging N50 on every N1000 in a single transaction (that is a transaction of N5000 had a charge of N250 instead of N50) angry

But truth be told, the consumers can't just avoid the charges just pay with your card on the POS and avoid stress. If you want to pay with cash, supermarket guys will say no change or when you go to cash from the ATM, you're charged the N65 not on us charge, attempt bank transfers, you are charged N52.50 so which do you prefer?

Anyway, a small hack here.... If your transaction is upto N1000 and above, break the payments into two or multiple transactions .... na the bank go lose grin

cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy on Number 2

I agree with you on number 3 but don't forget also that some of the aircraft were purchased outrightly by Air Peace or that's what they made us understand.

EmmaFantastic:
My reactions to:
Number 1: Yea, very right, my opinion too.

Number 2: Nobody does that in Nigeria o! In fact, it's like a taboo in Nigeria to ask someone his source of wealth. Have you not heard this saying: "Dem no dey ask guyman where him dey see money." grin

Number 3: No, they can not/will not seize any asset (aircraft or whatever) that Air Peace leased. For example, if Air Peace had leased a property from you in London for office use, are you telling me that the courts will seize your property as an innocent lessor because Onyema the owner of Air Peace the lessee committed financial crimes? Hahaha, that will be very ridiculous!. I don't even think such a thing is possible.

Na wao! Tribal sentiment don enter the things cheesy US don't indict people based on tribe o! They got the facts all loaded before they made it public. Is this one saying Invictus was innocent? Or is he saying that Allen did not mislead the banks by diverting the wired funds from intended use to something else?

You cannot schedule a fund transfer to pay for aircrafts and thereafter re-wire the funds to other bank accounts for purposes not stated. That's how terrorists piggyback funds to purchase arms by concealment.

No doubt the funds belong to him but if you don't properly manage its use, it might end up being a source concern to the government.

I wonder why Dangote's name is coming up though.... Atiku is still indicted likewise Buruji Kashamu so..... gedifokoff cheesy

For once she appears to make sense with her post. Questions we failed to ask at the onset regards Allen's source of wealth is now being asked by US. He better go answer the questions now. Meanwhile gradually all his aircrafts would be detained and frozen as proceeds from illegally sourced wealth. All the aircrafts lessors are bound to start calling in their planes. Boeing and other manufacturers might also sue for breach of contract. Man is literally f@cked for now.

Sad o! I just got back from the market now. There are lockup stalls there and a basement either for car par or something available to the traders to trade but we Africans, we like trading in the open. No sooner had the Lagos State environmental agents left than they continue on the streets. I guess they were well settled cheesy

naptu2:
The leaders of the associations are usually elected by the traders, but I remember that there was a thread (years ago) about some traders that were protesting that the government wanted to impose new leaders on them, instead of the leaders that they elected.

I don't know if it has been resolved. This (that the market has been shut) is the most recent information that I have on the issue.

Please does anyone know if they've resolved and will operate tomorrow? undecided

naptu2:
Unfortunately, they did that with Tejuosho, Sura, etc. and were condemned for it (it's too expensive, it's a means to steal money, etc https://www.nairaland.com/412929/fashola-accused-tejuosho-market-scam-a#5688235 ), so what they did was to let the market associations run the markets (I guess they are also part of the private sector).

I don't know what your living expenses and disposable income should be as I don't live with you to know how much you spend in your family. Only you and your wife will know that.

Calculate how much you spend monthly on family needs and state how much you are left with.
Politics › Re: Hate Speech: UN, UK Reject Death Penalty by bigtt76(f): 9:10am On Nov 22, 2019
Wonder why anyone is bothered about this bill sef .....something Bubu wee not sign sef cheesy

Digitiminimi:
The United Nations and the United Kingdom have opposed the death penalty clause in the proposed National Commission for the Prohibition of Hate Speech Bill introduced by Senate Deputy Chief Whip, Sabi Abdullahi.

The UN described the death penalty as barbaric, noting that its inclusion in the bill was unacceptable.

According to the bill, any person who violates the law shall be liable to life imprisonment and where the act causes any loss of life, the person shall be punished with death by hanging.

But the spokesman, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, Mr Olusola Macaulay, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Thursday, said the global body would not support the bill, noting that a UNESCO advocacy group, Media and Information Literacy Coalition, would soon meet with the National Assembly over the proposed legislation.

He said, “We are trying to pay an advocacy visit to the government and do some lobbying. There is a coalition working already, it was formed with the support of UNESCO.

“They are working to meet with the National Assembly to express their mind and possibly advise the government to have a different narrative to the issue of hate speech and fake news.”

Macaulay also said the UN would lobby the Federal Government on the legislation, adding that what was needed is public enlightenment and education about hate speech and not a law stipulating the death penalty for violators.

He said, “I’m not sure what the government needs now is a bill or an idea to shut down people or prevent people from being able to express themselves or express their freedom of thought or information. What I think the government should do more is to enlighten the people.”
The UN agency said most Nigerians were ignorant of issues relating to media and information literacy, noting that a harsh law was not the solution to the challenge.

The global body noted, “Every human being has the right to life and you cannot cut off people’s lives just because someone has expressed his opinion. Nobody is saying hate speech is good.

Hate speech and fake news have been there from time immemorial and it is barbaric to say now that we want to hang people because they expressed their feelings or what they had in mind. So, censoring people or limiting people from participating in politics might not be the correct thing. As I said, the best thing to do is to educate the people.”

