That’s why I said in my opinion because there are different twist and interpretation. Before you become an immigrant, you must land. Living in Canada is not Landing in Canada, even visitors and illegal immigrant must land too.

If we continue to spam this thread with landing experience, we lose positive contributions on relevant topics. Hence, I advised, if people are interested in those kind of things, open a thread and discuss them.

I know it’s exciting, but landing is not relevant. You would come to know that very soon.

The moment you land in Canada, your "life as a Canadian immigrant" kicks off and you start "living in Canada".
That's where experiences start from.....Sir.
I knew I was going to read something like this to justify spamming this thread with landing topics. That’s not the essence of the thread. Please revert back to the previous thread and the motive of the individual who created it.

When we deviate from objectives, we miss the goal. We don’t allow important topics to be discussed and in turn convert the thread to a gossip section.

If people are more interested in reading landing topics, create a thread for that purpose or post in the POST-PPR thread.
Travel › Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by Boss13: 2:07pm On Jan 30, 2019
In Earnest, I think this thread was open to share experiences and helpful notes whilst living in canada. In my opinion, I think sharing landing gist here is inappropriate. There are specific threads for that purpose.

For any avoidance of doubt, the thread is living in canada or life as a Canadian immigrant. It’s not landing in canada or requesting information on how to land, apply for Canadian immigration or concerns related to immigration process.

There are many relevant topics to discuss. Please let’s observe proper etiquette

Music/Radio › Victor AD - Review by Boss13(op): 2:38pm On Jan 29, 2019
I know he has not done an album or EP, but I think it’s proper when a new talent burst into the scene, it okay to review such individual. Also, I have listened to three (3) of his musical output and that’s sufficient enough to say a few words

Victor AD has a high pitch voice that he controls very well and deliver with dexterity. Lyrically, he is very strong utilizing words that fits his present circumstances and pouring out his heart. Listening to him, you can smell the hunger and desire in his voice. This might not be close, but he reminds me of 50cent get rich of die trying album, where 50cent had only one aim - get rich with his music.

Many Nigerian musicians hide behind the catching beat of their songs and as such fans are really not interested in what they are saying, if they are even passing a message. This does not apply to Victor AD, his high pitch voice forces you to listen and his message is extra relevant that it’s draws your attention.

Wetin we gain” was a massive hit and now an anthem in the street. Not relenting, he came up with “Tire You” and “No Idea” and I can conclusively say this guy at the moment is the best Nigerian musician I have listened to. Victor AD takes me back to the 80’s where Nigerian musicians really take their craft seriously. He is not just a guy who can sing, he appears to take his music seriously and delivers in an implacable manner. For now his music is not the “bum bum” stereotype we get from many Nigerian musicians. Even his love song, No Idea, reflects an undying love that stands the true test of time.

Well done Victor AD, hope to listen more from you.

Being a faithful christain does not guarantee riches
You missed out something. Being a true Christian means you hate material things and that includes money. You live a life a penury because you are preparing yourself for eternal growth in Heaven.

How many Nigerian Christian would want to do this? They are their pastors are bunch of jokers!

Football is one profession that has led many Nigerian youths to their doom! You keep playing it year in year out in the streets, hoping that someday a big club will sign you. Then you get to a certain age and realize that you have lost out as most clubs prefer younger players. You then begin to hide your real age and take all whatnot to appear fit. By the time you realize that you have completely lost out, you are probably in your 40s and with no other skills to fall on. You then join the association of retired street football stars and newspaper stand football analysts.

So, my brother, at 19 you have to be very careful in this your football aspiration. If you know you are not that fantastic in it and lack the connection to push you up the ladder, then I'll advise you to drop that ambition and look for something else. But if you insist, make sure you combine playing football with learning other skills or vocation.
The problem is that the sport is not properly developed for grassroot talents. At 19 he should be playing actively in the Nigeria premier league and not thinking about it. However, at that age, you still find players gaining their first break.

The OP needs to think it through because his clock started yesterday and he has to work thrice as hard to achieve his goal

Those methods mentioned work fine. There is one others I have tried, which you may also find helpful.

There are FX dealers on Nigerian group whatsapp and here on Nairaland who may be able to offer you CAD in exchange for Naira. They deposit CAD into your Canadian account, while you in turn deposit Naira into their Nigerian account. It can be very effective and usually happens relatively faster than international wire. However, it's important you deal with someone trustworthy here. Usually, there are friends who can refer you to someone they've had dealings with who is trustworthy.
How do you know they are FX trader. Did they show you a license to provide such services. Are you certain the source of money is clean?

Please whoever is considering converting naira or dollars to CAD, please use the Banks. Dem no dey talk this thing twice.

You are right before they label someone terrorist. Actually there is a story about this somewhere on nairaland I think. I can't recall the details anymore but the family used a BDC and were arrested at POE for laundering money for terrorists or something along that line. Their case is still in court in Canada.
Yea I tell people to be careful on receiving money from unrelated persons.

Don’t do this. Don’t take the risk. Get your funds from financial institutions. There are lots of yahoo boys and girls posing as FX dealers. Ignore any referrals as the source of the funds may be bad. I’m confidently telling you this because of the industry I work.

Lastruct:
Hello landed seniors! I have decided to carry myself enter here officially while waiting for COPR. My PPR story has been shared on the sister thread. Una Weldone here oh.

Please I need help from our experienced seniors here. I am a construction project manager with civil engineering background and about ten years experience in the construction industry. Before now, I have been doing some research on the best province for me to land with my Nurse Spouse. Came up with Vancouver BC and Calgary, Alberta as preferred places. But decided to chose Calgary because I read from some sites that Vancouver and BC is generally expensive and tough to survive.
I was chatting with a friend who currently lives in Ottawa Ontario yesterday and he was kinda discouraging me from going to Calgary but rather come join him in Ottawa. He mentioned reasons like fluctuation in oil whic I turn affect the entire Alberta economy, scanty communities which prevents one from mixing up, inability to easily get support from people as most calgarians are ‘mind ur business kinda people’ and all that. The truth is that apart from the fact that I personally don’t like to live in a place that is too busy like Lagos, I also don’t seem to believe there are construction opportunities from what I have seen so far in Ottawa as compared to Calgary, I may be wrong oh. But then, experienced people should please help me.

So I have brought this here for my ogas to help me chuck mouth and advice me oh before I go jogodo for Cannyland.

All what my friend was telling me was that I can easily get casual jobs almost immediately as I land and start looking for better job once I get settled.

Your suggestions and advise would be very appreciated.
@salford, @maternal, @joo2018, @einsteino and all the Oga patapatas, Biko make una helep me oh
I wonder where people get this misconception on Ontario being a rowdy place like Lagos. The only place you get to see lots of people is Downtown Toronto. Ontario province is well planned.

yes that was my first impression. The demons inside of him trying to possess another vessel. In short he has already possessed the guy. But I only said that it was the friends spirit because he died by accident. Spirit of those that died in sudden accident don't just depart suddenly. The hang around close friends or family for years. Some for ever. Until the come to accept that the are actually dead. Only then can the move on
This is a terrible misconception. Some people postulate that those who participate in Astral or Soul travel expose the body to the risk of being taken over by extraterrestrial beings - LIES

Just as we have the umbilical cord as babies, there is a silver line cord that attaches the body to the spirit being.

You cannot do anything for those who have transcended. It’s more better to focus on yourself. Their time on Earth is done and they are in a more better place for their own development.
