Every sane person is going to a first word country to have solid foundations there.

Politicians, captains of industry, billionaires and multi millionaires all have kids who have dual citizenship as both Nigerians and a first world country.

Entertainers are all hustling to give birth to their kids in a first world country.

Even a thug ala Mc Oluomo has kids who are schooling in the USA.

I would do myself and unborn kids a great disservice by not availing them.an "option"- having them rooted in a first world country. It just would be a disaster

You now give a deposit to the seller showing you are serious to buy it.By that token,it won't be sold to another person.When you are now ready to carry it, you.pay the balance. If the normal sch.fee is #100k and I've laid #30k as acceptable, my balance of sch.fee should be #70k.But in Nigeria,it is not so.

This federalism is not working out ONE BIT!!

Acceptance fee is a way of showing commitment to attending the institution. It should not be a separate fee but should be applied towards the school fees of the student.

If a first year student is supposed to pay 50,000 naira, he should pay an "acceptance deposit" of probably 10,000 and later on conclude the rest.

Yet they will want to rip students off because of acceptance fees. I hope schools are listening.

The thing is that a lot of people don't understand financial planning. If you see money today, you aren't meant to finish all of it.

There are people that can afford a 5 million naira wedding because that money is peanuts compared to their relative net worth. To others that money will make a significant dent.

Did you discuss the true state of your finances with her? Have you guys planned your financial future? What is your financial goals? How does a big or small wedding affect your plans?

I doubt both of you were on the same page on financially that's why you didn't understand each other.

So seat down, ask yourself some questions then approach her if you decide to.

Op, in a way, I feel you are shortchanging yourself.

At 18, she cannot answer basic life questions. She can't take certain decisions, she can't see her own future and now that includes yours as well.

Who's going to brainstorm with you? Who is going to make decisions with you? Who will stand for you when you are not around? Who will your kids look up to as role models? What kind of standards are you setting in the house? Who will you build your networth and empire with? Who will provide the right kind of advice and stand as an anchor to your life? Who will you be so confident as to leave your state of affairs with? Who can you make a cosigner to your business? Who can confidently be your second in command and do a good job?

Are these not the things people look out for in marriage? Am I mistaken?

An 18 year old will never give you these. If she can, she will have enough sense to not opt for marriage now.

But, all in all, I wish you the best.
