Mine is that the little child should be excused. I mean, why expose the kid to this and even allow him to verbally attack the lady? These are the kind if things we should shield our children from. It seems okay now cause it's against a common enemy, but it won't always be. |
The French president should be mindful of his words. His PR should know how the social media works. If you read his words, you'd see he was saying that without the intervention of the French military, these countries would have probably crumbled in the face of terrorism. While this is very debatable, it's a probability nevertheless and that's why he said "probably". But the headlines all over the internet, just like that of this thread, are all about sensationalism. This out-of-context headlines aren't new. That's why the blame is still on him for making such a statement. |
Even me, I predicted to my friends. I don't think one needed to be a prophet to see it coming. That's what happens when you let coup plotters get away with it. |
Are you kidding me? As an indoor person, I watch Netflix on my TV everyday while eating dinner. Regardless of how much I've achieved in a day, if I can't keep my PC away for a couple of hours for some "self time", I feel like I've underachieved. That's because I inculcated this "self-time" into my calendar and made it a high priority task for myself some time ago when I started feeling some side effects of work related stress. This habit helps me to be more mentally available and also gives me time re-prioritize and focus on what really matters. And yes, I know I could do it on my PC, but I like the idea of watching the big screen while sitting on a sofa. My brain interprets that as the true relaxation. ![]() |

Lol... the title is funny. Women, why?! Like we never miss an opportunity to generally call out women especially when it's on a crime that we feel can only be committed by ladies. Imagine if we start asking men why for all the bad things done by some men in our society. Back to the topic. The idea of giving up one's baby is painful both to the baby and the mother. Anyone that understands mother/infant bond would know most ladies that do this do it with tears in thier eyes. Many of them secretly follow up to ensure the baby ends up in a better place. And that makes you wonder why they still go ahead to do it. For many of them, it's primarily because of the single-mother stigma. They'd probably drop out of school, get insulted and might even end up single forever while the man they had sex with goes on to live thier lives. However, I still strongly believe there are better ways of handling the situation. I don't think it's practical for one society to stigmatize single moms and at the same time be against abortion and against such acts as the one reported by the OP. In Nigeria, we don't hold men accountable for thier promiscuity. We even praise young guys when they sleep with multiple women. And when pregnancy occurs, we hold one party accountable. This pressure leads to things like this. With that in mind, I have absolutely nothing against women given up babies they clearly cannot raise. It's in the best interest of the child. What matters is how they do it. I'd recommend they take the kid to an orphanage far away from where they live and sever any connection with it. Doing any other thing that can put the baby in harm's way in inconsiderate. |
True... They used to say that sending your kid to Africa at a young age is the best way to ensure they're morally sound. But now, kids raised here in the West are more genuinely polite, though still bold and smart enough to hold reasonable conversations while thier counterparts in Nigeria are looking for girls to insult online. |
These guys just want to live their lives |
My answer is NO. I believe your concerns are valid. A child of that age shouldn't even be seen walking down the street alone. When I see a kid of that age all by himself, I always believe it's inevitable cause it's not a secret that people's situations differ. But in your case, it can be avoided. You have to cautiously discuss it with madame in the absence of the kid (never encourage a child to disrespect the mother). However, it doesn't stop there. If you really want this to end, you have to contribute your quota. If wifey runs short of salt while cooking, go downstairs and buy her a sachet. It's not just the ideal thing to do, it's also a romantic and bonding experience when you do things together like that. Good luck! |
Rubyjade:Hhm... Did he tell you he's in Nigeria because he thinks the country will get better soon? He has already made it very clear that he hasn't left the country for some PERSONAL reasons. I'm sure you know what that means, but in case you don't, it means he's got a reason that has to do with his private life which he wouldn't want to put out there. So you asking him again what he's waiting for instead of answering his question of whether they're other people experiencing this negative impact of Japa isn't really addressing the subject of the thread. @OP, this is one of the major impacts of Japa. It's a sacrifice made by both the people leaving and the people left behind. Longtime friendships are left to dry off. If you think you're lonely, ask your friends abroad about thier own situation. The loneliness out here can lead to madness especially for the single ones. So while they are many gains from moving abroad, the loneliness part will still be there except if you move to a place where your friends are clustered. Like they say, everything good thing has some downside. I believe Nigeria will later feel the positive impact of this Japa period in the long run, but things will get harder before they eventually get better. Hold forth, re-evaluate your situation and weigh your options from time to time and do what's best for you at every point. |
Lol... the chicken has come home to roost. |
