I don't know about you guys out there, but the machinery of Sanwo Olu's government seems to be at a standstill for whatever reason. For me, to get things moving and improving the lives of Lagosians, Sanwo Olu would do well to set up the following task forces : 1. TASK FORCE ON TRAFFIC CONGESTION 2. TASK FORCE ON STREET HAWKING AND BEGGING URCHINS 3. TASK FORCE ON STREET TRADING 4. TASK FORCE ON BLOCKED DRAINAGES 5. TASK FORCE ON BAD ROADS AND POT HOLES. 6. TASK FORCE ON ABANDONED VEHICLES 7. TASK FORCE ON INDISCIPLINE (way people wee on the roads, drop waste on the roads, cross roads when there are pedestrian bridges etc) |
So someone in his right mind leaves his country and wants to come retire in Nigeria!! The guy must be a criminal on the run cos he'll never get caught in Nigeria!! Otherwise no normal person would make that decision. |
This is bad news! I trust that the customs officials will gladly now start stopping people and basing their action on this press release. |
ornicus:Oga, let's be real. NO One does a road in Nigeria like JB. RCC o, HITECH o, PW O. Maybe there are better companies than JB abroad, but unfortunately not in Nigeria |
LegoxMetahuman:The one in their houses are they not also paying for it? It's not free you know! Comcast or AT&T Internet to your house will still cost you like $45 - $80 depending on the speed |
king406:That one is even the easy part!! |
So what exactly is the long-term strategy for this Nigerian rail service. Because anywhere in the world passenger traffic on rail lines actually is not profitable what makes rail lines profitable is the commercial transportation on it. carrying of goods and materials and I'm not seeing that in any of what we're doing. all we seem to be doing is trying to use the rail for passenger services and that can never be profitable. I'm not aware of any country in the world where passenger service on trains in itself is profitable without the extra income from companies who are transporting their goods from one part of the country to another |
The woman must be a BASTARD for saying that! Who be fool! Honestly speaking if a had a proper American snipers rifle, I would take her and All her children out one by one!! |
The only way to keep all the infrastructure that the current administration is doing such as airport rail lines etc in good condition is to concession them or privatize them. To be fair the Federal Government of Nigeria has no business trying to run Airport and trying to run train services across the country. |
Beautyaddy:I totally agree with you looks tiny. For the population of Lagos that airport should be at least five times bigger than that. |
It's not bad but it's a pretty boring design. Would have been a bit nicer if they could have used the culture of the various locations of those airports and put a little bit of a twist on the design to make it a bit more appealing. It's kind of pity boring going around the country and seeing exactly the same thing. |
Data in Nigeria is quite cheap! I don't know where we keep getting the idea that it's expensive here. I was in Houston last week and the cheapest I could get was Mint mobile at $15 for 3Gb (N5.4k). Granted call and text are free, but we all know that now what we really pay for is data. https://www.mintmobile.com/plans/ |
BuhariAdvocate:What stupid tradition is that!! |
helinues:We no sabi na! What technology have we invented? What existing technology have our universities improved? We can't even copy simple road construction techniques properly. |
As far as I'm concerned this is a shallow article. What foreign airlines do is not to operate domestic routes, but rather to offer a route say PH to London and stop in Abuja to pick additional passengers as volume from only one city is usually not enough. The only city that can support direct flights out of Nigeria consistently is Lagos. If passengers get on a Lufthansa flight to London from PH and the plane stops in Abuja, the passengers do not get down. Only those onboarding from Abuja get On to the plane. So this does not compete directly with local airlines. Agreed you could argue that if this was not the case, the guy in PH would have to fly domestic to Abuja to enter his international flight, but nigeria is certainly big enough not to concentrate international flights in 2 cities (Lagos and Abuja). In my mind the cities designated as international airports currently are ok (Lagos, Abuja, Kano, PH and ENUGU) are ok and ensure relative closeness to everyone. Not sure if Kaduna is still an international airport. If our domestic economy is vibrant enough we will have more demand for local flights. There are enough business men, Bank audit staff, oil and gas staff etc travelling back and forth across Nigeria to keep local airlines busy. After all how many arik or Air peace flights have you seen empty. Air france from Paris flys into almost 20 US destinations. For example I am in Houston writing this and I flew airfrance into Houston. On my return I fly air france from Houston to atlanta and then on to Paris before landing in lagos, yet Delta is not crying blue murder. |
I hope the governor remembers to do drainage at the same time. The primary reason why these roads fail is water sorting on the road for long periods of time as well as mixing with sand on the road, which we have plenty of. |
toprealman:This is the comparison that weakened me as well. ![]() |
OgboAto:Good point! Cos there are also very daft girls who actively seek this out because they have no other hope of passing. |
Nigerians too talk for phone sef. Funny enough my driver who is far lower than me in the economic ladder spends more time on the phone than me. |
AroleOduduwa2:No be person we get car dey pay toll gate? If you can't eat, how come your have a car?? |
TheDestroyer:Which companies have moved to Ibadan recently? |
Can someone help me. So is this road going to be as asphalted over when it's done? |
Jakasibo:How can something planes use be a waste product |
JasonScoolari:Report says 99%of the contracts were awarded between 2012 and 2012!! Just saying!! |
Amudeneogu:Look at the names again and don't be stupid |
Arsenella007:What has he really done so far though? |
Iwobi's shooting is terrible!!! |
majamajic:Cos we've started using Nigerians playing in the NBA!! When we used to use primarily those playing in the local leagues, we'd be whitewashed by Angola!! Short cut to success! We have basically reaped where we have not sown. |
Many of which have started going bad again!!!! Emphasis is usually on quantity instead of quality. |
orunmila144:When were commissioners appointed that this Oladeinde is suddenly the reason why traffic is better. Chap, think!! Traffic is better at the moment because schools have been on long holiday. Wait another 2weeks for school to resume and see madness on our roads. |
RemiOAjayi:I totally agree. Sanwo Olu has not done much! I am disappointed |
Why not create a holding company to manage the tracks and let private companies bring locomotives to operate services. Similar to an airport. Government has been proven to be incapable of running businesses, yet we insist on doing so. Check the list of failed Nigerian companies: Nigerian Airways National Salt company Nigerian refineries Nigerian Coal company Ajaokuta Government banks Government hotels Eleme petrochemical Why then do we think we can manage this railway? In 5 years it will have fallen apart and all we will have will be debts to pay. |
