What is $50,000 to ex-governors?? They're joking.
But this is a more effective way to remove Saraki, rather than the court declaration of assets nonsense that won't work but is just to spoil his image.
I said before, the only way to remove Saraki is to get the senators to remove him.
How do you remove someone who the opposition intend to use as a point of survival

Why is Jonathan still involved in politics. Old habits never die. One would expect that Jonathan stays away quietly from politics. Bayelsa should be weary of him and his wife.
I also wonder what the former President is still politicking for? He has gotten to the highest office of the land. He should resign from politics, pursue a humanitarian cause and an NGO and perpetuate his name.

And someone will tell me this is not witch-hunt, immediately I saw the news I guessed right, that the source is from Either the Nations or Sahara liars. Even channels confirmed yesterday that over 50 senators had a meeting over this issue. It very funny how the Nation newspaper is targeting Tinubu perceived enemies. I think this four years if APC will be interesting and revealing.
These senators can go open their own newspapers. Please can we get by with the news.

This is an option being considered, but what is the benefit. The senators should get ready to sit their tenure throughout in court. We may not have a legislative arm this period. Many of them would either be sleeping in court or prison

I will not conclude because I don't know what your relationship is like. I just got curious about this story because of the shoe and I did a google check. Your boy friend can get a counterfeit of that shoe for 15-25k in Nigeria here and even on Amazon. The Chinese are very good in ensuring that. I wonder what he wants to use the shoe for (my guess). I am not saying it is bad to spend N93k on shoes, well if it is Oxford and you can afford it, however, from the situation of things, it appears your boy friend cannot afford it and willingly to go into debt for it. Maybe he is a fashion craze person, but putting a N93k shoe paid for by another person is not a very good thing. Hence, I would advice you not to buy it, let him pay for it with his own cash. Also, there is electronic transfer, he can pay with his MasterCard or VISA card.

What is wrong with the police that they cannot squash this kidnap syndicate. The IGP should form a special kidnap squad trained in negotiating, tracking and arresting kidnappers. This criminal industry must not thrive in this country. The police should wake up from their nocturnal activities.

Politics › Saraki Surrenders, Agrees To Appear Before Code Of Conduct Tribunal by Boss13(op): 4:58pm On Sep 21, 2015
The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has released a statement, announcing his decision to attend his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal Tuesday.

Read full statement by Mr. Saraki’s media office below.
The Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki will appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal tomorrow Tuesday 22nd of September 2015.
While the Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, had stated and maintained that he is ready to submit himself to due process of the law on any issue concerning him, he also believes that he has an inalienable right to resort to the same judiciary for protection when he feels his fundamental rights are about to be infringed upon.

The Senate President is a law abiding citizen and his absence from tribunal was based on legal advice he received from his counsel that it is not necessary for him to appear before the tribunal at this stage since the jurisdiction of the tribunal and the process of initiating the matter are being challenged before the federal High Court Abuja.

Following the adjournment for the determination of the motion on notice and the substantive suit before the Federal High Court to 30th of September and the appeal pending before the Court of Appeal adjourned to the 29th of September 2015, the Senate President has decided, as a law abiding citizen, to appear before the Tribunal in the interim.

Dr. Saraki has taken the decision to attend the Tribunal sitting to demonstrate his respect for the rule of law in spite of his personal reservation on the process of his trial and the purpose it may be intended to serve.
Dr. Saraki wishes to assure Nigerians of his absolute belief in the judicial process and is therefore confident that the course of justice would be served at the end of this matter.

Jokes aside. This country is sick. This is a former Minister of Finance, ex-Secretary to the Government and Former Presidential Candidate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a Yoruba Elder statesman that has been kidnapped. In civilized countries, the highest level of security alert would be raised to locate this Very Important personality within hours and try to forestall such from Happening again. But then again this is Nigeria where anything can happen. This is a very very sick country and i am surprised this is happening under a Buhari led APC Government that promised the highest level of security to all Nigerians.

Can this be traced to the withdrawal of police men from Nigerian VIPS or what? This is just as bad as the kidnapping of the Chibok Girls and its sad a whole Former Presidential candidate can be picked off the streets without a whimper of resistance. APC led Government must take responsibility for this and wake up to their responsibilities. Its over 5 months now and they cannot hide under the excuse of we are not prepared or handover security notes have not been properly briefed to Buhari. If GEJ was roundly criticized for the Chibok Girls kidnap, Buhari and APC must accept this one as their fault or are they going to blame GEJ for this one too? No VIP of Falae's stature has ever been kidnapped this easily in Nigeria and they should do everything possible to locate him ASAP unless this would further dent our poor security image.
I really do not understand your line of argument. Are you screaming that VIPs should not be kidnapped and regular citizens should be the victims. I also do not understand why you decided to bring the president into this. We have a structural defect in the country. Kidnapping is a pandemonium issue, yet we go about our business. The penalties for crimes in this country are just too little, hence making crimes a lucrative venture. The President has nothing to do with this, the police, who have actually identified their weakness, should be responsible for protecting the lives of citizens.

