Worldly Targets Set By Churches: How My Friend Began Preaching Rubbish

Ever since I became born-again and began to walk closely with God, I have always thought the practice of setting attendance or financial targets by churches and their leaders for those under their leadership was erroneous.

I believed it was a worldly practice that had nothing to do with God, hence if the church embraced such it would only end up derailing the church from its original values and standard.

I once had a friend who was a dedicated member of Christ Embassy, one of the denominations guilty of this practice, so when this topic came up during our conversations, I expressed my disapproval of such a policy in the church. But despite being a very devoted and committed member of the Church, he honestly admitted that such targets made him to start preaching what he ought not when he held a leadership position under the church.

He bowed to the pressure of meeting such targets set for him by his leaders and began preaching something else which he thought would enable him meet those targets when preaching the right thing couldn't.

I wasn't much surprised though about that because I knew very well that such was inevitable, considering that such targets were worldly and not of God, so it was only going to lead to compromising and going contrary to the things of God, since the things of this world were opposed to the things of God.

This is the same kind of targets set by some financial institutions to their employees that would make them to start going to ridiculous lengths, including sleeping with some of their clients, to meet them.

This is what has being embraced by a significant part of the church which ought to be in this world but not to the world.

That's why I don't get impressed with the mammoth crowds attending some churches and the amount of money they generate as a result.

It's much easier to achieve similar results by preaching the nonsense people want to hear rather than the Truth and Words of the Spirit.

If it were by preaching rubbish as it is the case in most of such churches, many of the disciples who left Jesus because of the Words of the Spirit He preached, would have never left Him.

They would have remained in the church at the expense of spiritual quality, which is more or less the result of the church we have today.

That's why I don't judge a church by the amount of members or riches they have, but how much they follow the example and teachings of Christ, because that's the only true standard that determines how successful a church is in the sight of God.

Are you sure the Lord has given you the sole ministry of whatever this thing is that you're doing?
Even in cults they're given targets to know how influential and powerful they are and their reach. They even pay dues, how much you who is tasked with the responsibility of reaching the world with the gospel?
If I asked you when the last time was that you preached and led someone to Christ, I'm not certain I'd get a response from you.
If you claim to be Spiritual and understand these matters, then look into your Bible and observe how the church grew and expanded.

I saw this as motivation, moved and doubled down on my hustle and lost communication with both of them.
As I was trying to find my bearings, within a year two of my friends had already kicked me out of their house.

I have two kids and recently gave birth to the third few months ago. It's been really difficult for me since I practically do most of the house chores... my husband is hardly around because of work.

I came down with this strange disturbing headache that doesnt go away. So I went to see a doctor and she said the headache was as a result of postpartum stress and lack of sleep.

The truth is I'm awake most of the time because of the baby or when I'm attending to other household matter. I haven't had a good sleep in a long while. So when the doctor suggested I get a house help so I can find time and sleep when shes holding the baby. I knew she she was on point. But the problem is my husband, he wouldn't hear of it, he doesn't want us to get any househelp...

I even pleaded with him and made him see reasons why I needed help, but he refused... I'm beginning to think I ended up with the wrong person because I dont understand why anyone would deliberately want to subject their wife to this kind of torture.

My kids are age 5, 2 and 3 months... I go to the market, cook, clean, i even do school run too...He's a contractor and will be travelling back to work next week.. yet he doesn't want me to get help...

I have a male kid that is about 3 years old and I recently observed that a particular kid in the compound that is 2 months older than him always attempt to bully him at sight.

The few times this have happened in my presence, I restrained my son from retaliating cos the boy in question is autistic. Though my wife also informed me, there was a day my son fought back and the boy stopped his bullying attempt for a while afterwards.

This morning my son was about to leave for school. Immediately he came out of the apartment, the boy ran towards him and hit him. Once more, I stopped my son from hitting him back but this time his mum (my neighbour) experienced the scenario and only made a remark to the boy to stop looking for trouble. I felt she made the remark just to create an impression that she was concerned.

I've been feeling so uneasy about this since morning and this is obviously a bullying case and I'm subtly training my kid to tolerate it. Hence, I've concluded that the next time such will happen, I will ask my boy to fight back.

Just to have your opinion on this matter, is fighting back the best approach in this situation putting into consideration the health condition of the bully ?

This is the first topic i have created since i joined this forum.
For a while now, my mind has been restless, i haven't spoken to my father since i left his house on January 5 2023. We had an argument and i left some days later. All these stories are annoying and heartbreaking. What loss of life. Why didn't she give the child up for adoption or better still to extended family to take care of.

Omo! this reminds me of a faithful day I had taken my crush out for lunch.

It was a sunday evening and we had gone to this newly opened fast-food joint to chill - Bills on me!

When we got there, she ordered jollof rice, chicken and moi-moi, and so did i. We also had a pack of hollandia yogurt each to step down our meal.

How God helped me to and fro an interview without paying transport.

It's really not easy for a job seeker, and because one does not want the situation to remain the same, he must strive to land a job to change the status.

Since I couldn't afford not to attend the interview, and as I didn't have transport fare for it too, I had to use any means to get there.

There is this company I was privy to know was recruiting both casual and permanent staff. Since it's sited outside the town, I prepared my CV and asked someone to help me apply for it and to my surprise, I was invited for interview.

