Christianity Etc › Re: The Sadistic Nature Of Earth-life by DeepSight(op): 9:12am On Jun 17, 2022
MaxInDHouse:
God created man in His own image {Genesis 1:26} and because they have the nature of the God who can be blamed if He err man must blame himself for not living up to expectation as the one and only earthly creature made in the likeness of God! Romans 3:23
This is upside-down reasoning. It is exactly because man is said to be created in the image of God that the matter is so damning for God - because the nature of man then effectively discloses the nature of God.

Human beings are supposed to be portals or dispensers of Love.
I would rather say that mankind are portals and dispensers of every potential tendency in existence and not just love.

After incarnating on earth mankind could have made this earth a reflection of paradise over time. Had they kept to the laws of creation, overtime, they would have evolved their physical bodies to the point where it doesn’t require meat eating anymore; by now mankind should have become vegetarians. However, mankind failed in evolving to this stage. Hence our present earth bodies still require meat eating.
Also, had mankind not failed in unfolding their spiritual gifts, animals would also have been driven to further along in their development. Love, emanating from the human sprits would have permeated everything, even the animals, making them milder and less aggressive.
One thing I find disconcerting among many theists is the tendency to blame mankind for every evil in the universe. An Adherent friend of mine once argued on this same subject that if man were well behaved, no such creatures as mosquitoes, flies, maggots and other such would even come into existence at all. And that they exist because of the evil of man. I had to shake my head at the fact that he ignored the ancient role all these play in the ecosystem. Long before the time of man on Earth.

I am generally of the view that a creator cannot blame a created thing for its faulty nature. There is a thread where I discussed this. No matter how you slice it dice it, a fundamental responsibility as to the nature of a created thing rests with its creator. I dont understand why man is in such a hurry to excuse his creator from the problem of evil, heaping it exclusively on himself, when it is evident that evil well transcends infinitesimal mankind.

A broken or failed electric bulb sits sadly in darkness wondering why the house builder did not provide a device that would illuminate or light up the house.
Long time great brother.
I hear you. But I think we are saying different things.
You are talking about something broken or failed.
I am saying that the fundamental construct itself, where working fine, is cruel.

So for example, the very dictate that living things must consume other living things to live. This is fundamental. It did not arise by reason of man's failure. Its fundamental to Earthlife. And this inescapably provides for certain strife in nature - which, even if arguably healthy for the system, does not dispose of animal suffering therein.

PastorMIsBack:
Perhaps this is what is putting most people off (I'm only thinking aloud before anybody slays me).

You have to go into a forest etc.

With Christianity, you simply believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and you shall be saved.
Simple.
And does it not occur to you that there is something manifestly ritualistic about the idea that one must -

1. Call a fellow human being Almighty God
2. Believe that he was born of a Virgin
3. Believe that he was tortured and slaughtered as a sacrifice for the propitiation of sins (effectively believing in ritual human sacrifice)
4. Hold on to the idea of this ritual human sacrifice as the source of one's redemption.

How is it that we Africans are so clear eyed when it comes to seeing the "paganism" and "barbaric ritualism" in our own traditions, but are so blind to seeing same even when manifestly obvious in other traditions. Is this a chronic self hatred, inferiority complex or what? ? ?

You go into Igbodu (the forest of Odu) and get initiated, that is the process called Itefa. They open the calabash of Odu and you look inside.

Odu is talked about a lot in Ofun Meji, that is an Ifa odu (small letter odu).

Ogbaragada li o dia fun Odu
Ogbaragada made the divination for Odu
when Odu was going to create all the character in the world (Iwa gbogbo)
He was told to make sacrifice.
Four poles and one big calabash with a lid and a chain.
He heard and made the sacrifice
No one would ever question his authority he was told.
He should plant the 4 posts and place the calabash on them
and use the Chain to attach the poles to his hands.
He did as he was told.
The day Odu created all the characters and forms in the world is called Oodua ( Odu ti o da Iwa).
He created all that exists within the calabash
We and all creation are all living inside that calabash.

A deep study of Ofun Meji will reveal that those 4 posts are nothing other than the 4 Elements that Hermetic traditions tells us that the world is made out of. White, Red, Yellow, and Black.
Ose ore.

I've found out that Women can witness Odu but only post menopausal women. Any fertile woman that sees Odu will have her womb ruined. Perhaps being charged naturally with Odu already it will cause an imbalance in femininity.

