735i:I mistakenly took four. Three down, one to go. 🍻

735i:Wetin carry Naija enter this conversation now? Who said the thread only applies to Nigerian interviews? Neither the OP nor your comment specifically mentioned Naija. Be calming down. |
735i:At my former place of work, Fridays were half-day during summer and they served bear on Fridays too. So the interviewer might just answer in the affirmative. ![]() |
blaise26abj:There are many success stories with frozen eggs as well. Someone's misfortune isn't a reason to discard it as a contingency plan for someone who ideally wouldn't want to be a single mom. blaise26abj:Sure, egg freezing could fail anyone. Even the natural way isn't a guarantee. The point is, she's doing what is within her control given the multiple constraints involved (age, dreams, desires, etc). She's doing something, and she's doing it the way that gives her peace. None of us can predict the future. Her happiness is the most important factor here, and while this plan may or may not work out for her, taking in now with some random sperm and cutting short her chances of attaining her goal of being a married woman isn't necessarily a better plan even though it's also valid. I hope she finds someone soon. And if ever she runs into menopause while waiting, I hope this back-up plan does fail her. I'm just glad that she's not sitting down waiting on fate. |
blaise26abj:You don't get it. She's doing this and publicizing it cause she doesn't care what people will say. She's doing it because it is what she wants. If she cared about what people would say, she wouldn't even put it out there. I only mentioned the fact that a lot of men wouldn't date a single mother to further explain why her choice is valid. She's 35. The men seeking her hands in marriage are few as you said, and they will be even fewer if she gets pregnant now. And it's absurd to ask "why keep hoping?" A lot of women got married at an older age, her chances aren't zero. Like you said, finding a man is one thing, having a kid is another. To ensure she doesn't lose one while waiting for another, she took precautionary steps. There's absolutely nothing wrong with her decision. If anything, it buys her some time to decide what she really wants to do. I have nothing against women getting pregnant out of wedlock if they don't find love, but preserving her eggs while she gives marriage one last shot is a perfect plan. |
tsdarkside:Lol... I thought I was having a civil conversation. Enjoy your day. |
blaise26abj:Even having sex is not an assurance too. 35 is a critical age. Not freezing her eggs may shatter her dreams of having kids, and at the same time, getting pregnant now will reduce her chances of finding love. In other words, she's losing time, but there's still hope. So getting pregnant now will be throwing in the towel, and she believes she still has some years to go before giving up the idea of finding love. The same person advising her to do the natural way now would still be the one to call her ashawo if she got pregnant now. Only a few men would date a single mother let alone get married to one. So it makes sense why she'd take the precautionary step of freezing her eggs while still hoping for the better. I'm sure she has already decided when to go ahead and use them. |
tsdarkside:I did not say "when", I said "if". She'll probably never use it, but it's always a good idea to have a safety net. So I don't get your question "why even waste money at all if you dont want children?" The exact reason I asked her to do it in the first place is because she doesn't want children. Since humans change thier mind all the time (and there's nothing wrong with that), I advised her to take precautionary measures. Not everyone is comfortable with adoption. It's all about life choices, and people do what makes them feel fulfilled. |
This is a great move. If not for how expensive it is, I'd have said our ladies should start taking advantage of this scientific wonder to preserve thier eggs with a certain degree of assurance. I told my friend that said she doesn't want kids to get her eggs frozen just in case she changes her mind in the future, and I'm glad she listened. Investor137:Do you even know what it means to have one's eggs frozen? Truths9ja:They just come online to trash-talk women while exposing thier ignorance. And people actually liked his post. |
endsarrrs:You probably missed the word 'head'. |
Bahamas95:Quacks are unlicensed. That's why they're called quacks. |
Y'all always create threads like this as if you're expressing concerns, but it's obvious y'all are just perverted people looking at underage girls with eyes full of lust. You derive so much pleasure from discussing these girls in a sexual context. Just look at the things grown up men are typing on this thread. Tomorrow, they'd still come back to call out Nigerian girls. Dirty. |
christejames:Y'all calling out our architects as if they have the final say on the material to use. When you want to build your house, just tell your architect you want a mud house, I'm sure they'd give you an architectural design that fits that requirement. It's easy to quickly call out a category of people when we feel we don't belong to that category, but we're all potential house owners and we can decide to go for mud if we really want to, right? |
Power is back (most frequently used) Power is back on/up Power has been restored (most formal) Power is up There's no need to mention the power company, but if you must, you can simply say "NEPA has restored power" (this might sound odd to a foreigner). |
