I think it's best you bargain with him slightly. Except you have doubts about his capacity and capability.

There's always someone to take a less amount but the output is what matters. Some buildings form work/walls are so unsightly that it's only at the plastering stage that the non-sense work is hidden if at all it can be hidden.

I understand your views and it will be hard to even reason with you. Many a times we have been given wrong interpretation towards certain portions of the Scriptures and we tend to use certain words which are not not even written as God's word or having a scriptural backing.

The facts is that Jesus himself never mentioned that he was God. Mark 10:18, John 14:28, 20:17

If I should ask you these questions:
1. What are those going to heaven going to do there? Because the Bible says they're going for an assignment.
2. At what point did God change his mind that humans should now occupy the heavens since the Old Testament makes no mention of anyone ascending to heaven? Compare John 3:13

Jesus does not need to respond that He is God.

This is one thing I always make self builders to understand when they wanna chook eyes into DIY. If it’s about saving money, just forget it. If it’s about getting good value for your money and ascertaining quality on every aspect of the build - Go Ahead.

I built a carcass of a massive dwelling for someone with 15m and he was like in his whole life he never believed foundation of such building can cost less than N4m

I told him it can only be possible if you have a very good relationship with the builder/contractor/tradesperson who’s well equipped.

In his case:

- I didn’t bill him specially for formwork for raft; columns and beams; and slab
- I produced over 15,000 sandcrete blocks for him at N40 lesser than market price
- He’s not paying premium on concrete works. I have a mixer on standby for the project.
- I supplied him sand at almost 10k lesser than market price.
- I got him cement at official rate
- He never had to build site storage as I shipped my container storage to the site for few nairas as rental fee.

All these things are what increases the cost of construction.

Yes relationship matters alot.

Mould Rental is a huge business. It cost several thousands to invest in it.

Also he said he will mix granite to it. Is this a good deal and how can I monitor him to make sure he uses quality materials throughout.?

He told there are 2 types of molding style , 4sqm is what most people use in the house while 3sqm is for roads.then he said , he will do 4sqm molding style for me . Is this right?

Does this price include laying of the stones on the floor or just only moulding?

In my location my guy does it for me at #2000/#2500 depending on the area of coverage inclusive of moulding and laying.

The pictures posted are not bricks and should not be confused with USA/British bricks as we know it. These are Compressed Stabilised Blocks (CSEB). Burnt (kiln) bricks as obtain and prevalent in the USA/Britain are a different proposition. These can bring class to a building.

Compressed Stabilised Earth Blocks (CSEB) are laterite stabilised with 10% cement and compressed by machine into blocks. I have done research on this about four years ago with a view to building (donating) two blocks of classroom to my secondary school. My findings then revealed CSEB are not cheaper as you need all the elements of normal Sandcrete blocks and more. So you still need your normal foundation with Sandcrete blocks (CSEB don't like water longterm), you would need rebar (for some design), columns and beams even for bungalows. You would also need to plaster the internal walls and paint as normal to achieve clean straight lines internally.

As CSEB are smaller than Sandcrete blocks, you would need more CSEB for same size building as you would with normal blocks. The problems are bricklayers normally charge near the same or even more per CSEB and because you need more CSEB, your labour cost to lay the CSEB is higher.

The cost saving is that you do not need to render the external walls and paint but this cost saving is offset by the need to use rebar for some design and introducing columns and beams here and there. You can ONLY save if you have a mountain of free laterite on your site, so you don't need to buy laterite and you are doing it FULL DIY, no labour cost and you cut corners by limiting the use of rebar, beams and columns.

The CSEB in use presently is in the form of interlock setting as you can see as n3xt has shown with pictures. And it does not need insertions of rods in the hollow space as it does not have hollow spaces within.

Please never allow her take the moringa seed more than 2 seeds and not an every day thing. It is not for everybody. This 2 seeds should take care of the problem at least even 2 weeks or more. Ensure she has eaten not more than 2 hours pre or post before taking it. Just a caution.

Moringa seed has a flip side. Moringa seed is not and never for any one who has a low BP.

You will definitely use regular blocks at the foundation level(substructure stage). At your DPC level you will introduce a beam( plinth beam) which is where you start to lay the interlock brick blocks. As a measure to cut cost you can mark out the areas where you want the bricks to be. It can be bricks eternally only and regular blocks internal. Remember this bricks are maintained by proper polishing from time to time so it maintains its colourful nature.

Are you certain you have it and how high is it?

I will recommend moringa seed. Max intake is 4 seeds but I recommend only 2 seeds and you observe yourself. You cannot take moringa seed if you have a low BP it is harmful at that point.


Another alternative is get the leaves of shawashop fruit plant, boil it and drink the water like tea.

You can do a combination of water melon fruit and lemon fruit. Eating the white part of the lemon helps too and not just the juice alone.



Any option you choose is okay but you are not expected to do a combination of the 3 methods stated at the same time.

Pick one method and follow. Let me also know which method you choose and how you are responding. Ensure you take sufficient rest and limit salt intakes.

A house built in the village is never a liability. Yes he could smaller; but smaller in what sense?

I have an uncle who wanted to build a duplex in the village. It's quite large though and it's supposed to be his retirement house though he is not actually retired from active work. I was told about it and I asked for the design and made certain changes. The major reason for the changes was that apart from him and his wife the children are not around and do not really visit the village. Because we usually have certain oil production and services company staffs within our locality the structure was modified to a pattern that the rooms were all en-suite so it could be put for rentals but the master bedroom, guest room and main lounge are cut out from the section for rental but still maintaining the duplex status.

So he has the option of generating revenue from the building whether he stays in it or not but he usually visits once a month and when not around there's a worthy family member that takes care of the building in his absence only on his permission.

I also have another relative who wants to do same but we are looking at an expansive bungalow but with a pent house.
