TravelRe: 10 Places To Visit In Nigeria During Christmas Holidays by Focusmind: 11:07am On Dec 26, 2019
Let's tell our selves the truth. The country is simply not suited for tourists. Poor infrastructure and lack of good transportation network coupled with the high level poverty that has made majority of its citizen to look crude, uncivilised in behaviour and chaotic environment with poor aesthetic and unwelcoming disorganised environment.

As someone earlier pointed out, the country is just too dangerous to be moving from one state to another.

OP, next time, localise this tourist attractions per state.

The way guys hardly tells someone that he is going to buy condom is the same ladies hardly tells anyone that she is going to buy pad.

Chest - beating have already started. I thought it was donated to the school.

After five years now, some idiotic students will be defecating on the floor of the toilet and the whole surrounding will be littered with dirts thrown from the room Window.

We lack decency and decorum in this part of the world.

See what Peter Obi and his Goodluck Jonathan could not do. I just don't understand Igbo's likeness for Jonathan. The man didn't do anything tangible in the East. Peter Obi and the so called PDP leaders in the East could not get the FG to do anything tangible and they will be busy blind - following and supporting Jonathan.

I am not a Buhari supporter but when you look at the what the FG has done so far in the East, it is far more than what the so called " Our Man" Jonathan did during his entire tenure, if he did anything anyway.

Imagine...our problem is not just no enough jobs .

We should start by reducing the number of kids we born , things were not this bad in my dad's time when the population was small and manageable .

My dad graduated with a 2nd class lower and he already had more than 7 jobs begging for him months to his Nysc pop... Even with ones 1st class it's not easy anymore
Honestly, I don't know why we don't have policy and national plan on population control. Population control is taken seriously in advanced societies just to ensure equitable distribution of resources. Now that their population is declining and economy booming, they are begging people to have more kids.

Nigeria should know that unchecked population have serious consequences like what we are seeing. Go to IDP camp and see people breeding malnourished children.

I have three kids and my mum told me that she was looking forward to additional two. The kind eye wey I look am.

They used to have six and seven in their time and expect it to be same now.

Over population is not good for Nigeria at this time.

The level of poverty and ignorance in this country is insane. Politicians are capitalizing on the poverty they imposed on the masses to reap them off.

Mental emancipation remains the best form of freedom.

I like this - can you use it as an outdoor interlocking tiles? I viewed the site and liked the aesthetics - share your contact for further discussion- You should also post pictures of its usage in Nigerian homes.

As some one asked, is it different from the usual concrete interlocking tiles for exterior and road?
RomanceRe: I Quit Being A Nice Guy by Focusmind: 7:57pm On Dec 13, 2019
I don't know why this is common with keke drivers, messengers, drivers, office assistants and lower class people.

You see a struggling driver, sponsoring one girl in school with his hard earned money.

I had one office assistant then when I was still in the investment banking sector. This guy was practically spending his salary on one chic working as a cleaner in another bank.

The chic was busy sleeping with bankers where she worked. She was later absorbed as a contract staff and bid bye bye to the office assistance guy in my former office.

The guy went into depression straight. His performance dropped and almost got the boot as his work required effectiveness and agility.

Guys, please learn and focus your energy towards developing your capability and capacity to grow and succeed in life than focusing on chics.

EducationRe: Burnt UNIJOS Library Rebuilt (New Photos) by Focusmind: 9:00am On Dec 09, 2019
for once, I may have to applaud a Nigerian government building in terms of landscaping and aesthetics. I don't know why we neglect bricks in building construction, especially in universities.

If you come to UK and other parts of Europe and US, you see red bricks buildings in Universities, looking aesthetically appealing.

The contractor did a nice job with the outside environment. Landscaping and green grass areas are a fundamental part of buildings, especially university buildings, where students could be outdoor on the lush green grass land, reading their books as it is done abroad.

Kai, Nigerians no get joy I swear. See how everybody is shouting come back. They want them to come back and join them in their sufferings in Nigeria.

But what is wrong with Nigerian and African migrant women? E no de hard them, once they enter abroad, na to open nyash begin born because of the benefit even when the immigration status have not been determined. For their mind, the baby na de assurance wey dem get stay back. That's why a lot of them came back with children from south Africa, europe and Libya

Believe me, they will not be deported just because of the last child that was born there. The thing has put the home affairs in dilemma on what to do to the family. They will surely win as some human right group will stand for them unlike Europe and US, were populism and far right establishments have taken over and there is no more sympathy for illegal migrants.
PoliticsRe: Lagos Government Orders Traders, Drivers Out Of Marina by Focusmind: 9:30am On Nov 30, 2019
Beautification that would not be maintained. When you see environment and the way lawns are maintained abroad, you start wondering why Nigerian mentality is different.

