The word you're looking for is "lend", not "borrow". |
GreatAchiever1:I just saw your sig. It's not worth the time. |
Jman06:Interesting. Your comment is exactly the reason why you need to support feminism. What you've just described is one of those things that the feminist movement tries to abolish via equity and fairness. That's why I said that feminism is more about women than about men and that men will benefit from it (many Nigerian couples living abroad can tell testify to this power of two). However, it requires a change of mindset on both sides. A key concept in feminism is balance and consent. Both partners may or may not earn income simultaneously, but thier activities must balance out at the end and they must both agree to that. For example, if both partners work 9-5, it makes sense for both to assist each other with basic house keeping stuff. This way, the household income belongs to both of them as well as the home. If one party earns, it's logical for the other party to take over the home keeping, child care and others. This doesn't mean the party at home doesn't bring anything to the table because the only reason we men can travel the world for business is because we know there's somehow to take care of our home and our children. If you doubt me, ask a single father to tell you his story. This is why we have things like alimony in some countries. So it's up to the couple to decide what works for them provided there's balance and consent. |
Is this different from cous-cous? |
Who says feminists don't love thier husbands? Feminism is more about women than about men. It has nothing to do with hating men. If you hate men, you're a misandrist regardless of what you've chosen to call yourself. So ladies that make comments like this are ignorant and they're mostly those eager to be accepted or praised by the other side. I'm not saying we should all agree with feminists (it'd be great if we did). I'm saying that if you must stand against feminism, try to understand the concept at least. Feminism is about equity and fairness. It's about getting rid of prejudice against women. Feminism is about women empowerment. This same lady will come online tomorrow to cry if she loses a position at work because someone believes men are better managers or better leaders. The men that praise her today will be the ones to complain she brings nothing to the table other than her body. |
You probably meant to type "without" in your title. |
There's racism and there's sexism just like most places. However, to your point, the racism is extremely low and the sexist laws are widely accepted to be "cultural and not hate oriented". This has nothing to do with thier religion. More than 70% of the people living in Dubai are foreigners. Most of the businesses are foreign investments. You can pass 10 groups of people while working down the street and they'll all be speaking different languages. So you can see why see racism wouldn't thrive in such a place. Again, asides from school settings, most people maintain racially homogeneous social circles. What I noticed though is that people might treat you differently depending on where you're from. For example, you may not be treated badly cause you're black, but another black person from the US may get served before you even thought you're of the same race. So this is more of human classism than racism. The only peculiarity here is that it's somehow attached to nationality based on the assumption that people from certain regions are generally poorer or less influential. This classism is more pronounced when you go to those locations where rich Arabs gather to eat or party. Again, some restaurants and bars have a proclivity for giving preferential treatment to customers from thier respective home countries. That said, I don't think I've seen any place as safe as Dubai. The city is 'sleek'. |
I will never understand NL people. They read something like this, and thier reaction is "women!". Like, how do these boys think? What happened here is merely a clash of cultures. While a Croatian would normally greet a colleague with a light kiss on the cheek just like the Spanish people do, such greetings are reserved for close friendships in Germany. How this could lead to you guys bashing women is beyond me. It's like that's your default reaction to everything. The action was initiated by the man who should have known better. The lady merely avoided what could have led to more controversy, but somehow the reaction is "women!". Weird obsession, it must be. |
N3TRAL:This woman will not stop doing her job because Nigeria has other problems. Educating the corpers on the importance of safe sex will not stop the government from fixing the country. It will not stop other expert from teaching other skills on camp and it definitely will not stop corps members from learning other useful skills. That something has a higher priority doesn't mean other activities shouldn't be done alongside it. Besides, health is just as important if not more important than any skill they could possibly acquire over there, and what this lady taught them could be a life saver to some of them. |
