THere is nothing wrong in him pursuing music if that is what gives him joy. It is the same with mothers trying to dictate for their sons who to marry, for petes sakes, a grown man should be allowed to make his own choice even if you don't think it is the right choice.

The OP has not committed a crime by following the path of music, he is old enough to make his choice and the mother has no right to make his life a living hell cos of that.

His mother lived through the challenges of having a musician as a life partner and she made it very clear that this is not a career path that she is in support of. When he became stubborn to her warning she followed through with her condition and never supported his dreams.

My mother said if I ever enter the entertainment industry that she will disown me if she doesn't kill me so I followed her advice and went to school to find a path that would make her proud.

Op is the architect of his life and he should leave this woman alone and grow the heck up! Imagine an adult crying about their mother when they can go out into the world and do better. Op is a waste man but he won't see that.

If this is true for anyone then I don't know how someone gets over such trauma. I guess time is the best possible solution but there might be something called post traumatic stress disorder that could result from such experience.

The individual may notice that they can't sleep or stay asleep for long enough, they can't focus, they can't control their emotions and they might turn to drugs and alcohol to try and soothe their symptoms.

Something like this could change an individual and my 1 suggestion would be to be kind to yourself. To live is to suffer and all you have to do is keep living. In some way you will adapt to the situation and just keep it moving.

Why don't you find out from her what the problem is? We can't tell you anything about her but it might not be the way you're seeing it.

Being at home all day with children, no adult conversation, always looking after someone and nobody looking after you can wear a person out.

I'm not excusing her behaviour but I'm trying to point out that there could be a reason for her behaviour other than *she's a toxic woman* and the same way you're tired is the same way she's tired. What you feel is what she feels.

You guys need to talk about your struggles in a way that doesn't blame the other. Find out her needs and state your needs then meet half way. Depending on your financial capabilities see if you can relieve some of her burden.

If you're in your early 20s you could get away with that but as an independent adult it looks bad that you can't or won't afford your own travel expenses. It's not a good look for a grown woman.