Don't give up. Chart a new course and start with a single step: the world and history are full of unbelievable turn-arounds.
Marriage and having children are not the most important things in life: indeed they are not for everyone.

The world is a school for conscious beings and what you have been through is nothing but the school of life. What is key in life is having deep aspiration towards worthy personal goals, and striving with determination towards them. Gird your loins, find a quiet time, look deep within your spirit, and you will find the strength you need for a new life.

Believe. There can be a new you, and a new day.

There is nothing new about foreign intelligence agencies meddling in the affairs of nations. Nothing new about that at all.

One consistent trait about conspiracy theory Nutheads is the delusion that they are privy to important secrets that everyone else does not know.
The man may be a nut job, but he has walked the corridors of power and has frolicked with people of power virtually all his life, so its not inconceivable that he may indeed know a thing or two which remain unknown to the generality of the public.

I recall his TedX speech a long time ago on the alleged beheading of Gideon Akaluka by Sanusi Lamido, which was quite insightful.

You know, in spite of my self and my pessimistic take as expressed above in this thread already, I have to say that there is a paradox inherent in this statement. Because if there were no life, there would be no one capable of arriving at the assessment that life is unnecessary in the first place. Therefore it is difficult to properly situate the meaning of this necessity which is talked about here. What would, by contrast, be "necessary" in a world without life, and what would it be necessary for? ? ? You see the problem?

Well it is dangerous to see genuine inquiry as racist. How could accepting or denying his Igboness be "racist" I do not get that, Why??
Indeed I agree that it is dangerous to see genuine inquiry as racist, save that this particular friend was my best friend for twenty years and I know him very well. He believes in superior master races and the like, believes in Caucasian superiority, believes also particularly that the ibo have no history of note. I thus knew all too well where his disputation regarding Olaudah's origins arose from.

I find it strange that he remembers he is Eboe or Igbo but does not remember his own name or the name of any significant person from his family or clan
or any Igbo words, Not one?
It raises questions about "false memory" or confabulation but like I said I am only guessing

Also I know that many Igbo groups as we know them today did not identify as Igbo" even as recently as 1914 or later e.g . Ngwas
so I would be surprised that a small child from 200 years ago remembers he is "igbo" I would have expected a more local Identity based on clan
It could be as you say, it could also be that there are fragments in his mind which helped him identify his roots even if such identification was helped by later information acquired as he grew. Something which is nested within a human mind as young as his at the time it was said to have been uprooted is way too subjective an experience to be interrogated in certain ways. Nonetheless, so long as you are open minded on the subject, which I see you are, its no matter.

My point is ultimately I do not know and it is unknowable

I just wonder is it possible to forget his names . He did not provide any "Eboe names" for himself
Also the talk of "EBOE part of Benin Kingdom" is not quite right is it?
I really wouldn't know.... I can only say with reference to the Ibo name issue that heaven knows what that kind of trauma can inflict on the mind of a child. With respect to the issue of an Ibo part of the Benin kingdom, who knows.... Benin was certainly expansive and I don't think it's inconceivable that they had expanded into land occupied by Ibos.

I am not Igbo but it really irritated me that my once upon a time friend insisted Olaudah could not be Igbo especially because I knew his stance came from a belief that the Igbo race has no history of note.

I despise all racist, ethnic and tribalist chauvinism.

Your stance seems reasonable to me.

The story was challenged at the time of the writing by his contemporaries long before Nigeria was created. That is a fact so You insisting on one version over another has to have some basis.

My point is you are entitled to believe what you like but be honest about it . You DO NOT KNOW. You choose to believe .

There are many stories written in the bible , Quran and other places? All stories are questionable
His story was questionable for many reasons. There is no Eboe region of the Benin kingdom he remembered he was Eboe but could not name his village or clan or even his OWN EBOE name? There is research suggesting he was actually born in South Carolina. So choosing one version as true and the other as false has to have some basis

Even in this Nigeria stores that happen in our lifetime are debated and debatable. People argue about what caused Biafra war or what happened under Goodluck Jonathan not to talk of what happened hundreds of years ago and WAS QUESTIONED even then
So long as you leave open the possibility, I have no issue with what you are saying. My former friend who I mentioned tried to shut out the possibility altogether. Also, the fact that his memory was poor doesn't necessarily invalidate his account - for according to him, he was a little kid at the time he was taken.