They did not declare war; at least, not yet. They voted to authorize the president to get the country involved in the war if and when he sees fit. It's now up to the president to decide whether to declare war on Israel or not. I don't know why some people are so excited by the prospects of war as if it's some Hollywood action movie we're talking about. Caution. |

Rubyjade:In Québec, if the price at check-out is different from the shelf price, the customer will not only pay the shelf price but will also be given an extra discount or even gets the item free of charge if it's below a certain amount. This law applies to in-store purchases. I don't know about online stores. |

Not an expert, but I believe the effects of masturbation are more mental than physical. At the physical level, it's similar to having sex. But it could really mess up one's mental health. And just like you said, it could also be a time waster. I know most teenagers masturbate when they begin to explore and understand their body, but a lot of people get addicted to it afterwards and suffer the side effects. Sad. |
I think the government is trying to take advantage of this mass exit, and that's a great move. This brain drain is a major problem for us, and it cannot be stopped abruptly. Anything the government would do to stop it must be progressive and gradual. So the idea here is to find a way to benefit from it in the meantime in order to reduce the loss. If the brains aren't here to make our economy better, perhaps we could still benefit from the drain by providing an easy channel for them to send money home, invest in Nigeria and help those back home build thier skills. The point is to bring the money and the skills home as much as possible while also working towards making the country a favorable location for investors. In my opinion, these people that always scream "misplaced priority" on everything are either overly excited youngsters, uneducated folks who don't know how the government works or just people who can't separate governance from politics. You think the government should leave what can solved now and focus on what can be solved next year because the later has a higher priority? Or you think one ministry should leave thier work because the work of another ministry has a higher priority? The government is huge. Each MDA has its mission, and one's work doesn't necessarily slow down the progress of another. Our government is trashy. Our politics is extremely dirt. Our president has a very questionable past. I'm not proud of any of these, but trash-talking every single step taken by the government makes us look like dummies. When a step is taken in the right direction, acknowledge it. It doesn't mean you support the government. It means that when you disapprove of something, it will be clear that it's out sound judgment and not just sentiments. |
You mean housing affordability? The houses aren't poor. At least, they're better than what I saw in the UK. But that's for those that can afford them. In my opinion, the real estate cost in Canada is the worst in the world. The healthcare system is not bad. Canada has set a high healthcare standard, so when they say it's not good enough, it's still better than that of many other places like the US and Co. As for the labour market, it only favors those in tech, finance and med. Others are on thier own. One major factor here is that people troop in from all over the world expecting a land of milk and honey. I know a lot of Nigerians that moved to this place from the UK because of what they heard. For those in the sought-after fields, it was a great move since Canada and the US generally pay better than the UK. But for others, they had to manage thiet expectations. |

doneback04:Nobody can be completely free of HIV. When someone is confirmed to be HIV positive, they get started on one of the numerous types of antiretroviral drugs out there. If they adhere to the doctor's insurance and take thier drugs daily, in most cases, their viral load will reach a level called undetectable. At this stage, they can have sex without transmitting the virus to thier partner. However, they still have HIV and, therefore, need to keep taking thier drugs everyday to maintain the undetectable level. So the girl in question might have reached the undetectable level, but she still has HIV. It's 100% safe to have sex with a HIV person who has an understanding viral load. However, that's something most people would only do if they're married to the person. Also, for most people, verbal confirmation isn't enough. They'd prefer to follow the individual to the hospital to get a doctor's report confirming their viral load. |