You are absolutely right... Sometimes I always ask my self a question, why did God created me in this lawless country.. The next moment I ask for forgiveness... It's very sad that some people would still support a law maker that is running away from law cos of their hatred for the president because of the region he is from... I doubt if Nigeria would ever be good cos our first problem is mind set.... They are hungry yet celebrating those that inflicted poverty on them....
Now they don't hate the president. They just don't want to subject themselves to the law. Saraki is afraid and all he is doing is throw tantrums and shades, recruit imams and supporters club to protest. It is also a shame that the President of Nigerian Student Union is also part of the protesting group

Merely reading the comments in this thread, you will know the problem of Nigeria is not leaders but we citizens. Somebody was accused; very simple, all we want is for him to appear before the court and say his own side of the story SIMPLE... Guilty or Not! A whole president of the SEnate of the federal Republic of Nigeria cannot even respect the law, abi se Code of conduct tribunal was not established by act of law ni, so, why all this movie... I cry for this Nation not because of our leader but because of the clueless and corrupt citizens that lack common sense to differentiate right from wrong... Guilty or No guilty... Let Saraki appear b4 the law!!!! If this case is buried or rubbished then believe me The hope of this Nation is being buried gradually.... If it was an undergraduate that was charged of stealing... Na like 50 handcuffs sars go take carry am go court even when he has not been pronounced guilty by court.. Nobody is bringing our dear SP with handcuff all we want is for him to respect himself and appear b4 the court... This can't even happen in a well civilised country... If we are crying that we want to be developed we really have to understand the basics of what is means...
How do you separate the leaders from the citizens/residents. The leaders are representatives of the residents. When the rest of the world say Nigerians are corrupt, the residents say no, it is our leaders. However, we can see that Nigerians are corrupt people and we are just not serious about fighting it.

Is Saraki on his way to prison now huh That is my point.

I have stated prayer and fasting since last Friday to see the looter is committed to prison. angry

Thereafter, the remaining treasury looters will follow suits.
Laughs against 1,500 Imams praying and fasting that he should not smell prison road talk more of prison wall. Imagine the country we now live in. Criminality is show business in this country, with criminals now having fans and supporters club. It does pay to be a criminal in this country.

This is how to know that many Nigerians are sick.
When PDP members are being indicted, they said the APC government should begin from within. Now Saraki is being indicted, they said it is witch-hunting. They said Tinubu should also be prosecuted...I dare you...if Tinubu is being prosecuted, they will still say it is Northern agenda.

Let us support the present administration at least to reduce corruption to the bearest level.

If there is no WITCH, there will be no HUNTING. So whether witch-hunting or not...The question is, Is he guilty or not?
I agree with you. Maybe we should all report to the tribunal for probing that will satisfy everybody. We don't want corruption, yet our very actions supports it

Why the drama. If you are accused of something you know isn't true, the only sensible thing to do is to go and clear your name. Getting touts to go and disrupt proceedings while you run from pillar to post trying to get court injunctions will only potray you as guilty.

If the number three man in the country and president of the senate is looking for ways to frustrate the LAW from taking its course then such an individual is not fit to make any legislation for others to abide by.
Very simple. I don't understand what is the witch-hunt here. The witchhunt is where you do not obtain a fair hearing and I am surprised people would align with the senate president.

Nigerians voted for change to end corruption but its unfortunate that some misguided fools have succumbed to the lies of politicians. Nigerians politicians know too well that whatever bad that they have done, their tribal or religious men will support them. That is why if they are found wanting they hide under the canopy of witch hunting. With these ideologies of ours,I am afraid if the war against corruption will scale through.
These politicians throw some loaf of bread and their supporters dance around them. Disease of the african soul

i don't think so. As far as this war is concerned the Nigerian government and her military have told us numerous lies as to how they succeeded in killing Shekau and decimating his armies, only for him to resurface time and time again. Ill believe them when i see a dead body
Well you have a point. However, the difference between this army administration and the last is the reduction of Boko Haram onslaught on the pages of newspapers. There is a decline and the last one (bombing IDP camp) depicts desperation on the part of Boko Haram for relevance. Hence, I will stick with the army publications on the victories currently achieved.

I believe Shekau's video was made to reduce chaos already mounting in their camps and to discourage members willingly to surrender or mutiny within the ranks.

Thanks for your information but please let me add that it appears some of our senior lawyers when they have practiced for a long period like 10,15, 20 years do forget the fundamentals of the court system. I learnt in my days as an Undergraduate (100L) that under the Nigerian Legal System, the HIGH COURT, FEDERAL HIGH COURT, SHARIA COURT OF APPEAL and ANY TRIBUNAL as well as the Newly Accredited by the Constitution- The INDUSTRIAL COURT are courts of co-ordinate jurisdiction. What that means is that none of those courts above can issue an order against one another. Appeal from all those courts go to Court of Appeal. So it is the Court of Appeal that can stop the CCT and you know, Saraki cannot head to Court of Appeal as a court of first instance- so the gimmick is go to FHC and if it does not work, on the foundation of the FHC Ruling, either party can now go to Court of Appeal and later to Supreme Court, thereby delaying the arraignment. The best bet is for the CCT to disregard the FHC order as is only persuasive and not binding.

FHC= Federal High Court
CCT = Code of Coduct Tribunal.
Thank you for clarifying. I wonder the High Court Judge that is giving the restraining/Injunction order. Is he not in the capacity to inform the lawyers, who by the way are disgracing themselves, that CCT is a court on its own standing.

There is need for national outcry on the use of generators throughout the night. Areas with poor ventilation should not use it at all. I would advise people to use inverters. The pollution (noise and air pollution) is just so much.
