Now with min wage of 30k and average lag to NY ticket of 2 to 2.5 million Naira, you will need to earn 66 to 81 times the current min wage to afford the ticket.

Seems like it was way more expensive back then.

Yours is way simpler, I agree. I guess I did too much by also considering inflation. The naira had more value then, going for N125 to £65. I also made the error of computing with less than 2 million.

There was this bad road inside the streets of Ojo. That street is ALWAYS waterlogged. ALWAYS! This made the street look so bad and stinks to the high heavens. Although it serves as a vital link road, the government left that road unattended for the better part of 2 decades. Immediately work started on that road and the crevices for gutter was dug by the excavators on both sides, the water disappeared. The road is yet to be finished o (you know how government contracts drag), but the water that usually populate the road is nowhere to be seen again, except after a heavy downpour.

This is akin to what happened here.

In 2024, Minimum wage is £25 Same worker earning minimum wage and keeping half their salary to pay for this trip would need 83 years of work to be able to afford the average round trip fare today.

I think eliminating that vitrol has given other aspects of Nairaland rebirth. It's a welcome development.

It's a tricky situation you are in. From experience, I know co-workers tend to snitch when they can't or are conditioned not to freely express themselves .

As a sole proprietor, he brought up that company to what it is today. It may not be easy convincing him that his decision making is faulty, especially if the company is progressing. There is no law in public service that prevents any public officer from being a shareholder of any company. Except it can be shown how he influenced the award of those funds to the said company, the directors will be more culpable before even the shareholders.

It will take more than alleging he directly influenced those shares to nail the Minister. He can be a shareholder, there is no crime in that or law against that. But since he is not a director, that's a clean slate for him. The only stain there is their involvement in the Betty Edu business.

However, he must now tread carefully. Nigerians do not take too kindly to public officers' names coming up in cases involving corruption.