Eriokanmi:First, everything I wrote about HIV up there is true. I know cause I'm a part of a HIV prevention program here. As a member of this program, I know exactly how to approach each individual, and my comment up there was geared towards an individual who is afraid of getting tested. I got my statistics from a reputable source (Statista Research development, collated in 2021 and published in Feb. 2023). Considering the fact that we have issues with statistics in Nigeria and also the fact that some HIV positive people are unaware of their status, I used the word "about" when stating the number of carriers and the number of adult women in Nigeria. Of course, the number of carriers could be more, but that doesn't my conclusion which is that the OP's chance of having the virus is less than 1%. If you go to a HIV clinic, of course, you'd see an overwhelming cluster of people with HIV because it's a convergence center for them, but at a national level it won't be more than 1.5% of adult women. This combined with the fact that the OP's chance of getting infected with the disease if he had sex with a carrier is less than or equal to 0.05% implies that the overall chances of the OP having HIV is less than 1% even if he had sex with a HIV positive person. I'm not saying this to encourage promiscuity or make people let thier guards down. HIV is real, and even though it's very manageable today, it's still a serious health concern all over the world. I'm saying this because it's a scientific fact and one that will encourage the OP to get tested. Solution wise, zipping up is one of the solutions, but it's not the most practical one. Arguably, human beings are not created to zip up. Regardless of what religion says or how much we preach, people will keep having sex. And until we start pushing other solutions, HIV, HPV and other STD's will keep spreading. I, therefore, encourage people to know thier safety options and pick the one that works for them and thier pocket: 1) Abstinence (aka zip-up) 2) Monogamy (where both parties get tested every 6 months) 3) Condom 4) PREP (regular or on-demand) 5) PEP (preferably PEP-IN-POCKET aka PIP) 6) Undetectable viral load (if one of the parties is known to be HIV positive) |
ALARAPE22:Won* |
Agwotulumbe1:It's your opinion, and you're right, it doesn't need a source. The question is, why did you title it "real reason why...."? The word "real" implies it's factual. Meanwhile, it's just an opinion based on guts or observations at best. |
Troop is a strong word. |
It could happen in one thrust, but statistically speaking, the possibility of you having HIV is extremely low. Nigeria has about 1 million women with HIV and about 100 million women in total. So the chance of you meeting one at any point is like 1%. Again, some of the 1 million HIV positive women are on medication and have undetectable viral loads. This further reduces the number of women in the country that can readily give you HIV (since undetectable viral load implies that it impossible to transmit the disease to others). OK, let's now assume all odds were against you and you had sex with that one-in-a-hundred HIV positive person with a viral load that is not undetectable (i.e., they can transmit the disease), the odds of you contracting the disease from them is still very low. HIV is a difficult virus to catch. When a man has an unprotected sex with a HIV positive woman, the chance of him getting the disease from her in a session is about 0.05%. So you'll have to be one unlucky fellow to beat these odds. But like I said, it could happen in one thrust. It's better to be safe than sorry. Don't let anyone tell you HIV is hoax. That level of ignorance/naivety shouldn't be in existence in 2023. HIV is very much real. And even though it's no longer as dangerous as it once was, it is still out there, and you don't want to have it. So know your safety options and pick the one that works for your and your pocket: 1) Abstinence 2) Monogamy 3) Condom 4) PREP (regular or on-demand) 5) PEP (preferably PEP-IN-POCKET aka PIP) 6) Undetectable viral load (if one of the parties is known to be HIV positive) |

You want young girls to emulate her, yet all you write about her is about her physical features and attractiveness. How can girls emulate her when you people never see beyond the body of a lady? Y'all pretend as if you fell from heaven, but you're even shallower then the girls you criticize. This is a woman who probably has multiple degrees, held multiple senior positions and has contributed her quota to her industry in more ways than one, but you created a thread to talk about her body and how she's attractive unlike other highly placed ladies who are equally hardworking. So those other female CEO's that aren't as attractive shouldn't be emulated? So our girls, in addition to working hard, have to find a way to make themselves appealing to men in order to be appreciated. And then you have the audacity to call out girls that show breast. Ridiculous. |
haywhy80:Hey.. thanks! Hehe.. Abandon is a strong word. Let's just say a made room for others. Lol. |
tachia406:One can blame the girl for her choices. When will one begin to blame the man for his far more egregious choices? Or you don't think killing the lady was a choice? Pepper is an inanimate thing that cannot be held accountable. Men are human beings that make choices. Why equate them with objects just to avoid calling them out? What kind of ridiculous analogy is that? A man killed a woman and you guys are here blaming women. Don't you see how ridiculous that is? Why not first blame the killers? Is crime a man's birthright? Preposterous. |