Bwilliam:Ok... I respect your opinion, but you certainly shouldn't impose that on others. If you don't like any practice, don't do it. That's called principle. But the moment you go out of your way to stop others from doing it because you don't like it, it becomes discriminatory and fanatical. That's what makes boko haram dangerous. No human has the job of maintening natural order. Only nature does that and if these guys are into guys, it is thier own nature. From my standpoint, the only thing unnatural here is the expectation that the 7b+ humans on earth should be straight. That's against the law of nature cause every single aspect of nature has exceptions including day and night. Only the artificial has that level of consistency. And for the record, phobia means fear or aversion (aversion means extreme dislike or hate). So the idea that homophobia denotes just "fear of" is from a place of poor understanding of the English language. |
This is extremely sad. Just see as they gather to humiliate the poor boy even as he tried to explain to them that sexuality is not a choice. Homophobia is just as terrible as racism. You'd think that people decriminated for the color of thier skin would know not to decriminate others. Africa! |
Lol... Lai's lies sounds funny. |
Alchemy528:I don't understand the policies. Please, explain how it's not wrong. Isn't NYSC certificate required for such an office? Didn't one minister resign because of it? Has she gotten hers? If not, why is she an exception? |
You should cut ties with yourself, oga. You guys will not keep prick one place. The moment something goes wrong, you'll start looking for another party to blame. |
Winner90:And yet Afrobeats is fast gaining traction all over the world? Music on its own is a universal language. Toronto, New York and London are the three most diverse cities in the world and whenever you enter a club in these cities, you must hear Afrobeats being enjoyed by those that that do not understand a word of it. Even without any words/lyrics at all, people still enjoy instrumentals alone. You know why, because shockingly, lyrics doesn't have as much importance in music as sound does. The most widely definition of music is "an organized sound", so words are secondary. Words are only primary to poems where sound is secondary. Any educated person knows this. So if you think people won't enjoy afrobeats because of the language, then think of the people that enjoyed Makosa even without understanding a word. Think of the the fact that American musicians used to sing in AAVE which is considered inferior and yet we all enjoyed it. Think of the fact that reggae was and is still in Jamaican Patois (thier own version of pidgin) and yet, it's enjoyed all over the world. It's OK if you don't enjoy afrobeats, but pidgin is one of it's defining factors and has been from day one. |
Armaggedon:This is lack of education on your part. Music is an art, and as such, it's extremely subjective. It's perfectly OK not to like a particular kind of art, but it doesn't make you any superior than someone that likes it. Some people love abstract art, some people think it's a waste of paint. Likewise, some people like the sound of Afrobeats (even when they don't understand the language) while some don't. None of these people is essentially superior to the other and if you think the kind of art you appreciate places you about others, then you know absolutely nothing about art. |
Some of them are on NL typing "girls of nowadays". |
Solofresh2:You guys lack simple decorum. I wonder if your education has any impact on the way you relate with one another. If you don't eat something, ignore or simply say you don't eat it. There's something you eat that some other people don't eat. That's how life is. You don't go about calling other people's food shit simply because you don't eat it. You may think you sound cool or special, but anyone that hears you say that would easily conclude you're not well educated. |
You guys have reduced women to nothing in that country. You want to buy a car for someone and you're asking whose name to put on it? Are you buying the car for your brother-in-law or you sister? Why should this be confusing ? Tomorrow, y'all will claim you don't understand why feminism exists. You push your women to the wall and expect them to keep moving. |
The way you guys like to make everything about you and your country is ridiculous. Nigeria was admitted cause the country did not formally apply to join the block. |
Okoroawusa:I said and I quote "just a few weeks after it was published that the country HAD the highest unemployment rate in the world". This is 100% true. Earlier this month, World Of Statistics posted that the country's 33.3% unemployment rate was the highest in the world as of that day.
|
Okoroawusa:The positioning changes each time a country releases their data, but the rates remain the same until the said country does another publication. According to World of Statistics, the previous rate ( ~ 33%) which was published in 2020 placed Nigeria at the highest spot earlier this month. According to GlobalData.com, Nigeria was only second to South Africa two years ago. So whether you agree with these statistics or not, we're still one of the highest. And that's not even the bone of contention, so fixating on the position of Nigeria in the unemployment scale instead of the suspicious sharp drop is a strawman's fallacy. 33.3% to 4.1% is extreme. While it's not impossible, such a change within a short period could not have gone unnoticed if it was true. They obviously adopted a new calculation method which is very questionable and difficult to relate with. |
From 33.3% percent to 4.1% in 3 years? Just a few weeks after it was published that the country had the highest unemployment rate in the world? I'm all for the positivity, but this one is a bit hard to believe. If there was such a sharp drop in unemployment rate in such a short period of time, it couldn't have gone unnoticed by the citizens. People would have felt the impact. The worst thing we can do as a people is churning out false statistics. That can only lead to a silent death. |
Every single thread must lead to people insulting Nigeria. Lol. |