A broke me with no assurance of where the next meal is coming from? How do I attend the interview in such a far distance when I can't boast of transport? Then on the second thought, I also asked myself, is lack of transport fare enough reason not to attend an interview that can change my situation? I told myself definitely NO. I MUST ATTEND THE INTERVIEW.

So this morning, I dressed up in corporate with a tie on. I know a tipper driver who passess where the company is sited every morning. Since I didn't have his contact, I couldn't reach out to him on time to tell him. On that, I went early enough to where he parks the tipper at the close of work and pick it up in the morning. Luckily I met him and was very real about my situation. He agreed to lift me but more trouble for me was that the cabin had 2 persons already, excluding the driver. It was only the open bed at the back that was free. That was his offer.

Was that cool for me? Did I have an alternative?

Of course, with my tucked in dress, I climbed into the tipper bed and was lifted very close to the office. My trouser even opened in the process of scaling over. Still, it didn't distract me. Rather, I was conscious in managing it so I wont expose myself. The goal was attending the interview and getting the job. Thankfully, on my arrival, the interview was just about to begin.

So as the tipper was on the road, when people saw me inside the tipper bed dressed in corporate, they were just cracking up, taking me for a comic actor. What can I do? I moved on with it and I was cheerfully waving at them back.

After the interview, I stood by the main road and was lifted again by another tipper that was returning to the town. Hallelujah!

The small 1k that was left with me which I refused to tamper with it, I'm using it to prepare okro soup (the cheapest soup) this night, to manage till further notice.

Though I'm not a comedian but lack of transport to the venue made me one. I'm sure the pictures as people were taking may go viral.

Either way, I attended the interview without spending any transport. Also, I did my best in the interview. I pray the stress, suffering and inconviniences pay at the end of the day.

May poverty and brokeness never know your address.

I was just reminiscing about my job and the went through the thread that hit front page on May 1st, if people love their job....

So I've been on my job for 2years now, and my salary haven't entered into the new month before, even if pay day is on Sunday, I will get alert, the first place I enjoyed this constant salary, is when I was in FCMB, their pay day is 22nd of every month, once the 22nd enter weekend, it would be paid on Friday...

I need to know why employer delay staff salary, after so much of their time, they have invested on the job?

No common regulatory body to monitor this activities and so you have it this way.

I have been with my wife for 11 years, and throughout this period we have always had trust issues. The trust issues emanate mostly from her. Issues like not being accountable, not being transparent and disloyalty at its core. Eg, claiming shes at location B, whereas shes at location A, like calling her and not picking, but will pick other number calls and much more.

We have communicated in ways to make things better, she would promise to make things better but will at the end of the day backslide. further issues deepened, I got tired and couldn't tolerate more of it, so I repeatedly asked for a separation, but yet she disagrees. One of the major that happened now is here in UK, as we relocated last year Sep. She had met a new lady friend at a party, apparently they got to know more of each other after the lady forgot her kids bag at the location so my wife was asked to take it that she will come over to ours to pick it up since we live close to each other.

To cut long story short, the woman is into beauty products marketing, she involved my madam in the hustle and they seem to pair along well, invites her to events held in hotels and all that. The one they went for 3 days ago, after the event, she called me that she was done, didnt want to take uber prolly cos it was expensive, so she said the lady claimed she will drop her off. An hour later she called she was on her way that the ladies husband have come to pick them up, 40mins later she said there was traffic at woolich that it might take time b4 she gets back. Because of the trust issues we always have and haven't been sorted, I checked her lcoation via her findmyiphone and lo and behold they were at the womans house. I waited at least 15mins to see if maybe it was the traffic, but it wasnt, because her movement was at a complete halt.

So I called her, she didnt pick, gave her another 3 missed calls she didnt pick, so i called my daughters phone that was with her, she then picked saying that she was on a zoom meeting with some clients thats why she couldnt pick, but that shes in the car still heading home,though i could hear TV sound, so i was like babe, it dont sound like ur in the car, she was like the ladys husbands car is a Porsche car, you can hear any sound, so i said i was going to call her on video call, I called she didnt pick, she then called me back on video while showing she was in the car and it was at that time her movement on the map started showing she was moving, this might be too much to be doing, but it just seem glaringly obvious that there is something she is hiding, but the most painful part was that she now handed the phone to her friend to defend her that she was truly in the car bla bla bla, i had to cut the call off.

I felt so embarrassed and felt maybe I would not have told her that she wasnt in a car, or that she would have handled the situation better by not handing over the phone to her friend to talk to me.

Do you guys really think trust issues that havent been resolved over the last 10 years can still be worked out?

Please go talk to your wife with facts and proofs, and stop keeping things in your mind that might become cancerous to you.

My mom's chickens have been going missing for the past few weeks now and we have been wondering what was disappearing our chickens.

At first we thought it was the omonile's but we realised they can't do such a thing. So we decided to wait and hope the perpetrator would meet their waterloo soon.

So today as usual, my lil sister went to open cage, only to come back shouting that there was a snake in the cage. Na so I ran out with shovel to go and see. Lo and behold, that thing in the pics below was just chilling and relaxing in the cage, after helping itself to a banquet of three chickens (two adult and one little one) as if it was waiting to digest the one's it had eaten, so that it can continue from where it stopped. I was not comfortable with the snake because I've never killed snake in my life before, so we called on some guys with experience to come and assist us, even some Hausa guys passing by joined in, Na so we kill am ohh