Yeah, true. Some do regret traveling out, some don't. Some regret getting married, some are enjoying thier marriage. Some people regret switching jobs while others feel lucky to have made such a decision. Such is life, so I don't get the point of this thread. I don't have the numbers, but I'm pretty sure the number of people happy with thier decision is higher than that of those regretting thier move. |
Nobodyany1:Sorry, boss. I'm still mentor my myself. ![]() |
PaulH07:Oh... You're fluent! You just said I should send my account number. |
VULCAN:Haha... I'm still learning myself. |
PaulH07:Thanks, bud. I should probably update my sig cause it's misleading. I stopped teaching French a long time ago. ![]() |
To those saying he should focus on making money and forget about isolation, what you guys fail to understand is that one cannot make money if he isn't in good mental and physical health. To those saying he should come back or stop complaining, the dude only shared his observation. That doesn't necessarily mean Nigeria is better. The truth is that when you travel, you'll see things that you wish weren't the case, and there's nothing bad in sharing them. Canada welcomed a lot of Nigerians this year, so expect to see more threads like this. As a canadian citizen myself, my advice to the dude is to fearlessly put himself out there. The life we want doesn't come by chance especially in a place like Canada where your next-door neighbor doesn't even know what you look like. You'll have to cautiously put yourself in a position to meet and interact with people and stay open minded while at it (origin, race, religion, sexuality, class etc. shouldn't be a barrier). Go to meet-ups (meetup.com), get volunteer jobs to give back to the community and meet people, go to the gym, bars or pubs aren't bad if it's your thing, go to the office even if you're allowed to work from home, join new-comer programs, etc. Show genuine interest in people. Trust me, they're also looking for connections. Some of these things will backfire. You'll meet some people that will treat you badly or some annoying people, but don't worry. Once you make one friend, it'll double your potentials to make more cause they'll bring thier own friends into the mix. And once you have a healthy social circle, you won't see Canada as an isolation camp anymore. Again, he should find a balance between being the guy that knows how to save money and the guy that knows how to stay simulated. Some people move to cheaper cities to save money but end up destroying their mental health cause these small cities are very laid-back and they are not as diverse as the big ones. Depending on your personality, it might pay you more to live in a small condo in the city center than in a house in the suburbs. We say wants over needs, but sometimes, we confuse our needs as just wants and we end up neglecting them. Pay attention. Good luck! |
Lord have mercy. These are the people typing "fear women", "Nigerian girls are useless", "girls are nowadays", etc. all over Nairaland. Poor girl |
lordm:Lol... So who do blame for the high rate of illiteracy in the country? The illiterate themselves? |
They say they're homophobic and they accuse the white man of forcing homosexuality on them, yet they're willing to be called anything just to go and live in the white man's country where gay people are treated like humans. Logic. |
The past participle is "run". "Ran" is the past tense. |
chatinent:Are you saying that poor kids will recognize the currency on basis of the fact that they're poor? K thought it's the individual's age and not financial status. |
EDUECO:They identify as the leader of the free world. I guess that's the expression you're looking for. |
EDUECO:Why all the exclamation marks? That doesn't create a good impression on the minds of the readers, and it definitely doesn't make your text any truer. The US doesn't even identify as the leader of the modern world. |
vickydevoka:Did you even read the news or you just jumped in to defend as usual? Just read the first sentence in the body of the post, and then look up the meaning of the word "admitted" on Google. |
GanagiBitrus:No, not really. Please, don't make such bold statements about such a sensitive matter if you aren't well informed on the subject. There's a difference between other sexual assaults and rape. If this is called rape, then there was an intercourse without consent. The lady was walking home, he accosted her and raped her. She was a stranger to him, so it's not as if they were together and he misinterpreted the signals. So don't water it down by making look as if it's just a matter of societal difference. |
These are your threads below. You are clearly obsessed with women just like many of you that come on here everyday to create threads or make comments on how they hate women. Your obsession has ruined your life, and you're taking your frustration out on the opposite gender. Get help.

FreeStuffsNG:I don't know why the visit was canceled, but it's definitely not because Tinubu isn't around. This is not a family visit. Country leaders don't just meet up randomly. Except for emergencies, the countries Tinubu will visit in the next six months are all scheduled already. This same applies to the Prime Minister. The aides of these two leaders have had series of meetings before now to agree on when it's convenient for both of them to meet in Nigeria. The security arrangements have been made long before now. There's nothing like "I wanted to come, but since you're in Saudi Arabia, maybe next time". There's a higher probability that Tinubu went to Saudi because his meeting with the Prime Minister was canceled, thereby creating some space in his calendar. |