Macaulay queried the government for not holding politicians engaging in hate speech to account, noting that many of them had said things that could destabilise the country without being held liable.

The British Government said it supports the right of individuals to express opinions and peacefully challenge authority as an essential part of a free and open society, noting that it was following discussions around the proposed legislation closely.

Commenting on the bill in an emailed response to inquiries by The PUNCH on Wednesday, Her Majesty’s Government said while it takes a strong stand against hate speech which could incite violence and damage relationships within the society, it supports “the right of individuals to express opinions and peacefully challenge authority as an essential part of a free and open society.”

The statement signed by the Senior Press and Public Affairs Officer, British High Commission, Abuja, Chris Ogunmodede, said, “The UK government is following discussions around the proposed Prohibition of Hate Speech bill closely.”

It added, “We take a strong stand against hate speech, which can incite violence and damage community relationships within society. We also strongly support the right of individuals to express opinions and peacefully challenge authority as an essential part of a free and open society.

“The UK strongly opposes the inclusion of the death penalty in any piece of legislation, as a matter of principle.”

Music/Radio › Re: Why Angelique Kidjo Is Burna Boy’s Biggest Threat In Grammy Awards Category by bigtt76(f): 2:23pm On Nov 21, 2019
I thought I was the only one who saw this ....Angelique Kidjo is a formidable competitor and her songs are mostly in local dialect unlike BurnaBoy. We might likely see a repeat of what happened to Lionheart movie

LifestyleTonite:
The news currently getting Nigerians excited is the Grammy Awards nomination of African Giant album by Burna Boy.

Burna Boy got nominated for Best World Music Album.

Best World Music Album:

Gece — Altin Gün
What Heat — Bokanté & Metropole Orkest Conducted By Jules Buckley
African Giant — Burna Boy
Fanm D’ayiti — Nathalie Joachim With Spektral Quartet
Celia — Angelique Kidjo

While many Nigerians believe he would bring the award home, no one seems to be taking into consideration the competition against him.

Right about now, his biggest competition from Africa is Angelique Kidjo who has been nominated nine times and won 3 times.

Two out of the three awards she has won came from the Best World Music Album category, while the third award was gotten from the Best Contemporary World Music Album category.

Asides the fact that she has won the award three times, Angelique Kidjo has had a successful year in music. She has shut down many top European and American concert arenas with awesome live performances.

Some of the concert arenas she shut down this year:

Royal Albert Hall

Elbphilharmonie in Hambourg

Auditorium Parco della Musica – Roma

Villa Arconati – Milano

Carrington at Kongsberg jazz festival, Norway

Her concert schedule sees her preparing to perform in more top European and American auditoriums. With all these, it is quite clear that it won’t be a walk in the park for Burna Boy.

Below are pictures from her concerts as found on her Instagram Page .

Politics › Re: Senate Okays 7.5% VAT And 6 Other Tax Hikes by bigtt76(f): 2:17pm On Nov 21, 2019
Instead of increasing taxes like personal income tax, they should look at ways of improving on its self-assessment, payment, certification and management process.

If you make it seamless, more people would be willing to pay. Increasing it would not increase the number of tax payers... It will only increase the total amount collected at the expense of the few that still pay tax.

Omooba77:
The Senate on Thursday passed the Finance Bill which seeks to amend seven Acts of the National Assembly relating to taxes payable in the country.

The bill specifically seeks an increment of the value-added tax from five per cent to 7.5 per cent.

It also seeks an increment in the Companies Income tax, Customs and excise, Petroleum Profit Tax, Stamp duties, personal income tax and Capital Income tax.

The Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, and Senators Ifeanyi Ubah, Gabriel Suswan and Abba Moro, however, raised objections to the bill.

They said the increment in taxes would further compound the sufferings and pains of Nigerians.

Details later…

Education › Re: Babcock S$x Tape: The True Story, Why The Video Was Leaked by bigtt76(f): 2:02pm On Nov 21, 2019
Dumb! Did he force the girl or was the girl not aware of the recording? Min the video, the girl was actually positioning the guy for the camera when she was blow jobbing him. When done, the guy seem to be asking her by gesticulating 'if that was all' before he stopped the recording. Again the guy's face was not visible in the video.

My thoughts... Did the girl knowingly record the session to sell for financial gain on the p0rn sites?

iamocheme:
After so many reactions, theories and condemnation of the s$x tape video of two Babcock students which was leaked online yesterday, we bring you the true story of how everything when down.

According to Yabaleftonline an anonymous social media user has revealed that said the s$x video is actually not a recent one as the particular guy in it is no longer a student of the university as he was expelled from the university since last semester.

The source also added that the boy was a drug addict and had checked into a rehab centre where he is currently getting treatment. It was during those times he was high on drugs, the unfortunate girl paid a visit to him.

It was during this specific visit that they had s$x.

The source said:

“Please keep me anonymous. The video is not a current video. The guy in the video is no more a student of Babcock. He has been expelled since last semester.”

“He got expelled prior to drug abuse and malpractice last semester. So he was taken to a rehab by the school.”

“The girl went to the rehab to visit him. That was when they had sex.. So the guy made a video, so he’ll be able to remember her when she leaves. Then the guy now showed his guys as per he wanted to show off his knacking skills.”