Government should focus on tackling poverty and human development. An uneducated and illiterate society does not value aesthetics and does not know what a decent and lively environment is. That's why you see so much lawlessness in the street of Lagos.
BusinessRe: Access Bank Wins Most Outstanding Company In Sustainability In Africa by Focusmind: 4:10pm On Nov 28, 2019
Does Nigeria and Nigerian know what sustainability is all about? Sustainability is impossible in this country. We are all copying westerners to be in the trend. As long as we are still running generators, commuting in fossil powered vehicles, dumping refuse where they are not supposed to be, using AC in the building 24 hours and contributing to climate change problems, there is no sustainability.

No Nigerian company can claim to be sustainable in their operation - Access bank should be sincere. I know say na one oyibo outfit will give that kind of award after collecting their fees.

One day we went out and I absentmindedly threw a wrap of gala out, the face my son made ehn! He said mummy, but you told me this, that the other time, I was ashamed and I had to apologize. I never did that again, instead, I drop in my bag and dispose when I get home
Good one! kids learn more from our actions than what we tell them to do. They observe us a lot and try to mimic and replicate our actions. Same for the environment and society. If the society is corrupt and the value systems are not in tandem with what they kids are being thought, they will start behaving the way others are doing in that society.

That's why most people behave well when they travel as the society there is conditioned for people to be discipline.
HealthRe: Share Your Experience(s) With Nigerian Nurses by Focusmind: 9:57am On Nov 28, 2019
sonnie10:
Good to know that you had a nice experience.
There are couple of things to understand why it is so.
First, there is an Act known as Patient Bill of Rights. It is an Act to protect the patient. Patients know their rights and the law is very protective. So nurse are extremely careful.
Secondly, people are well vetted by the authorities before they are licensed. Nurses must be of good moral character.
Third, the compensation is high and motivates the nurses to do better.
Fourth, the society orientation is different and people are very civil especially in a professional environment
Fifth, the nursing board is very strict when it comes to patient complaints.
Sixth, the administrators and management are very effective in protecting the hospital from potential liability and claims.
Lastly, the training to become a nurse is very good and centered on care giving
Excellent! We need to work on our value system in Nigeria. The care and comfort provided by the nurses to me and my wife after delivery was top notch, and they kept calling to check on both the mum and the baby.

Work ethics need to change in our country and people should show utmost dedication in whatever they do irrespective of the pay. If you don't like the job and the pay, resign and do not constitute a nuisance to the profession.

I agreed on the point you mentioned on vetting. As a student in UK in 2009, I got a job in old people's home to care for the elderly and the sick in Perth, Scotland. I was vetted by the Scottish authority, and a copy of that vetting sent to me and the care home since the job requires contact with vulnerable people.
TravelRe: Kaduna-Bound Train Breaks Down As Passengers Trek 1000 Meters Via Bush To Kaduna by Focusmind: 9:19am On Nov 28, 2019
Nigerians and gross indiscipline! Must you throw items from the window? See how passengers littered the side ways of the train coaches with used items.

It is sad how we behave in this country but when we go abroad, we start smiling hypocritically to the whites with fake accents and behaving as we are the most well-mannered.

You will even see some professionals and people that should know throwing things from their cars on the road. Some will sit and watch their kids wound down the window and throw things on the road.

I am just imagining your type of person in my mind. Quiet, introverted and poor in academics , but exceptionally talented in art works. You seem to be from a wealthy family for them to sponsor you abroad.

My sister, you don't need university degree to succeed. You have talent in art, develop and polish this talent. Work on self image and esteem. Be bold and confident. If you happen to find your self outside this country for studies, please pick art and develop your raw talent there.

You will be more valued , and your art works will start receiving attention, being a woman. Society over there is more sympathetic to females talents and entrepreneurship.

Story! It is better to be safe than sorry.

Lagos is a peculiar case. Please see how to settle those boys to avoid trouble. I saw a situation where the boys came at night and destroyed someone"s property because he refused to settle boys.

Police and lawyers won't help you. Don't hire soldiers or police for protection. Once those boys are after you for not settling them, oyo na your name.

I had to do the need full and settled. I paid one of the members extra sef to help stay guard to guide my property why construction went on.

I don't know why we just abandoned coal. Coal is a major export commodity that the country could earn so much money from. Nigerian coal is even the best as the carbon content is low just like our oil has a low sulphur content.

forget all these climate change people, coal plants are still being established across Europe and the world - Poland just opened one of the most modern coal fired electricity plant and china is still importing coal to fire its coal plant because of cheap electricity it generate, making their goods competitive and cheap in the international market.

Lets see how we could use coal to generate power here and also for export. Coal powered the European Union countries and America in the 18th century as the energy from coal is one of the cheapest.
